How to Learn a Spell
To learn a new spell, a Kitsusagi will need to study, practice, or otherwise do something related to the spell they are trying to learn. This needs to be an RP, though it does not have to be a solo RP, so long as you meet the requirements. For example, if your Kitsu is a Druid trying to learn a nature-based Spell, the general RP could be about them wandering nature and looking at different plants, etc, with dice rolls to get the required number of successes. We consider a completed RP to be at least 500 words.

Any Kitsusagi may learn Spells, not only those of the Mage class! They are a fairly magical species, after all. Mages, specifically, will sometimes be able to learn certain Spells easier, this will be noted in the Spell's description.

Current Spells that are able to be learned are listed in the next post, along with a description and the requirements to learn them. Keep in mind that some Spells cannot be learned until your stats have been increased, as they are more powerful. Other Spells may require a certain stat to be above a specific number, or for your Kitsu to be a certain Class - look close at requirements! Once you have completed the requirements for a specific Spell, please post the following form in this thread. After that, note the Spell in your Den and you may use it in RP and battles!

I have an idea for a Spell not listed... can I use my idea?
Maybe! Please run any ideas by Seimei to determine if it works. If so, we will add it to the list, and then you may use it.

Please remember all Level spells are subject to kitsu level spell casting restrictions. So if you are level one all level one spells may only be cast once in battle and up to three times a day​
Level one
  • Lvl 1 spell: 1 per battle, up to 3 times per day.
Level two
  • Lvl 1 spell: 2 per battle, up to 4 times per day.

Level Three
  • Lvl 1 spell: 3 per battle, up to 5 times per day.
  • Lvl 2 spell: 1 per battle, up to 3 times per day.

Level Four
  • Lvl 1 spell: 4 per battle, up to 6 times per day.
  • Lvl 2 spell: 2 per battle, up to 4 times per day.

Level Five
  • Lvl 1 spell: 4 per battle, up to 6 times per day.
  • Lvl 2 spell: 2 per battle, up to 4 times per day.
  • Lvl 3 spell: 1 per battle, up to 3 times per day.

Level One (or Starting Stats) Spells

Weak Telekinesis
(any Kitsu can learn)
This Spell allows a Kitsu to pick up or otherwise manipulate anything weighing 5lbs or less.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu simply... trying to use the Spell, in whatever way they want to do so.
This skill takes one full move in battle as Other (neither attack or defend)
Duration out of battle 5 min

Resistance
(Phy Stat must be 3 or above)
This Spell allows the Kitsu to negate one point of physical damage per casting. To learn, please train to resist damage by battling either solo (against a beast) or with another Kitsu.
To successfully learn the spell, your Kitsu must get down to exactly 1 HP without going to 0.
This skill takes one full move in battle as Other (neither attack or defend) Effect will be used on next hit with kitsu is struck and does not take up turn. (effect and turn together)
Duration out of battle 1 hour

Daze
(Men or Soc Stat must be 3 or above)
This Spell dazes one target opponent, making them unable to attack their next turn. They may still defend, or heal, as well as using any abilities or Spells of their own that are not an attack.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu trying out different ways to daze an opponent. This can be a solo RP, or one where they practice against another Kitsu.
This skill takes one full move in battle as Other (neither attack or defend)
Duration out of battle 1/2 hour

Elemental Assault
(Kitsu must be a Mage or Druid)
This Spell shoots a ray of a certain natural element (must be chosen when the Spell is chosen) at an opponent once per casting, causing them to take 3 damage - it does not have to be rolled, just declared. Available elements are, Water, Frost, Fire, Lightning, or Wind.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu going to an area where their selected element is common and surviving one day without special tools, clothing, etc.
This skill takes one full move in battle as Attack (neither other or defend)
Duration out of battle instant can be negated with skills or abilities allowing dodge.

Ghost Sound
(Kitsu must be a Nightmare or Bard)
This Spell causes illusionary sounds to emit from an area of the Kitsu's choice, perhaps causing a distraction. The Kitsu casting this Spell may add two extra dice to a Mental or Social roll meant as a distraction in battle.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu practicing making distracting noises and 'throwing their voice' - eventually it can become a magical effect!
This skill takes one full move in battle as Other (neither attack or defend)

Create Water
(Kitsu must be a Druid or Cleric)
This Spell instantly creates up to 2 gallons of water starting at a point the Kitsu chooses within 10 feet of them.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu studying water in whatever way they choose.
This skill takes one full move in battle as Other (neither attack or defend)
Duration out of battle 1/2 hour

Stabilize
(Kitsu must be a Druid, Cleric or Alchemist)
This Spell gives a Kitsu that is touched 1 point of HP, usually it's used in an emergency situation where the target Kitsu would faint/die/etc if it was not used.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu studying some form of first aid or medical care.
This skill takes one full move in battle as Other (neither attack or defend)

Message
(Kitsu must be a Bard or Mage)
This Spell allows your Kitsu to send a telepathic message to up to 5 other Kitsu that are within 50 feet of them.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu attempting to use telepathy in whatever way you choose.

