Two twins, one who could walk unseen in the night and the other who's fur was as bright as the sun. So close were these two that they imagined they would be with one another always. Alas, a tragedy struck and the dark twin was left to roam alone. How will these siblings manage to go on without their twin around? What will push their paws forward? This is what you will be telling me.

This is a partner plot contest! Grab yourself a partner and tell me a story about the lives of these twins. What was the tragic tale of how the bright twin died? What are their plans for their futures - for even in death, a ghost's story doesn't end!

All members of the guild, staff, newbies and regulars alike, may join in on this contest, with the exception of me (belloblossom) as I will be judging the contest!
Only one user of the partnered pair needs to post the form below to be entered!

Opens: Oct 16th 2pm PST / 5pm EST
Closes: Oct 20th 11am PST / 2pm EST

In Life We...: The twins were kittypets who became loner/rogues, but predominantly resided near the twolegs. They were thick as thieves. Hemera was always the brains of the operation. Nyx was kinda the brute force who did usually get them in the most trouble. They both intend to eventually become clan cats from the stories they were told about the wild cats.
Tragic Backstory: They went to raid a garbage can and alerted a dog. Nyx watched Hemera get locked in the bin and could not rescue them. Hemera eventually suffocated and passed away while Nyx is left to return home alone

-----

Nyx and Hemera treated this night as if it was any other night. Raid, feast, return home. Nyx was as dark as the night, and Hemera was as bright as the sun. Together, they were unstoppable. Reaching the twoleg dens, Nyx stood watch, while Hemera left onto the twoleg stash of unwanted goods.

Hemera was ravenous and was using her nose to sniff it out. A chicken. It was near the bottom of the pile though, and L was small enough to dig his way through. Once Hemera managed to obtain the chicken, they tossed it out of the bin and it landed beside Nyx. However, they did not realize there was a dog in the yard.

The dog awoke at sound of the thud of the chicken, and smelled it as well. The smell of cat was strong, but they could not really see. But the smell was strong. Giving a bark to alert their twolegs, the dog went wild and started running over to the bins were Hemera was still in.

Nyx froze and grabbed the chicken. Hemera would be able to make it out later. They always did. They were wrong. With the dog's constant barks, the twolegs were summoned. They assumed it was the raccoons ransacking the bins as usual again. They put the lid back onto the bins and locked it up in the garage and brought the dog back in.

Hemera was stuck in the bin and could not get out. Not to mention locked in the garage. Nyx watched as Hemera got moved to a den and cried for them, trying to find a way to get in. There was no hope. Hemera slowly felt their breathing slow, and knew it was time. At least Nyx was still alive.

Guilt wracked Nyx for leaving her twin and finding out that Hemera passed. She should have stayed there, attempted to help or done something to be a distraction. It had been too long that Hemera had been away and they were never gone this long when the pair got separated. Despite the grief that haunted Nyx, she carried on. Its what Hemera would have wanted. Not for her to wallow in the self pity and she was not going to spit on Hemera's memory now. She would continue on, being more careful when trying to raid the twolegs for scraps.

Sometimes during the days that dragged on, she could almost feel her twin with her. As if guiding her from the grave. Not that she understood, but she would speak to Hemera as if she was still there amongst the living. Telling her about her days and nights. How she was doing. It was rough without her sister but she would manage to make it. If only there was a way she could feel her sister's presence for real instead of her imagination running wild.

Future Plans:

Nyx:
  • plans to enter a clan as Nightpaw and receive the warrior name Nightclaw
  • will recieve a spirit interaction badge (kovak will be cashing one out for Davy)
Hemera:
  • watches over Nyx from afar
  • has trouble finding Nyx once Nightpaw, but soon enough reunites

Bright Twin Name + Username: Heart / Pyrrh
In Life We...: Shadow was born frail and small, while Heart was born incredibly healthy. Despite this, as a kit, Shadow was rambunctious and often times got themselves into lots of trouble. Heart was always there to reign them back in and make sure they got home in one piece. The two were always close, even if Shadow hated how much Heart hovered, especially after they lost their mother at a young age. They had never known their father.

