A new day had dawned and with it came the restlessness that seemed to plague the males in the Marco family. When he woke, the only thing that made the tingling in his legs stop was lacing up his hiking boots and stepping out the front door. With his satchel on his shoulder and Brook's Pokeball on his belt, he was eager to start exploring this new island.

The Newbreeze Grasslands were a stunning sea of grasses, rippling gold and green with scattered clumps of low trees. Farren took a deep breath, holding the sea air tightly in his lungs before releasing it in a woosh of excitement. He gripped his bag strap and set out on his first adventure.

A sour scent leads you to a foul discovery: the remains of some long-dead pokémon, mostly devoured by whatever scavengers have come across it. While its life is long over, the rotting carcass seems to be fostering some other new life, as the nearby area is adorned with fruiting mushrooms. You can take some if you can tolerate the smell. It didn't take him long to find something interesting. Well, Brook for sure would have found it interesting, Farren was less enthused. He loved finding bones here and there, but this? His nose wrinkled at the smell as he looked down on the Murkrow food half-buried in the sand. Huh. It was missing its head, he noted, wondering if the skull Brook had found yesterday had belonged to this poor creature. Skirting the natural crime scene, he missed the mushrooms entirely and continued on his way.

Hm, unfortunate. He had decided to walk away from the shoreline and seemed to have stumbled his way into a flooded inlet. The marshy wetland squelched beneath his boots, a few times trying to take his foot from him. He hefted and pulled his way back toward the shore and, hopefully, more solid ground.

The plains are harder to move around in than you expected in this area, as there's some particularly thick brush under the already dense foliage. -1 Energy.

Along the shore, Farren looked up at the wide blue sky, spying some flying type Pokemon far above. He daydreamed a little, wondering what they were. Something entirely new to be discovered? Or a well-known species migrating across the earth?

"I should get a bird at some point," He said to himself, "Imagine the view from up there."

A flock of some unknown pokémon flies far overhead, their voices drifting faintly down to you on the ground below. Their silhouettes slowly fade out of sight, their destination someplace far away.

His peaceful daydreaming was interrupted by a sudden beeping. Farren looked down at his tracker and saw it flashing, warning him of the nearing border. He sighed heavily; if they were here to explore this region, why limit how far they could go? Safety, he assumed. Bah. He shifted his bag and turned around. It was getting late anyway.

You turn back - if not for worry of your safety, then most certainly for worry of the fines and potential expulsion associated with a breach of exploration agreement!

By the time he was drawing back within sight of the town, the tide had risen, pushing Farren back into the thick grass which tangled his boots. It was slow going, but he persevered. He decided to head for higher ground.

His calves burned as he panted his way up the hill before him. Climbing to the top, he gasped, taken in by the view. This alone had made the day worth it, in his mind.