Borrow Skill
(Kitsu must be a Bard)
This Spell allows a Kitsu to use another willing Kitsu's Stat/dice pool for one action on the Spell user's next turn.
To learn, please do a partner RP with another Kitsu where your Kitsu is practicing borrowing their skill(s).
This skill takes one full move in battle as Other (neither attack or defend)
Duration out of battle instant

Disguise Self
(Kitsu must be a Rogue, Bard, or Alchemist and Soc Stat must be 3 or above)
This Spell instantly disguises your Kitsu as a different Kitsu - changing mostly simple things such as fur or hair color, or clothing and iconic items your Kitsu may be know to carry. It lasts for up to 10 minutes at a time.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu creating and putting on various disguises made from more mundane materials.
This skill takes one full move in battle as Other (neither attack or defend)
Duration out of battle 4 hour

Blur
(Kitsu must be a Fighter or Rogue)
This Spell causes a blurring effect around your Kitsu, causing an opponent to lose one die on their next physical attack against you.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu moving about and dodging some form of attack very quickly.

Thunderstomp
(Kitsu must be a Fighter and/or have a Phy Stat of 4 or above)
This Spell allows the Kitsu using it to jump or stomp the ground so hard that an opponent loses their next turn. The target of the Spell cannot take any actions on their next turn that they would need to move to perform.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu practicing using this Spell in whatever way you choose.

Create Light
(Kitsu must be an Angelic, Mage, or Cleric)
This Spell creates a bright hovering light over an area that lasts until that Kitsu's next turn - the light is bright enough to give Angelic Kitsu bonuses, and Nightmare Kitsu negatives because of their species traits.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu observing and studying different forms of light.
This skill takes one full move in battle as Other (neither attack or defend)
Duration out of battle 4 hour

Create Darkness
(Kitsu must be a Nightmare or Rogue)
This Spell cancels out bright lights in an area, plunging it into darkness. The effect lasts until the casting Kitsu's next turn - the darkness is deep enough to give Nightmare Kitsu bonuses and Angelic Kitsu negatives because of their species traits.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu studying observing and darkness in whatever way you choose.

Guard From Harm
(Kitsu must be a Fighter or Cleric)
This Spell allows the Kitsu to take on damage that a willing target Kitsu would take - so the Fighter or Cleric takes the damage instead. To use the Spell, the Kitsu must choose a target on their turn, and the next time that Kitsu would take damage, the casting Kitsu takes it instead.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu protecting others in some way, with the intent of learning the Spell.

Ear-Piercing Scream
(Kitsu must be a Nightmare or Bard)
This Spell does exactly what it sounds like, the volume and shrillness of the scream actually causes damage to an opponent Kitsu. The target of the Scream takes 3 points of damage to their HP, no rolls required from the casting Kitsu.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu .... screaming. A lot.

Weak Magic Missile
(Kitsu must be a Mage)
This Spell causes one bolt of magical energy to strike an opponent, dealing 3 points of damage automatically.

Entangle
(Kitsu must be a Druid)
This Spell causes plants, roots, or other vegetation in the area to grasp at and tangle an opponent's limbs, making them get stuck in place. The targeted Kitsu cannot do anything that requires them to move on their next turn.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu studying plants, roots, etc in nature.

Ghost Message
(Kitsu must be a Ghost)
This spell allows a kitsu to Cast their voice across the veil of death and can be heard by the living. Kitus may only use 100 words and words must all be used at once. if words are not used they do not stack.
To learn Rp your kitsu wanting to talk to a living kitsu and being unable to.
This skill takes one full move in battle as Other (neither attack or defend)

Ghostly Noise
(Kitsu must be a Ghost)
This spell allows a ghost to cast eiree noises in an area and all kitsu in 100ft of that area take a negative -2 mental dice when in that range. sounds last for 1 hour
To learn Rp your kitsu wanting to scare a living kitsu
This skill takes one full move in battle as Other (neither attack or defend)
Duration out of battle instant sounds last for 1 hour

Ghost lights
(Kitsu must be a Ghost)
This spell allows a ghost to cast illusions to any area in sight for them. Illusions will last for an hour out of battle and make all living kitsu in sight of the illusion take a -2 to all social rolls while they can see the illusion. Does not work on blind kitsu as they can not see.
To learn Rp your kitsu wanting to show a living kitsu something and being unable to.
This skill takes one full move in battle as Other (neither attack or defend)
Duration out of battle instant Illusions will last for an hour

Dead Speech
(Kitsu must be a Shaman)
This spell allows a kitsu to Cast their voice across the veil of death and can be heard by the Dead. Kitus may only use 100 words and words must all be used at once. if words are not used they do not stack.

