Private rp for Alder Shulbari and probably Raja
Having been chased from her own homeland Alder ended up in the least likely place, HallowOak. And now some hothead wanted to fight? Barbaric. She had scoffed only to be greeted by another. One calling himself Raja. Yes her clothes were tattered. "I... don't understand. " she looked a little dazed at Raja (edited)

robbedragon2/1/24, 9:41 PM
"Honey, you have the perfect curves and you should accentuate them." Raja called over his shoulders. "I have the cutest outfit that will work perfectly for your figure. Come on." he instructed and continued walking towards the village and his home. Shulbari was still on the ground whimpering, moaning and groaning when two large labor guild workers picked him up and carried him to the care ward for treatment. Nobody moved to stop Alder because, honestly, Shulbari has been asking for an ass beating for a while.
Swamp Siren2/1/24, 9:49 PM
With a sigh she pulled the tattered cloak closer to her frame and followed with her head down. The brute was asking for it. He started it. She just defended herself. Her body aches. Everything was a blur. She remembered running, the sting of branches slapping her face as she tried to get to safety. The fear that welled up in her as she found on herself on the very edge of a cliff. Then falling. Cold water. Then waking up on a strange land and bright sun. "Where is this?" (edited)
robbedragon2/1/24, 10:04 PM
"This is the village of HollowOak." Raja explained as he walked. "Obviously, you're far from wherever you called home but, I'll explain things as best as I can. I just can't let you wander around in rags. You'll come to my place and I'll get you into something better. While we do that, I'll answer your questions and you can answer mine." he rambled, excited at the prospects of getting to dress her up.
Swamp Siren2/1/24, 10:09 PM
"I'm.... Alder." She mumbled as she followed. She squinted trying to djust to the light. She was far more used to the darkness. "HollowOak..... the Homia...."
robbedragon2/1/24, 10:13 PM
Raja turned to look at her as he walked backwards. "Yes, we're the homia and, based off pictures I've seen, I take it you're a dalvis?" he questioned. "The books made you seem more like ugly beasts with massive teeth and claws but, girl, you are beautiful. The light shining off those beautiful black scales...." he paused to look her over. "Sweetheart, I may need you to model all my outfits for me from now on cause you are working what you were given."

