Good-hearted and heroic by nature, Shai is the type to drop everything to help someone in need. His own needs often get buried by his sense of duty, leaving him frequently worn down or injured. He’s a better listener than a talker — quick to act, deeply empathetic, and always trying to make things right. He tends to overthink his words and actions, struggling with imposter syndrome, but he uses that doubt as motivation to keep moving forward.​

Though he has a hard time saying no, Shai is learning to consider his own well-being so he can continue being there for others. Boundaries are still a work in progress, and he often relies on his family to remind him when to put himself first. Both familial and romantic bonds mean the world to him; with those he’s close to, Shai is warm, open, and deeply devoted. ​

While a vampire, Shai feeds exclusively on "normal" food, refusing to take blood even if one is willing. Unfortunately, food tastes absolutely awful to him, but at least it makes him easy to cook for!​

• [Born] Shai came from an unplanned litter; his parents had never discussed having children — or whether they even wanted them. His father, unbeknownst to his mother, had a side partner he’d been considering settling down with before the stars fell. Suddenly saddled with a responsibility neither felt prepared for, the two chose to raise their children together anyway. They were not good parents, but Shai quickly became the family favorite. Strong, smart, and agreeable, he was both an easy child to raise and someone who excelled at everything he tried. Though his father smothered him with praise, Shai felt uneasy watching his sister, Nuishan, and brother, Lucius, constantly compared to him and torn down by his parents disappointments. Their childhood was strained and unbalanced, and through it all, he grew exceptionally close to Nuishan.
• [Cursed] As a teenager, Shai began experiencing unsettling, vividly detailed dreams. Over time, he realized what they were: memories. With that understanding came a flood of past-life tales from worlds not his own. He saw who he had been, who he had lived as, and everything in between. What disturbed him most were the relentless— and often violent —memories involving his brother Lucius, who had often adopted the name Sin in previous incarnations. Their relationship, already strained, grew even more fraught when Shai realized Lucius had also regained his past memories. Lucius, long feeling overshadowed by Shai, withdrew even further, becoming hostile whenever Shai tried to address what they were both remembering. Nuishan did her best to keep the peace, but burdened with her own struggles and untouched by past-life memories herself, she couldn’t bridge the growing divide between her brothers.
• In every life before this one, Shai had seen the same pattern: no matter the choices made or the help offered, Lucius always ended up murdering their parents and fleeing. As they all edged closer to adulthood, Shai became desperate to stop what he believed was inevitable. He stayed near his siblings as often as he could, trying to shield them from their parents’ abuse — but he knew he couldn’t prevent everything. Moments slipped through the cracks and their parents found pockets of time to harm Lucius and Nuishan whenever Shai was occupied. He felt trapped, unable to either help his siblings or stop an unfortunate consequence. And yet… the day he feared never came. They reached adulthood, and instead of violence, Lucius simply moved out — abruptly, quietly. No bloodshed, no death. Shai searched for him, wanting answers, but Lucius had vanished before he could confront him. Eventually, Shai assumed that the weight of their past lives had changed his brother’s path and left, moving into a shared apartment with his sister and chose to never speak to his parents again.
• Free from the stress of his childhood and tensions with his brother, Shai found himself eager to explore Shards and develop experiences all his own. While the two kept their shared apartment as a backup safety, both Nuishan and Shai set out to begin their lives, with Shai exploring the galaxy and aiding those who needed a helping hand and Nuishan taking over a decrepit orphanage. The two kept in constant touch and Shai would circle back to visit her when time let him.
• [Cursed... again] While fighting a vampire coven that had taken over a small farmer town, Shai was bitten and turned into one of the nightwalkers! It was a shock at first, but Shai had grown accustomed to the strange and peculiar in his life and accepted it in stride. He found he could still survive eating normal food, it just... tasted absolutely horrid, and he needed to eat at least twice as much as a normal pon. He chose to view it as a price to pay for being able to still walk in the sunlight, and while his sister fretted once she found out, Shai shrugged and offered a sharp smile before returning to his adventures.
• While visiting Ponporri again, Shai learned that his sister and her nursery had gone missing during their travels. He dropped everything and rushed to the road he knew she’d taken. There, he encountered a few porri who had the same idea. Though he was hesitant to accept their help— worried it might put others in harm’s way— he allowed himself to feel grateful for the extra hands and set out to find the lost nursery.

