Although Ranveer Maan was pushing ninety years old, he wasn’t going to let that stop him. He had kept in pretty good shape for a man his age, thanks to a lifetime of healthy eating and an active lifestyle. There were some unavoidable health concerns, but he was still walking without mobility aids and able to do most things on his own (although they might take him a little longer). So it was without any reservations that he donned his walking shoes, grabbed a sensible coat for the time of year, and strode out towards the Newbreeze Grasslands.
They had been on Nauwill for a couple of weeks now, but they hadn’t yet left Dovenport. There were a few things they needed to get in order, such as moving into his new dorm and getting the necessary supplies for expeditions. He had also, in that short time, come into possession of a great many more pokemon than he had been expecting!
He had been prompted to adopt a pokemon as a starter when he first arrived, and had taken home the sweetest little Fuecoco (who he named Francisco after one of his great grandsons). Then, over the following few days, he had come across six others that had just been strolling about the town! There had been a storm shortly before his arrival, and apparently it had sent the island into a bit of a tizzy, including a number of the local wildlife who had stumbled into the urbanized area.
A couple of them seemed a bit unruly to take out on his first proper pokemon adventure, so he left them behind at the dorm under the care of Zahir (his elderly arcanine) and Regina (Enid’s equally elderly meganium), both of whom, themselves, showed absolutely no interest in joining him on his journey. That, he supposed, was fair enough. Zahir had always enjoyed a quiet life at home and it was understandable that he wouldn’t want to disrupt that now, and Regina had done her adventuring back when Enid was still working in the field.
As he stepped out of the gates of the city, Ranveer clicked the button to release Arita (the rattata) and Francisco (the fuecoco) from their balls, so that they could join him. What exciting things were waiting for him out in the tall grass?
