Pistachios are great. They're a little hard to get into, but they're quite tasty - at least, some people think so. If you can get past those annoying little shell, there's a delightful little morsel just bursting with flavor... and if you don't like them as they are, they make excellent flavoring for other dishes! They're great in cakes, cookies, puddings, ice cream... You can use them as a topping in salads, toss them into trail mix, encrust cheese balls in them - the possibilities are endless! As if that weren't enough, they also have a lovely color; what's not to like about creamy greens and smooth cream tones?
So... what does this have to do with summer? Well aren't you demanding in your plot coherence? But, since you asked (let's pretend you did), now you get to learn something! Pistachios are harvested at the end of summer! ... what? That fits the theme, don't give me that look. You know what? I don't need your approval. Hmph!
