Character Name: Imogene Marsh
Pronoun Choice: She/her
Age: Twenty
Home Region: Kalos
Personality Overview:
- No matter how hard Iggy tries to be someone she is not, she always finds herself gravitating back to her weird, quirky self. She is comfortable with who she is and is unafraid of defying social norms. She is restless and reckless and lives her best life regardless of anyone else's opinion. Iggy is unsure of what she wants to do in life and is happy to simply bounce around, trying new things!
- Bugs - This goes without saying. She thinks they are super cute!
- Soil - The smell of damp earth, the feel of dirt on her hands. It's one of her favorite things, honestly.
- Mementos - Be it photos or floor finds, Iggy has a special place in her heart for physical things tied to important memories.
- Weird Flavor Combos - After many, many pranks pulled on her by her brother, she will happily eat pretty much anything. Her particular weird favorite is pickles dipped in chocolate pudding!
- Pranks - Nothing like some good harmless fun between friends, right?
- Makeup - It makes her feel sleepy and she's bad at it, what a waste of time.
- Skirts and Dresses - Less so the clothes themselves, she even finds them pretty comfortable, rather it's the constant looks and reminders that she isn't 'lady-like.'
- Stagnation - Sitting still has never suited Iggy, whether it's literal or figurative. She's always moving forward.
- Cooking - She tried so hard to learn, her mother was a great cook, but she just can't seem to get anything right in the kitchen.
- Dolls - They're so creepy!
- Collecting - Iggy had a pretty neat collection of random things. Everything from Butterfree wings, to Pokemon Teeth and Bones, were all things collected on her hikes.
- Photography - She's always been around cameras; Her mother worked alongside Viola in Santalune, and one of her brothers is a published photographer. Pictures of her large family cluttered the walls of her childhood home. It's not surprising that she picked up the skill.
- Gardening - Iggy isn't afraid to her get hands dirty. There's something really satisfying about tending a garden. But mostly, she loves all the cute critters that her plants bring to her yard.
- Fishing - Something she picked up from her dad, it was the only "un-ladylike" activity her dad encouraged her to learn. She finds it peaceful. Whenever she's missing her dad, she'll grab her pole and find a fishing spot.
- Hiking - With a family of five to entertain, outdoor activities were always a cheap way to keep the kids entertained. Iggy loves the outdoors!
- Loyal - Her loyalty is fierce and hot. God help you if you cross those whom she cares about. Or worse, someone who can't defend themselves.
- Comfortable - She is who she is and that's all she can be. No point in forcing it.
- Sincere - Ever since the incident with her father, Iggy has tried harder than ever to be honest with everyone, including herself.
- Slob - Putting it plain and simple, this girl is a bit of a mess.
- Naive - And a little oblivious, especially when it comes to romance. Who would dare to date a girl with four big brothers? That's suicide!
- Careless - While she's not dumb by any means, thinking things through before acting is just really not her style.
Growing up as the only daughter of five children, little Imogene could always be found toddling at the sleeve of one of her four older brothers, more often than not, covered in something sticky. She got into everything. The trash. Poison ivy. The laundry basket. Once she earned her infamous nickname of "Icky Iggy", it clung to her worse than the gum in her hair. Despite her father's many attempts to bring out a little lady, she persisted to defy every expectation of her.
It was an uphill battle, for sure. She fought him every morning when it was time to get dressed. Her manners were cast aside as often as her shoes and ribbons. If her brothers could behave the way they did, why couldn't she? But her father wasn't the only one she fought. She was against a constant barrage of tricks and pranks from her brothers, but she surprised them with her resourcefulness. Her love for bug-type Pokémon stems from her youngest brother's fear of bugs.
Despite all of the struggles, however, she truly did love her family. As she grew up, so did her brothers. One by one they left and, as their once busy, bustling home grew quiet as her youngest brother left, she began to notice a change in her father. He no longer fought her on her decisions. In fact, he hardly did anything. He drifted around the house like a ghost, missing his wife, and his kids. It pained her to see him this way. And so, Iggy found her manners and those shiny shoes he had saved up to buy her. She was determined to become the daughter he had always wanted.
A few strenuous weeks into her new phase of life, Imogene decided to take her father out for his birthday. She did up her hair, put on her best dress, and even applied a little of her mother's makeup. Everything was going as planned. That was until they were making their way down the street towards the restaurant. From the nearby park, they heard the panicked cries of a Joltik. Breaking away from her father, Iggy ran, kicking off her shoes as she did so. There, in the grass, lay the poor young thing as two Fletchling jabbed it with their sharp beaks. Screaming, she ran at them, batting them away with her sweater as their tiny talons tore at her clothes. As her father caught up to her, the birds flew off and there was Iggy cradling the Joltik as though it were a child. She apologized to her father with tears in her eyes, sorry for making such a mess of things as she always did. But he wasn't disappointed. No, instead he was laughing, laughing for the first time in far too long as he held his daughter close, pulling a feather from her tangled hair.
He insisted soon after that she go off on her own journey, as her brothers had done. She compromised to do so once one of them returned. She couldn't bear to leave her father alone. So, a few months later, when her eldest brother returned with a case full of shiny badges, Iggy packed her bags. She was off with Joltik by her side!
