Raptor is the term used to describe all breeds and variants of the species. There are many diverse types inhabiting Velox. The two main groups are Land Dwellers and Sea Dwellers. Each of these groups have a variety of physical and traits though at the core share enough similarities to remain members of the same species.

General Appearance
  • Large bipedal raptors that are primarily covered in a scalely hide. Though mostly scaled they often sport tufts of feathers or fur at the elbows and along the back.
  • They have sharp beak-esk mouth with a line of small sharp teeth. They are adapted to ripping and swallowing food as apposed to chewing.
  • Their claws are sharp and deadly to prey and their foes in addition to providing great traction as they run.
  • Pretty much all raptor breed can have horns. Though some breeds it is common to lack them.
Other Info
  • Most raptors are omnivores and will eat practically anything. Many do have preferences and some breeds are more inclined or exclusive than most.

  • Appearance
    • Their large fairy like wings come in a variety of shapes but are still the most notable feature of the breed.
    • Despite their fancy wings, they can't truly fly with them. Gliding or short bursts of hovering is the best they can do on their own.
    • They primarily use their wings as a showy display for potential mates and to collect sunlight and keep warm.

  • Appearance
    • Fregs are covered in a thick skin opposed to they typical scales or feathers and is almost constantly coated in a think layer of slimy substance.
    • They have bumps that appear in clusters on their skin. Nearly all have them at least of their cheeks, wrists, and ankles, but can appear basically anywhere. These are used to store air to increase to remain under water longer or filled with water to keep moist on land longer without needing a dip.
    • Their toes are also tipped with soft sticky nubs rather than claws. Though useless when dry, these nubs allow them to stick to and climb surfaces in ways that is impossible for other species.
    • Their tails are typically short and stubby, but occasionally they do have longer tails.
    • A freg's mane doesn't extend fully down the spine. Like most aquatic species if they have a hair/fin mane at all it stops at the base of their neck.
    • While many fregs still have horns, they are also frequently are born without them.

  • Appearance
    • Viper's bodies are snake from the waist down and covered with two types of scales. The smaller body scales and their thicker belly scales.
    • Though they don't have legs they are sill swift and can easily match pace with other breeds.
    • They have long, thin forked tongues that are sensitive enough to 'taste' the air.
    • Their fangs fold back into the flesh on the roof of their mouth when not actively using them to strike or otherwise intimidate.
    • Their fangs are hollow and designed to inject their venom into their prey/target and not to fight, tear, or chew.
    • There is some variants in Viper's venom effects, though most are paralytic in nature.
    • Viper also lack the inner row of shredding teeth and will swallow their food whole. Due to this and their body structure they typically fight with claws and constricting.