Swamp Siren2/2/24, 7:58 AM
Pushing back her hood Alder let her long hair tumble from where she had it basically stuffed in there. The light played off her white hair streaked with dark blueish grey. "You're assuming I'll be allowed to stay."
robbedragon2/2/24, 10:11 AM
"The elders have to make that decision. Just be on your best behavior and they'll let you. They didn't kick the Alvia out despite a lot of protests." Raja assured her and then he turned back around just as they neared his house. He opened the door and swung it open. "TADA~" he announced proudly. Inside was fabric and outfits galore stacked, folded hung and pretty much taking up every free space he had. It was clear that Raja spent more time working on clothes than anything else and may have been a bit of a recluse.
Swamp Siren2/2/24, 10:19 AM
Stepping inside she eyed the stacks. "You..... you made all of this?"
robbedragon2/2/24, 10:24 AM
Raja blushed a bit but was smiling, "Yeah, I have a lot of free time on my hands. I supply the village with clothes but, they tend to like things rough and easy to toss away if they get torn or too dirty so, a lot of my more elegant outfits just kinda sit around. Every once in a while a man or woman will ask for something for a date and I get to show off my work but, most of the time, it's like the equivalent of throwing a burlap sack on someone in my eyes but, I'd hate for a fisherman to get fish guts all over my good stuff." he explained with a bit of a shrug.
Swamp Siren2/2/24, 10:43 AM
Walking over to a stack she touched the fabric. "You have a good eye....." Smiling she looked back, "And I will try to behave. But I will defend myself. That Shull-bar-ee you spoke of seems to be a dumb brute. " she purred the name in a strange accent.
robbedragon2/2/24, 11:05 AM
The way she said Shulbari 's name made Raja giggle. "He's not usually this bad. I actually used to look up to him. Even had a crush on him if I'm being honest. He's just a very protective guy and the village has been through a lot the last year or so. Problem is, it's been natural disasters and it's impossible to protect the village from something you can't punch like a hurricane, earthquakes, droughts, floods and blizzards so Shulbari is lashing out at strangers and placing blame on someone he can punch. Show him you don't mean to harm the village and he'll warm up to you eventually and, if he gets too rowdy, kick him again." he explained, giving another playful giggle. "Easiest way to earn his trust is to go out of your way to help a villager in need. Even if it's one of the Alvia. He won't admit it but Shulbari's protective nature extends to anyone the elders allow in, even if his words say otherwise. He's had the opportunity to attack the Alvia we accepted but he hasn't done more than talk and rile up a bunch of brutes." As he spoke, he pulled a piece of string with lines marked on it out and started measuring Alder.
Swamp Siren2/2/24, 11:09 AM
"Then I will do as you say." She sighed, "As long as I am here any way. Which may be a while. I'm nit sure how to get back home.... or if I even should."
robbedragon2/2/24, 11:19 AM
Raja pushed her arm up and measured her across the shoulders. "Hmmm... I'll need to make some adjustments to comfortably accommodate that tail of yours but I have a good starting outfit for you to wear until I make something a little more protective. At the very least, it will give you something to wear when you meet with the elders. With your fighting ability, you could help the hunters but you'd be dealing with Shulbari on a daily basis."
Swamp Siren2/2/24, 11:25 AM
She grinned showing slightly pointed canine teeth, "It might be a good challenge. And will prove I mean no harm by by working willingly with one who attacked me." She allowed Raja to measure her, "I'm pretty good at tracking and scouting. "
robbedragon2/2/24, 1:21 PM
"Good!" Raja exclaimed. He knew very little about hunting but, he could fake it a bit. He'd dated one of the hunter guild guys in secret for a while so he picked up a bit of the lingo. He rushed over and found a two piece outfit. "This is a little bit more revealing but I think it will be easier to wear with your scales and tail." he explained. "You're going to have to strip off those rags while I prepare a tub of hot water for you to bathe in."
Swamp Siren2/2/24, 1:36 PM
Pulling off the cloak she tossed it to the floor. "Is there any where in particular I can change."
robbedragon2/2/24, 3:13 PM
"Oh, if you need privacy, there's a wooden privacy screen over there but don't worry. I've seen plenty of naked women and they don't interest me. They all look the same to me." Raja assured her. "I mean, you're definitely different but it wouldn't interest me in the slightest."
Swamp Siren2/2/24, 4:22 PM
Not knowing is she should feel reassured or insulted, Alder removed her clothes but still used them to cover up. A hot bath sounded wonderful as she felt aches in places she didn't think possible
robbedragon2/2/24, 5:11 PM
Raja set to work filling a wooden tub with hot water. Most of the villagers used a bucket and rag to clean themselves but Raja loved a good soak and had commissioned the builders to craft him a large tub to do so with. "Here you go!" he announced. "Take a soak and relax for a bit. I'm sure the journey here has to be pretty rough. There's soap and a cloth to scrub with and your outfit will be right here." he added.
Swamp Siren2/2/24, 5:29 PM
Walking over she drooped the clothes and slid in. A sigh left her as the water caressed her sore. "Thank you Rah Jah. " her purring accent rolled, "I've needed this. It has been a hard trek here."
robbedragon2/2/24, 5:55 PM
Raja giggled, "Your accent is so adorable." He gathered up her dirty and tattered rags and moved them over to a pile. He'd clean them up and try to salvage the fabric later but, for now, they were trash in his eyes.
Swamp Siren2/2/24, 7:15 PM
Washing her self clean she could see dust and dirt come away from her scales, leaving them a darker black with a brighter shine, "Is it? This is normal for me, everyone talks this way at Starglow."
robbedragon2/2/24, 8:37 PM
"There will be a lot of things different between here and your home." Raja figured, leaning back on a small desk. "I'll help where I can but, to be honest, the culture shock might be a bit much. If you need anything, ask me and I'll do my best." he assured her.
Swamp Siren2/2/24, 8:44 PM
Leaning back she slumped, "If I am allowed to stay here by the elser, I will need a home."
robbedragon2/2/24, 11:17 PM
"You're welcome to stay here..." Raja suggested. "At least until you get a place of your own, anyways."
Swamp Siren2/2/24, 11:44 PM
"I wouldn't want to impose on you Rah Jah." Getting out of the tub she wrapped a towel around herself
robbedragon2/3/24, 1:35 PM
"It's not really much of an imposition, honestly." Raja promised her and then he held up the outfit for her. "I actually wouldn't mind the company to be honest. I'm a bit of an oddball around this village."
Swamp Siren2/3/24, 5:08 PM
"I see noh'ting wrong with you." Taking the clothes she dressed, admiring the quality and design. "You really do have a goid eye for fashion." Letting down her hair Alder ran her fingers through it.
robbedragon2/3/24, 7:42 PM
"Most of the men in this town are all about being big, burly macho men. Guys like me..." Raja paused and shook his head. "Let's just say weaker guys like me aren't useful for much. Although, there's plenty of those big burly guys with skeletons in their closet, if you catch my drift."
Swamp Siren2/3/24, 8:42 PM
"You don't have to be big and burly to be useful." she motioned to herself, "I was able knock out that Shull-bar-ee. Size does not matter. Skill. That matters"
robbedragon2/3/24, 11:40 PM
"Yeah, that's not what I mean..." Raja said with a chuckle. "The thing is, I like men. I'm not ashamed of that but, it's not exactly a common trait around here. Most of the men look down on me and a few others like me because of it. At least, they look down on us in public but, I've had more than a few quick flings in dark alleys and beds their wives or girlfriends weren't warming at the time. People don't like different and, even if they themselves are, they tend to hide it for fear of that same judgment. Over time, you get used to it and you just grow thicker skin." he explained.
Swamp Siren2/4/24, 11:08 AM
"That is a shame. They are missing out. I can only imagine the kindness you would give a lover. Considering how you have treated me."
robbedragon2/4/24, 11:40 AM
"Yeah, well, it's partially my fault..." Raja admitted. "My tunnel vision kinda blinded me and put Shulbari up on a pedestal but, after the way he's been acting, I'm starting to see him for the jerk he is. Too bullheaded to listen to reason and, to make matters worse, I'm not even sure he even swings my way. He used to be nice to me when others weren't. Even came to my defence a few years back and beat up these six guys that cornered me and were bullying me. Nobody has ever stood up for me before so I thought it was because he liked me but, now I'm just thinking it's because I was part of his village and therefore, under his protection."
Swamp Siren2/4/24, 12:13 PM
"I do not believe it is you Rah Jah. And you may think he is great this Shul- Bar- Ee, but he may not be fir you." Patting his arm gently, "Perhaps we can help each other. This way I do not feel I am a burden. But rather try to earn my own keep."
robbedragon2/4/24, 12:49 PM
"Oh, don't worry. Everyone in the village carries their own weight." Raja assured her with a soft smile. "The elders will put you to work."
Swamp Siren2/4/24, 6:23 PM
"I don't mind working." Alder absently ran a hand over some cloth. "I do hope I didn't hurt Shul-Bar-Ee....."
robbedragon2/4/24, 6:25 PM
Raja chuckled, "I wouldn't worry too much about Shulbari. He's a lot tougher than he looks and he'll probably be up trying to kick your ass before tomorrow." He stopped and shook his head, "Don't hold his attitude against him. I can promise you that, if they elders say you can stay, he will treat you differently. Maybe not the most friendly but he won't attack you again."
Swamp Siren2/4/24, 6:37 PM
Yawning she nodded, "Thank you Rah Jah. For being so kind to me."
robbedragon2/7/24, 3:44 PM
"Don't mention it." Raja chuckled. "We weirdos have to look out for one another. Besides, if you really are a big scary Dalvis who is going to cover the world in darkness, I'd rather stay on your good side." he joked.
Swamp Siren2/11/24, 12:06 AM
"I'm honestly not that bad......"
robbedragon2/11/24, 12:08 AM
"Oh, please, girl..." Raja chuckled. "If I put stock in every myth, legend, rumor and paranoid murmur these small-headed villagers spread, I'd be in a world of trouble."
Swamp Siren2/11/24, 12:18 AM
Chucking Alder started to yawn. "Sorry....."
robbedragon2/11/24, 12:20 AM
"Get some sleep, Alder." Raja offered, patting the bed. "I'm sure you've been through quite the ordeal. In the morning, I'll take you on a quick tour of the village and then we'll go see the elders."
Swamp Siren2/12/24, 9:04 AM
She slowly nodded then made herself as comfortable as she could. It was weird sleeping in someone else's bed. Curl8ng her tail over herself she nestled down snd drifted off
robbedragon2/12/24, 11:15 AM
Raja made his way over to a cushion on the floor by the door, gathered up a blanket and quickly went to sleep.
Swamp Siren2/12/24, 2:59 PM
As morning came Alder woke to blinding lights. Blinking bleary-eyed she looked to the window. "Its..... so bright."
robbedragon2/12/24, 3:26 PM
The sound started Raja and he jerked awake, not used to having guests stay the whole night. "Hmmm?" he looked around anxiously before remembering the events of the prior night. "Oh... Yeah.... It's called sunlight. Are you not used to seeing the sun?"
Swamp Siren2/12/24, 8:02 PM
Shading her eyes with the back of her hand, "No. The tree canopy is so dense the light never reaches the floor."
robbedragon2/12/24, 8:08 PM
"Oh!" Raja realized she might be too sensitive to the light and he quickly drew the curtains. "Sorry..." he murmured. "You'll need time to adjust to that, then."
Swamp Siren2/12/24, 8:10 PM
She blinked a few times, little spots floating infront of her eyes, "Is it always that bright?"
robbedragon2/12/24, 8:16 PM
"Sometimes it's better because the clouds cover the sky but, those are also the days it's gonna rain so it's a double-edged blade..." Raja explained. "Until you're used to it, I might have something that may help." he informed her and he starte digging around. After a few minutes, he pulled out a piece of wood with a frame at the top and fabric draped across the frame. "I created this as a sort of portable shade device but, it's so clunky and awkward that I didn't think anyone would ever get use out of it."
Swamp Siren2/12/24, 8:40 PM
Straightening her clothes as she got up she looked the item over. "I don't mind the light. It feels nice. My eyes just aren't used to it" (edited)
robbedragon2/12/24, 11:35 PM
"I figured this would help shield your eyes while you ease into it." he offered. "Once you're used to it, you won't need it anymore."
Swamp Siren2/16/24, 2:13 PM
"Thank you... I don't know how I will ever repay your kindness. " a heartfelt smile spread across Alder's face
robbedragon2/16/24, 2:50 PM
Raja chuckled, "Helping the village is more than enough."
Swamp Siren2/16/24, 3:23 PM
Taking the portable shade, Alder stepped outside. This was going to take some getting used to. Everything was so bright and vibrant
robbedragon2/16/24, 4:40 PM
Raja followed after her and gave a nice stretch. It didn't take him very long to notice the stares coming from the other villagers but, to his relief, they weren't on him for once. In fact, people seemed to be staring at Alder and not being very subtle about their whispering. Raja actually felt bad about the way people stared at her and shook his head in disbelief. He knew all too well what it was like to be ostracized by the village.
Swamp Siren2/16/24, 5:40 PM
Not wanting to give the people any satisfaction of seeing they were getting under her skin, Alder walked with her head held high. She projected confidence. The sun felt amazing and glinted off her scales and hair.
robbedragon2/17/24, 10:11 AM
Seeing her walk with pride actually made Raja smile a bit. "The elders are usually in the main hall planning. More than likely, they're already gathered to discuss their options when it comes to you." he offered, hoping to prepare her. "We should probably go for breakfast at the mess hall first, though. That way you aren't facing them on an empty stomach."
Swamp Siren2/18/24, 7:08 PM
The mention of food made her stomach growl. How long had it been since she had eaten. "I will follow your lead."
robbedragon2/18/24, 10:29 PM
Raja giggled and led her to the mess hall. "If all things go well with the elders, we'll go check on Shulbari after." he offered. "Might help if you apologize to him to soothe his pride and show the village you mean well."
Swamp Siren2/18/24, 11:29 PM
"If you think it wolill help" she sighed.
robbedragon2/18/24, 11:35 PM
Once they reached the mess hall, Raja held the door open for her. "I'll do everything in my power to help you build a good reputation around here." he offered.
Swamp Siren2/23/24, 8:25 PM
Stopping at the door she turned to Raja, "Thank you. Really. Thank you. You have helped me more than my own people have." Setting the parasol down near the door after entering she let her eyes adjust to the difference in light.
robbedragon2/23/24, 8:27 PM
"I don't know what your people were like but, around here, we try to help each other out. It's needed to survive." Raja offered and he pulled out a chair for her to sit. "We may not always agree and there are plenty of feuds but, when disaster strikes, we always help each other. Nobody starves in our village."
Swamp Siren2/23/24, 8:35 PM
Taking the seat she carefully settled in with her clothes and tail, "I had first thought I would stay till I was strong enough to leave..... now..... I don't think I want to...."
robbedragon2/23/24, 9:24 PM
The topic slightly soured Raja's mood and he cleared his throat. "Well, first we have to convince the elders to let you stay. There's a lot stacked against you but, I'm going to try and argue on your behalf. If you have someone from the village on your side, they may be more willing to listen to reason and not supserstition or ancient tales that nobody seems to know the source of." he urged.
Swamp Siren2/23/24, 9:27 PM
Letting out a sigh she nodded, "Aye. Very true. I am getting ahead of myself. I will follow your word Rah Jah."
robbedragon2/23/24, 9:39 PM
"Relax for now. I have a way with words. I'll get us some food and be right back." Raja offered as he headed to the counter.
Swamp Siren2/23/24, 10:00 PM
Sighing heavily she folded her hands infront of her face and leaned her head onto them. Would they accept her? Raja was kind... and understanding..... but the whole village may not be like him. There was Shulbari, who attacked her. What if there were more people like him....
robbedragon2/23/24, 10:48 PM
After a few minutes, Raja came back with two plates. He looked them both over and then gave Alder the one with the slightly bigger portion of eggs and sausage thinking she could probably use it after everything she'd been through.
Swamp Siren2/23/24, 11:00 PM
Startled out of her thoughts she looked down at the plate then accepted it. "Thank you."
robbedragon2/23/24, 11:06 PM
"Eat up and then we'll head to the elder's...." Raja suggested as he sat down and dug into his breakfast.
Swamp Siren2/23/24, 11:24 PM
Following his lead she ate, her eyes roaming over the room from time to time, taking in every detail
robbedragon2/23/24, 11:41 PM
Raja had gotten used to rushing through eating in the mess hall or taking his food back to his place to eat in peace so, he was very uncomfortable in the crowd. He could feel all the eyes on him, hear their whispers and mutters about the freak but he couldn't tell if it was aimed at him or Alder which only made things worse. Deep inside, his heart was pounding but, he did his best to hide it and put on a mask to make sure Alder didn't feel anxious eating in the mess hall with him. He cleared his throat and tried to think up something to make conversation, "So, do they have trades where you're from? Like hunters, fisherman, clothiers and things like that?"
Swamp Siren2/25/24, 9:49 PM
"We do actually. Though we may seem outwardly different, we live basic lives just like you do here." As she ate she let her senses wander, listening to the whispered. Of course people would talk. She stood out with her dark skin a d tail.
robbedragon2/25/24, 9:52 PM
"Interesting...." Raja stated, trying to drown his thoughts in the conversation. "I've always been curious about how other people live. Even the other Homia villages seem so different to us. When they refugees came, they seemed confused. One of the villages main source of trade was mining but we're mostly fishermen here." he explained.
Swamp Siren2/25/24, 9:56 PM
"That is truly interesting. We did crafts and hunted." huffing a laugh, "Even with out sunlight we grew plants."
robbedragon2/25/24, 10:03 PM
"How can you grow plants without sun?" Raja wondered. "I mean, I'm no gardener cause getting dirt under my nails would probably kill me but, I'm pretty sure sunlight and water are the two most important things a plant needs." he joked.
Swamp Siren2/25/24, 10:14 PM
"There are some that have adapted to grow with out it." She shrugged as she set down her fork, "life finds a way to thrive. Goes with anything really. You either adapt or..... you no don't continue a lineage. "
robbedragon2/25/24, 10:21 PM
Raja scoffed, "Maybe that's what I'm doing wrong."
Swamp Siren2/25/24, 10:27 PM
"You are not doing anything wrong." Reaching of the table she grasped his hand " You have shown a stranger kindness. And for that I thank you. You have bloomed like the night glow flowers. You have gone past the old way and thriving, shining. Those set in the old ways, THEY are the ones that are not adapting."
robbedragon2/25/24, 10:36 PM
"Not what I meant..." Raja shrugged. "I'm gay, one of the few openly gay men in this village. I've had flings but, these men are too afraid to admit who they are for fear of being judged like they judge me so I can't have a real relationship."
Swamp Siren2/25/24, 10:45 PM
"Still say they are the ones that are wrong. You are trying g to thrive in the harsh climate." (edited)
robbedragon2/25/24, 10:48 PM
"Not like it's hurting them but, people can be idiots sometimes." Raja pointed out. "Besides, I've done a lot of good for this village. I may not be able to build huts or catch fish but, I make people happy and speak out against jerks. That's enough for me."
Swamp Siren3/1/24, 8:08 PM
"You took me in without hesitation." pushing her plate away she smiled, "To me you are a hero." Looking around at the others, "Shall we leave. So these fools can talk openly about us after we are gone."
robbedragon3/1/24, 8:12 PM
"Probably for the best." Raja agreed as he climbed to his feet. "Elders first or medical hut?"
Swamp Siren3/1/24, 8:22 PM
"Let's go to the elders first. It may help soother Shul Bar Ee if he knows I have been permitted to stay."
robbedragon3/1/24, 8:30 PM
Raja giggled at her accent. "To the elders it is!" he exclaimed and offered his arm to her.
Swamp Siren3/1/24, 8:44 PM
Taking it she left the table. Looking back over her shoulder she saw several gentlemen staring. With a wink she continued on.
robbedragon3/2/24, 10:22 PM
Raja led her out and towards the elder's hut. "Listen, I know you're nervous but, the elder is pretty reasonable. As long as you explain everything that happened just like you told me, you'll be fine." he assured her.
Swamp Siren3/2/24, 10:28 PM
Letting out a soft breath she steeled her nerves and picked up the shade Raja had gave her. I hope you're right.
robbedragon3/2/24, 11:22 PM
Raja made small talk on the way there and, once they arrived, they pleaded Alder's case. The elders seemed to need time to consider the choices and advised Alder to apologize to Shulbari and convince him to accept it as it would go a long way towards helping her stay in the village.
Swamp Siren3/2/24, 11:26 PM
With a heavy sigh Alder made her way to the healers area. She had hoped the elders would have agreed she could stay before seeing the one who tried to attack her.
robbedragon3/3/24, 9:40 PM
"Look at the bright side..." Raja offered. "At least they didn't just outright say no which means they're giving you a chance."
Swamp Siren3/4/24, 9:22 PM
"This is very true." Gently twirling the umbrella. "Though I am sure Shul Bar Ee will not be happy to see me."
robbedragon3/4/24, 10:45 PM
"Whatever you do, don't let him know that his apology may determine whether you get to stay or not." Raja suggested. "He might refuse it just to keep you out. He's been acting really weird about outsiders and magic lately..."
Swamp Siren3/4/24, 10:53 PM
"Weird? You mean he wasn't always like this?"
robbedragon3/4/24, 11:08 PM
"Not really. A lot has happened in the village lately..." Raja explained. "We found the water magic and Osha showed up. Shortly after, we had disaster after disaster hit us and three of our villagers were killed by outsiders." he continued. The medical hut was coming into view and he stopped short. "After all of that happened, he started blaming the magic, the Alvia and the outsiders for everything. In truth, he probably blames himself more but he can't change the past."
Swamp Siren3/5/24, 12:57 PM
"That.... seems so sad..... and lonely." Stopping out side the medical hut she eyed the doors, then with a sigh and pushing her shoulders back, she went in.
robbedragon3/5/24, 1:05 PM
Shulbari sat on the edge of a cot with a bandage over his stomach and chest. As soon as he saw Alder, he snarled. "Cheap shot wasn't good enough? Come to try and slit my throat while I'm mending?" he snapped at her. Raja quickly stepped between them. "No, she came to apologize." he stated. "Although, you were the moron that attacked first and she had every right to defend herself." he added in a mutter under his breath.
Swamp Siren3/5/24, 1:14 PM
Holding her hand infront of her she gave a bow, "I would not dishonor a man of your prowess in such a way. I would be disrespectful and cowardly." standing back to her full height her violet eyes ran over him, "I have come to express my apologies. I reacted in self defense. I will make no other excuses than that. " Nodding her head to him, "I am sorry."
robbedragon3/5/24, 1:16 PM
Shulbari sighed and climbed to his feet. "I guess I can't really blame you..." he admitted reluctantly. "I probably would've done the same. If anything, I'm actually impressed. I'm used to fighting big guys with lots of muscle. Your speed caught me off-guard."
Swamp Siren3/5/24, 1:18 PM
Reluctantly she extended a hand, "Thank you. For accepting." Brightly she smiled, wisps of her dual colored hair falling into her eye, "I will take that as a high praise from such a skilled fighter"
robbedragon3/5/24, 1:20 PM
Shulbari took the hand and gave it a firm squeeze and shake. "I still don't fully trust you but, I can acknowledge when I got my ass kicked and that you haven't done anything wrong yet." he admitted. "I will keep my eye on you, though and if you do anything to harm my village, I will personally beat the freaky scales off your ass." he warned.
Swamp Siren3/5/24, 1:23 PM
"Understood." She said and squeezed back. "Hopefully I will be allowed to stay. I have mo where else to go."
robbedragon3/5/24, 1:49 PM
Shulbari shrugged, "Not my decision to make or I'd definitely say no. There's too many outsiders in our village as is and it's getting hard to keep track of all of you." Raja rolled his eyes. "Wouldn't be so hard if you'd learn to trust them. The Alvia have been here all this time and have done nothing wrong." he protested, trying to make Shulbari listen to reason.
Swamp Siren3/5/24, 2:02 PM
She released the man's hand then patted Raja's shoulder, "It is fine. Nothing worth having g is gained in a single day. " Looking back over to Shulbari, "I think it is best we take our leave so he may rest."
robbedragon3/5/24, 2:11 PM
"It's when you let your guard down that someone dies!" Shulbari snapped at Raja. "If I'd kept my guard up, we might not have lost three of our villagers but I figured two hunters should be plenty to keep a researcher safe outside the walls. Most we have to worry about are animals. I was stupid and I let the village and those three down." he ranted and then he turned and slammed his fist into a wooden beam so hard that it actually splintered. The sudden jerking motion caused his ribcage to ache and he winced before falling back onto the bed. "Get out of here...." he snarled, holding his side and refusing to look at them. Raja looked at the pitiful, broken man. For so long he saw Shulbari as this untouchable man of muscle and power but, ever since they lost villagers, Shulbari seemed fragile. He wanted to reach out but, he knew Shulbari would take that as more of an insult than a comfort. "Yeah, we should go..." he mumbled and turned to leave.
Swamp Siren3/5/24, 4:43 PM
Giving only a quick glance back Alder sighed and continued to walk out. Once far enough away, "He blames himself...." Alder more stated then asked.
robbedragon3/5/24, 5:02 PM
"He sees himself as a protector and, when people needed his protection, he was in the mess hall getting drunk and joking with hunters. He didn't even know there was a threat." Raja explained solemnly. "After that, we got hit by droughts, floods, earthquake and other disasters he couldn't do anything about. He shoulders all that burden and it makes him act like an ass at times."
Swamp Siren3/5/24, 7:22 PM
"Does..... he normally have issues with control?" She wondered
robbedragon3/5/24, 8:14 PM
"It's not really control that he has issues with. It's people getting hurt." Raja tried to explain. "He's not unreasonable about it. He knows injuries will happen. Hell, he's probably the most frequent visitor to the med tent besides Cochran but, he doesn't want anyone to die. At least, not from unnatural causes."
Swamp Siren3/5/24, 10:43 PM
"He is admirable. I give him that." She chuckled.
robbedragon3/5/24, 11:05 PM
"He's a stubborn psychopath." Raja retorted with a chuckle of his own. "I don't know if I believe it but one of the hunters has a story where a boar snapped his spear off in its hide and refused to go down. Shulbari proceeded to jump on the things back and punch it repeatedly in the head until it was unconscious before another hunter moved in for the kill." he recalled. "In all honesty, if you're ever in a dangerous spot, Shulbari is the one you want at your side. He's come back from wounds that would down a normal man."
Swamp Siren3/5/24, 11:26 PM
She nodded as she walked. "So now ehat?" (edited)
robbedragon3/6/24, 11:23 AM
"Well...." Raja stopped and looked around. "I could give you that tour and, end it at the hunter's guild." he suggested. "You're clearly a skilled fighter and the hunter's guild serves as not only our main way to get meat other than fish but, the equivalent to our village guards. This way, you can see if they'll take you. Plus, it will show the elders that you're already considering ways to help the village which might help in their consideration of letting you stay." he explained, showing how much of a natural he'd become at helping people fit in to the village after the Alvia arrivals.
Swamp Siren3/10/24, 12:01 AM
"A very sound idea. I could use my skills to help the village..... and not hitting Shul-Bar-Ee."
robbedragon3/10/24, 12:03 AM
"Nah, it's probably for the best you keep knocking him down a peg." Raja jested. "Keep him humble so that big ego of his doesn't get him in trouble."
Swamp Siren3/10/24, 12:14 AM
"Now that, my dear Rah-Jah, I can do," she said with a smile and a wink.
robbedragon3/10/24, 12:15 AM
Raja opened the door and held it wide for her. "After you, my lady." he teased.
Swamp Siren3/10/24, 12:20 AM
With a bow to him she entered, "Thank you." Not paying any mi d to the stares she got, Alder sat the umbrella down then took in the building. (edited)
robbedragon3/15/24, 10:31 PM
The hunter's guild was a rustic little hut that served as storage for the village's weapons like bows and spears. "Alder, welcome to the hunter's guild." Raja announced.
Swamp Siren3/16/24, 11:32 AM
She took in the building and slowly nodded in an appreciative manner. "I think I will get along just fine here."
robbedragon3/16/24, 12:57 PM
"With this and the apology to Shulbari, the only reason the elder's could deny you is if they were hung up on bigoted information from stories that nobody can seem to agree on." Raja pointed out. "Now, I don't know anything about the hunter's guild since I'm just a seamster but, I will stick by your side while you try to find the leader, I guess." he offered.
Swamp Siren3/16/24, 2:13 PM
"Thank you Rah Jah. Really. You have done so much gor me."
robbedragon3/16/24, 2:38 PM
"It's hard enough being separated from everything you know. You don't deserve to be lonely on top of that." Raja offered with a shrug. "Just do your best for us and I'll make sure we do our best by you." he promised.
Swamp Siren3/16/24, 8:42 PM
"You have my word." with a smile she began looking for the guild master. It took time, alot of explaining, and more than once assuring the poor individual she had no intent of harming anyone. Now she was a hunter and scout for the village.
robbedragon3/16/24, 10:52 PM
Surprisingly, Alder seemed fine navigating the social pitfalls of the hunter's guild and managed to handle things pretty well on her own. For the most part, he just stuck back and let her mingle. The hunters had already seen or heard about how she bested Shulbari so, they were more than willing to hear her out and didn't seem to put any thought into her origins.
Swamp Siren3/19/24, 8:18 PM
Pleased with the out come Alder made her way out of the hunters guild, "Should we return to the elders?" (edited)
robbedragon3/19/24, 11:03 PM
"It's probably a good idea to give them some time to deliberate." Raja suggested. "For now, let's go home and relax. I'm sure when they've made their decision, they'll send a messenger to get you." he figured.
Swamp Siren4/1/24, 10:06 PM
"I'm sure you're right .." she sighed. "Be hard to relax though."
robbedragon4/1/24, 10:41 PM
Raja thought about it for a moment. "How about instead of relaxing, you help me design a better outfit for you to wear when you're outside the village? This way, if you become a hunter, you'll have better clothes and, if the worst happens, you'll have something warm to wear and remember me by." he suggested.
Swamp Siren4/2/24, 7:41 AM
This warmed her heart. Without trying Alder really had made a friend. "I could never ask more of you. You've already done so much."
robbedragon4/2/24, 11:51 AM
"You act as if this is something that requires payment." Raja pointed out as they approached his dwelling. "I don't know how things are where you're from but, in this village, we look out for each other. We may not always agree or like each other but, if you need help, you can always count on another villager to help you. It's how we manage to survive through anything. We use our gifts and talents to lift others, not take advantage of them."
Swamp Siren4/3/24, 10:52 AM
Softly smiling she sighed, "Then I will just have to use my talents to help the village in turn." With a warmed heart she nodded, "Thank you. Rah-Jah."
robbedragon4/3/24, 12:06 PM
"That's all anyone can expect of anyone else." Raja assured her and then he headed inside to get started on designing her a good hunting outfit.
Swamp Siren4/3/24, 1:22 PM
Following him in she gave idea and concepts for an outfit that would accommodate her tail.
robbedragon4/3/24, 1:27 PM
The tail made for an interesting obstacle as it meant a waistband on pants would be harder to fashion and he hadn't quite figured out a way to do that yet but he would in time. "For now, how about a leather tunic with a leather skirt?" he suggested. "Your legs won't be quite as well protected but, I may be able to create some long boots from leather that go further up your leg than a normal boot would."
Swamp Siren4/3/24, 1:32 PM
"Not the kind of tail you're used to working with," she mused. "I think tall boots and skirt would work just fine." tracing a hand along the outer part of her leg, "I do have thicker scales her. Better protection. "
robbedragon4/3/24, 1:56 PM
"I did notice that..." Raja admitted. "The leather won't do much if you're attacked by a knife or arrow and your scales will provide much better protection against something like that but, it can help cover and protect the more sensitive areas like your chest and torso." he pointed out and he got to work sketching up a few ideas. (edited)
Swamp Siren4/3/24, 2:20 PM
Pulling up a chair she sat and watched him work. "You have sn eye for detail. "
robbedragon4/3/24, 2:24 PM
Without looking up, Raja chuckled. "Have to in this line of work. Every stitch must be precise and, if you know what you're doing a good outfit can tell a story on its own. When people talk about big events in their life, they rarely remember what they were wearing but, the clothes played an important role in making that event happen, even if they don't realize it." he mused as he drew out an intricate pattern into the sketch. "After all, what you're wearing helps with how you look and, you never know if your soulmate looks at you because something caught his eye or, if it was pure happenstance."
Swamp Siren4/3/24, 2:48 PM
She hummed softly as she contemplated. "I had never considered it from that perspective, but you are correct. A wedding ceremony would indeed appear unusual without a beautiful dress."
robbedragon4/3/24, 2:54 PM
Raja looked up and grinned, "Oh I love weddings! They're the one event where the woman will remember what she was wearing and probably even keep that dress to pass down to her daughter."
Swamp Siren4/3/24, 3:03 PM
"Is that a thing here?" Alder hadn't heard of it before.
robbedragon4/3/24, 3:45 PM
"Life-partner ceremonies are a thing." Raja assured her. "We used to have a certain way to do it but, after the other villagers migrated here, it kinda just became a mixture of everyone's customs. The general rule is, you have to say you promise yourself to the other for life, though."
Swamp Siren4/3/24, 4:05 PM
Nodding along she watched him work. "Probably something that will never happen for me."
robbedragon4/3/24, 4:17 PM
"I wouldn't be so sure of that, honey." Raja giggled. "People are scared of you right now because of stories that are so ancient, nobody can agree on what actually happened but, they'll get over it and when they do, they'll love you. Besides, girl, you got a body that works those curves."
Swamp Siren4/3/24, 5:22 PM
"I'm sure the tail will throw others off." Alder responded with a sigh. "And the scales. I'm just too alien for these people."
robbedragon4/3/24, 5:24 PM
"Everyone has flaws that their partner has to be willing to accept." Raja pointed out. "To you, your flaws are all external so, you know that anyone who is willing to try and date you is ready to accept them immediately."
Swamp Siren4/3/24, 5:46 PM
Leaning onto the flat surface Alder folded her arms, "I cant say I feel the same, but if you are right and someone decides they are interested. ...... I will buy you the finest cloth of your choosing."
robbedragon4/3/24, 5:48 PM
"You could always make the first move..." Raja suggested. "I mean, if you find someone you like just tell them you like them."
Swamp Siren4/3/24, 6:19 PM
"First." She purred in her rich accent, "I have to get to know the people here to see if anyone does Interest me. So far. I only know you and Shul-bar-ee."
robbedragon4/3/24, 6:40 PM
"Well, I'm out for obvious reasons which leaves Shulbari and, honey, you can do better." Raja replied with a playful giggle. He then pushed the finished design towards her. "What do you think?"
Swamp Siren4/3/24, 7:34 PM
Propping her cheek on her hand she grinned, "I could do better? Didn't you say you liked him?" When he pushed the design over to her she looked it over. "I do like this. Beautiful but effective to keep me safe while in the woods."
robbedragon4/3/24, 10:02 PM
Raja blushed and shook his head. "He was one of the first people to stand up for me when others picked on me for liking men and he can be sweet at times." he explained, feeling like he suddenly needed to justify his crush. "That being said, he has many flaws that he needs to work out."
Swamp Siren4/5/24, 12:25 PM
A warm smell spread over her lips. "I am only teasing. I don't think you gave to worry. He is certainly not interested. "
robbedragon4/5/24, 12:49 PM
"Yeah, you don't have to tell me twice. He's made that abundently clear." Raja sighed. "It's just... He really can be a nice guy once you get past the crusty exterior. He just puts so much pressure on himself to keep everyone safe. If he'd learn that he doesn't have to be the only protector of the entire village, he'd probably calm down."
Swamp Siren4/5/24, 12:53 PM
With a chuckle, "I meant interest in me."
robbedragon4/5/24, 12:55 PM
Raja snickered, "I wouldn't be so sure about that." Shulbari had been pretty subtle but, the thing about checking out someone subtly is, it doesn't work if you yourself are being subtly checked out and Raja may have stopped crushing on Shulbari but it didn't mean he couldn't window shop.
Swamp Siren4/8/24, 8:46 PM
Bringing everything back on track, "So." Sliding the design back to him, "I think this will work beautifully. "
robbedragon4/8/24, 11:19 PM
That pulled Raja's attention back and he smirked. "I can probably make this in about a day or two." he assured her. "While I get started on this, you may want to go out and assert yourself into the village. Get to know people and get them to know you."
Swamp Siren4/15/24, 6:45 PM
"You are probably right." She nodded then gave a sly smile, "I promise to be on my best behavior. "
robbedragon4/15/24, 7:37 PM
"Hey, it's your ass on the line if you don't." Raja teased. "Don't want Shulbari to end up in the medical ward again after you mouths off and you kick his ass."
Swamp Siren4/15/24, 8:26 PM
"He will have to get out of the ward first." She laughed and left her new friend to his work.
robbedragon4/15/24, 11:46 PM
"I have a feeling he won't be there very long." Raja assured her. "Shulbari doesn't like the medical ward and doesn't listen to doctors very well."
Swamp Siren4/16/24, 8:29 AM
This didn't fill her with much confidence. He obviously didn't like her and she hoped once he was out of the ward; he wouldn't start purposely looking for her. With a wave she left the hut and made her way around the village, hands folded neatly behind her back. Villagers either ignored her or stared but they all kept her at a distance.
robbedragon4/16/24, 11:17 AM
"What in the Hells are you looking at?!" a boisterous Shulbari snapped as he charged out of the medical hut. He was naked from the waist up aside from the bandage that now covered the majority of his abs and wrapped over his chest. "Shulbari, you need to take it easy!" a female voice called. "Your ribs are bruised but, if you break them, you could puncture a wound." the nurse continued protesting, hoping logic may lure him back to his bed. "They'll heal." Shulbari growled, glancing back over his shoulder. He was never a huge fan of the medical ward and, as long as he could stand and move, they were never able to keep him on one of the cots, no matter how many times he ended up in there. One of the nurses had questioned why he despised staying in the medical hut so much but he'd become sullen and refused to talk to her after that.
Swamp Siren4/16/24, 1:31 PM
Leaving the portable shade behind Alder walked enjoying the sun. She still squinted a little so the light didn't hurt her eyes, but she enjoyed the warm rays, the soft puffy clouds that trailed across the blue sky, and the vibrant colors. Light glittered across her scales with every move, like dark jewels.
robbedragon4/16/24, 1:40 PM
Now that he was free of that god-awful medical hut, Shulbari enjoyed the warm glow of the sun. "Ahhh... Not a cloud in the sky..." he breathed out a sigh of relief. Whenever the sky was overcast, it tended to sour his mood but, on a bright sunny day like today, he couldn't help but be cheerful. Even the throbbing pain in his ribs seemed to lessen now that he was outside and enjoying it. He decided to take a walk through town and check the perimeter to ensure there were no ways for the outcasts to sneak in. There were already enough threats in the village in his opinion.
Swamp Siren4/16/24, 8:06 PM
Taking a leisurely stroll through the quaint village, Alder inhaled deeply, savoring the fresh air. While she would undoubtedly miss her former residence, the place of her origin, she couldn't help but feel a growing fondness for this new environment.
ShulbariAPP4/16/24, 9:45 PM
Closing his eyes and just taking in the warmth and fresh air, Shulbari ambled along. He had just rounded a corner when he slammed into something or someone.
Swamp Siren4/16/24, 9:54 PM
Stumbling back Alder yelped. She hadn't seen anyone or anything, but then again she had been squinting.
ShulbariAPP4/16/24, 9:57 PM
"Watch where you're goi-" Shulbari started to snap and then he realized who he'd bumped into. "Oh, it's you..." he growled.
Swamp Siren4/16/24, 10:01 PM
Straightening her clothes, she inquired politely, "I see you are well enough to be discharged from the medical ward. Are you fully healed?" She was cautious not to provoke any anger in him.
ShulbariAPP4/16/24, 10:18 PM
"Nah but I couldn't stay cooped up inside any longer." Shulbari admitted. "You got me pretty good but don't think you'll be so lucky next time." he warned her.
Swamp Siren4/16/24, 10:39 PM
"I really hope there isn't a next time...." She sighed. "The elder might kick me out... and I doubt I'll ever make it back home." She hung her head, "I'd be lost again..."
ShulbariAPP4/16/24, 10:41 PM
"The elders don't kick people out for getting into fights. If so, I'd be an outcast by now. We even have a fighting pit to blow off some steam. I can show it to you if you want." he offered. He figured he might as well try to be hospitable if the elders were intending to let her stay.
Swamp Siren4/16/24, 11:09 PM
Quirking a brow, "A fighting pit? There's a fighting pit?"
ShulbariAPP4/17/24, 11:36 AM
"Yep! The hunters and fishermen use it the most to blow off steam but it can be used to settle disputes. As long as you don't kill each other, everything is free game." Shulbari explained and he started walking towards it. "Come on, I'll show you."
Swamp Siren4/17/24, 1:42 PM
Blinking a few times Ader stared at him for a moment then followed. This couldn't be the same man that attacked her, could it? As a thin cloud passed the sun beamed brighter, causing the Dalvis to shade her lavender eyes with her hand. "Do you often take part in the fights?"
ShulbariAPP4/17/24, 1:47 PM
"Every chance I get." he announced proudly. "Hunting builds up muscle but, you also have to have the skills. Never know what dangers lurk outside of the village walls that walk on two legs instead of four."
Swamp Siren4/17/24, 1:51 PM
Tail swaying she considered his words. "If I am allowed to stay...... I will strive to protect this place with my life." Her free hand flicked in a soft circular motion, "Perhaps I should start training in the pit.... if it wouldn't make me seem like a threat...."
ShulbariAPP4/17/24, 2:23 PM
"It probably wouldn't be a bad idea." Shulbari admitted. "We're used to fighting other homia. The alvia don't fight in the pit very often as they prefer to use bows over close combat. It would help us train against enemies that use speed over brute force." he pointed out. "...and I wouldn't worry too much about the elders. They tend to do the opposite of whatever I say just to annoy me so they'll probably let you stay just because they think you can kick my ass."
Swamp Siren4/17/24, 2:49 PM
"To be fair...." a grin played over her lips, "I did. Though it was a spur of the moment attack. I may not fare so well in a long, drawn out battle." Opting not to hurt his ego, Alder chose the truthful, but leave room for the possibility for him to our match her.
ShulbariAPP4/17/24, 3:02 PM
"I'm already aware of how your fighting style works. You dodge your opponents and strike at opening with quick jabs, aiming for spots that can do damage with the least amount of force needed but, I also noticed you were holding back. The knee you gave me should've broken a rib, not just cracked it. You don't follow through with the full force to your blows in case you need to pull back to dodge another attack." he informed her. "We both have room for improvements in our techniques, it would seem."
Swamp Siren4/17/24, 3:22 PM
Nearly tripping Alder stopped and stared at his back. In equal parts she was baffled, unnerved, and impressed with his observations. Shulbari had figured her out, all with that o e brief meeting. "You have a keen eye."
ShulbariAPP4/17/24, 3:55 PM
He let out a scoff. "I've been fighting in the pit since I was a boy. It's my job to protect this village and, knowing your enemy is as much a part of the fight as the actual blows you land or don't land." he explained. They arrived at the pit which was a dug out area on the beach. "This is the fighting pit. It used to be just something the fishermen did but, as it got more and more popular, the elders decided to make it a normal part of the village. They even use it sometimes to settle disputes of opinion where there really isn't a right or wrong answer but the villagers won't quit fighting about it. Although, lately that's been guys fighting over the attention of that floozy bard Amali." he added that last part as a jest.
Swamp Siren4/17/24, 5:21 PM
"Floozy? I'm sorry. I don't know that word." Standing beside him she flinched at the sun gleaming off the water. Letting her eyes adjust for a moment she nodded in an appreciative manner. "I think it is fair to tell you once I am officially apart of the village I have asked to join the hunters guild."
ShulbariAPP4/17/24, 6:16 PM
"Fine but don't think you're gonna have free reign to go where you please. I still don't know you or trust you so I'll be keeping an eye on you. We'll see how you hunt and that'll tell me your character. You're clearly not as bloodthirsty as the old folks say from the tales cause you didn't slit Raja's puny little throat in his sleep which makes you a more patient person than me already." As he spoke, he eased himself down into the pit.
Swamp Siren4/17/24, 6:59 PM
It was then it struck her. There was two reasons he didn't know her. The first and obvious was she was new. The second, Alder realized, was when she apologized... She never gave her name. Nor could she remember if Raja had said it. Slowly she held her hand out towards him, "I realize I never told you my name. I'm Alder. I come from the village of Starglow, a part of islands south west of here called Night jungle." After a moment she hesitated, thinking she was pushing g her luck to get a second hand shake in a day Alder slightly withdrew her hand. "It is a dark place..... And though it is beautiful..." she sighed and looked away, "I found it to be so depressing. I had went to the forests edge, to feel the warm sun.... when.." shaking her head she looked up at him through her white eye lashes, "I'm sorry.... I'm sure you don't want to hear about it."
ShulbariAPP4/17/24, 7:02 PM
He gave a shake of his head and chuckled. "You gotta loosen up a bit." he teased. "Look, Alder, if you promise not to hurt anyone in my village, I'll give you a chance. I still think you're a scaled freak of nature, though."
Swamp Siren4/17/24, 7:42 PM
Chuckling she gave a soft smile. "I will certainly agree to this. I have been treated with kindness, mostly by Rah-Jah. I will defend this place and it's people with my life." gently nudging his elbow with hers, "When you are well we should have e a rematch. I'd like to see how I would fare against a powerful opponent. "
ShulbariAPP4/17/24, 8:13 PM
"Don't think this little bruise is gonna keep me laid up for long. Three days tops and I'll be in more than enough shape to kick your scaled ass." he boasted. "Now that I know you rely on speed, I think I can take you out."
Swamp Siren4/17/24, 8:43 PM
"Then I'll see you in three days. Let's see if you can keep up." She laughed. He seemed like a completely different person. And almost likeable...... if she ignored that he kept referring to her scales.
ShulbariAPP4/18/24, 8:00 AM
"I'd fight you now but I'm under strict doctor's order not to strain myself and last time I disobeyed those orders, someone threatened to hit me with a frying pan." Shulbari admitted. "Try to avoid the medical ward if you can."
Swamp Siren4/18/24, 11:21 AM
"That is why I said three days." Stepping out onto the beach Alder strode out towards the pit. Head tilted down and eyes shielded she eyed scanned the area. It wasn't far where she had washed up. First arriving she was more concerned with finding shelter. Now Alder knelt down and picked up a seashell. With her tail curled clise she turned it over as she marveled at its color and texture.
ShulbariAPP4/18/24, 1:31 PM
"I'm going to go patrol the wall." he informed her.
Swamp Siren4/18/24, 1:51 PM
With the small she stood abd dusted the sand from her legs, "Do you mind if I join you? It will give me a chance to learn more of the duties for the hunters guild."
ShulbariAPP4/18/24, 3:01 PM
"You're welcome to but this isn't one of the hunter guild duties. The labor guild guards and they're supposed to check the walls." he explained. "I do it because I want to ensure the outcasts can't sneak in and steal anything."
Swamp Siren4/18/24, 4:31 PM
"You do this by yourself?" She knew Rajah had said Shulbari was protective of the village. But if he was always patrolling the walls, "Let me help. Two is better than one."
ShulbariAPP4/18/24, 5:21 PM
"I don't trust you yet." Shulbari stated bluntly. "If you want to check with me, that's fine but until I do trust you, I will continue to look myself."
Swamp Siren4/18/24, 7:19 PM
She wasn't surprised honestly. It hadn't really been that long since she had arrived. Softly sighing Alder lowered her head and nodded, "I understand. "
ShulbariAPP4/18/24, 7:36 PM
"At least I'm being reasonable with you." Shulbari pointed out. "I tried to have the alvia forced out of the village by inciting a riot." he admitted.
Swamp Siren4/18/24, 7:53 PM
Turning the shell over she watched the sun light played across its surface, "Like I said." Raising her head, her lavender eyes stared up at him, "I understand. "
ShulbariAPP4/18/24, 10:37 PM
"In my defense, they showed up and then we had back to back calamities happen like a drought, flooding, earthquakes and more." he pointed out as he started back towards the village. "I was convinced they brought it on our village."
Swamp Siren4/19/24, 1:19 PM
Was it her, or was Shulbari trying a hard to prove he will do what needed to be done AND defend the fact that he would do it. "I'm sorry to hear the village had it rough. The Alvia...." Alder sighed as she followed along, "Well there is no nice way to say this. They can be utter fools."
ShulbariAPP4/19/24, 1:25 PM
"They're prudes with sticks shoved up their ass." he stated bluntly as they walked. He'd stop periodically to move plants aside and check the wall. "It doesn't help that everyone obsesses about how 'beautiful' they are. If I were to settle down, I want someone strong at my side. Someone I can take on a hunt and trust to have my back as much as I have hers. Not some bookworm who can't hold their own in a fight."
Swamp Siren4/19/24, 1:43 PM
"That is something we both can agree on." Finding a low hanging branch Alder checked it's bark. It was similar to one that grew near her old village. Carefully she peeled the bark in long stripes, then split those several times until it was fine fibers. Carefully the Dalvis worked the fibers into a delicate cord, the shell's base wrapped at the midpoint before she continued. It took some time but eventually Alder tied a new necklace around her neck.
ShulbariAPP4/19/24, 3:13 PM
Shulbari noticed a hole that seemed to be forming around the north wall and he started gathering up rocks and stones to fill it in. It wouldn't hold permanently but it would mean whomever dug the hole would need to dig it back out in order to get in.
Swamp Siren4/19/24, 3:17 PM
Seeing him work she settled in to help. Grabbing up rocks Alder passed them over for him to ace before locating more.
ShulbariAPP4/19/24, 3:27 PM
Reaching down to grab a large boulder and put in the way, Shulbari strained. He could feel the pain in his ribs but he ignored it, pushing through as he lifted the boulder up and lugged it slowly over to the hole.
Swamp Siren4/19/24, 3:50 PM
Sliding her hands under the stone she tried to help him lift. "I'm looking forward to a rematch in three days Shul-bar-ee. Let me help so I know when we meet on the pit, I will see you at your best." Alder knew full well, based on his pride, telling g him to take it easy so he doesn't hurt himself would only piss him off. She was hoping thus tactic would be received better.
ShulbariAPP4/19/24, 4:42 PM
He started to protest but, hearing her say she wanted to make sure he was fighting at his best kinda eased the burden on his pride. "Don't worry. I'll be more than ready to tear your ass up in three days, rookie." he assured her.
Swamp Siren4/19/24, 4:57 PM
He wanted to tease? Ok then. Leaning close she smiled coyly, "You don't know me. Remember? I may not be a rookie."
ShulbariAPP4/19/24, 5:02 PM
"You're new to the village, new to the hunter's guild and new to me. That makes you a rookie." he pointed out, dropping the boulder in place. "You can fight but that doesn't mean you can hunt or act like us."
Swamp Siren4/19/24, 5:17 PM
"Fair point." she sighed. Seems he was oblivious to teasing. "I'll just have to prove myself to you."
ShulbariAPP4/19/24, 6:22 PM
He smirked and chuckled. "...and don't think I didn't catch that. You may be female but those wiles won't work on me. I'm a man on a mission and I won't be easily distracted."
Swamp Siren4/22/24, 8:50 PM
"Hm!" She grinned, "Just testing. Seeing how you handle things. Can you blame me? I want yo know everything I can about a strong opponent. "
ShulbariAPP4/22/24, 9:15 PM
"You won't get in my head. At best, you're a rival. At worst, you're an enemy." he stated bluntly. "Rivals I compete with and enemies I destroy. You do not want to be the latter."
Swamp Siren5/7/24, 10:00 PM
"I accept rival. I could use something to work towards. A way to push to better myself. "
robbedragon5/7/24, 10:02 PM
"Rivals I can deal with for now." Shulbari conceded. "Now, let's see you prove yourself as a hunter." he added and started walking towards the hunting lodge.
Swamp Siren5/7/24, 10:04 PM
Not hesitating she followed him. "And how am I supposed to prove myself?"
robbedragon5/7/24, 10:05 PM
"You'll find out when you get to the lanes." he assured her.
Swamp Siren5/8/24, 7:50 AM
Alder wasn't sure if she should start worrying now or atleast hear him out. Crossing her arms she kept pace with him, "What are 'lane'?"
robbedragon5/8/24, 10:49 AM
"The lanes are for training." Shulbari explained. "It's behind the hunter's guild and has dummies and targets to practice your up-close combat and your ranged combat."
Swamp Siren5/18/24, 3:05 PM
Hands folded behind her she followed him. For a man not liking her presence in the village, he was tolerating her pretty well
ShulbariAPP5/18/24, 3:08 PM
After a bit of silent walking, they reached the spot and he grabbed up a spear. He tossed it up, grabbed it under hand, leaned back and launched it 40 feet at a bullseye. "This is the lanes. It's where we hunters practice our spears and bows. If you're going to hunt with us, you might as well put the work in." he offered.
Swamp Siren5/18/24, 8:44 PM
Grabbing a spear she checked it's weight. Not bad. She then gagged the distance to the target. Felt the wind flow past her pointed ears. Heating the weapon she threw it with all her might.
ShulbariAPP5/20/24, 7:44 PM
With an impressed grunt, Shulbari looked her over. "You aren't half bad. You might be of use to the village after all." he admitted somewhat begrudgingly. "Keep practicing and you might be able to feed the whole village."
Swamp Siren5/20/24, 7:56 PM
Tail flicking the sunlight danced and glimmered off her scales. "I'll show you that I am more than that, Shul-Bar-Ee. Hand me a bow and a short sword."
ShulbariAPP5/20/24, 8:36 PM
He grabbed the bow and handed it to her. "The swords are sparring weapons so they're blunted." he informed her.
Swamp Siren5/20/24, 9:23 PM
"I'll save that for when you are well the." Taking the bow Alder positioned herself down lane from a target. Knocking an arrow she took her stance, breathed in deep, and drew back. After a moment she let the arrow fly, her breath slowly released as the shaft cleared the bow.
ShulbariAPP5/20/24, 9:27 PM
He watched as the arrow sank into the target. It wasn't far off from the center and he had to give a slow clap in response. "Not bad. Pakhet would scold you for not hitting the mark well enough but, you do better than I ever did." he assured her. "I'm shit with a bow."
Swamp Siren5/20/24, 9:33 PM
She didn't remember hearing that name. With a slight huff, "I'm still adjusting to all this light. Where I come from." She placed one end of the bow on the ground and she held the top in both hands as she stared at the arrow. "It is a dense jungle. The canopy so thick no light breaks through it. I am more accustomed to the darkness. "
ShulbariAPP5/20/24, 9:38 PM
"I've heard the stories that your people come from the pits of darkness itself. Then again, those same stories say the Alvia are pure being without flaw. I don't believe either anymore. All I believe is my people need to be protected and I can't trust anyone, not even outsiders of our own kind."
Swamp Siren5/20/24, 9:46 PM
"I will tell you I am no threat. Just lost.... and homeless......" returning the bow to him she locked her lavender eyes on his, "I will protect these people with my life."
ShulbariAPP5/20/24, 9:48 PM
"Actions are what counts." Shulbari stated bluntly as he took the bow from her and set it on the table. "I will trust you when you've shown you can be trusted. Until then, I'll keep an eye on you."
Swamp Siren5/20/24, 10:01 PM
"Does that mean you will walk me back to Rah-Jah hut?"
ShulbariAPP5/20/24, 10:11 PM
"Yeah, can't have you causing trouble along the way." he stated, trying to keep a straight face.
Swamp Siren5/20/24, 10:14 PM
She quirked a brow then turned, "You plan to follow me every day?"
ShulbariAPP5/20/24, 10:16 PM
"Until I trust you." Shulbari responded.
Swamp Siren5/20/24, 10:58 PM
Leaving from the lanes she made her way out into the streets, "At least I will have a competent guide. "
ShulbariAPP5/21/24, 8:34 AM
Following after her, Shulbari couldn't help but chuckle. "Just gotta make sure you don't sabotage anything along the way." he ensured her but, he couldn't help but admire the view. Now that he wasn't looking at her as purely a threat to be taken out, he couldn't help but notice the way her scales caught the light and accentuated her curves or how they stood out, shining against her onyx skin. No, she was an exotic and beautiful creature and he couldn't help but let his eyes wander over the back of her body as his mind wandered a bit.
Swamp Siren5/21/24, 9:44 AM
"Believe me.... I never planned to." She murdered as she sighed. It was going to be a long hard road for her to find her place toll she could return home. ..... could? If? Did she even want to. Closing her eyes and tilting her head back, she let the sun light warm her face. Even though it was unfamiliar, she felt comfortable here.
ShulbariAPP5/22/24, 8:07 PM
"Does the sunlight hurt you?" he wondered. He'd heard that Daelvis and other shadow dwellers actually felt pain in sunlight and could be driven back to the shadows by light.
Swamp Siren5/22/24, 8:18 PM
Looking back she blinked her violet eyes at him. "No. I actually enjoy it. It was so depressing to constantly be in the dark. My eyes just aren't used to it."
ShulbariAPP5/22/24, 9:17 PM
He couldn't help but snicker. "See? This is exactly what I was talking about earlier with the stories. When I was a boy in the orphanage, we were taught that my kind were the only race that was good and that all the other races either turned on us or abandoned us in our time of need and that one day the shadow races like your kind would return to try and eat our souls but we could chase you away with light because the light burned you and sent you running back to the shadows." he explained. "But then the Alvia showed up and they claim they stood with the Homia against the other races which doesn't match what we learned. Nobody seems to know what really happened so long ago..."
Swamp Siren5/22/24, 9:40 PM
Sorrow filled her eyes, "You were an orphan?" Listening to him she nodded, "History is passed down to the young and no one questions it. Even if it is wrong. I am not interested in souls..... Right now I only want a safe place to recover.... " wrapping her arms around herself she rubbed her sides. "The water was not too kind to me."