Paddock isn’t sure where he came from, or who made them, but they find that there’s much more interesting things to think about. There’s a million questions swirling around in their brain, generating faster than they can string a sentence and birthing the moment he finds an answer. He is so burdened by his infinite curiosity that anything pertaining to himself seems like such a bore — a topic he’ll often drift away from in favor of his most recent pondering with a shrug.​

While he is monotone, quiet, and often lacks the facial expressions to match his mood, Paddock might surprise other porri when they realize he’s an extrovert! Being around other porri means new and interesting situations, ones that he could never experience if he remained isolated and cut off. They’re also just as likely to throw themselves into danger if it means trying something new, which, paired with their inability to physically feel, often results in them sustaining a new injury if he’s not careful (and he isn’t… ever).​

▹ Notes: They’re fairly even-tempered and love listening to others ramble on and on, making him an excellent friend! While they’re aware that their lack of facial expressions and tone leads to difficulty for others to connect, Paddock will always try and breach the gap by communicating as directly as possible. • [Reanimated] Paddock doesn’t know anything about his past nor who the parts of him once were, but he quickly abandoned ever caring. His creator was an old scientist who hadn’t considered what would come after, but he tried his best to raise the newly “born” pon. Despite everything, Paddock had a relatively brief but happy “childhood”.
• Paddock didn’t stay in his father’s lab long; the world had so much to offer, and he didn’t truly feel as if he had learned enough. Without anyone to tie him down, Paddock was free to travel and discover life first hand.
• [Adoption] Parenthood had never once crossed Paddock’s mind, but when he found a tiny newborn alone during a hike, he couldn’t bring himself to leave them behind. Rehoming the child never even occurred to him; he was too overwhelmed by a single thought: 'I need to make sure they’re safe.' He returned to his father’s lab with the newborn in paw, where he cleaned, babyproofed, and slowly turned the space into a home for both himself and the child he would come to name Peppermint.

His energy feels endless — sometimes to the point of being a bit too much for others. He’s painfully aware of this and makes an effort to rein in his excitement when meeting new faces. • He was gathered with the other orphans to be taken to a nearby festival. But during the journey, the caravan was knocked over, scattering him and the other starseeds into the surrounding forest.

• [Adopted] Having grown attached to the little starseed amid all the chaos, Shai ended up adopting Funfetti. Within a week of being in Shai’s care, he emerged from his starseed and soon began traveling alongside his new father. Paradox is a hyperactive, curious little gremlin of a pon, vibrating through life on her own wavelength. She’s forever sticking her nose— and paws —where they don’t belong, endlessly fascinated by the hows and whys of the world, and often more interested in the process of discovery than the answers themselves.​

While her attention span is short and sporadic, Paradox tends to hyperfocus on the things that truly matter to her: her family, her friends, and her ever-growing collection of strange, unknown objects.​

• [Born] Paradox emerged from her starseed on her own, wandering Ponporri aimlessly until a very generous couple spotted her and took her in on their farm. Her time with them was kind but fleeting, as the moment she was able to take care of herself she set out, eager to explore the world for all its wonders.
• [New Friend] She met Foxic while Shard-hopping! She was lucky enough to bump into him after twisting her ankle. Being unable to turn his back on someone in need, Foxic stabilized her ankle and invited her to his house for the night. While he had meant it to be a temporary visit, Paradox never... left. She just kept returning back to his door and lounged on his couch when he went to work. Originally it might have been vaguely annoying, but a new norm was created — one that meant they shared a home together.
• [New Partner] Foxic and Paradox can't really pinpoint when they began viewing the other as their other half, but a light question at a party was hastily answered by Foxic and nodded in agreement to by Paradox. The voiced truth came as a brief surprise, but only because the words had yet to be said verbally, lingering only between glances and silence. Little changed after that party, aside from Foxic calling Para his girlfriend openly while the smaller pon would nod enthusiastically.