Healing Song
(Kitsu must be a Bard, Cleric, Devote of the gods)
One targeted Kitsu may heal 1d6 and may heal that rolled number. May be used on self or others
To learn please RP your Kitsu assisting others in healing at least three different kinds of wounds

(any Kitsu can learn who has learned weaker Telekinesis )
This Spell allows a Kitsu to pick up or otherwise manipulate anything weighing 10lbs or less.

Elemental Enchantment
(Kitsu must be a Mage level 3 or above)
Grants a plus 1 damage to any weapon that will last for one full battle. Damage is elemental based that must be specified when learning the spell. weapons may only carry one elemental enchantment at a time. may be used on multiple weapons in a battle.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu trying to use the item and wanting and struggling with it an and element at the same time. example putting out a fire with a blanket or attacking with a red hot frying pan or trying to attack while on ice with a spear etc...

Tailor Twist
(any Kitsu can learn)
this spell repairs damaged cloth or light armor including hide armor does not affect metal armors or products. As long as the item is only torn and not destroyed it can be repaired. if there are missing pieces less then 1 foot they will be filled in with the magic over a foot will remain missing.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu trying to mend or repair cloth or light armor
This skill takes one full move in battle as Other (neither attack or defend) and may only be used once in battle

Sense life
(Kitsu must be a Mage, Druid or Cleric)
This spell allows the user to sense any life form for 100 ft of self and they will be silhouetted by a a red aura for 60 seconds to user only. Does not work on magical constructs or mechanical/inanimate constructs.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu tracking or studying life forms for a day
This skill takes one full move in battle as Other (neither attack or defend)

Elemental Manipulation
(Kitsu must be a Druid, Mage, or Devote of the gods)
This Spell allows a kitsu to bend an existing element for up to 5ft around them. Element must exist and amount of element will not change. (A candle will not become a roaring fire unless you move a candle bit onto kindling so it can grow) when attacking it causes enemies to take 4 damage
To learn, please RP your Kitsu studying the element and surviving in it for a week.

Bomb Banger
(Kitsu must be a Rogue, Bard or Alchemist)
This spell allows the user to form a small bomb that does 1d6 damage when thrown at a target. It can be handed off to another kitsu to throw and will disapear on it's own without going off if not used in an hour or 3 turns in battle
To learn, please RP your Kitsu trying to .. blow something up and learning to form this small magical bomb when unable to do so with other meathods

Preemptive Defense
(Kitsu must be a Fighter, Rogue or Alchemist)
This spell allows a fighter or alchemist to think quickly their feet and find natural cover that blocks the next attack coming at them thus negating it's damage.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu being attacked and not doging but deflecting or blocking attacks
This skill takes one full move in battle as Defend (neither attack or other)
Duration out of battle instant to find the cover under 2 min to get to it.

Magic Missile
(Kitsu must be a Mage level 3 or above)
This Spell causes one bolt of magical energy to strike an opponent, dealing 5 points of damage automatically.

This spell may be used one per day in or out of battle and it refreshes all abilities and slots for one target kitsu.

Swift Strike
(Kitsu must be a rouge or fighter)
Up to three creatures of your choice you can see within the range must make physical saving throws if a Target fails to make the throw roll a D4 of damage as your kitsu rushes by and strikes them in a series of chain attacks. may only target each creature one time in the chain, only up to three creatures.
To learn, please RP attacking multiple creatures at one time.

You may sing a song that buffs three other ktisu within 50ft with either a plus one to Physical, Mental or social until the end of battle. May only be used once in battle and buffed stat must be declared when used. (They get a plus one dice to said stat until the end of battle)
To learn, please RP singing a song and making others feel uplifted in some way.

You cast a single word that does 1d6 damage to up to three creatures in a 20ft range. Does not work if Target is on dead, inanimate, has no ears or is deaf

Bloodthirsty
(Kitsu must be a Nightmare or fighter)
One targeted creature becomes hungry for battle and will not be able to think or cast spells but can only attack in a mad frenzy. Targeted kitsu will attack anything near it. Friend or foe. Target kitsu may make a mental roll to try and prevent spell from effecting them but must beat your success for spell casting

Divine or Infernal?
(Kitsu must be a Druid or cleric)
Make a social roll if successful against another kitsu's social roll you will be able to detect whether or not the kitsu is infernal or celestial. Breed can not be told but it will get past disguise. Only works on one kitsu at at time. only the caster can tell infernal or celestial.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu dealing with disguised kitsu and trying to figured out who they are.