ShulbariAPP5/22/24, 9:44 PM
"Orphans are pretty common in a hostile world." Shulbari pointed out with a shrug. "Recover and get stronger. I want a rematch worth my time some day."
Swamp Siren5/22/24, 9:59 PM
"I've... thought of staying.... make this my home.... if I'm allowed." Watching a head of her "If I'm allowed....." Stopping in her tracks Alder's brow furrowed as she looked around. "I... uh.... don't know my way around... and.... I think I'm lost...."
ShulbariAPP5/22/24, 10:05 PM
Letting out a chuckle, Shulbari shook his head. "Don't worry, it's hard to get lost here. Just orient yourself with the mess hall and the elder's tent and everything else is pretty easy to keep track of." he explained. He hadn't really been paying attention as they walked though and it took him a second to orient himself as he looked around. "Raja's house is to the right." he offered.
Swamp Siren5/22/24, 10:10 PM
"And I guess this is where our conversation ends." Folding her hands behind her back she turned to him, "and no one was injured." Offering a bow she placed a hand on her chest to keep from having a wardrobe malfunction. "Good night Shul-bar-EE. Heal up... so we can have outlet rematch."
ShulbariAPP5/22/24, 10:14 PM
"Try not to get yourself into trouble before then." he added with a bit of a smile.
Swamp Siren5/22/24, 10:29 PM
Smiling back she had to admit he wasn't that bad. Perhaps Raja and the others just didn't understand him. "You have my word." With that she walked to Raja's house, gently knocked, then let herself in.
robbedragon5/22/24, 10:45 PM
Raja looked up from his sewing. "Did everything go well?" he questioned.
Swamp Siren5/22/24, 10:59 PM
Closing the door behind her she leaned against it. "Well.... I ran into Shul-bar-EE....... and.... he was..... some what nice... sorta... I think." (edited)
robbedragon5/22/24, 11:07 PM
This drew Raja's full undivided attention. "Shulbari was nice to you? Were you giving him fighting tips or revealing some technique on how to pulverize opponents because that's the only time I've ever seen Shulbari be 'nice'." he teased.
Swamp Siren5/22/24, 11:13 PM
"He.... wants a rematch....." she shrugged. "When we are both at our best. And.... I told him I was trying to join the hunters guild.... he doesn't trust me yet. And apparently he's going to be following me around to make sure.... after him initially being angry after I bumped into him.... he seemed.... nice.... even smiled."
robbedragon5/23/24, 9:02 AM
Raja chuckled slightly and went back to his sewing. "I told you he isn't so bad once you get past that gruff exterior." he reminded her. "He's like a guard dog. He barks and growls to scare off intruders but, if you give him a pet and a treat, he'll start wagging his tail and become your best friend."
Swamp Siren5/23/24, 9:43 AM
"I just thought it would longer. Considering he attack me.... and how he was at the med tent....." pushing off the door she walked over to inspect Raja's work. "Though.... I'm not 'allowed' to go any where with out him watching me...."
robbedragon5/23/24, 12:37 PM
"He did the same with the Alvia when they first arrived until they started splitting up and he couldn't watch them all." Raja informed her. "Then when the hurricanes, droughts and volcanos hit, he got mad because he couldn't protect people from the elements."
Swamp Siren5/23/24, 1:08 PM
"He blamed the misfortune on the Alvia like some of the other villagers?" She had remembered hearing stories
robbedragon5/25/24, 12:15 AM
"He was pretty much the one inciting the angry mob." Raja admitted with a shrug. "We were stuck huddled up and people were angry and needed to blame someone so when Shulbari started blaming the Alvia, people followed blindly. If I hadn't stepped in, they would've thrown the Alvia out into the cold during the blizzard to die."
Swamp Siren5/25/24, 8:06 AM
She nodded, gaining a much better understanding. Of course, Raja had been saying Shulbari was protective and was upset whenever he couldn't protect the village. But seeing him, interacting with him, and now hearing everything again... she could see the gruff man in a different light. He wasn't cold, heartless, and combative. He was cautious, caring, and most importantly... protective. Raja was correct, he was shouldering everything. To Alder, it was too much for one person. His somewhat abrasive nature kept others at arm's length. The man was going to collapse at this rate. It was at that moment Alder made up her mind. Whether Shulbari liked it or not, she was going to help protect this village. With determination set, she nodded, "He can't keep going like that. Inevitably, he will exhaust himself." Settling next to where Raja worked, "If he wishes to keep an eye on me at all times, then he can do it as I assist in protecting everyone else."
robbedragon5/25/24, 12:02 PM
"That's all I need to hear." Raja smiled at her softly. "Shulbari will ease off little by little as he sees what you do just like he did with the Alvia newcomers. Eventually, he'll leave you alone completely." he added with a shrug.
Swamp Siren5/25/24, 1:08 PM
Propping her cheek in her hand Alder relaxed herself with a sigh. She hadn't realized how tense she was trying to make sure she didn't make any moves he'd see as threatening. " I hope he'll see me as an asset and help take some of the load off of him."
robbedragon5/25/24, 3:09 PM
"The load off of him?" Raja questioned. "If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were actually becoming friends with him." he teased.
Swamp Siren5/25/24, 3:19 PM
She huffed, "Hardly. He's gonna burn himself out if he keeps doing everything by himself. Someone's gonna have to clean up his mess if he gives out. Or worse, he'll make a mistake that could get someone killed.... or himself."
robbedragon5/25/24, 9:21 PM
"Believe me, you're preaching to the choir, Alder." Raja assured her. "Thing is, he's so stubborn and bullheaded about it being his 'destiny' and 'duty' to protect everyone that he doesn't like sharing the burden."
Swamp Siren5/25/24, 9:34 PM
" I'm not going to give hom an option. " she grinned.
robbedragon5/25/24, 10:06 PM
"Alright but pick your battles, honey." Raja warned her. "It'll do no good to help Shulbari's insane crusade if you drive yourself into the dirt as well."
Swamp Siren5/28/24, 9:27 PM
"I will not destroy myself." she chuckled. "I'm not going to become his sitter. But I'm going to try to take some of the weight off."
robbedragon5/28/24, 10:05 PM
"That's the problem." Raja pointed out. "Shulbari constantly takes on more than he should so, if you pick up the slack, he'll pivot to some other far more dangerous and stupid thing to 'protect' people. He'll push further into the woods or rebuild the village barriers."
robbedragon5/28/24, 10:19 PM
"No, help him if you can, just don't get dragged down with him." Raja warned. "He believes self-sacrifice will fulfill some grand destiny an old hag told him when he was six."
Swamp Siren5/28/24, 10:28 PM
She shrugged the tapped the cloth, "How's this going?"
robbedragon5/28/24, 10:30 PM
Raja held it up. "I have a few more adjustments to make but it should be done by morning." he assured her. "I think I need to take a break for a bit, though. Go find some food since I haven't eaten since breakfast."
Swamp Siren5/28/24, 10:34 PM
"Its looking beautiful. " her tail flicked, Standing she tugged at his wrist, "Come on. You need to eat "
robbedragon5/28/24, 10:43 PM
Setting the outfit back down, Raja climbed to his feet. "Alright, alright!" he chuckled.
Swamp Siren5/28/24, 11:07 PM
Laughing she headed to tge door, "Let's see if I can find my way around ."
robbedragon5/29/24, 12:33 PM
"Alright, I'll let you lead. I'm more of a follower anyways." Raja jested as he followed after her.
Swamp Siren5/30/24, 7:31 PM
Leaving Alder did her best to retrace her steps. A few times she stopped and looked at buildings she was mow using as land marks to remember her way. I took her a little bit and a few times of second guessing herself before she finally made it to the food hall.
robbedragon5/30/24, 9:30 PM
"Alder, you can ask for directions. You've only been here less than two days." Raja offered with a slight tease.
Swamp Siren5/30/24, 9:31 PM
Sighing, "I learn by doing..... " she didn't want to admit she hated asking for help
robbedragon5/30/24, 9:51 PM
"Alright but the offer stands." Raja assured her. He could see the mess hall but wasn't sure if he should point it out so instead he just stepped towards it so her eye would have to look in that general direction.
Swamp Siren5/30/24, 9:56 PM
Smiling to him snd patted his shoulder. "Thank you." Wrapping her arms around his, "Why don't you take the lead."
robbedragon5/31/24, 6:50 PM
Raja chuckled and pulled her playfully towards the mess hall. "You'll get the hang of it, I promise. Just remember the landmarks."
Swamp Siren5/31/24, 8:56 PM
Slowly shaking her head, "I really am trying."
robbedragon5/31/24, 8:59 PM
"Don't push yourself. You'll learn it eventually." Raja assured her as he held the door open.
Swamp Siren5/31/24, 9:36 PM
Walking past she smiled, "I'm sure you're right. But the sooner I learn the faster I can begin to help the village. "
robbedragon6/3/24, 10:01 PM
"That is true but nobody is expecting anything from you." Raja pointed out. "Well, nobody but Shulbari and he's an asshole."
Swamp Siren6/3/24, 10:09 PM
But was he? She wasn't sure. Raja knew him well. But she thought she could see something else in the gruff man. "One day at a time." She told herself
robbedragon6/4/24, 5:29 PM
"Exactly!" Raja exclaimed as he headed through the dinner line. "Take it one day at a time and accept that this, like all things in life, is a learning experience."
Swamp Siren6/5/24, 10:09 PM
Following behind Raja she nodded, "Its all new to me as well. Speaking in this language. The customs here. "
robbedragon6/5/24, 10:44 PM
"Well, it is like you've started a whole new life." Raja pointed out with a shrug as he started dishing food onto his plate. "I will help you as much as I possibly can as far as the cultural stuff. I mean, if I can teach these barbarians now to wear plaid with stripes, I can teach you to fit in." he joked.
Swamp Siren6/5/24, 11:04 PM
She laughed, a sound that was musical in sound, "I could only imagine how their clothing looked before you. " Loading her plate Alder moved to a table. She was not even paying any attention to people. If they were starting at her or not." (edited)
robbedragon6/5/24, 11:11 PM
"Oh, honey, you have no idea..." Raja said and an overly melodramatic way as he sat down across from her. "The men I can excuse because they were fishing and hunting but even the girls were wearing the same outfits day in and day out. ...and grays and whites were so common place. I had to get some color going on around here, girl."
Swamp Siren6/6/24, 6:39 PM
She laughed as she settled down. With out hesitation she dug into her meal. All things considered her life here so far had been great. Now she just hoped it would stay that way.
robbedragon6/6/24, 10:41 PM
Raja ate and made playful jokes. A few people would shoot nasty looks in their direction but he wasn't going to give them the satisfaction of seeing him react and he wasn't going to point it out to Alder, either.
Swamp Siren6/9/24, 10:49 AM
Ignoring them fully the Dalvis gave Raja her full attention as she softly laughed. It was nice to have a friend, and it was obvious that the two had become fast friends. Tail thumping on the floor she told him of her home, the differences of where she was from to here. And how it was going to take some time to adjust to everything.
robbedragon6/9/24, 11:16 AM
"You know, the village could provide you with a boat and equipment if you ever wanted to return." Raja suggested. He was trying to be optimistic but, there was something a bit somber in his words. "That is if you wanted to go home..." he added.
Swamp Siren6/9/24, 11:28 AM
"I have been thinking about it.... and honestly.... I don't know I'd I want to." Folding her hands infront of her she watched her scales glint under the dim light. "This village is nothing like my town. We had far more advanced techniques..... but..... it was too dangerous to go down to the ground. We live in the tree tops. And if someone ended up plummeting from the canopy.... it is assumed they are dead ..... I am sure they have already performed my funeral rights....."
robbedragon6/9/24, 11:31 AM
"I guess that's a bittersweet thing, then." Raja admitted. "On one hand, I'm glad you want to stay cause I enjoy your company but, on the other, it sounds like returning will take a lot more than a boat and some food."
Swamp Siren6/9/24, 11:33 AM
"Much more. The cliffs are very steep. I .... feel to the water." Sighing she lowered her eyes to the table, "Then there are the beasts of my home land. They make creatures here seem very tame."
robbedragon6/10/24, 7:40 PM
Raja was starting to understand just what kind of hellscape the Dalvis called home and he suddenly felt like he needed to offer some sort of comfort. "Your home sounds treacherous...." he admitted.
Swamp Siren6/10/24, 8:19 PM
"It may sound that way, but it is all we know. It is our way of life. I do not miss the darkness. I have honestly thought of making this my new home..."
robbedragon6/16/24, 11:49 AM
"You're always welcome to stay." Raja assured him. "At worst, you gotta deal with the loudmouth but, you know how to shut him up."
Swamp Siren6/16/24, 12:08 PM
"Surprisingly while we were walking.... he wasn't being offensive..... he was some what calm." With a grin, "I think I can handle him. I'll just have to see about getting my own place. "
robbedragon6/16/24, 12:10 PM
"Most of the village lives in the bunkhouses but, you're welcome to stay with me until you build your own house." Raja offered. "I don't mind having you around."
Swamp Siren6/16/24, 12:45 PM
"You sure I won't be in the way?" She really didn't want to hinder his work
robbedragon6/16/24, 3:46 PM
"In the way?" Raja chuckled. "Once the hunters accept you, I'll probably never see you." he teased. "You'll be out in the humid forest most of the time."
Swamp Siren6/16/24, 4:20 PM
"If you are sure. I've enjoyed your company. And I've loved watching you work."
robbedragon6/16/24, 5:19 PM
"It's no problem at all, Alder." Raja assured her. "It's what friends are for."
Swamp Siren6/16/24, 6:11 PM
Friend. It was a wonderful word to hear. With out realizing it a few tears rolled down her checks.
robbedragon6/16/24, 6:14 PM
"Girl, do not start crying in the middle of the mess hall." Raja teased in a playful whisper. "These big hulking guys will all start crying with you."
Swamp Siren6/16/24, 6:18 PM
Rubbing her cheek, "I doubt that." with a sniff, "Thank you. Didn't realize how much I needed to hear that. "
robbedragon6/16/24, 6:20 PM
Raja smiled and shook his head. "Come on. I managed to trade a bottle of ale for a shirt earlier today and I stole some of Nayzee's newest invention. She calls it 'Iced Scream' or something like that. It's delicious but it has to stay cold so let's go home and get drunk and eat some."
Swamp Siren6/16/24, 6:26 PM
She chuckled, "How did she ice a scream?" Getting up she took her plate and cup to put them away to be cleaned.
robbedragon6/16/24, 6:28 PM
"I'm not really sure but that's what I heard her call it. It's more like really cold milk but it's isn't like an milk ice cube. I'll show you." Raja assured her as he emptied his own dishes and put them in to be washed.
Swamp Siren6/16/24, 6:47 PM
Walking towards the front to leave she was careful not to bump anyone or knock anything with her tail.
robbedragon6/16/24, 6:50 PM
Raja led her back home, making playful banter and jokes along the way.
Swamp Siren6/16/24, 6:56 PM
Any tension and worry was gone. The feeling of being lost and isolated banished with the kind words from a wonderful person. Alder honestly couldn't ask for a better companion. He looked past her skin and tail, instead only seeing a friend. Her laughter was musical as she listened and responded in kind. Home. Yes this could be her home. In the light she was growing to love.

