Fawndance loved Tigersun. She loved him so much, and she had been so happy that they were mates. After they'd been able to connect with one another, after five meetings... and more after that, as she only wished to continue their scheduled times together, eventually increasing it to twice a week and then thrice and then... Well, she sort of moved into his den with him after that. She loved that she was able to be the first one he saw when he woke up - and the first to wish him a good night when they lay down to sleep. She'd keep his nest warm when he was working late for the Clan and she was making sure that they ate together. They could keep each other healthy that way - she needed to be reassured that he wasn't skipping meals and he had learned by this point that if she didn't see prey go down his throat, she wasn't going to eat either. How the two cats seemed to mirror one another in stubbornness, initial nervous energy, and loyalty to the Clan and each other, was a sight to behold. She wondered how much amusement her Clanmates derived from seeing her relationship with Tigersun grow and change.
She'd finally felt settled within MountainClan. She was, indeed, a capable hunter and she was happy to provide for the many mouths of the Clan. Tigersun seemed to have no issue taking in strays - like he had with herself. Whether loner or kittypet, Tigersun's heart was open to those who had MountainClan's interests in mind. She was proud to call him her mate and to stand at his side. She would've been happy like that for many seasons, in fact, but... something had come up in the last moon. A change in her diet - she was hungry more often than usual. She could be a little moodier than was typical - and in fact, when she snapped at Tigersun that morning, she'd claimed it was because she was feeling sick and slunk off to the medicine cat den. When she came back, having had a very intimate discussion with Fernfire, she left the den feeling overwhelmed.
She couldn't tell Tigersun that very moment - not in the day, when Clan life was at its busiest and he would be needed by the others. She had passed him by to reassure him with a smile, brushing her fur against his and explaining that she could continue her hunting for the day, but that she might retire early that night... and that she had a matter of which she wished to discuss with him when he was available that evening to her.
Of course she hunted out her worries. Some catches were made, others were missed when her mind became cloudy with the thought of it all. Of not one, not two, but four! And it felt as though it was coming so soon after she and Tigersun had... Well, maybe that was just SunClan's way of saying such things were meant to happen. She'd stumbled upon a mouse nest and held five tails in her mouth. She placed two of them on the fresh kill pile and took the remaining three up to Tigersun's den. She didn't immediately see him inside, so she settled down in his nest - no, in their nest and lay the mice nearby.
How was the supposed to tell him? She sat up and began to groom her chest fur nervously. She had to look the best for this, that much was a certainty in her mind.
"At least now I can explain the extra appetite." She mewed and practiced to herself. "Don't worry Tigersun, I'm not eating more because I'm greedy, it's because I'm carrying your kits!" @Nym