Detect Magic
(any level 3 Kitsu can learn)
Detect Magic making a mental roll you will be able to detect whether or not one object been focused upon is magical or not. Does not work on kitsu but only on magical enchantments does not detect the work from gods, does detected enlightened magic
To learn, please RP your Kitsu tinkering with an enchanted object and figuring out it is magic

Detect poison
(Kitsu must be a Kirin or Alchemist)
Detect poisonous or poisoned creature disease within 30 feet of you you identify the kind of poison/poisonous creature and in each case if you are familiar with them you can recognize them if you are not familiar with them you may tell that they are poisoned or poisonous and differentiate between the two You can tell the creature is poisonous as well as poisoned and that they are different poisons

Ensnaring Blow
(Kitsu must be a Druid)
Next time you hit a creature a writhing mass of thorny vines appears at point of impact target and are restrained by the magical vines for three turns.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu attacking and struggling with an opponent getting away.
This skill happens with your attack turn must be declared with attack and does not negate the damage done from the attack. If attack hits they are restrained. if attack misses they are not and spell is wasted and counts as a use.
Duration in battle may be used multiple times, thorns last three rounds in battle and last 4 hours outside of battle

Bold as Brass
(Kitsu must be a Fighter or cleric)
Imbuing another with a strong fighting spirit. Touch another kitsu during battle and give them 2 temporary hit points that least until the end of battle. Targeted kitsu also negated any fear effects including cowardness for three turns.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu relishing a battle and wanting to share that feeling with another

Rangers Mark
(Kitsu must be a Druid or Rouge)
You choose a creature you can see within range and mystically Mark your prey. Quarry must be within 50 feet of you until spell ends you deal extra D4 damage to the Target whenever you hit it with a weapon. Only your kitsu can see this mark that shines through clothes on target and is easier to follow
To learn, please RP your Kitsu tracking a specific target for a few hours.

Duration out of battle instant Mark lasts 4 rounds in battle and will last 6 hours outside of battle
Smooth Fur
(Kitsu must be a Fighter or Tundra)
fluffy and soft fur becomes magically enchanted to help deflect attacks. +1 success to defense rolls for next three turns in battle. Kitus may only cast on themselves.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu taking meticulous care of their precious fur

Surprise kick
(Kitsu must be a Rouge or Fauna)
Swift single strike doing 1d6 damage

Sticky fingers
(Kitsu must be a Rouge or bard)
Plus one success on theft and disarm next turn. May disarm a kitsu in battle or steal an item from them. If item gives the kitsu a bonus it becomes a bonus for your kitsu unless it a bonded blessing from a deity. Enchanted weapons remain enchanted.

Bloom specialty
(Kitsu must be a Druid or alchemist)
Kitus uses magic or alchemical potions to harden a plant and make a plant into a weapon capable of doing damage in battle. Weapon gives plus one to kitsu using it. it turns soft again after battle is done or four hours after battle is done. Plant is not safe to eat after this is done to plant.
To learn, please RP your Kitsu growing and tending to a plant

Tactical fighter
(Kitsu must be a fighter or kitsu with 6 mental)
Studying and targeting weak spots is smart in battle. +1 success on next two attacks

Misdirecting Scent
(Kitsu must be a Alchemist)
Alchemist may drop scents that confuse an enemy and make enemy take -1 dice on next three turns for attacking.

Death touch
(Kitsu must be a Shaman or Ghost)
The lingering touch of death is something that can be harmful to the living. Shaman's can harness this power as well. This spell allows a kitsu to attack and deal 1d6 damage to a target.

Death Bringer
(Kitsu must be a Shaman or Alchemist)
This spell allows a shaman to spread death to vegetation in an area of 30ft around them
This will affect plants that have been picked and are being transported as well. They will wilt and wither. The spell caster can use that life energy they have taken and gain 1 temporary life point. can be used multiple times in battle

Ghost Shield
(Kitsu must be a Ghost)
This spell allows a Ghost to act as a sheild for living kitsu and take the attack in place of a living kitsu by standing in front of them and taking the attack. When this happens the kitsu they are defending will see a vague outline of the Ghost defending them.
To learn RP your kitsu following a living kitsu around for a day
This skill takes one full move in battle as Defend (neither Other or Attack)

An Ear for Erie
(Kitsu must be a Shaman or Devote of the Gods)
This spells allows your kitsu to feel if a ghost is within 50ft of them for 1 hour. They can not see them or hear them but can 'feel' a ghost's presence
To learn RP your kitsu checking out some creepy areas.
