The early spring sun shown brightly over the damp farmland, doing its best to warm the cool air. Spring was a time for new beginnings, which included Dash getting another chance to prove himself after his slip up last spring. When he saw the first challenger of the year approach, he jumped on his chance.

Of course, he wasn't about to let them know about his muck up. He sauntered out of farmhouse, head high, nose up, so as to look down on his competitor. He refused to be bested again, hare or not. From his perch on the sunporch, he called to the oddly coloured doe, "A challenge has been issued! If you can best me in three rounds of skill, then you will earn the title of Champion for yourself! First we shall test our speed! You see the big apple tree over there? Whichever of us is the first to reach it will be the victor!"

Dash made a show of leaping down from the sunporch instead of using the stairs like a normal rabbit. He lined up beside Peach Dip with a confidant smirk. Even on his worst days, he never lost a race.

@belloblossom Peach Dip's challenge has begun! You may respond to this challenge with art or writing. Each round's response must be 100 words or a drawing with colouring or shading and a basic background. With your response roll 1d20! You must submit all responses to the challenge before May 18!

Peach Dip had always valued physical prowess above other attributes. The burdens of recent motherhood had felt as though they'd weighed her down, but managing five little ones solo had been enough training in both physical skill and mental patience. The latter had been stretched especially.

If she could best motherhood, however, Dip was confident in the challenge she posed to whichever Champion came out to meet her in front of the Farmhouse. He was a brown hare - nothing quite like the pretty color she and her kits sported, but not all could be as lovely as she. The point of this challenge wasn't looks, at any rate, but as the buck noted: speed.

Her gaze drifted to the apple tree he'd pointed out and she nodded as he came up beside her. She inclined her head towards him, waiting for the signal to go. When it was given, she took off towards the tree, giving little heed to the hare she was challenging. @Absolutiones

Well... that didn't go quiet as planned.

As soon as he gave the command to go, Dash took off as fast as he could, intending to make quick work of this challenger if only for his own satisfaction. At some point, he'd been too narrowly focused on his own perceived victory to be for sure when, the challenging doe had passed him. It wasn't until he came skidding to a stop beside her that he realized what had happened. Either this lady was faster than he gave her credit for or he was having an off day. A really off day. Probably the later. No one was faster than him at his peak.

"Hmph. Looks like I went a bit too easy on you this round," Dash remarked, unwilling to suggest the challenger had more speed than him. "You'll still have to best me in one more round in order to become a champion! Next is the agility test! For this round we'll each make a jump at the tree and make a mark. Whichever of us can jump higher will be named the winner!"

@belloblossom The next round has begun! You may respond to this challenge with art or writing. Each round's response must be 100 word, or a drawing with colouring or shading and a basic background. With your response roll 1d20!

Before she knew it herself, Peach Dip had cleared the first challenge. Her opponent didn't take it well - didn't even admit to his defeat, but Dip wasn't going to aggravate her competition further. She merely inclined her head towards him when he mentioned going easy on him. The least competitive a rabbit felt, the better her odds of winning, or so she hoped. As he spoke of the next challenge, she nodded. If she could win this one, then she would be dubbed Champion. If not, there would be one more chance for her to win.

She stretched her legs out momentarily, before she eyed the tree that the Champion had indicated to. She glanced at him, waiting for him to spring out and following shortly thereafter. Would this be the challenge that sealed her fate?

Dash leaped up at the tree first, making a mark high up in the bark. Satisfied with his work, he sat back and watched the challenger take her turn. He wouldn't admit to it, but he was relieved to see her mark wasn't as high as his was.

"You did well, Challenger, but I claim victory this round! So for the final round we shall test our strength and endurance! We will collect fallen branches from the surrounding area. Whichever of us has the largest pile collected by sunhigh will be the victor!"

Peach Dip didn't let herself feel too bad about the loss. She may not have had the best leap, but she had bested the Champion in speed. Perhaps she would find victory in their third challenge.

She didn't let his words sink in much beyond hearing what task she was being asked to do. Strength and endurance - collecting as many fallen branches as she could in the surrounding area by sunhigh. Goodness, that would certainly be a workout, but Peach Dip was determined. She offered the Champion an answering nod of acknowledgement, waiting once more for him to begin, before she bounded away.

The branches were not in short supply, but some were bigger than the others. Would she get points docked off if she didn't drag the largest branches together? She shook her head - she was overanalyzing this too much. She moved towards the first branch she saw. She could do this. She had to believe she could do this.

Dash was so focused on his own pile that he failed to notice just how far behind he was. He took it easy because he was so certain the challenger wouldn't beat him. Boy was he shocked when sunhigh came.

He grit his teeth. His record wasn't looking good. Ford was gonna be mad at him for sure. "Well, Challenger, you did it." He breathed a defeated sigh. "Since you've bested in me in two of three rounds, you're officially a champion. As such, you're welcome into the farmhouse now."

Ford had watched the challenge from afar, as he always did. Especially Dash's challenges. The last challenge Dash had accepted Dash had lost, and caused the induction of a non-Hare into their ranks. At least this time the challenger was a Hare. That was the sole good news, as far as Ford was concerned. Once again, Dash had let them down. He spared a withering gaze for Him as he approached the challenger.

"Congratulations. You are now a champion, and will have all the things a champion ought to have. The spoils of victory, access to the farmhouse. All of that." Ford jerked his head. "I'll show you around." Ford didn't wait, he just hopped towards the farmhouse, up onto the sunporch and then inside.

He nodded to other champions who were resting. "Someone new. They beat Dash. Again." His voice was terse. He didn't stop in this main room. He headed further back into the house, to a light flooded room. The walls were covered with shelves with glistening metal things on them, and ribbons pinned on everywhere. "This is the Trophy Room. The most important place. This is where the accomplishments of the Champions are collected. It is your duty to defend it, and to add your own achievements."

You have received the spoils of victory! This rp may also be redeemed for a standard seasonal reward + a bonus.
