MountainClan made their homes in the high peaks of the northern mountains, building their nests in a gorge that once contained a powerful river.

The leader's den was high in the rock face, so that they may watch over their clan. They were also close to the Tall Stones, an outcrop of rock that jutted out of the wall of the ravine and the place where they would call the clan together for announcements and ceremonies. A few tail-lengths away from the leader's den lay the Cave of Visions, where leaders and medicine cats went to commune with SunClan.

Just below the Leader's Den lay the Nursery, well protected due to its distance from the ground. The floor in the cave is slanted making getting out quite difficult, thus keeping the curious kittens well contained. There are three small caves that separate off the main nursery room so that Queens may keep their privacy if desired.

In dusty caves carved into the stone by the long-since-gone river, the Warriors made their nests in these rocky dens. Warrior nests usually are made up of piles of dried grasses and are lined with feathers and fur from their kills.

The Medicine Cat den is near the bottom of the gorge so that the elder cats may reach it quickly and safely. It is a large cave that can hold up to six cats. The Medicine Cat and their apprentice would live down here, keeping stores of herbs in small nooks and crannies in the soft stone walls.

The Elders made their beds next door in a deep long cave in nests of the softest materials the apprentices can find. They usually sleep close together to keep warm.

Outside the camp, a sparse wood lines the gorge. Tall pines dot the rocky territory of the mountain cats. Places of interest are the Great Birch Tree, the owl tree, and the river bed.

Back when the river still flowed through MountainClan Territory, prey was bountiful. Small rodents were prevalent; chipmunks, voles, mice, and squirrels made up most of the clan's diet. On occasion cats would hunt small birds, such as thrush and nuthatches, or even the rare grouse. There were also small amphibians to chose from but most cats don't care for lizards and frogs.

With the river, most of the prey left the area. Cats may find the occasional mouse or squirrel but the only prey not overly affected by the lack of water were the birds.

Hunting in Old MountainClan territory is done by rolling 1d20. On a 20, the hunt is successful.
Having been so close to a thriving river, herbs grew quite well in the Old MountainClan Territory. Blackberries, Coltsfoot, and Sweet-sedge could be commonly found by the river. After the river died, it became nearly impossible to find herbs there.

Finding herbs in the Old MountainClan Territory is done by rolling 1d20. On a 20, one herb is successfully found.
Back before the river was stolen, the biggest threats the clan had to deal with were foxes, badgers, and hawks. Rarely black bears would wander down the mountain and cause trouble. The only good thing to have come from the drought is the lack of predators in the area.

If you would like the chance of danger in your roleplay, please add the [DANGER!] tag to the end of your title.

There is a 5% chance of a cat running into a predator in this area.
Roll 1d20, on a 1, danger is found and a staff member will roleplay the fight with you.