As the days extended into weeks, the village grew accustomed to Alder's presence. There were still villagers who seemed mistrusting of her but, even Shulbari seemed to take a much less abrasive approach as they would go out on hunts. The true turning point happened on a hunt where Shulbari stumbled upon a bear. He tried to use his spear to stop the angry beast but, she swatted him and the spear aside with such force that he was sent tumbling and the spear was knocked from his grip. There was a massive wound on his side and he thought for sure this would be his last hunt.
Swamp Siren6/16/24, 9:20 PM
The roar was what caught her attention first. As Shulbari was knocked to the ground she shook off her shock. With out hesitation she charged forward. Sword drawn she slashed at its rear leg to make it turn it's attention off of the downed man and on to her. Releasing a roar of her own her tail snapped on the ground, doing everything she could to get it to focus on her instead. "Over here! "
robbedragon6/16/24, 10:10 PM
The bear stopped short of ripping Shulbari to shreds as the blade sliced into her leg. She roared in pain and turned on the new assailant.
Swamp Siren6/16/24, 10:35 PM
"That's it!" Raising her sword she slashed at its nose. Hoping the pain will make it second guess fighting her. "Eyes on me!"
robbedragon6/17/24, 5:58 PM
The bear roared and reared back onto its hind legs. Shulbari held the massive gashes on his rib cage. The pain was worse than anything he'd ever felt before and he was struggling to keep himself awake as he felt the blood pooling under his palm.
Swamp Siren6/17/24, 6:11 PM
Slashing her sword back and forth she stomped her feet and roared. She would make the beast back away and hopefully leave. With it reared back she jabbed the point of her sword at its gut the ducked back again, playing a dangerous game of keep away
robbedragon6/17/24, 6:16 PM
The beast roared and swatted blindly. She was realizing that this was a battle she could not win but, she was afraid to turn her back on a prey so vicious and quick. She dropped back on to all fours and roared as she slowly backed away, testing to see if Alder would follow. Shulbari was losing his grip as the darkness seeped in around him. Death would surely claim him at this rate and, for the first time in a long time, he felt relief as a burden of his own making lifted from his conscience.
Swamp Siren6/17/24, 6:21 PM
Holding her sword steady she skirted around the beast. The last thing she needed was for the creature to step on Shulbari. Come on..... just run....... I need to get to him....
robbedragon6/17/24, 6:54 PM
The bear turned and backed away, giving warning swipes. When she realized Alder was walking around her but not getting any closer, she turned and ran into the woods towards the cub she'd been so eager to protect.
Swamp Siren6/17/24, 7:10 PM
Once it ran off Alder turned, sheathing her sword, and ran to Shulbari. Sliding down beside him she placed her hands on his. "Don't you dare give up on me! You aren't going out like this. The village needs you."
robbedragon6/17/24, 8:52 PM
Shulbari couldn't see, couldn't feel anything anymore but her voice... It called to him from the darkness, luring him back like a siren's song. 'You know me. I'm a fighter.' he thought, or did he speak it? He couldn't be sure anymore. Everything felt cold and distant as if he were in a dream and swimming against the current just to find air to fill his lungs.
Swamp Siren6/17/24, 8:57 PM
Grunting she hauled him up, "Don't you dare leave me...... we were finally getting along.... " with every bit of strength she had Alder struggled to her feet, his arm over her shoulder. Pushing herself she steadied herself. He was in no shape to go all the way back to the village. She couldn't leave him. Muttering curses in her mother language. She thought back on what she knew of the area. Gritting her teeth she drug him to where she knew there was a cave. Once inside she assist his wounds, made a small fire and began to gather things to treat the gash. With no cloth for bandages she tore the hem of her skirt. "Come on Shul-bar-EE. " (edited)
robbedragon6/17/24, 9:35 PM
No matter how much he tried, Shulbari could not open his eyes or move a muscle. He lost a lot of blood and needed the wound closed and rest. Right now, he could not help her or even himself.
Swamp Siren6/17/24, 9:48 PM
He was pale. Far more than she had seen him before. She hated leaving him but she needed to search for herbs to help him heal. "I'll be back.... I promise...." she doubted he could hear her. But it made her feel better to do it. Leaving she searched along the bases of trees and the rock out cropping. She had guarded several of the village healers while they gathered supplies, and in turn had learned a thing or two. With herbs, finely stripped bark, and several large leaves the dalvis returned to the cave. Setting everything thing on the ground she put her ear to his chest, listening to his heart beat. It was slow but present and Alder let out a sigh of relief. Setting back she set to work, placing the herbs on a flat stone, adding water from her pack, then grinding it with another stone till it was a past. Spreading it over the leaves she place that over his wound then used the bark strips to tie it in place. Next she ground another herd placed a small metal pot she carried on the fire and put the dust and water in it over the fire. Boiling down a tincture, Alder cooled it; lifting Shulbari's head she slowly poured the liquid into his mouth, watching for him to swallow
robbedragon6/17/24, 9:52 PM
Coolness flooded his sensations and Shulbari's mind sparked to life. 'Swallow' he commanded himself and his body obeyed, drinking down the refreshing cool liquid hungrily. That sensation gave him something to cling to, to grab hold of and claw his way back to the surface. He kept gulping back sips of the liquid until his body convulsed in a coughing fit. That was enough to get him to open his eyes, if only a little. Everything was blurry but, at least there was light and Alder, watching over him.
Swamp Siren6/17/24, 9:59 PM
Setting aside the liquid she placed a hand on his chest, her white and grey hair coming loose and falling over her shoulders and neck. "Easy." She softly cooed, "Try to rest." She couldn't help but have a small smile at seeing him open his eyes, even if it was slightly.
robbedragon6/17/24, 10:03 PM
"Bear?" Shulbari managed to cough out, trying to ensure they weren't still in danger. Not that he could do much in his current state and, he could barely make out shapes.
Swamp Siren6/17/24, 10:05 PM
"It ran.... " gently stroking his chest she tried to calm him, "I made it seem we were more trouble than we were worth and it retreated. We are safe in a cave."
robbedragon6/17/24, 10:08 PM
"Good..." Shulbari whispered and relaxed. He was asleep in an instant but, his breathing seemed more steady and shallow now and the wound was covered and no longer losing blood.
Swamp Siren6/17/24, 10:13 PM
Carefully she scooted closer and lifted his head then rested it on her lap. With a sigh she gently groom some of his hair from his eyes. "Don't worry..... I'll keep watch...."
robbedragon6/17/24, 10:14 PM
When he finally came to, it was dark but, he'd regained part of his strength and was able to fully open his eyes. "Alder?" he called out into the darkness of the cave.
Swamp Siren6/17/24, 10:19 PM
Slightly shift herself, "You're awake....." she had settled in with his head cradled in her lap. Her tail gently resting over his chest, letting her feel every breath he took.
robbedragon6/17/24, 10:20 PM
"You saved my life..." Shulbari realized. "I would've died if you weren't there."
Swamp Siren6/17/24, 10:27 PM
"I'm glad I was here. The village still needs you." She blinked down at him. Even though it was dark, she could see him. "I'm glad to see you are recovering. Was worried you would perish here."
robbedragon6/17/24, 10:28 PM
"I probably would've if it wasn't for you and..." he felt the gashes and the bark. "How did you know what to do with the wound?"
Swamp Siren6/17/24, 10:38 PM
"I've come out with some of the healers when they came to get medicinal herbs. They told me what they were looking for, and how it is to be prepared. I had used large leaves and stripped bark as bandage material in the past........ before coming here."
robbedragon6/17/24, 10:41 PM
"You actually paid attention on those jobs?" Shulbari questioned with a chuckle. "For me, those guard duty ones were boring and I was just trying to stay awake."
Swamp Siren6/17/24, 10:45 PM
She chuckled, "I enjoyed learning it. No offense but HollowOak is not as advanced as where I come from. I felt it was skills that would come in handy..... to help care for ......" she sighed, "What I hope will be my home..." Pulling a second water jug from her pack Alder uncapped it, "Are you thirsty?"
robbedragon6/17/24, 10:53 PM
"Turns out nearly dying leaves you pretty parched..." Shulbari admitted with a soft nod. Even that little movement made his head throb. "From now on, you're staying by my side."
Swamp Siren6/17/24, 10:57 PM
She blinked at him, her brow furrowing, "Yes... you said so when we met. To watch me yes?" Gently lifting his head she pressed the water flask to his lips.
robbedragon6/17/24, 11:01 PM
Shulbari drank it down and struggled to sit up before pushing it away. "No..." he stated. "I've trusted you for a while now. I just got used to having your company and enjoyed it so, I didn't say anything and, now that you saved me life..." he paused for a moment. "Alder, I'm glad you're here and, honestly, I've never hated your scales."
Swamp Siren6/17/24, 11:10 PM
As he struggled to sit up she helped getting him the rest of the way up. She paused at his proclamation, stunned. "You..... " she squinted at him then touched his forehead to just make sure he wasn'trunning a fever. Removing her hand she looked to him over. "You.... don't hate my scales...." she repeated a little unsure. Shifting her weight to lean on one hip and moved her legs that had been crossed for way too long. "I've enjoyed talking with you. The little competition we had going. Others may think you are just gruff and stubborn..... but I see more. I see a man that is caring and dedicated. I have enjoyed everything since I came here. The warm sun. The people.... and yes.... you...." (edited)
Shulbari scoffed and let out a soft chuckle. "I actually think your scales are beautiful. The way they shine in the sun makes it a shame your people live in the dark."
Swamp Siren6/18/24, 11:42 AM
"You sure your feeling ok?" She was used to him calling her a freak. Getting up she moved to a pile of sticks she had gathered and restarted a small fire for him to see by. Rubbing at her tired eyes she sat she sat and watched him from across the flames.
robbedragon6/18/24, 12:22 PM
"I'm a bit woozy and sore but, I'm alive." Shulbari assured her. "I wanted to hate you. I wanted you to be the threat I'm supposed to guard against but, you're not. The problem with destinies and prophecies is they're vague...."
Swamp Siren6/18/24, 12:27 PM
Propping her cheek on her up turned palm and resting her elbow on her knee she slumped, "You will protect your people of Hallow Oak. And if you allow it. I will be right behind you. I have watched you and have seen you are shouldering way too much on your own for far too long. You are wearing yourself thin. I will support you and follow your lead" She smiled, "A handsome man like you shouldn't work yourself to death." (edited)
robbedragon6/18/24, 6:14 PM
"You're just trying to seduce me." Shulbari teased and coughed which made him wince in pain. "I definitely can't get back to the village like this..." he admitted.
Swamp Siren6/18/24, 6:24 PM
It hurt her to see him like this, so frail. Getting to her feet she grabbed her sword, "I'll be right back. I need to get more supplies to retreat your wounds." Her gaze landed on him, "Please stay here. I promise I will be right back." Not waiting for his reply Alder turned to walk away, "And...... I'm being g honest when I say..... I wasn't trying to seduce you.... I'm only speaking a truth that I feel." With that she marched out. As quickly as she coul the Dalvis gathered more hebs, leaves, and stripped bark so that she could treat his wounds again.
robbedragon6/18/24, 6:44 PM
"Not like I can really go anywhere..." Shulbari muttered. "Maybe I'll jump up and dance a jig in your absence." he added as a joke.
Swamp Siren6/18/24, 7:09 PM
While she was gathering the last item a patter of water bounced off her scaled arm. "Ohhhh... no....." A bolt of lightning flashed followed close by a rumber of thunder. Jogging back to the cave rain drenched her. Stepping in she shivered as water dropped off her. Settling in near Shulbari she began to prepare the poultice fot his wounds.
robbedragon6/18/24, 7:15 PM
"Well, we aren't going out in that." Shulbari grumbled. He tried to sit up but the motions made him cry out and fall back.
Swamp Siren6/18/24, 7:30 PM
Placing a hand on his chest, "Just relax. We aren't leaving till you are a little better. For now we are safe. I can hunt for us... and I'll gather rain in awater skin to refresh out stock." Removing the makeshift bandage she checked the wound for signs of infection. With a torn piece of her skirt she washed away the dried blood and old poultice. "Not looking too bad" pushing back wet strands of hair from face she gently applied the herbs then rebandahed him. Tail thumping she mixed up the herbs to help with pain and offered it to him to drink.
robbedragon6/18/24, 7:41 PM
Shulbari took the drink and tried his best to sit up. "That tastes terrible..." he complained. "Think I'd be used to drinking concoctions like that by now."
Swamp Siren6/18/24, 7:46 PM
"I wish I had a way to make it appetizing. Unfortunately there isn't anything I can do." Taking the water skin and a fresh clean leaf she stepped out into the rain. Making the leaf into a funnel Alder gathered fresh water into the skin. Returning to Shulbari's side water ran off her body and glitter on her scales. Sitting down she set the skin close so he could grab it if he needed it then unbound her hair. Running her fingers through her long locks, "When it slacks up I'll go hunt for some food. It may be bland but we won't starve...."
robbedragon6/18/24, 7:48 PM
The water glitening on her curves and the shortened skirt made Shulbari's mind wander. "Alder, come closer." he beckoned from his seated position.
Swamp Siren6/18/24, 8:01 PMLooking to him while pulling her fingers through her hair as she untangled it her brow furrowed. Tired and not wanting to stand she crawled over to sit next to him. "Is something wrong?" (edited)
robbedragon6/18/24, 8:22 PM
Shulbari pulled her closer with his hand on her hip. He pulled her down to his level and pressed his lips to hers.
Swamp Siren6/18/24, 8:27 PM
She sharply inhaled before leaning in to him. Pulling away "Shul-bar-EE?" Pushing her wet hair back she gazed down at him, propping herself on one hand as she leaned over him.
robbedragon6/18/24, 8:39 PM
"Now that I know I can trust you, I can stop fighting myself." Shulbari admitted. "I've been wanting to do that for a while."
Swamp Siren6/18/24, 8:46 PM
Searching his face for a moment Alder leaned in and pressed her lips to his, "It is something I have wanted." She whispered against them then pressed in deeper.
robbedragon6/18/24, 8:57 PM
Shulbari let his hands wander over her body as he deepened the kiss. He wanted more but the pain in his side won out in the end and he had to pull away panting and held his ribs.
Swamp Siren6/18/24, 9:08 PM
Pressing her hand to his side, "You need to rest." Rubbing her own eye, "Think we both do. With it raining most creatures won't be moving. " she hadn't slept while tending to Shulbari.
robbedragon6/18/24, 9:10 PM
Shulbari laid back and held out an arm. "Lay with me. We'll rest through the rain and see where we are on the hunt after."
Swamp Siren6/18/24, 9:16 PM
Tugging at her clothes, "I'm soaking wet......"
robbedragon6/18/24, 9:20 PM
"...and I'm bloody and beaten half to death." Shulbari retorted. "Just lay down with me."
Swamp Siren6/18/24, 9:35 PM
Scooting she nestled against him, using his arm as a pillow. Tucking close she sighed. He was warm and it was comforting to feel his firm body next to her. Her tail wrapped over his leg.
robbedragon6/18/24, 10:07 PM
Shulbari held her close as he slowly drifted off to sleep.
Swamp Siren6/18/24, 10:26 PM
Exhausted from stress of fighting and tending to Shulbari, Alder drifted off quickly.
robbedragon6/18/24, 10:28 PM
After a few hours, Shulbari started to wake up. The sound of rain had disappeared and his shoulder was getting stiff.
Swamp Siren6/18/24, 10:33 PM
Brow furrowing Alder groaned and opened a lavender eye. Lifting her head she looked around. Turning her head to Shulbari she looked him over, "Jow are you feeling?"
robbedragon6/18/24, 10:36 PM
"Mostly just stiff. Rock and ground don't make a comfortable place to sleep." Shulbari admitted. "...but the rain stopped and we should probably go out for a hunt."
Swamp Siren6/18/24, 10:46 PM
"We? Do you think you can handle moving around?" Pulling her hair back and tying it near the end.
robbedragon6/18/24, 10:49 PM
Shulbari pulled the bandaging away and looked at the wound. "I have an idea but it might hurt me more than help..." he admitted.
Swamp Siren6/18/24, 10:52 PM
Touching the edges of the wound, Alder checked that there still wasn't infection setting in. "What are you planning?"
robbedragon6/18/24, 10:55 PM
"We got fire from that creepy temple or whatever hellscape those scorpions were in." Shulbari reminded her as he started heating up his hand. "Maybe if I burn it closed, it will heal faster. That or I'll make things worse or pass out from the pain."
Swamp Siren6/18/24, 11:13 PM
She stared up at him, "I know better than to ask if you're serious.... it may help. I'm not sure. I know it won't bleed.... but I'm no Healer..." (edited)
robbedragon6/18/24, 11:31 PM
"Only one way to find out...." Shulbari shrugged and he took a deep breath before pressing his red hot hand to the wound. The pain was excruciating and the smell of burnt flesh made his stomach turn.
Swamp Siren6/18/24, 11:43 PM
She flinched and grimaced as she watched. Alder knew Shulbari was tough.... but this was a whole new level. "If this works should we hunt or just try to make it back to the village? " (edited)
robbedragon6/19/24, 11:54 AM
Shulbari's hand was shaking as he pulled it away and he was trembling all over. "I think I'm...." he started to speak and then his eyes rolled back in his head and he slumped over, unable to handle the pain anymore.
Swamp Siren6/19/24, 12:06 PM
Grabbing him so he didn't hit his head she eased him down. "I don't think you are going any where....." she sighed. "I'll go hunt some prey..... and see if I can find more herbs...." grabbing her bow and quiver she stood.
robbedragon6/19/24, 9:21 PM
Shulbari eased into a restful sleep.
Swamp Siren6/19/24, 9:38 PM
They would not be returning to the village for a little longer it seemed. She was sure Raha was going f to be in a tizzy when they showed back up. Alder bit her lip as she thought on whether or not she'd tell her best friend about the kiss..... well..... kisses.. The sound of squeals snapped her back to reality. Pulling an arrow she eased forward as she knocked it. A family of boar rooted around near the base of a tree. Settling her attention on a smaller individual. Taking aim she watched it, keeping her breathing steady. The creature presented it side to her and the arrow flew. A shrill squeal rang out as the small creature was struck. The rest scattered but the one that had be shot stumbled, fell to it's side and kicked while squealing. Rushing forward Alder, drawing her dagger. With a swift swip at its neck the creature began to fall still. Not wanting to draw attention to their hiding spot the Dalvis processed the boar where it laid, thaking the meat she was going to use and left the organs and skin for scavenger. Sliding her prize into an oiled bag Alder headed back, searching as she went for herds. By the time she made it back she had found more medicinal herbs as well as wild lemon grass and rosemary. Stacking stones on either side of where she had made the fire, Alder laid the flat one on top and placed the meat with herbs to cook. (edited)
robbedragon6/19/24, 9:58 PM
The smell of food brought Shulbari back to the waking world and his stomach growled angrily. "Whatever that is, it smells delicious...." he mumbled.
Swamp Siren6/19/24, 10:01 PM
Cleaning her hand with water from the skin she sat beside him. "Good to see you're awake again. How are you feeling?"
robbedragon6/19/24, 10:41 PM
"Hungry." Shulbari admitted as he sat himself up. It seemed to go faster and easier than last time. "I must be healing at least a bit."
Swamp Siren6/19/24, 10:48 PM
Taking her knife she cut a piece off the roasting meat then speared. Blowing on it she offered it over to Shulbari, her free hand cupped under it so it wouldn't hit the floor.
robbedragon6/19/24, 11:10 PM
Shulbari gratefully took the chunk of meat and groaned as the seasoning hit his tongue. "Damn, you could put Nayzee to shame." he complimented. "That or I'm just really hungry."
Swamp Siren6/19/24, 11:18 PM

