Character Name: Nero Hohenheim
Pronoun Choice: He/Him
Age: 19
Home Region: Almia
Personality Overview: The only child of a Top Ranger from Almia and a Doctor Nero was raised to value both human life and wellbeing, and that of pokemon. He typically behaves in a calm and calculating manner, trying to find the best path to problem solving, but has a tendency to let a few victories get to his head over time. Overall he loves Pokémon and wants to see them happy and healthy, and will outwardly and openly confront anyone who is mistreating one. He wants to travel to this new land to prove himself as a Ranger in the only environment that matters, the field.
Five Likes:
A soft breeze
Pokémon moving around in nature
Gentle rain
Apples
A hammock under a shady tree
Five Dislikes:
Cars
Airplanes
Greasy food
Fur or Leather clothes, faux or otherwise
Fashion over Function concepts
Hobbies:
Camping
Hiking
Pokemon Watching
Three Strengths: (include an explanation for each)
Confidence: When your job is to help people, your methods are constantly questioned. Nero has learned to be confident in his actions and willing to defend them if needed.
Resilient Spirit: Rangers often find themselves in less than ideal situations, but they have to persevere. Be it hard weather, extended journeys, or a sudden and unfortunate change in the situation Nero's spirit is hard to break.
Empathy (for pokemon, at least): Communicating with wild pokemon is difficult to say the least, communicating with angry or panicked pokemon is practically impossible. So he has learned some tricks to try and identify the emotions, thought processes, and their source when it comes to pokemon to determine how best to help them.
Three Weaknesses: (include an explanation for each)
Technologically challenged: Batteries don't grow on trees, so Nero's intense focus on his work has caused him to all but disregard any device more complex than it is helpful.
Snowballing overconfidence: Once Nero starts succeeding, receiving praise, or otherwise receiving positive reinforcement for his actions he is prone to just assuming he's right about anything his initial instinct tells him.
Brutally honest: Nero is not the deceptive type. If he has a problem with something or is asked his opinion he will state it openly and directly. He is far from the type to beat around the bush and not everyone welcomes that sort of feedback.
History:
Auro and Joanne Hohenheim tried to raise a son that would share both of their determination and dedication to their passions, while leaving room for him to find his own way. Nero quickly found he preferred the outdoors immensely over stuffy or sterile hospitals full of sick people. He explored the forests and the mountains, the beaches and the tall grass, always in eyesight of his father or a nearby ranger. His path was obvious from a young age, and he's grown in to it well. Always eager for the next challenge, the next job, many times he's had to be told to calm down, and take a rest. Maybe that's why he was so excited to go to this new continent, and have the freedom to run himself in to the ground without external impulse control.
