Five Dislikes:
✘ rude people, especially those who chew loudly
✘ poison type pokemon, had a bad run in with one once
✘ things that require precision or extreme dexterity
✘ cold weather
✘ unnecessary remakes or sequels to movies
Hobbies:
Working out - what can he say, it feels good
jewelry making
beadwork - only really does chunkier things
knot tying - just because he's not the best doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy learning
Three Strengths:
Helpful - What can he say, Shale's strength is a strength. He's always lending a helping hand to his friends and neighbors, taking on as much as he can. He loves to help because he's strong and he's strong do he can help out more. You gotta be strong to carry the load. Plus he enjoys working out and feeling the differences he can make in himself.
Friendly - "A stranger is just a friend you haven't met yet," is Shale's philosophy. He treats everyone as a friend. That's not to say he's overbearing about it, he knows how to respect boundaries and back off when asked to. People are just so much more welcoming to friendly faces though.
Photographic memory - It's a win-win situation in his book. Shale never had to spend as much time studying or memorizing things to do well on tests. Plus it helps out if he doesn't have to constantly backtrack to reread info about the various minerals and ores he's trying to figure out.
Three Weaknesses:
Stubborn - Stubborn as a rock, his mother used to say. Once he gets something in his head it's hard to convince him he's wrong. He's got photographic memory you know, of course he remembers exactly how this is supposed to go! It's possible to wear down his resolve but sometimes it's not worth the effort. At least he's a good sport if you finally get him to see about it your way.
Overbearing - Perfect bodies need perfect workouts need perfect meals. Shale wants to take care of his friends, so of course he's going to worry about if you're taking good care of your body. Did you eat? Was it healthy? Have you slept lately, what about hydration? Have you taken your meds???? He just worries about you ok.
Lifelong injury - Shale had an accident when he was younger. Took a tumble and ended up breaking a lot of bones in his hand. They healed up enough that he didn't lose the use of his hand, but now he has a hard time doing delicate or precision work. Physical therapy helps but it can only do so much. Stormy weather and winter make his hand ache.
History:
Shale grew up in Stow-on-Side, surrounded by mountains and the market. His mother had a small business telling trinkets on the side but her main job was taking care of him and his five siblings. Their father works in Bea's fighting gym. Shale spent a good portion of his life exploring and studying the nearby mountains and ruins and forests. Anything to get out of the ever so slightly too small house. He's the second oldest, so he had a good hand helping out with his siblings.
Eventually he moved out, went to and graduated uni with a degree in geology. Evolutionary stones and even just shards and regular minerals and ores, he loves to know about them. He was sent to Nauwill to study the new minerals and stones and their peculiarities.