"I.... actually learned what herbs were giid for cooking from her." She looked away as she tried not to focus too hard on his lips. Cutting more pieces she took one for herself then offered another to him. "Shulbari..... you had said I'm to stay by your side from now on.... what did you mean by that?" (edited)
robbedragon6/20/24, 5:34 PM
"I'd think it was pretty straight forward." Shulbari chuckled as he chewed at the meat. "You're a good partner to have. You help me protect the village, you help me on hunts and I could see having you as my partner for life in every form." he offered.
Swamp Siren6/20/24, 5:50 PM
If she wasn't so dark skin it would have showed she was blushing. "I..... " Was she hearing him right? Was the man that had been calling her a scaled freak basically saying she was his.... what? Life partner? Not wanting to waste the opportunity and leaned in and pressed a kiss on his lips then murmured against his lips, "I wouldn't want to be eith any one else." Leaning back from him she moved the flat stone from tbe fire and placed it infront of them. Slicing the meat into strips Alder lifted one and offered it o Shulbari. (edited)
robbedragon6/22/24, 12:19 PM
Shulbari gladly took the meat. He kept shooting her little glances and smiles as they ate.
Swamp Siren6/22/24, 12:55 PM
Picking up a bit of meat, "You're strangely quiet..... for once....."
robbedragon6/22/24, 1:48 PM
"Well, I think I've said all I can say for now. At this point, actions speak louder than words." Shulbari admitted.
Swamp Siren6/22/24, 2:01 PM
She could only guess what he meant by that. After eating her fill Alder turned her attention to Shulbari's wounds. It weeped a little from being burned but no sign of infection. That was good.
robbedragon6/22/24, 3:19 PM
The flesh was still tender but, now that it was no longer bleeding and he had protein in him, he could feel his strength returning a bit. "Thank you for being here with me." he said. "I would certainly be dead if not for you."
Swamp Siren6/22/24, 4:54 PM
Settling back she looked him over. " I am glad you allow me to join you. And I will do it again if necessary. Besides," turning her arm over she inspected a few scales that had been itching her and gave them a gentle scratch. "You would have done the same for me." (edited)
robbedragon6/22/24, 5:03 PM
"I would have." Shulbari admitted. "I would do the same for any of the villagers but, especially for you."
Swamp Siren6/22/24, 5:14 PM
"Because you are a good man. It's one of the things I love about you." Carefully she knocked a few scaled loose and bushed them to the ground. (edited)
robbedragon6/22/24, 7:52 PM
Shulbari chuckled and shook his head. "Are you falling to pieces on me?" he teased.
Swamp Siren6/22/24, 8:21 PM
Grabbing one of the scales she threw it at him, "No. Just losing old scales. You're not going to get that lucky and get rid of me so easily. "
robbedragon6/22/24, 8:32 PM
"Good cause I might actually shed a single manly tear if you did." Shulbari shot back.
Swamp Siren6/22/24, 8:35 PM
"I'm only worth one?" She teased as she brushed her other arm.
robbedragon6/22/24, 8:51 PM
"I mean, that's more than I've shed in my entire life so you should feel honored." Shulbari smirked.
Swamp Siren6/22/24, 8:57 PM
Scooting closer Alder laid back placing her head in his lap. Looking up at him she softly smiled. "I'm all ready honored. "
robbedragon6/22/24, 9:13 PM
Shulbari gently ran his fingers through her hair as he held her, letting his hands roam over her body. "You have no idea how hard it's been..." he murmured.
Swamp Siren6/22/24, 9:17 PM
"I really don't..... I honestly had no idea you care..... " raising her arms over her head she let his explore. (edited)
robbedragon6/22/24, 10:02 PM
"I have wanted to pull you into my arms every time we've been out on hunts but, I couldn't let my guard down." Shulbari pointed out.
Swamp Siren6/22/24, 10:07 PM
"Whats stopping you now?" The words a soft whisper as she reached up and stroked his cheek.
robbedragon6/22/24, 10:31 PM
"Absolutely nothing..." Shulbari realized and he leaned down and locked her in a passionate kiss. (Fade to black)
Swamp Siren6/28/24, 1:38 PM
With some time, effort, and the idiot searing his wound so it would stop bleeding; Alder propped Shulbari as she lead him out of the cave they had been using as a refuge. Finding a straight, young tree she let him lean on an old oak as she took her sword to it. "Here. Try this." she offered.
robbedragon6/28/24, 6:48 PM
Shulbari gratefully took the makeshift crutch and used it to help take pressure off his left side as he walked. He'd probably be laid up in the med tent for another week but, they were used to seeing him by now and he had come away from this hunt with an amazing prize.
Swamp Siren6/28/24, 7:02 PM
Keeping close with sword drawn Alder kept her attention on their surroundings. She'd cast a glance at him then kerp walking
robbedragon6/28/24, 7:04 PM
Shulbari struggled to keep pace with her but the crutch was helping. He was making some grunting noises as he hobbled along but, he powered through on sheer spite.
Swamp Siren6/28/24, 7:33 PM
Slowing she settled next to him, "are you ok?"
robbedragon6/29/24, 10:04 AM
"I will... be..." Shulbari grunted out. "Just need... safety..." he added. Each step burned and it felt like he was struggling to breathe but the village was so close, he just needed to hang in there.
Swamp Siren6/29/24, 10:15 AM
"Stuborn man...." she muttered, "You set the pace and don't push it."
robbedragon6/29/24, 10:17 AM
He didn't respond but kept on going, leaning heavily on the wood with each step.
Swamp Siren6/29/24, 10:55 AM
Glowering at him she said nothing and continued on. As the walls of the village came into view Alder sighed in relief.
robbedragon6/29/24, 3:23 PM
Shulbari gritted his teeth, sucked in a lung full and pushed on to the gates. Once he was past that point, he could rest; he just needed to get there. The pain was excruciating and his head was swimming but he stared at his goal and kept pushing forward.
Swamp Siren6/29/24, 3:24 PM
Shoving on the gate, "Ask. For. Help. If I'm going 5o be by your side, I am going to aid you in everything. "

"I'm not... refusing... aid..." Shulbari panted. "I'm... struggling... to... stay..." his eyes rolled back in his head as he tipped forward, passed out in the dirt at the gate.
Swamp Siren6/29/24, 4:14 PM
Catching him before his head hurt the ground she eased him down. Gathering herself Alder pushed on the gate, trying to get it wide enough to slip through.
robbedragon6/29/24, 6:29 PM
Raja came rushing over as the gate opened and helped pull it aside. There was a frantic look on his face that eased a bit when he saw Alder. "Oh, thank Serahistia!" he exclaimed. "I was so worried when you both didn't make it back before dark." he looked down at Shulbari and gasped. "What happened to him?!"
Swamp Siren6/29/24, 6:41 PM
"Rah-Jah." she could have cried at seeing her friend, "Help me get him in. He was attacked by a bear."
robbedragon6/29/24, 10:38 PM
"A bear did this?" Raja questioned as he helped lift Shulbari up as much as he could to drag him inside the walls. "Why does it look like he was burned?"
Swamp Siren6/29/24, 10:41 PM
Supporting Shilbari's other side, "Because he burned himself to stop the bleeding.... "
robbedragon6/29/24, 11:46 PM
"I think I've heard the healers talking about that. They said you can burn a wound closed if you're desperate enough. They called it Carter-izing or something like that. Surprised Shulbari was able to think that up if I'm being honest."
Swamp Siren6/29/24, 11:50 PM
"I had tried treating him with herbs...... but he kept bleeding..." right now she wasn't going to even talk about what happened back in the cave. " Let's get him to the healers. Maybe he can talk to Anastasia when he wakes up."
robbedragon6/30/24, 12:00 AM
"Yeah but we might need some help. He's heavier than he looks." Raja admitted, struggling to hold up Shulbari's dead weight. He noticed some of the fishermen and whistled. "Can you help us carry him to the healers?" he called. The rushed to Shulbari's aide and one of them scooped the hunter up and cracled him as he walked off towards the healers. "So... A bear, huh?" Raja questioned once they were sure Shulbari would be taken care of. "How'd you get out of that unscathed?"
Swamp Siren6/30/24, 12:02 AM
Her tail flicking "Because I managed to make it seem like we were more trouble than we were worth then drug him into a cave to recover."
robbedragon6/30/24, 12:06 AM
"That was smart." Raja mused as the followed after the fisherman and Shulbari. "Least we can do is make sure he'll survive and, if he wakes up, we can tell him he's off babysitting duties for a few days while he recovers." he offered, trying to lighten the mood a little.
Swamp Siren6/30/24, 12:07 AM
"Babysitting?" She questioned as she blinked at him.
robbedragon6/30/24, 12:27 AM
"Keeping his eye on you and watching you like a hawk." Raja pointed out. "A babysitter is someone who watches your children while you're away, normally."
Swamp Siren6/30/24, 12:30 AM
"Ooooo......" she looked away as she followed the other men, "You know he won't let that stand."
robbedragon6/30/24, 12:33 AM
"I'm kind of surprised he's still giving you such crap about this trust stuff." Raja muttered. "I mean, you've been here awhile and you went on that journey to unlock the fire stuff with us. How could he not trust you after all of that?"
Swamp Siren6/30/24, 12:36 AM
"I don't think it's about trust ....... " Brushing her hair from her face a light blush spread over her nose.
robbedragon6/30/24, 12:39 AM
Raja looked at her and cocked an eyebrow. "What does that..." he started to question it and then he noticed the blush. "Oh...my...goddess! I'm sitting here worried sick about you and you're off bumping uglies in the woods?!" he snapped in a tense whisper.
Swamp Siren6/30/24, 12:43 AM
Shoving a hand over his mouth, "Its not like that!" She muttered in a hushed tone. Motioning to her torn skirt, "After he was hurt I treated his wounds...... and..... he admitted that...... he never hated my scales..... and that I'm to be by his side from now on....."
robbedragon6/30/24, 1:30 AM
"D'awww...." Raja gushed. "I was wondering when you to love birds were gonna stop dancing around the subject and just kiss already." he teased. "I want details when we're alone."
Swamp Siren6/30/24, 9:17 AM
Wrapping her arms around herself she stared at him, "What are you talking about? Have you not been listening? I was convinced he really didn't like me. He wasn't out right hateful most of the time...... but he constantly called me a scaled freak."
robbedragon6/30/24, 9:20 AM
Raja chuckled and shook his head. "Nah, I get that but, believe it or not, that was Shulbari going easy on you. See, Shulbari only has two settings when it comes to people. He's either very protective of them or outright despises them and wants to beat the shit out of them. For those he hates, he doesn't call them names, he just attacks them. For those he protects, he doesn't pay much attention to them outside of protecting them. The fact that he called you anything at all means you were on his mind more than anyone else."
Swamp Siren6/30/24, 9:50 AM
Alder stared at him her brow furrowed then back to the limp form being carried. Sighing she folded her arms over her chest and shivered a little. She hadn't realized it. And now that it was on her mind Alder was going to struggle to rest. He gave her a clue that he cared and she was oblivious to it. Hopefully the idiot would pull through this and not die from complications.
robbedragon6/30/24, 9:57 AM
Raja noticed her quiet and pulled her into a hug. "Alder, relax. Shulbari will be fine. The idiot probably just got an infection or something because he put his dirty hand on the wound without washing it off first. Our healers are the best around, they'll have him back up and on his feet within a week. Less if he wakes up before then cause he'll storm out against their wishes." he offered in an attempt to console her.
Swamp Siren6/30/24, 10:04 AM
"I'm sure your right." Pushing her bedraggled hair dmfrom her face she turned to her friend and wrapped her arms around him. "Once he's settled I need to get cleaned up and rest. "
robbedragon6/30/24, 10:09 AM
"Probably a good idea." Raja offered. "For now, go check on your boyfriend." he teased in a playful whisper.
Swamp Siren6/30/24, 10:14 AM
Glancing at him she smiled leaned in closer, "Husband actually. " then turned to follow after the said man.
robbedragon6/30/24, 10:30 AM
"WHAT?!" Raja blurted out, his eyes bugging out of his head. "You were gone for two days! Why so fast?!"
Swamp Siren6/30/24, 10:34 AM
Putting a finger to her lips she tried to hush him, "Its not official..... I'll tell you later."
robbedragon6/30/24, 10:38 AM
"You better give me all the details, girl." Raja hissed with a pouty face. "I didn't even know he was capable of being tied down."
Swamp Siren6/30/24, 10:54 AM
"I didn't either. It was his idea......" waving a hand, "I'll tell you everything. I swear...... and. ..... I may have a task for you...."
robbedragon6/30/24, 12:11 PM
"Alright, go be with Shulbari." Raja prodded. "Whatever it is, it can wait until he's up and mobile."
Swamp Siren6/30/24, 12:36 PM
Hugging Raja, Alder turned the jogged off to the healers tent. Slipping in she eased over to where Shulbari was set to rest. Settling on the ground near his legs she folded her arms and rested her head on them. (edited)
robbedragon6/30/24, 12:56 PM
Shulbari was out of it as the healers got to work inspecting his wound and making sure nothing else had been broken. A healer questioned Alder on how he'd gotten his injuries and the burn and then set to work making sure there was nothing serious.
Swamp Siren6/30/24, 1:01 PM
After answering everything she could see battled with staying with him or going home and getting cleaned. She settle on leaving after he regained consciousness. Leaning her head over she began to drift off.
robbedragon6/30/24, 2:11 PM
After a while, Shulbari groggily came to and opened his eyes. "D-did we make it?" he wondered, unsure if the agonizing walk back to the village had even occurred or if it were some sort of fever dream.
Swamp Siren6/30/24, 2:15 PM
Groggily Alder lifted her head and rubbed her eyes with one hand. "You colapsed at the gate. But we made it inside. You're in the medical tent."
robbedragon6/30/24, 2:21 PM
"That's good..." Shulbari murmured. "They'll save me."
Swamp Siren6/30/24, 2:22 PM
"Save you?" She leaned closer a little panicked.
robbedragon7/4/24, 1:59 PM
"Well, yeah..." Shulbari smiled as he looked at her. "Clearly something is wrong if I pass off from that little hike and I do have a burn on my ribs now." he added with a forced chuckle.
Swamp Siren7/4/24, 2:07 PM
Melting back onto the floor she groaned, "You're going to be the death of me...."

