The currency of Everchange is called bits. Bits are about the size of a human quarter, but vary in weight, design, and material. Due to how the world is separated into locations that thrive off certain materials and weather, bits do not have an "official" material they're made of. Instead, banks use the materials local to them and enchant bits with a unicorn spell only taught to those who work at said banks. The spell causes the bit to react to a certain type of glass and reveal their legitimacy.
There is only one type of bit and it is valued the same throughout the world. Prior to bits, ponies used pounds of apples as currency due to their previous rarity and being a delicacy. In that time, three pounds of apples could buy the pony an apple pie based on the work made into making said pie and the ingredients involved, while ten pounds could buy them an entire meal.
Once bits were integrated (and apples lost their rarity) they mirrored the worth of apples back in that time. Now, one would use three bits to purchase a pie, and ten bits to buy a meal.
While ponies refer to their currency as bits, common terms for groupings of bits are; a basket (10 bits), and a bushels(100 bits). A pony can use these terms in a sentence such as "This couch is worth 2 bushels", meaning 200 bits.
