It's a long, long way from Ancient Valley to Big City, but this axolotl has made the journey. The question is, why? What made them decide to leave their comfy valley home and come to such a busy place? Do they have an adventurous spirit? Are they hoping to start a business? Did they just want to see the world? That's up to you to decide!

In order to try and win this newly-lined axolotl, tell us a tale of how they got here. The details are up to you! The only restriction is that you need to keep your entry under 500 words. (Protip! If you haven't yet, go to your account preferences and set "editor character counter" to words. You'll have a word counter visible for you right here on the forum!)

This contest is open to everyone but me, and starts now. There is no form to enter, just post your story in whatever format you'd like in a post below.

This ends on November 8th at 11:59 PM CST!

"Are you sure about this?"

"Of course! I’ve never been more sure of anything!"

With a pleasant smile and a suitcase full of dreams (and variously sparse clothing), one certain axolotl boarded the plane, leaving their cotton-candy friend behind to wave from the terminal’s window as a new distance would set them apart soon enough. Hopefully not for long, however; if their jointly-developed business could thrive there, they’d be reunited again soon enough!

Stuffed to the brim with possibility, the star-eyed entrepreneur barely noticed as they nearly bumped into another new citizen putting their cargo above their seat, and it was this that brought their attention to the small device jostling in their pocket. A quick few moments and the same was in their hand, the heartfelt well-wishes from their small group of friends reminding them of what they were going for.

Sure, it was risky, but wasn’t the biggest city a great place for a friendly, cozy little soda-shop? With everything they’d heard about the bustling life it sounded like its citizens could use a break, whether it was for warm sandwiches or fruit creams, and all the reviews for the very few that existed there already seemed to agree.

It was such a big, Big City though, surely there was room for one more?

The axolotl smiled as they disembarked from the train. It took ages to get there, sure. But the benefits man, they were spectacular. A new place, new animals to meet and a chance to start their life over. That’s what made this journey worth it.

They looked around excitedly as they entered Big City from the central train station. It was so different from their old home. -This is my big dream- they thought to themselves. A chance to become an actor and maybe even be famous. They’d always wanted to star in a movie! And here in Big City, it was possible for that to happen.

A genuine Star. That’s what they wanted to be. A new life with a chance to become something more. They had no family or friends back in Ancient Valley to miss them anymore and so they were free to start fresh.

Born in Ancient City his community had always done things with their hands which the axolotl had grown to respect. However things changed for them the day they had heard of the wonders of Big City as a young citizen from a passing traveler. They were immedietly enchanted by the stores and to this day mused over the thing called high speed inernet or was it iternet? Either way the idea that there were beings (the internet) that could grant ones any desire had stuck with them and pushed them to step out of the home they loved.

Many of the older generations in the Ancient City were still largely against any of their own going out and living with these new found strangers that carried around small rectangular light up boxes and unintelligible weapons. Nevertheless, after years of convincing that they had grown enough to take care of themselves and promising they would be sure to stay alert the axoltol was finally allowed to travel with a group of recent travelers today to the nearest train station. Overjoyed they stuffed their small leather pack in a quick frenzy afraid to give the elders time to change their mind and followed the foreign travels at the break of dawn.

The journey towards the train itself lasted maybe 3 hours as they walked by foot. The axolotl didn't mind this and spent every moment inquiring the strangers about Big City getting more excited with each new story. They couldn't help, feel as if they were about to enter a new and unimaginable world.

Finally when they made it to this thing called the train the axolotl was in shock as he stared at the huge metal box. No matter how far they looked in either direction the boxes of trains kept going for what seemed like forever. They could hardly believe that this collection of boxes could move by itself without being pushed or pulled by someone.

"Wow~" they breathed in disbelief as their companions chuckled lightly at the axolotls amusement before bidding them farewell and entering the train.

Getting on the train was even more of a shocking experience for the axolotl. Everything inside the box was so pretty and soft that they were scared to dirty or break anything. Eventually, however, the axolotl convinced themselves to sit carefully and wait excitedly for the train to enter Big City the journey as far as they new was a days ride by train.

Hours into the journey, however, sitting on the weird contraption called a train to Big City the axolotl felt a pang of homesickness take over as their decision started to set in. They were so excited at first and now there was a gnawing terror in their stomach. Were they doing the right thing leaving home and those they loved to come face to face with the unknown? They didn't know, but it was too late to turn back now.

@Nashawryn @lLuminI

con has decided to drop out of the running so a non-staff member can win, so with only two entries, I've decided to reward both of you! 🎊 I've made a twin of the axolotl; Lumin gets first pick, and Nasha may have the remaining citizen. If either of you don't want a twin citizen, let me know, and we'll give it out to someone else!