[PRP] Creative Minds - Amali X Cochran

  1. robbedragon4/3/24, 12:26 PM
Cochran stared at the small shelf in disbelief. Someone had filled one of the library shelves with the poorly bound anonymously written books he'd been dropping around the village since he was a child. It wasn't the fact that people were reading them that bothered him but to have them on display like this felt embarrassing to an extreme degree. This was the one thing he thought his bad luck couldn't possibly ever effect and yet, here he stood staring at a wall of his texts. Part of him wanted to pull them down and toss them in a fire but, that would be suspicious and, there was no telling how many people had already read them. The other half was a bit proud to see his works displayed but he'd never admit to it. He turned, dropped his head down to hide the flush in his cheeks and started heading out as quickly as he could without looking up at where he was going.

  2. [12:27 PM]
@NatiStorm If you want to have Amali meet the author. XD
  3. April 9, 2024
  4. NatiStorm4/9/24, 2:57 AM
Amali was on her way to return the latest romance novel to the library when she spotted Cochran standing in front of the small section of writings. Just as she was about to call out in greeting, he turned with his head down and ran right into her. "Hey- Ow!" She stumbled back a few steps from the force and dropped the bound pages she had been holding. Once she regained her balance she reached for the writing she had dropped. "Hey, Cochran, right?" Pausing while she reached down, she looked up at the clumsy man before her. With the vest she was wearing, if he looked at her, there was a good chance he was getting a full view of her cleavage. "Do you like them?" She batted her eyes before retrieving the dropped writing. "The stories that is. I saw you standing in front of them. Do you have a favorite?" (edited)
  5. [2:58 AM]
@robbedragon Don't hate her, it's just her nature xD
  6. robbedragon4/9/24, 12:25 PM
Caught off guard and even more embarrassed, Cochran looked at Amali then the book she held and then back at the shelf. "You really shouldn't waste your time reading those. They aren't very good." he warned. If Amali had read them, there was no telling how many of his weird dreams were now a part of one of her songs or stories and if that was the case, no amount of fire would remove those from existence now. His face was bright red at this point and he felt like he was about to pass out.
  7. [12:25 PM]
@NatiStorm I wouldn't dream of it. Her flirty nature actually makes me chuckle.
  8. NatiStorm4/9/24, 3:10 PM
Puzzled, Amali looked Cochran over, head to toe. He had never, not once, blushed when she flirted with him. Even now as she postured and eyed him, the man seemed more focused on the writings than her. On more than one occasion Amali wondered if the laborer played for Raja's team. So why was he blushing now if it wasn't because of her? Was it the stories that brought this heat to his cheeks? "What are you talking about? These are quality entertainment!" She declared holding the bound papers up in front of her. "Though I admit there are a few writing errors and the overall story telling could use a bit of a dramatic flare but the characters are prefect! It really captures life here at HollowOak." The smile on her face as she talked was genuine. Looking to the shelf of writings past Cochran her smile faded and she sighed deeply. "I wish I knew who was writing these. With a little guidance the writing could be just as marvelous as the storyline. I also want to ask the writer to collaborate with me, so many of these stories would make great songs." Perhaps if she told enough people word would get around to the author.
  9. [3:10 PM]
    @robbedragon
  10. robbedragon4/9/24, 5:45 PM
"Oh... Ummm... Well, I'm sure if the writer wanted to be known, they would've put their name on there somewhere." Cochran pointed out, trying to regain his composure. "I should probably get going." he offered, turning to leave.
  11. [5:46 PM]
    @NatiStorm
  12. NatiStorm4/9/24, 6:00 PM
Amali narrowed her eyes suspiciously as she moved to cut Cochran off. "True. Though I find it strange for someone to make so many little writings without wanting recognition." She leaned in a bit closer to him, almost pushing the writing she held to his chest. "It's almost as if the author never expected these to become popular within the village. Tell me, Cochran, if you think the stories are so horrible, why are you standing in front of this section blushing so hard?" Her voice was almost sensual and full of accusations.
  13. [6:00 PM]
    @robbedragon
  14. robbedragon4/9/24, 6:07 PM
Cochran shuddered and went darker red as he tried to squeeze past her. "Please let me go, Amali. I have to go do dishes before the mess hall can start dinner." he urged. It wasn't a lie that dishes had to be done but after breaking so many of their dishes, he was banned from the kitchens.

[PRP] Inventing New Ways to Hunt - PakhetXGuy

  1. robbedragon4/3/24, 12:34 PM
"Son of a...." Pakhet snarled as she stared at her bow in disbelief. She had the perfect shot lined up on a deer and was just about to take it when her bow snapped in half. She'd been maintaining it but, even with good maintenance, ten years of constant daily use will wear down anything and, it had finally broken. The bow breaking was an issue but, what was bothering her was her quarry had escaped and it could be days or weeks before she could fashion another good bow together. She could quickly make a makeshift bow but it wouldn't be sturdy enough to apply the draw strength she required and she couldn't bare the thought of missing out on another kill because of a broken bow. She needed something fast. She went back to her camp and did a quick inventory of her pelts and extra meat to see if she had anything to trade for a bow in HollowOak but, it had been a hard year for hunting and trapping and she did not have nearly as much extras as she would've liked. It was hard enough just being allowed to enter HollowOak anymore since three of the villagers had been killed by other outcasts. She was already barely trusted within its walls and now, she had to bribe guards just to get inside to trade. If only there was a way to solve her problem without needing to go in the village...
    Revel

  2. Revel4/3/24, 1:21 PM
Guy was frustrated, he'd gone to the village to do some trading but no one had bene interested in the inventions he'd taken with him, except for one child who had wanted the little carved dog, that you pulled along and the wheels moved, making it look like the dog was walking, that had taken him a long while to make, to figure out how to put the things together, though he wasn't so concerned with how it looked, the child's mother had looked at it in horror and dragged him away. He trudged home with some things he HAD manage to trade for, supplies for whatever he needed. He headed back towards his hut about half a day's walk away from the village, his pack making noise as he went, clattering with the wooden things inside.

  3. robbedragon4/3/24, 1:25 PM
Pakhet was heading towards HollowOak with her pack laden with furs, pelts and salted meats when something caught her attention, a noise she was unfamiliar with. She slipped into the brush to see what manner of beast could make such god-awful noise and spotted a stranger she'd never seen before. He dressed like an Outcast but, he carried such strange contraptions with him. She watched him for a bit, slowly stalking him along the trail to ensure he was no threat before finally stepping out of the bushes to reveal herself. "You there!" she called out to him.
  4. Revel4/3/24, 1:26 PM
Guy screamed, holding his hands to his chest, lifting a leg up, it was only a short scream, til he realised it was another person "don't DO that to a person" he said, before letting out a whoosh of breath, relieved it wasnt anything sinister.
  5. robbedragon4/3/24, 1:29 PM
It was quite unusual to see an Outcast frighten so easily and Pakhet couldn't help but chuckle. "Relax, if I wanted to harm you, I would not have announced myself." she assured him, putting her hands up. "Tell me, do the villagers let you come and go easily enough? I'm in need of trade and they keep barring the way for me."
  6. Revel4/3/24, 1:39 PM
Guy shrugged "they do, but they don't usually like what i have to trade, unless it's boooooring" he pouted, being a little dramatic seemed to be his nature. "I fix things for them though, in return for supplies, though the more times i fix things, the less i seem to have to do next time" he sulked about that. "SO i guess they trade ok with me ... they don't hate me anyway" in fact he'd been described as harmless, though he'd never heard anyone say it to his face.
  7. robbedragon4/3/24, 1:43 PM
"I try to trade them pelts and meat but, they seem very untrusting of Outcasts of late. It is understandable but, I chose to be an Outcast so I could hunt unabated by the rules of the Hunter's Guild and now, I have broken my bow." she explained and she held the splintered wood up to show him. "You say you can fix things, right? Can you fix this?"
  8. Revel4/3/24, 1:46 PM
Guy nodded solemnly "I get that i get that... people being killed was horrible, i'm glad i wasn't anywhere near there, though i trade with outcasts too, so i guess they don't have reason to hurt me either" He sighed. When she brought out the bow his eyes lit up "Oooooh.... i don't think so... but i have some prototypes of some new bows, i even have this thing that strings them for me, it pulls the wood down without using my own strength, meaning i can string it much tighter than most... come come... it's only a couple hours walk from here.... i'll show you" he didn't even wait to see if she was following, he just motioned her to come, with his arm and started walking, silent except for mutterings over the broken bow.
  9. robbedragon4/3/24, 1:54 PM
Pakhet was a bit hesitant at first but, her curiosity won out in the end and she followed after him. "D-do you make a habit of talking to yourself?" she questioned about his strange muttering.
  10. Revel4/3/24, 2:08 PM
Guy turned, surprised, as if he'd forgotten the woman following him "Oh... uh... i guess? maybe, i can't say i've noticed, i was just... thinking out loud?" he said. "not long now" he said, when they were nearer to his hut, the path clearly worn now.
  11. robbedragon4/3/24, 2:09 PM
"You're an odd guy...." Pakhet muttered, shaking her head. "By the way, my name is Pakhet. What's yours?"
  12. Revel4/3/24, 2:11 PM
Guy laughed "yeah i've heard that one before, i'm Guy" he said, picking up his pace, he wanted to show her the bows he was experimenting with
  13. robbedragon4/3/24, 2:13 PM
"Wait, your name is Guy?" Pakhet questioned. "That's an odd name but, I suppose it's fitting." she mused with a bit of a smirk. "Tell me Guy, do you also make traps?"
  14. Revel4/3/24, 2:14 PM
Guy shrugged, they were almost at his hut, "It's what i've always been called so i guess it's my name? i dunno.. isn't that how names work?" he was practically jogging now, even with his full pack on his back, his feet, in their weird boots, making not much noise as he went "Sure i do, how do you think i eat fresh meat"
  15. robbedragon4/3/24, 2:19 PM
Pakhet was starting to realize where all the noise was coming from which brought her attention to something else. Guy himself did not seem to be making noise, only his strange large pack of contraptions. "How do you step so silently? Had you not been carrying all of those strange things clanging together in your bag, I would've never known you were in the woods nearby." she realized.
  16. Revel4/3/24, 2:21 PM
Guy smiled and stopped, lifting his foot up "They're padded underneath, i have to replace it often but it's animal fur and leather, if you use soft leather and layer it enough, it's almost like the soft pads of a cat or a dog" he said, really proud of his boots. (edited)
  17. robbedragon4/3/24, 2:25 PM
"Interesting..." Pakhet mused. "This could aide in my hunting. I cannot wait to see these bows and traps you've created." she admitted with a bit of reserved excitement in her words.
  18. Revel4/3/24, 2:28 PM
Guy grinned "it takes a bit of practice" he said as they walked "I can't wait to show you, i've been trying this new thing... but i can't seem to get the idea to work" he looked downtrodden again before perking up "We're here!" he said, the sound of chickens coming from somewhere behind the hut emergeing from the gloom of the forest but mostly it seemed to blend in. "come in come in" he said, opening his door and setting his pack down before he disappeared into another room.
  19. robbedragon4/3/24, 2:31 PM
Pakhet walked inside and looked around a bit, eyeing the many 'creations' he had laying about. "You make a lot of things. I must assume they do not always work according to plan, yes?"
  20. Revel4/3/24, 2:34 PM
Guy came out with several bows in his arms, and something that looked like... a sideways bow on a sword hilt ... he put them down carefully on a realtively clear table "No but most things dont work the first time, does a child walk steadily when it first stands?" he said before disappearing again, coming back out with some strange contraption "This is what pulls the bow down, you put it in here, then move the handle up and down and it pulls or releases the sides of the bow, you don't have to use nearly as much strength and it holds it steady so you can string it, that way you can use both hands"
  21. robbedragon4/3/24, 2:44 PM
She looked the odd contraption over with a curious eye. "Can you show me?" she asked. "Restringing bows is always such a hassle and, over time, the bow grows lax from being bent which means the string does not give as much pressure behind it and that makes the shot weak."
  22. Revel4/3/24, 2:47 PM
Guy grabbed one of the bows he'd brought out and showed her, he inserted the ends into the slots in the 'machine' so it sat, then turned to the handle, he pulled down on it until the bow was pulled down enough, he would have explained exactly how it worked but most people didn't care, just that it DID, then he strung the bow, before releasing the handle to show a perfectly strung bow "The only down side is... you need this to re-string it and.. well it's not exactly portable, i haven't figured out how to make one... travel-sized"
  23. robbedragon4/3/24, 2:53 PM
Pakhet was astonished to see something so simple and yet so useful. "To be honest, most hunters would end their hunt after a string breaks either way. Even if the hunter is composed enough not to swear and curse at the top of their lungs, the sound will alert the beast in the area and there will be no quarry for many hours afterward." she pointed out to him. "Add to that the fact that a hunter will then need to spend possibly hours restringing their bow and they will just pack up for the day. This is why a good hunter always takes two bows if they can."
  24. Revel4/3/24, 2:58 PM
Guy shrugged "I don't hunt professionaly, i just provide the things sometimes," he used his contraption again and un-strung the bow for the time being "There's the bows i have at the moment, they need finishing and sanding, and some leahter wrapping for the handle but it wouldn't take long to do" he said, letting her browse the different shapes and sizes while he turned his attention to his weird sideways bow on what seemed to be a sword hilt, sitting at another table with it and some tools, muttering to himself.
  25. robbedragon4/3/24, 3:02 PM
Pakhet looked over the bows and tested each one's draw strength without dry-firing them before setting them back down. She then turned her attention to the strange device he was working on. She looked it over and questioned, "How does this one function?" she questioned, looking it over.
  26. Revel4/3/24, 3:08 PM
Guy frowned before looking up "Im not sure yet... im trying to make it so you don't have to use two hands to fire it, just in case of wolves, you can have a sword and this, but .. i can't figure out how to make the string stay long enough to let it fly... or how to use just one hand to fire it... it needs some.... working out" he said to her before turning it over in his hands a few times, dropping it on the table before letting out a frustrated sigh "I don't think i'll work it out today"
  27. robbedragon4/3/24, 3:14 PM
Pakhet picked it up and looked at it. "You need something to hook the string on back here." she offered, pointing towards the back half of the device. "That would solve the problem with drawing the bow. How to release it from that hook after it is drawn, I do not know but, it will at least give you a direction. It has to hook though because a hunter may need to draw their bow for several minutes before releasing to line up the perfect shot and take down their prey. Anything less and it may release too soon missing the quarry or, worse, hitting the target in a bad spot. A real hunter only takes a shot if it's a guaranteed kill so the beast does not suffer from having to bleed out."
  28. Revel4/3/24, 3:17 PM
Guy looked at Pakhet like she was some sort of goddess "YOU'RE RIGHT!" he said, he'd been trying a straight stick but the string never stayed on. "Have you seen anything you like there?" he said, eyes now back on the sideways bow handle as he looked at it in a new light. "but how to move the string off the hook.... hmmmm" he muttered.
  29. robbedragon4/3/24, 3:24 PM
"Maybe if you found a way to make the hook come up and lock in place until you release it and then it falls away and releases the string?" Pakhet suggested. This was far beyond her knowledge of how to accomplish that very task but, maybe he could come up with something. "I'm sorry I cannot give you a better idea on how to do that but, seeing what you've done so far, I'm sure you could figure something out eventually."
  30. Revel4/3/24, 3:25 PM
"Hmm.. yes, i could try something though.... it's getting late" he eyed the darkening sky outside "If you wanted to stay, i can work on your bow if you see one you like, and get it prepared for the morning, i have a spare room over there" he said, "just... don't mind the mess? if it's in the way, move it"
  31. robbedragon4/3/24, 3:28 PM
"I appreciate the generous offer but..." Pakhet looked up at the roof and shuttered. "I much prefer to sleep under the stars." she informed him and then she picked up the bow that had the best draw weight. "I cannot be sure without actually firing it but, this one does seem to have the best feel so far."
  32. Revel4/3/24, 3:30 PM
Guy nodded "let me sand and wrap a handle for you, i have plenty of strings... somewhere..." he trailed off, sad she didn't wish to stay the night in his home but then not everyone liked being inside. "it'll be ready by the morning, and i'll string it tight with my ... bow stringer? i guess that's what i should call it" he said, the last half to himself more than to Pakhet
  33. robbedragon4/3/24, 3:32 PM
Pakhet couldn't help but giggle. "Thank you very much. Would you like some pelts or salted meats to trade for the bow?" she offered, taking off her pack to show what she had available.
  34. Revel4/3/24, 3:33 PM
Guy eyed what Pakhet offered, "Could i... have a little of both? I'll sort you some extra strings... arrows though .. i don't have many, im sorry" he gently patted one pretty black pelt with some darker black markings "This one is rare, you shouldn't trade this one for just any old bow"
  35. robbedragon4/3/24, 3:47 PM
Pakhet scoffed and shook her head. "Tell you what, you make that strange bow that seems to be a cross between a bow and a sword work and I'll trade this pelt for it." she offered.
  36. Revel4/3/24, 4:13 PM
Guy blinked "oh but.... i don't know when i will get it working, i need to figure some things out first... i'll get there eventually, thanks to your help though" he said, before getting up to turn some lamps on. "If you're camping out, there's an empty pen out back, had sheep in it once but i didn't really have much use for them" he said "I'll show you the traps in the morning, they're just... normal traps" (edited)
  37. robbedragon4/3/24, 4:16 PM
"I actually have a camp set up nearby." Pakhet assured him. "There's a group of deer nesting in the area and I wanted the ten point buck. Was about to take the shot when my bow broke." she explained. "I'll camp there and be back at sun-up." she assured him.
  38. Revel4/3/24, 4:18 PM
Guy didn't say anything, but he set the bow thing on the table and picked up the regular one Pakhet had picked out, getting out the sanding paper he made a start on smoothing it down. Come morning, he was awake and making tea, the finished bow, strung, oiled and looking the high quality weapon it was. A bunch of extra strings and a handful of arrows laid with it on a now empty table. He assumed the woman would let herself back in.
  39. robbedragon4/3/24, 4:22 PM
Pakhet camped out that night and returned the next morning as promised. "Guy? Are you decent?" she called in playfully as she entered the hut.
  40. Revel4/3/24, 4:23 PM
Guy laughed "No!" his tone was obviously joking, "Tea?" he said, offering her a cup, "I've got some bacon cooking too if you'd like some breakfast, i forgot to go collect eggs from the chickens though so if you want those, you'll have to get them yourself" he added as he walked over and sat on a comfortable looking chair.
  41. robbedragon4/3/24, 4:25 PM
"No thank you. Had some jerky before I left my camp." Pakhet assured him. "So, how's the bow?"
  42. Revel4/3/24, 4:55 PM
Guy was slightly put out... she didn't want to stay, not even in the relatively safe pen outside, no tea, no breakfast, it was almost as if she didnt trust him or something, but he didnt stay interally dejected for long. He excitedly picked up the bow and handed to to her, "its made of Hazel, i soaked the wood til it was flexible enough to shape, then held it bent with rope while it dried back out, then i carved it into its proper shape, thick enough to be strong, thin enough to be just flexible enough, though ive not tried it out, i figure you'll want to test it, the string is really good though" he gushed, twanging it a few times but not pulling it back. He'd leave the actual shooting to those better equipped, there was a reason he built the bow stringer after all.
  43. robbedragon4/3/24, 4:57 PM
Pakhet took the bow, gave the string a quick pluck and then looked it over. "I'll give it a shot...." she stated and grabbed up an arrow before heading out to shoot at a tree.
  44. April 7, 2024
  45. Revel4/7/24, 3:50 PM
Guy eyed Pakhet as she headed to a tree "WAIT, NOT THAT ONE" he yelled at her, rushing up behind her before reaching into the low branch and pulling down something fuzzy, he put it around his waist before backing up "ok safe now..." he said, before the fuzzy form around his waist, waved and made a noise that sounded like 'yoohoo' but it couldn't have... could it?...
  46. robbedragon4/7/24, 5:14 PM
Pakhet quirked an eyebrow at the strange creature. "What in Terithel is that thing?!" she demanded. It was an odd creature, quite funny looking but almost cute in a way and way different than anything she'd ever seen before.
  47. Revel4/7/24, 5:16 PM
"This is Belt" he said, as if that explained everything. "He was just getting his breakfast, hes not that fast"
  48. robbedragon4/7/24, 5:47 PM
"Belt?" Pakhet questioned. "Is that what the creature is or its name?"
  49. April 12, 2024
  50. Revel4/12/24, 4:18 PM
Guy shrugged "Both?" he said, "found the little guy after a storm once, never seen anything like him" he explained, waiting for Pakhet to start testing her new bow.
  51. robbedragon4/12/24, 5:06 PM
The wild woman gave a shrug and figured that was about as far as that conversation needed to go so she paced herself about 50 feet from the tree, knocked an arrow and squared herself with her left foot forward and her shoulders perpendicular to the tree. She took in a slow breath as she drew back the string, lined up her shot to a knot in the tree and focused in on beading the arrow with her hand. This all passed within seconds but, for a hunter, the second you pull back the bowstring, time stands still and she was making several calculations in her head. A moment later, he released her fingers and the arrow sailed forth towards her target. "That's incredible..." she breathed out, a smile etching her face. "That strange device of yours is able to apply the bow string faster than by hand which means you keep more of the wood's original tension and strength." she observed and, without waiting for a response, she moved over to look at how deeply the arrow sank into the knot. She tried to give it a slight tug but, it wouldn't pull free and she had to estimate it sank in at least an inch or two. "Guy, your device could revolutionize hunting!" she exclaimed. "Even amateurs who do not know how to aim for the heart can more readily ensure a kill shot with a much easier lung hit." she continued rambling. It was rare for Pakhet to speak this much about any topic but, if someone got her talking about hunting, she could talk for days and it would seem like she rarely took a breath.