Heart was more capable and healthy, which gave them a slight complex. They thought of themself as invincible, especially when helping Shadow out of the sticky situations they got themself into.

Tragic Backstory:

Shadow was always the sickly one. They got the colds, they got the shivers, they were under developed in every way. Yet Heart always took care of them. Shadow often felt like a burden to their sibling, but Heart would reassure then that wasn't so. They were family, and nothing would break that bond. Not even when they were taken from the wild by Twolegs.

They lived together for quite some time. The Twolegs did whatever they could to keep then safe and fed. Shadow actually started to somehow regain life they previously didn't have. They were catching up to Heart in size and strength. Soon enough, they could both race after each other and tumble about. As much as they missed being outside, they were both just super grateful that Shadow got healthy.

Until the day Heart got sick.

The Twolegs rushed Heart to the vet, hoping to find out what had made them so sick. Shadow was brought along as well, in case whatever it was the darker cat had was affecting the lighter cat.

As far as they could tell, it was entirely different. Shadow was cured of whatever had afflicted them, but Heart was suffering of some sort of... heart condition. The Twolegs started to baby Heart more, forcing sickly tasting medicine down their throat, and Shadow was forced to be the stronger one. Especially as they watched their sibling start to wither away in a similar fashion to how they had been before.

Heart wasn't sick for long, barely becoming an adult before they passed from their condition. Shadow was devastated, convinced they had somehow passed along their sickness instead of being cured. It was like they were being punished for allowing themselves to be taken in by Twolegs. It was a cruel fate, making the sick strong, and the strong sick. Leaving them alone in opposite worlds they never saw themselves growing up to see. Shadow was certain Heart would live forever, while they withered into the unknown. Yet fate chose differently.

Future Plans:
Shadow is likely to leave Kittypet life and wander aimlessly for a bit. Heart will follow and watch over Shadow, and hopefully help them with their grief over feeling like they caused their siblings death.

Bright Twin Name + Username: Starlight + @Blinded By Silence
In Life We...: To say these two were inseparable would be an understatement. Midnight, ever the devoted sister, spent near every moment doting on her smaller, weaker brother. Starlight, well, he didn't have much choice in the matter. He tired easily and was often nest-ridden with some kind of sickness. Without his sister, he knows he would have died far sooner than he did. While grateful for her care, in life, the constant attention grated on Star and often made him feel helpless and irritable.

Tragic Backstory: It never really happens on a dark and stormy night, like the stories say. No, Starlight remembered his last day as bright, warm, and full of sunshine. A perfect day to go hunting. But Midnight bore that worried look on her face, hesitant to leave his side, even as her own stomach ached to be full. He insisted she go out and enjoy with nice weather, catch some mice, who knows, maybe even talk to someone other than him for once. Star remembered the flicker of hurt in her eyes as he literally pushed her out of their nest. He'd never forget that look, even if he wandered this earth for a thousand moons.

As soon as she had gone, he deflated, tired and aching. Truthfully, though he would never admit it, even to himself, he hated the quiet. And so, with what little strength he had, he carried himself to the river. He settled onto a warm sunlight rock and slipped back into sleep.

He wonders if he had known that he wouldn't wake up. If that was why he'd been trying to push Midnight further and further away. To prepare her. But he doesn't truly think so. If he had known, he would have given her a kinder goodbye. Maybe any of the thanks that she deserved.

Future Plans: After her brother's death, Midnight is entirely lost. She has no idea how to be alone. What is her purpose now that the other half of her is gone? Desperate for companionship, perhaps this she-cat ends up finding comfort in the wrong kinds of cats. Or maybe a clan? Either way, Starlight will spend the rest of his unlife following his sister, watching over her as she did for him. He wants nothing more than to tell her how much he loves her and how much her attention meant to him, despite how he acted.
