It seemed that the scatterbug was not the only pokemon attracted to the sweet smelling treat. Lex called Poppy back as more pokemon started to come out of the grassland. She handled her first battle well but, she would not handle a swarm. He swapped out his pokemon, calling out Nimbus. The joltik was much more equip to handle this sort of thing. From the safety of his shoulder.
He really wanted that sentret toooo. Bully. Lex ran away from the group of pokemon, slidding over the dunes, skidding over the loose sands and just keeping his balance. He kept an eye on grandpa, making sure he was keeping up as they ran.
"Alright, this is ridic!" He shouted, frustated turning around and nearly collapsed into a berry bush. "Okay.. are they gone? I don't want to run anymore."

With the new scatterbug safely tucked away for future consideration, Ranveer took one of the jalebi out of the container for himself. Unfortunately, his temporary distraction resulted in him nearly missing a sudden drop in the terrain in front of him. He managed to catch his balance without injury, but, unfortunately, his homemade desert was not so lucky. Although he had avoided spilling the container all over the ground, he had done so at the cost of his vest, which was now covered in the sticky sweet glaze.
“Oh dear. That will be a bit annoying to wash…” He muttered to himself, as he took in the damage.
He tucked the now resealed container back into his bag, but in his distraction he failed to spot the sentret that had also been attracted by the sweet smell. Before Ranveer could say or do anything, Francisco (the fuecoco) lept to his defence! The little fire type was successful in keeping the wild pokemon off his trainer, but had taken a few too many hits in the process.
The next few minutes passed in a scrambling hurry. Ranveer barely had a moment to try and comfort Francisco (the fuecoco) before more pokemon were crawling out of the grass. He managed to capture a wild pidove in a research ball before he and his young companion decided that retreat was probably the best course of action.
Although he wasn’t as fast as his companion, Grandpa did manage to (mostly) keep up. He nearly tripped over a berry bush (that he recognized as one his wife used to keep in their garden – they would make a refreshing treat, if they weren’t currently in a bit of a hurry), fell down an embankment, and lost his footing on the shifting sand, but other than Arita (the ratata) being knocked out defending them against a regional weedle, Ranveer was doing alright.
In their flight he managed to remove his vest, balling it up such as to keep the sweet smelling sauce trapped inside, and shoved it into his bag, hoping that would be enough to stop attracting the local fauna. He smiled apologetically at Lex, when they stopped to catch their breaths. “I suppose I should probably leave the jalebi in the dorms and bring a less aromatic expedition snack in the future.”

"What is Jalebi?" Lex questioned, looking at the old man. "You did rather well keeping up. Look at you, you aren't dead." He stretched, catching his breath and ran a hand through his curls, careful not to dislodge Nimbus. "Should we start heading back? Think nature has tried to kill both of us enough for this trip."

Now that they were stopped and not being actively hunted by pokemon, Ranveer took the time to check on Amir (the lefmew) who had been handling the hungry locals after Arita (the ratata) had fainted. Other than being a little wind swept, the little guy was unbothered and even looking around as if he might find something else interesting to engage in.
“Not dead! I might not tell my kids exactly how the last few minutes went though, or else I feel that they might start to worry unnecessarily.” Ranveer mused. Some of his more excitable descendants were already a bit anxious about his recent relocation. “Ah, jalebi is the name of that treat I brought out before our little impromptu cardio exercise. It seems that the local wild pokemon think that it is as delicious as I do! Even if my skills in the kitchen aren’t as strong as some people.”
He tapped his chin thoughtfully. “I did use a particularly sweet honey I picked up at a local market instead of plain sugar. I should write to Rhene – that’s the young woman who lived near me back in Paldea; she runs a pokemon treat business out of her home – about this little adventure. She was always interested in people’s favourite recipes, and she might be able to market something like this!”
Deep fried dough, of course, wasn’t particularly good for most pokemon – or human people, for that matter – in large amounts. There was probably a more pokemon friendly version that could be made though! Rhene was a very clever chef. He should see if he could order some of Zahir (the arcanine)’s favourite treats, while he was at it.

"Ooh that does sound good." He paused, nose wrinkling as he caught Nimbus chewing on something. "What are you doing darling?" He asked, frowning. "How did you even get that. Drop it," he gently squished the bug, giving a soft snort "Gross." He said, managing to just side step the rough gravel and gave a little jump to keep his balance and not land on his face.
"Ooh That is a nice breeze... " He hummed. "Would you like to talk more about Rhene? Maybe I could do an article about her business, or see if she can't do business with us?"