Revel No worries, Rev. Take your time.

  54. Revel4/25/24, 6:39 AM
Guy watched carefully as Pahket drew the bow, he held in a breath, hoping the string wouldn't snap, it had done it before when he'd strung a bow too tight, that or the bow itself snapped. He let out a woosh of relief when the arrow flew true and embedded itself in the tree. "It needs a lot of tweaking, and i haven't figured out how to make it transportable, you saw how bulky it was, not really practical for a hunter to take with them, even if they left it at a campsite" he huffed. He frowned when she struggled to take the arrow out of the tree, a little too much power perhaps but sometimes the things you hunted had thicker skin, he agreed with it being more efficient to kill ... which disturbed him somewhat "I wouldn't trade any to ametuers" he said firmly. "Too much room for error, but i knew you were a expert hunter so i don't mind showing you" something itched at the back of his mind, he was all for making hunting safer and easier but in the wrong hands... He sighed.

  55. robbedragon4/25/24, 11:26 AM
"If you ever find a way to make it smaller, only give it to hunters with at least a year in the field." Pakhet offered. "Hunting is as much about patience and respect for nature as it is about the kill. Too many hunters with something like this could unsettle the ecosystem."
  56. [11:27 AM]

  57. Revel4/25/24, 11:29 AM
Guy nodded "Yeah i think maybe this one is one i won't further.. " he didn't say it but the potential for harm because of his invention was becoming apparent now he had someone actually test it properly, with skill and more knowledge on hunting than him. "I dunno...." he trailed off. feeling a bit akward
  58. [11:29 AM]

  59. robbedragon4/25/24, 11:49 AM
"Don't tell me you're planning to give up on this..." Pakhet said, slumping her arms. "Guy, that thing will help hunters, guards and soldiers. Is it dangerous if the wrong person uses it or someone uses it incorrectly, yes but, so is a spear or a bow but they are necessary tools to survive. Idiots will hurt themselves or other people no matter what you do but those people are far less common than you think." Pakhet wanted to see him follow-through on this to completion and the thought of someone giving up on anything always bothered her. "Besides, even if that re-stringer thing does improve the draw strength of the bow, it does nothing to help accuracy and actually makes the bow harder to pull the string back on. Children couldn't use it so no risk there and anyone who hasn't built up the upper body strength would struggle to keep it pulled back which means their arms will tire and they'll wobble. Only a professional would be able to use a bow made that way effectively."

Guy frowned, but he saw the sense in what Pakhet was saying. "I guess.... but maybe don't tell anyone right now please?" he said "Let me think about it, come visit again and trade again?" he hoped to abandon the project but at the same time he knew he would probably tinker with it anyway. It could be useful

"Just promise me you'll keep an open-mind about this and not write it off so easily." Pakhet urged. "I know there are risks but the rewards could far outweigh those."

  64. Revel4/30/24, 4:03 PM
Guy sighed "I'll think about it, that's all i can promise" He didn't like being reminded of the bad things the outcasts did, but he knew it wasn't just outcasts, the villagers could be pretty crappy at times too, but the murders, while they were long past, weighed on him, he hoped none of those involved were anyone he had traded with he preferred to stay neutral but hurting people... "Anyway ... i guess you'll probably want to be getting gone soon?" he said, both wanting his solitude again but liking the company too.

Pakhet looked at the bow and then back at Guy. "Yeah, I think I should head out. Might be able to get that nice buck now that I have a better bow." she offered. "I'm sure you'd love to get back to your tinkering." she added, awkwardly.
  67. Revel4/30/24, 4:08 PM
Guy offered a smile and a handshake "You're always welcome to come back ... maybe next time stay for something to eat"
  68. robbedragon4/30/24, 4:26 PM
"I just might take you up on that." Pakhet agreed and gave his hand a firm shake. "I'll definitely be back if my bow snaps again. They don't last long with me."

[PRP] Go make a friend, why? [Chaos & Siren]

  1. Chaos6/9/24, 7:56 AM
Having finished settling into a little wooden empty home near the edge of the village a new Alvia to HollowOak grabs up one of the small books placing it on the pouch on his belt. Dusting off his pants he realizes in the move he lost his writing tools. "Guess I need to go into the village to get more. Maybe I'll find the scholar guild and let them know I moved from FallingFeather's scholar guild." Grabbing his staff he headed out towards the village. (edited)

  2. Swamp Siren6/9/24, 10:46 AM
With a stretch Alder left had dressed and left from the home she shared with Raja. It was bright and warm and her lavender eyes had gotten used to the suns rays. "Better go check in the guild." she sighed to herself. "See if they have any tasks that need to be done.... Shulbari will probably have something planed...." With a flick of her tails he was off, weaving her way through the village.
  3. Chaos6/9/24, 11:06 AM
Head down in his notebook well somewhat in it, the alvia walked carefully along the well worn paths of HollowOak. Least it seems finding his way to the guild wouldn't be too hard. Walking along the path something caught his attention up ahead of him. '...Is ... That a ...Ooh I need to know.' His curious mind screamed at him to just rush up to this being, but his senses also warned him be cautious.
  4. Swamp Siren6/9/24, 11:13 AM
Pulling her loose white and gray hair back Alder hummed to herself as she walked. Carefully she braided it as she watched her step so not to bump into anyone.
  5. Chaos6/9/24, 11:27 AM
Taking a breath he quickened his pace as to catch up to where the being was. "... Uh hi miss. I'm hoping this doesn't come off as rude, but you have a tail... And I've never seen your kind before. Could I possibly ask you a few questions?" Stopping a moment he realized that could be very rude. "Uh if it isn't a problem with you, of course.." he adds quickly.
  6. Swamp Siren6/9/24, 11:31 AM
A little caught off guard Alder stopped, pull8ng her hands up towards her chest. "OH.. Um.... hello." She said in a melodic tone filled with an exotic accent. He was an Alvian she quickly noted, which seemed to confuse her more. She hadn't seen him before, so he had to be new, "Uh.... yes.... I have a tail because I'm a Dalvis...."
  7. Chaos6/9/24, 12:27 PM
Positioning his staff against his side he leaned against it very slightly. "A dalvis?" Scouring his memory he did recall seeing some information for the race but there wasn't a whole lot more than 'may be extinct?' He mused to himself. "Interesting, if it's not a bother to you once I get some more writing tools, would you mind if I collect some information from you? I don't have a book with a lot of info of your kind?" He rambled a bit but that was how he got when given a new subject to research, and since he didn't have any ruins or relic missions at the moment this was next to his interest.
  8. Swamp Siren6/9/24, 12:48 PM
Atleast he wasn't dismissive or hostile towards her. With a soft smile, "Uh, sure. I need to to stop by the hunters guild to atleast check in. I can meet you outside of there?"
  9. Chaos6/9/24, 12:59 PM
Smiling he nodded in reply to her. "Sure miss." With a very short bow he turned his attention back to the buildings and spotting the Scholar sign. A quick realization passed him when he went to take a step away from her. "Oh by the way, My name is Kolju." He smiled warmly.
  10. Swamp Siren6/9/24, 1:18 PM
Waving to him, "Nice to meet you Kolju. I'm Alder." With scurrying off she quickly made her way to the hunters guild. She explained there was a new person in town and that she was going to show him around. Shulbari wasn't there and for that she was greatful. He would probably terrify the poor Alvia. Out side she waited for him
  11. Chaos6/9/24, 1:49 PM
With a smile at learning her name Kolju reached the door to the guild hall. Stepping inside the scholar guild Kolju made his way to the guild master explained he was a transfer from FallingFeather's scholar guild, and at the moment needed a few writing tools if any could be spared. The master nodded with a smile, took down some notes and offered the new alvia the tools. Before Kolju left he pointed out the notice board to the man explaining if there was anything on there just to let him know, and the mission would be Kolju's. "Thanks." Kolju replies heading outside and scanning around for the dalvis, Alder.
  12. Swamp Siren6/9/24, 3:22 PM
With her hands folded behind her back Alder watched sparse clouds roll by. The only other time someone was that excited to meet her was Raja. And that was more for the fact she was in dire need of new clothes. This guy... he was interested in her for the fact she was.... different. There indeed wasn't much information about her people still recorded. Him not reacting in fear was pleasant.
  13. Chaos6/9/24, 5:48 PM
Finding Alder after a few minutes of looking for the hunter's guild. "Ah found you. I feared I might have got lost but it seems I didn't." Pulling his notebook from his pouch along with a writing tool. "Any place you feel comfortable to be asked questions?"
  14. Swamp Siren6/9/24, 7:26 PM
Motioning to him, "This way. We can go to the mess hall. We can sit and talk there." Turning she started to lead the way.
  15. Chaos6/9/24, 9:39 PM
Listening he nods. "Alright lead the way, miss Alder." For now he returned his stuff to the pouch and followed beside her. Making mental notes of everything nearby he was somewhat quiet on the wall.

As they walked Alder pointed out to different place that would be important and to different shops. "That shop has amazing product. That one is ran by a friend of mine. And that one we don't go to because the material seems.... off some how.... plus the dyes have been known leak out and stain skin...."
  18. Chaos6/10/24, 9:28 PM
Kolju listened and made a mental note of this information at least until he could get his notebook back out. "Alright. I'll keep that all in mind if I need to shop later."
  19. Swamp Siren6/10/24, 9:35 PM
"Don't worry. I'll gladly help you. " she assured him as she made it to the mess hall she opened the door and motioned for him to enter.

Heading to where food was sat she grabbed a kettle of hot water, "Care for any tea?"
  24. Chaos6/15/24, 2:26 PM
"A cup of tea actually sounds wonderful right now, thank you." Kolju replies picking a nearby table and setting out his notebook again. Opening to a new page he labeled it Alder, the Dalvis, and started filling out some information that he had been holding onto for now.
  25. June 16, 2024
  26. Swamp Siren6/16/24, 11:29 AM
Filling to stoneware mugs she brought them over then set them down. Sliding one mug over she took a seat. "So...." she said in her exotic accent, "What would you like to know. "
  27. Chaos6/16/24, 11:47 AM
Taking a small quick sip he thinks then says. "Well I know very little about Dalvis. I've read some small passages of them, but I don't believe them." His tone turning somber since the books all labeled the dalvis evil, but he didn't believe all were evil.
  28. Swamp Siren6/16/24, 12:07 PM
Placing her mug down she steeples her fingers, "That we are evil? Yes....." she heaved a sigh, "I have heard that too. But that doesn't match our history. We hold no ill will against any of the other races. Though we do see some as fools. ...... I have been met with a mix of apprehension and fear when I first came here..... but the people have begun to trust me."
  29. Chaos6/16/24, 1:01 PM
Taking a quick note of that Kolju gave a soft smile. "Sorry to hear that you had to experience that. I may not be the master on personal interactions, but that doesn't sound like the correct outcome." At hearing people have become more trusting he smiled. (edited)
  30. Swamp Siren6/16/24, 2:12 PM
"Some still give me dirty looks when they think I'm not looking. Mostly Alvia. But they are easy to avoid." Taking a sip of her drink she set the mug back down, "What else would you like to know?"
  31. Chaos6/16/24, 2:16 PM
"Your scales, are they more snake or lizard like? And do you shed them off in pieces?... Sorry if that's personal or going to far I'm just very interested in learning everything I can." Kolju offers his request carefully since it could be a sensitive topic if approached wrong with his wording.
  32. Swamp Siren6/16/24, 4:19 PM
Curling her tail up to be just above the edge of the table. Picking at one scale a single one came loose. Below it was the edge of a new one poking out from the others. Holding it up to him. "Neither actually. Snakes and lizards lose they scales in a sheet. I loose old scales one by one. Like hair."
  33. Chaos6/16/24, 4:25 PM
"Oooh!" Excitement clear in his tone he reached out for the scale to lightly touch it, if she would allow. It was so pretty even if it was an old scale as Alder called it. "How does it feel when you do that? Does it hurt?"
  34. Swamp Siren6/16/24, 4:57 PM
"I little pain if I pull them easily. " turning her hand she offered to drop it into his palm. "But if I let them come off naturally I don't feel anything. It's a constant state of liss and renewal. And my scales will show my over all health. If I am ill and fighting and infection, the new ones may be dull in color or not smoothly formed. "
  35. Chaos6/16/24, 5:13 PM
Opening his palm Kolju was smiling. When the scale touches his skin he looks it over and examines it meticulously as he listens closely to Alder's explanation.
  36. Swamp Siren6/16/24, 6:09 PM
She smiled at his aw in the small item in his hand. "Once my friend realized I drop them regularly he's wanting to try to use them for protective armor."
  37. Chaos6/16/24, 8:03 PM
Perking his head up from the scale Kolju thought that statement over. "That would be a very interesting and cleaver idea. I hope your friend can do it, I'd love to see the results." Setting the scale on the page in a certain spot he moved it then drew a smaller version and mimicked the details on the drawing. Thankfully this had been a blank notebook to start with, but slowly it was getting full of all his notes. "So you did say when you came here, you were met with uncertainty? Where are you from and how did you get here?"
  38. Swamp Siren6/16/24, 8:16 PM
Propping her cheek on her hand and taking a sip of her tea she smiled. Setting the mug down she noted hom drawing the scale, " You can keep that if you like. I have more than plenty. " she chuckled. As he spoke Alder nodded, and sat up straight again. "I come from a land that is south west from here. A town called StarGlow. Located in the Night jungle. The trees are so dense that not a bit of light reach the forest floor. The creatures there are so fearsome that we live in the canopy. ..... I...." she sighed, "To get here we must cross water..... that is at the bottom of a cliff...... I fell during a storm. Cold and exhausted I found my way here..... where I was promptly attacked."
  39. Chaos6/16/24, 8:49 PM
Kolju listened to her closely. Another landmass of mostly darkness seemed like a challenge waiting to be explored, and he kind of wanted to go, but for the time being he was content with ruins and relics between HollowOak and FallingFeather. Taking a drink of his tea he listened to her explain then almost dropped it. "Attacked?! Geez .. "
  40. Swamp Siren6/16/24, 9:09 PM
"Yes. The stories of my people being evil were wide spread here. The people here had gone though so many disasters. One after another. Or so I was told. One of the hunters..... was afraid I would be a threat to his people. " slightly fidgeting. "He.... tried to punch me..... and I defended myself. Ended up putting him on the ground." She chuckled to herself, "I was immediately welcomed in by Raja. He's a seamster. And now my best friend. Took some time of me proving I wasn't a threat.... and apologizing to the hunter........ I have made a place for myself...." tapping a finger on the table. "Though there was one exception. We had a tournament. A friendly competition. I made it to a third round.... my opponent beat me.... then, convinced I was a sea monster, tried to kill me......" (edited)
  41. Chaos6/16/24, 10:33 PM
Entranced by Alder's story of how she got to HollowOak Kolju listened, but he didn't write this down when she was done least not right away, but it was in his memory to add later. "I'm sorry that a friendly competition turned so violent... however I'm glad to hear you are having a better time." He smiled then continued. "I'm glad to have met you and learned so much about yourself and about your kind." He smiled finishing his tea. He closed his book and set it back in his bag for now. He figured he had enough information for now and didn't want to bother Alder too much with questions all day long, she probably had other things to get to. He was also trying to figure out how to ask something but wasn't sure since interactions like these weren't his strong suit. "Would you be ... Be willing to call me a friend?" (edited)
  42. Swamp Siren6/16/24, 10:55 PM
"I would like that." She offered him a soft smile. "The one that attacked me, Sarah Sharpe.... she had called me a sea beast before the tournament started. I had thought I had set her straight that I was not a monster and had done so much for the village. Seems I was wrong."
  43. Chaos6/16/24, 11:06 PM
"I don't see a monster, I see a nice friendly being who is understanding." Kolju was happy to make a friend here so fast, since normally he keeps to himself. Looking at the empty cup he picks it up debating whether to get more or not. (edited)

Pick8ng up her own mug she motioned for him to follow. "This is where you will get your meals. If you want any places to get to easily, this would be one to keep in mind."
  46. Chaos6/17/24, 6:01 PM
Following after Alder he nods. "Okay will definitely remember this. For now I'm not hungry and I think it's best I probably head out. I don't want to keep you all day. I do thank you for answering my questions."
  47. Swamp Siren6/17/24, 6:12 PM
Waving she smiled, "It was nice to meet you Kolju. I'm going out hunting and won't be back till much later."
  48. Chaos6/17/24, 6:16 PM
Kolju nodded and waved back as he headed towards the door. "Alright have a good hunt!"
  49. Swamp Siren6/17/24, 6:23 PM
Waving again she ducked out the door and headed back to the guild to gather her gear then head out. Shulbari was not going to live it down that she was late hunting.