Foxic is the kind of pon who gets things done — quickly and reliably. He sticks to methods he knows will work or has studied, avoiding unnecessary risks whenever possible. Studious and by-the-book, he prefers structure, routine, and factually proven solutions over improvision or risk.​

While he can come across as monotonous or piercingly direct, Foxic is deeply generous and caring. He shows his concern through action rather than words, quietly making sure his friends and family are fed, hydrated, comfortable, and safe. He often finds himself overshadowed by the louder, more vibrant personalities he surrounds himself with, but he’s content to remain in the background. Foxic doesn’t ask for much from life — only to be a good doctor friend, and person.​

• He moved out of the family home shortly after reaching his young adulthood, taking residence within a small, cozy apartment. There, he continued his studies until he was accepted into medical school.
• [New Friend] While heading to class, Foxic found and helped Paradox Nightlight with her sprained ankle. He had offered his couch for her to rest until he was done with class, but... well, she just never really left. Faced with his first actual conflict, Foxic grappled between not really caring that his apartment was not quiet— for once —and the very real concern that he was pretty sure she was homeless, jobless, and had no way to contribute towards covering her food and utilities. Eska doesn't particularly view herself as anything more than ordinary, and that's fine for her — ordinary is predictable and safe, which are both words she's found herself more fond of through the years. While she's resourceful with her hands and picks up hobbies frequently, Eska doesn't feel the need to brag or even really... talk about herself. Somewhere along the line, she's shed any source of ego and finds the topic of her own personhood boring, preferring to shrug when questioned about herself and redirecting towards something— or someone —more interesting. Perhaps, deep down, there's some sense of discontent towards who she is, but Eska isn't going to take the time to reflect on the matter. ​

It took years of persistence to convince her parents to let her train as well — but once she did, Eska picked it up quickly
• As she neared adulthood, Eska came to realize that what truly drew her wasn’t hunting itself, but the aftercare of the fallen; tending to what was left behind with respect and care. With her new understanding, she slowly pulled away from the family’s hunting trips. Echo noticed the growing distance and tried to talk with her, but the conversation quickly spiraled into a heated argument when Eska revealed her plans to leave their small village for the city in search of her purpose. The fight ended with Eska packing her bags that very night, leaving before anyone could stop her.
• [New Friend] Through pure happenstance, Eska met an elderly taxidermist while working her part-time job. Frequent visits turned into conversation, and then friendship. Nuishan is a driven, independent, and motherly pon, dedicating most of her time— and energy —to her work and close relationships. There’s little room in her life for downtime, which she genuinely doesn't mind. In fact, if left with nothing to do or no role to fill, Nuishan grows deeply uncomfortable and will quickly seek out a task or someone who needs her help. Leisure is a concept she understands, but rarely allows herself, leading to a slow accumulation of tension and stress from constant physical work and emotional labor.​

Her father, unbeknownst to her mother, had a side partner he’d been considering settling down with before the stars fell. Suddenly saddled with a responsibility neither felt prepared for, the two chose to raise their children together anyway. They were not good parents, especially towards her and Lucius. Nuishan found herself pitted against the numerous expectations of her mother and the inability to please either parent, no matter what she did. Growing up in the household was hard and left several emotional wounds.
• Her brothers, Shai and Lucius, suddenly began fighting when the trio reached their teenage years. She tried to keep the peace, hoping to bring them back together and squash whatever beef had surfaced when she wasn't looking. While she was massively unsuccessful, at least Shai appreciated the gesture and, in return, spent more time with her.
• When Lucius abruptly left the house it left a question for both Shai and Nuishan: why hadn't they left, too? Nuishan wasn't hard to convince to leave, moving into a shared apartment with Shai. Her more adventurous brother ran off to begin exploring, leaving Nuishan to ponder her own future between the silence. Eventually, on a whim, she applied to work at a dingy, old nursery.
• [Career Advancement] Nuishan couldn’t quite explain how she ended up as the nursery’s sole caretaker, but she chose to see it as an opportunity. With no one left to hinder her plans or dreams, she finally had the freedom to rebuild — to pour in the care and love the nursery so desperately needed. Shai visited from time to time, lending his strength wherever it was needed and often returning from his journeys with much needed funds. Through her hardwork and his generosity, the nursery was rebuilt as The Dreamdust Nursery, eventually becoming known for its loving head caretaker and its warm, welcoming halls.
