There had been a shift in her life recently. Streamheart wasn't sure what had caused it, but she could feel it. After the death of her mate Finchchirp, Streamheart was sure she'd never be able to escape the grief that clung to her like the morning fog but lately she found herself resuming her old ways - smiling more often than not, reaching out to support others, and doing everything she can to raise the morale of her clan. Was it due to her new found adorable siblings? Or the fact that Tigersun had promoted her, her of all cats, to deputy of MountainClan? With so much going on, she really wasn't sure what had shifted in her life or started the change but she was grateful for it.
Still, she missed her mate so much some days that the ache was nearly unbearable. Not only her mate, Streamheart missed many of the cats who hadn't survived the famine, drought, or eagle attacks and their deaths weighed heavily on her mind. Today was one of those days. So, Streamheart did what she always did when she was feeling down, she found a nice sunny rock in the mostly dried up riverbed and she rambled on about her problems and worries to her brother, Floodkit who had passed away long ago soon after he was born. A part of Streamheart knew it was silly to talk to her dead brother as if he was actually there with her but a bigger part had always believed that his spirit was there with her, always watching over their family. It was on days like today that she wished more than anything she could be a medicine cat and commune with the spirits of SunClan.
"I wish I could really see you, Floodkit, so I could tell you all about our siblings. Well, I guess you already know about them as Puddlekit has joined you. I know some say that Sunclan watches over us and if that's true you already know everything I say but... that's just not the same as telling you." The lilac grey stripped she-cat laid her head down on the warm sunny rock and sighed. "I wish you could have lived so we could really talk. I miss you little brother, especially on beautiful days like this."
Closing her eyes, it didn't take long for Streamheart to drift off, dreaming of warm sunshine.