[PRP] Wanted for Questioning [Chaos & Robbedragon]

Aristan AlmawtAPP6/16/24, 11:42 AM
Observing from a distance, a tall slender figure in a black robe and hood kept watch over the two newest members of the village as they seemed to be chatting. One of them had been a victim of a recent attack that required the observer to intervene and, due to reports from the attacker, she could be a possible threat or an innocent bystander caught in the grip of a crazed woman. It was his job to figure out which but questioning a threat rarely gave any results worth noting so it was best to question those who knew and this strange small Alvia might give him just what he needed to know. He waited until the two separated and then approached the one named Kolju. "You..." he stated, stepping into view with his scythe at his side and pointing at him. "Come with me...." he ordered.
  1. Chaos6/16/24, 1:26 PM
Raising his head up from his notes on the Dalvis race Kolju blinked slightly at what or who was speaking towards him. "Huh? What..." Unsure what to do since a part of him said run, another said follow and he would be fine. Instead he just stood there for a while unmoving.
  2. Aristan AlmawtAPP6/16/24, 3:44 PM
Slowly he pulled back his hood. "Stop trembling. I'm taking you in for questioning." he informed Kolju. "Follow me and do NOT run or I will put you in shackles." he warned.
  3. Chaos6/16/24, 4:21 PM
'... Questioning for what...Have I done something?' Kolju wondered as he swallowed his uncertainty. Watching the other remove his hood he stepped forwards without realizing it, that feeling from before telling him to follow. "Uhm I don't plan to run... But I'm a little bit confused." He stated trying to keep his tone calm.
  4. Aristan AlmawtAPP6/16/24, 5:18 PM
"You're not in trouble unless you feel guilty for something..." Aristan assured him as he turned and started walking towards the guard quarters.
  5. Chaos6/16/24, 5:21 PM
Keeping quiet for now he follows after the man. Making a mental map of their pathway, he would add it to his map once he got to set his notebook down to draw, for now his book went back into the pouch on his side.
  6. robbedragon6/16/24, 6:07 PM
Once they arrived, Aristan led him to a small room with a table and chair on either side. He pulled one chair out and motioned for Kolju to sit. "Let's start with something basic. What is your name?" he asked plainly.
  7. Chaos6/16/24, 8:05 PM
Looking around the room Kolju felt very trapped, but he kept his cool as best as he could possibly. Taking the seat he listened to the question, simple enough. "My name is Kolju." He replied.
  8. robbedragon6/16/24, 8:56 PM
"My name is Aristan. I serve as guard for HollowOak." he explained as way of introduction and took his seat across from Kolju. "The scaled woman you were speaking with. Are you aware that she was attacked recently during a fighting tournament?"
  9. Chaos6/16/24, 11:00 PM
"Your one terrifying looking guard." Kolju mused softly as he watched Aristan sit. "... I am, she told me about it, but I wasn't here so all I know is what I've been told." (edited)

  11. robbedragon6/17/24, 5:57 PM
"That's not exactly what I'm curious about..." Aristan informed him. "Having spent as long as you did questioning her, in your opinion, is she a threat to the village in any way?" he asked.
  12. Chaos6/17/24, 6:05 PM
Tilting his head Kolju shrugged and pulled out his notebook on Alder. "In my own experience of talking to her, no I don't think she is a danger to the village. She's misunderstood but from what I learned she is doing well here and making friends." He explained.
  13. robbedragon6/17/24, 6:12 PM
"The attacker, Sarah Sharpe, seems to believe Alder is a monster in disguise. That she will turn into a massive sea beast and destroy the entire village, killing everyone in the process. These tales seem fantastical and may just be the ravings of a mad-woman but, as a guard, it is my duty to keep an eye out for these 'sea beasts' she fears so much." Aristan explained. "That being said, you seem like a very observant sort and people seem to open up to you. How would you like to work for me?" he offered.
  14. Chaos6/17/24, 6:30 PM
Listening Kolju nodded slightly at the information that was explained to him about his new friend. Wait a minute... Was he just offered a new job? "Wait... Did you just offer for me to work for you?" He was a little bit confused by the sudden offer.
  15. robbedragon6/17/24, 6:51 PM
"I need someone to serve as an information gatherer for me." Aristan explained. "As you've probably realized, people don't exactly like talking to me and I prefer it that way. Intimidation is a powerful tool for keeping crime down but, it doesn't make it easy to gather information if everyone is either trying to run away or piss themselves screaming at my approach."
  16. Chaos6/17/24, 7:00 PM
The explanation made sense to him. "It sounds well enough like an easy task." Kolju mused to himself heavily thinking this offer over.
  17. robbedragon6/17/24, 8:50 PM
"I don't have any form of payment but, if you were to keep an eye and ear out as my informant, I can put in a good word with the village elder and your guild to help you get priority on whatever assignments you may wish. You are helping keep the village safe after all and should be rewarded." Aristan offered. "Sound like a fair trade?"
  18. Chaos6/17/24, 9:09 PM
That sounded good, but honestly as the only relic hunter right now he kind of already got whatever assignments for that and ruin delving he wanted to take on, so as tempting the offer it was kind of flat. "... No offense but I already get that and I don't care for money either, so pay isn't that important to me." Kolju mused resting his head on his hand thinking. "Is this an I want an answer right this second or do I get to think this offer over? Or at least think about what I might be interested in as a payment offer?"
  19. robbedragon6/17/24, 9:14 PM
Aristan wasn't used to people questioning him or revoking any offer he gave as the alternatives were usually unpleasant so this caught him by surprise. "Well, I don't know what else I could offer you as I don't know much about you..." he admitted. "Perhaps if we got to know each other better, I could figure out a suitable offer as payment for your information?" he suggested.
  20. Chaos6/17/24, 9:23 PM
"I don't have a problem with that idea. So sure." Kolju replied rather quickly. Getting to know the enforcer and adding him to his super small list of allies could be useful... Or at least might keep him out of trouble if something wanted to pick on him like they did at fallingfeather..
  21. robbedragon6/17/24, 9:26 PM
"Very well...." Aristan began with a groan. "Well, where are you from originally?" he questioned, approaching this the same cold and calculating way he interrogated criminals and their victims. He wasn't used to trying to get close to people, preferring to just get the facts about events instead of learning about their lives.
  22. Chaos6/17/24, 9:29 PM
"FallingFeather...Next question please.." Shifting his sitting position Kolju did not like to bring up his past. Green eyes cast down to the table trying to avoid the pain.
  23. robbedragon6/17/24, 9:36 PM
"Ahh... A touchy subject, I see." Aristan mused. "I believe the easiest way to do this is to trade off. It is now your turn to ask a question of me." he offered.
  24. Chaos6/17/24, 9:44 PM
"... " Blinking Kolju raised his head back up glancing towards the other. ... What to ask... ".. Um. " Social wasn't his strong suit unless it was like with Alder before, and the questions help him learn more about the world not just a person. Something also made him feel slightly uneasy around Aristan but it didn't feel bad. "Uh I guess where are you from originally?" If the other was from FallingFeather as well he didn't remember seeing him, but then again he avoided town due to 'events'
  25. robbedragon6/17/24, 9:47 PM
"I don't know..." Aristan admitted. "I woke up in a field one day. They said I looked half-starved and the only thing I had was my scythe. The farmer gave me food and brought me to the village. The elder saw potential in my imposing form and offered me room and board if I became a guard and executioner."
  26. Chaos6/17/24, 9:52 PM
Listening to the other Kolju blinked in shock. No clue where one comes from can't be an easy thing to grasp he thought to himself twitching his fingers against his leg trying to calm down his nerves. "Sorry to hear that.."
  27. robbedragon6/17/24, 9:54 PM
"It was a long time ago and I have accepted my new life." Aristan assured him. "My past could not have been so important if I can recall nothing about it." he said with a shrug. "Now, my turn. Why choose HollowOak?"
  28. Chaos6/17/24, 9:59 PM
Honestly that made sense Kolju figured with a light nod. At the new question he shrugged in response. "It was the only other place I knew that had a scholar guild. Plus I figured I'd be... I'm just here ok. Nothing else." A light fearful tone laced the edges of his words and Kolju was mentally scanning for a way out... If possible.
  29. robbedragon6/17/24, 10:01 PM
Kolju's action and dismissive nature was setting off alarm bells in Aristan's head. It was hard not to see criminals everywhere you look when that's all you know and the way this alvia was acting made Aristan know he was hiding something. "This doesn't work if you dodge every question..." he pointed out, his tone growing a little more stern.
  30. Chaos6/17/24, 10:08 PM
... The shift in tone caused Kolju to look back up. "Sorry... " He mused. Swallowing lightly the alvia whined softly before talking. "I came here to get away from those who were tormenting me... I came here in hopes to feel safe..."
  31. robbedragon6/17/24, 10:10 PM
Aristan smirked, "That's better." He shifted slightly and leaned forward, "Now, tell me what you want."
  32. Chaos6/17/24, 10:18 PM
... What I want? I just want to be safe... A tremble ran up Kolju's arm as he spoke. "... I just want to be safe... I guess. Just left alone with my books and not chain.ed.." Fear and anger rose in his words but he couldn't do anything but look down at his wrists. .. why.. am telling him this... He whimpers.
  33. robbedragon6/17/24, 10:20 PM
Aristan didn't recall rising from his chair or even moving around the table. It was as if his body was moving on its own as he pulled Kolju into his arms. "Nobody will harm you." he promised.
  34. Chaos6/17/24, 10:35 PM
... Stunned Kolju shivered lightly but he didn't fight against the other. Taking a shaking breath he swallowed. "... Wha... " Stopping he nods. "Thank... You." This had to have been the weirdest thing to happen but in Aristan's arms he did actually feel safe. "... Odd question.. can this be my payment for helping you?" He asked with a little bit of crack to his voice.
  35. robbedragon6/17/24, 10:42 PM
"Me protecting you?" Aristan questioned, a bit confused. "Ummm... That's technically already my job." he pointed out. (edited)
  36. Chaos6/17/24, 10:55 PM
"... Like I said odd question and it's not a big deal..." Sniffing slightly he shifts. ".. Can you let go of me? Honestly this is a little weird, and I kind of want to go home now..."
  37. robbedragon6/17/24, 10:56 PM
Aristan released him and pulled away. "Would you like me to escort you home?" he offered.
  38. Chaos6/17/24, 11:08 PM
... "Uh I can't stop you really but I do live all the way by the river.... Are you sure you want to walk that far?" Kolju states softly.
  39. June 18, 2024
  40. robbedragon6/18/24, 7:21 PM
"Then stay here tonight." Aristan offered. "There are plenty of bunks to sleep in or, I walk you home."
  41. Chaos6/18/24, 7:36 PM
Kolju shifted slightly. "... I guess I could though I didn't think I talked to Alder or you that long... Is it late already? Cause I'd rather do some shopping before sleep."
  42. robbedragon6/18/24, 7:38 PM
"You're strangely complicated...." Aristan muttered. "Go shop."
  43. Chaos6/18/24, 7:48 PM
"Sorry?" Kolju replied softly. He needed new things for his home since he didn't bother to bring much from the old one. "I mostly need a blanket for my bed, I didn't bring my old one..."
  44. robbedragon6/18/24, 7:49 PM
Aristan shook his head and left the room without a word.
  45. Chaos6/18/24, 8:21 PM
.... Getting to his feet Kolju felt terrible for some reason and quietly left the building. He made his way back towards the center of the village then headed to the little shops that had been pointed out to him before. Thankfully he managed to find what he wanted and traded an empty notebook for the item. Wrapping the blanket over his shoulders he made his way back to the main hall building.
  46. robbedragon6/18/24, 8:23 PM
Once he completes his task, Aristan went in search of Kolju again.
  47. Chaos6/18/24, 8:28 PM
Stepping inside he took a moment to try and remember the way back to where he had been questioned. However he did spot the enforcer first. "Hello again... "
  48. robbedragon6/18/24, 8:38 PM
Aristan picked Kolju up and tossed him over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
  49. Chaos6/18/24, 8:39 PM
.....! "Um what the ... Put me down!" Kolju growled low not thrilled to be picked up. (edited)
  50. robbedragon6/18/24, 9:11 PM
"Quiet." Aristan ordered as he kept walking towards the guard quarters.
  51. Chaos6/18/24, 9:16 PM
"....." Swallowing a low whimper lightly Kolju kept quiet and decided to just try and figure out what was going to happen.
  52. robbedragon6/18/24, 9:19 PM
Aristan carried him into the guard quarters and to a room which had a nice set up with a desk, a collection of books and shelves and a bed. He set Kolju down and pointed. "Will that make you happy?" he questioned.
  53. Chaos6/18/24, 9:31 PM
Once down the alvia looked at the space. For a split second he thought he was in his own little house. "Um... Yeah, uh did you find my house and mimic it? Cause this looks like my home... " He was nervous but it was a good nervous as he set the blanket on the bed and looked back to Aristan.
  54. robbedragon6/18/24, 10:09 PM
"I figured this would make you more comfortable." Aristan stated. "Otherwise, we will need to walk you home so I can ensure your safety."
  55. Chaos6/18/24, 10:23 PM
"Well it works. I feel a lot better here." Kolju smiled relaxing instantly.
  56. robbedragon6/18/24, 10:24 PM
"Well, then I'll leave you to get some rest...." Aristan said and started to turn and leave.
  57. Chaos6/18/24, 10:31 PM
... Kolju sat on the edge of the bed. On one hand he did want to keep the other here, but Aristan was a guard.... Who had a job to do. "... Thanks. Will you be back later?" ... He shifts to looking down at the floor.
  58. robbedragon6/18/24, 10:32 PM
"I have nowhere to be tonight." Aristan stated. "Just figured you would prefer some privacy where you can study and feel safe."
  59. Chaos6/18/24, 10:35 PM
"Privacy doesn't bother me. I just didn't like the questions... About my past." Kolju admits softly. "... What's your favorite thing to do when not doing something guard related?" (edited)
  60. robbedragon6/18/24, 10:46 PM
"Since it's just me, I'm guarding most of the time. The labor and hunter guilds give me a skeleton crew of volunteers." Aristan explained. "When I'm not doing that, I eat and sleep. I don't know enough about my past but, I do know I am not great with people."
  61. Chaos6/18/24, 10:58 PM
"Oh.. Didn't realize you were the only guard here." Kolju replies calmly. "Guess I'll tell you my past time. It's not just books, I like nature as well.."
  62. robbedragon6/18/24, 11:37 PM
"I haven't left the village since coming here and I know nothing about the world past the farm I woke up on." Aristan admitted. "I may like to see this nature eventually."
  63. Chaos6/18/24, 11:41 PM
Perking up Kolju fidgets slightly. " Maybe sometime we could... Go hiking?" Hopefully that sentence didn't get misinterpreted into something else...
  64. June 19, 2024
  65. robbedragon6/19/24, 11:52 AM
"Why do I get the feeling you'd rather not be alone?" Aristan questioned as he eyed Kolju.
  66. Chaos6/19/24, 12:21 PM
"Because you'd be right..." He whispered lowering his head against his chest. He was fine being alone, in his own place, but at the moment he didn't want to be alone. "... Can I come with you? I'll be quiet I promise. I'll just listen to whatever you're doing or stay out of the way."
  67. robbedragon6/19/24, 9:20 PM
Aristan shook his head and moved across the room. "Calm yourself, little fawn." he instructed.
  68. Chaos6/19/24, 9:25 PM
Huh? Tilting his head a little he looks up. "What did you say?" He thought he heard fawn, but that made no sense for anybody to call him something like that.
  69. robbedragon6/19/24, 9:55 PM
"You react to danger as if you're struggling to decide between running and sitting still. You're like a baby deer." Aristan explained.
  70. Chaos6/19/24, 9:57 PM
"Um." With a slight chuckle Kolju replies. "I was raised by a herd of deer ... " He admits softly tracing one of the swirls on his coat.
  71. robbedragon6/19/24, 10:00 PM
"That explains a lot..." Aristan admitted. He pushed Kolju back on the bed and smirked.
  72. Chaos6/19/24, 10:04 PM
Taken off guard Kolju went backwards. "Wha..." Shifting to try and get his arms under him to at least sit up slightly. "What was that for?"
  73. robbedragon6/19/24, 10:40 PM
"Seemed like something fun to do." Aristan stated with a shrug. "Either you have to learn to relax or you need to learn to fight and, I'm sorry to say but you don't seem like much of a fighter."
  74. Chaos6/19/24, 10:44 PM
"... But I am relaxed... Least I was." Getting back to sitting on the edge he made an annoyed grunt sound then tried to push the other away from the bed.
  75. robbedragon6/19/24, 11:09 PM
"You're adorable..." Aristan chuckled as the smaller male tried to push him unsuccessfully.
  76. June 20, 2024
  77. Chaos6/20/24, 8:12 AM
Kolju blinked in confusion. He had never been called adorable so he was unsure about it. "..How? Because of my efforts or... How I look?" He might have been smart with some things but others Kolju sadly had no clue about. (and for now a time skip)

Samir sighed looking down at his new friend. The dog randomly showed up one day, but he loved it anyway. He was currently taking the dog for a training walk, at least that was what he was hoping to accomplish. (edited)

  3. Chaos6/22/24, 9:50 PM
Samir was keeping a close eye on his surroundings and seeing someone coming into the path his dog was laying down, Samir whistled sharply and called for the hound. "Rahi! Come!" With a bark the dog got up and wandered over.

The sudden cry drew his attention and Mathias looked up. Oh there was someone else along this path. With a wave he started to wander over. "Hello!" He called
  5. Chaos6/22/24, 10:10 PM
At the friendly wave Samir gave a smile returning a wave of his own. "Hello." Rahi stood by his master's side tail wagging happily with a short bark of his own.

Approaching Mathias straightened his vest, "Good day. I don't think we've met." He offered his hand, "Mathias. Historian."
  7. Chaos6/22/24, 10:19 PM
Reaching out to the offered hand Samir shakes it. "Samir, just a villager for now. I haven't figured out what I'm good at yet." He replies with a light chuckle of nervousness.
  8. Swamp Siren6/22/24, 10:21 PM
"Oh that is exciting though.!" He beamed, "So many possibilities! Do you have any interests, if you don't mind me asking?"

Thinking about himself Samir shook his head. "Honestly I haven't given it much thought to what I like or any hobbies or interests, but I'm open to experiencing new things."

Listening to all the options the man nods softly. At who was with him he looked down to Rahi. "His name is Rahi, I'm working on training him a bit today." Rahi sniffed the hand offered out then licked it slightly before sitting down.

[PRP] A meeting of brilliant minds

robbedragon11/19/24, 1:51 PM
Atras entered the small little wooden building, pulled back her hood and removed the mask from her face. It was often hard to breathe in that contraption but, the girls were taught it was the only way to ensure their safety when dealing with contagions and, it became a sort of symbol of their sisterhood and dedication to the craft to only show their faces to each other. A sort of unspoken rule. She ran her fingers through her black hair and looked over the dusty hut in the pale moonlight. It was a small shack that lay abandoned in the woodlands almost exactly at the halfway point between FallingFeather and HollowOak and, for the last two years, it had served as their meeting place to discuss their discoveries. Atras' alabaster skin seemed especially pale in the light of the full moon and she did her best to hide the giddy excitement she felt to see her 'sisters' again. She had been moving between HollowOak and FallingFeather as a back-up aid to the guilds and to share knowledge between the villages but, she had an announcement she wished to make to the others; a bittersweet one but one she felt was her calling. (edited)

belloblossom Luna Feel free to hop in.

belloblossom11/19/24, 3:48 PM
Birdie, as she had been dubbed affectionately by the villagers of HollowOak, trekked through wilderness to the dusty shack that marked the meeting place with her sisters. Blood relation or not, they had enough history between them that they were kin. Only they knew her true name, but she had asked a year ago that they call her as her locals did. She knew they would not betray her secrets, but she did not want the risk of some nosy passerby overhearing and passing it through to the townsfolk she had worked so hard to gain the trust of. Her paranoia and fears stilled any time she wore the mask, the carefully sanitized uniform, but as she neared the hut that marked their meeting place, a familiar tremor shook her hands as she approached. Shoving away the impulse to cross her arms over her chest, she instead crossed the threshold and into the hut. One of two were there already and she smiled under her mask, but did not yet remove it. She could see the dust, the grime, the decay, in every part of the hut. She moved instead to a broom in the corner. “Put your mask back on, sister, while I rid this house of the dead skin that lays on its surfaces. It may well be our own, but who knows what creatures may have been here in our time apart.” She paused, broom in hand at the ready, before she crossed over to Atras and placed her free hand upon her sister’s shoulder. “It is so good to see you.” She amended. “I shall be happy to look you in the eyes, when the filth is cleared from this place.”

robbedragon11/20/24, 9:23 AM
Atras shook her head and chuckled. "A year later and your germ aversion only seems to be worsening..." she teased but made no effort to cover her face. "Birdie, I've been waiting for you for over an hour, I can assure you there are no stray diseases waiting to attack you in this hut. Please relax and let us enjoy each other's company before we must get to the serious business." she suggested, trying carefully to take the broom.
Luna11/20/24, 9:29 AM
Quoth had become known as somewhat of a mystery around FallingFeather as villagers there seemed to never get a glimps behind her mask. She simply became Quoth The Doctor, as she was always known to have some sort of quote or proverbial saying on hand to certain situations. Never had she given herself a name, at least not to the village. It was no different between her sisters, save for the fact that they knew her name, but she still had a saying for them when she entered the hut. Her mask had not yet been removed, but already her pale blue eyes sparkled. She chuckled at Birdie, still worried about gems. "A bad excuse is better than none."** she mused before remoing her mask, her own dark black hair seeming to fall about her face and shoulders like a waterfall. She brushed a few strands from her face before smiling at her kin. "Aahhh, a cat may look upon a king. How good it is to see you Atras. And Birdie...in time"**. robbedragon belloblossom

belloblossom11/28/24, 5:37 AM
Birdie sniffed, gripping the broom in her hands, before her attention turned at their other 'sisters' presence. She inclined her head to Quoth as the woman approached, and when she saw herself to be outnumbered, she surrendered the broom to Atras. "If I get sick for this, I'm calling on both of you to come care for me in HollowOak." She warned them both, but there was humor in her voice, as she at last removed her mask. Unlike Atras' long dark hair, Birdie's was near shaven bald. A thin layer of ginger fuzz was enough to protect her scalp and her blue eyes twinkled as she took in the sights of her kindred spirits. With a sigh of resigned relaxation, she thrust out both of her arms. "Let us go one step further, in our nakedness and embrace - it has been two long since I've seen you both in one place." She admitted. robbedragon Luna

robbedragon11/28/24, 9:59 AM
Atras could not help but let out a small chuckle as she hugged her sister. "You two certainly haven't weaned your flair for melodrama." she teased. "And yet it is I who called this meeting to lay the bad news before you both." Luna belloblossom (edited)
