Selenka was tuning her lyre having decided to sing a travel song for the day. The caravan leader had let her stay as she helped to sing and of course work. To that end she had become a member of the group over time. Today's travel had started off like any other. All that hard work to pack and set up and then off out of the blue headed toward the next town. Selenka was sitting in the back of a wagon with a window open for airflow watching the way they were leaving burning it into her memory.

As they traveled she started with a light hearted melody about a merry chase through the woods finding one's lover hiding there as a surprise. She could hear her son groan from the front of the wagon but her granddaughter was held rapt by the song. Laughing she glanced back again outside enjoying traveling with the group when she noticed something odd. shadows moving along the back path for but an instant then gone. Her eyes widened and she almost stopped her song. indeed the tone dropped without her meaning too. So she changed the song a bit where the rendezvous with a lover was caught by surprise by another and so the pair were to flee. it was a fitting change she thought while the rest of her mind started to panic. She hated to fight and was worried this might be robbers. She was a talker and show kitsu, not a fighter. She glanced back again and saw the shadows closer this time. They were indeed other kitsu she didn't know and they didn't look friendly.

The wagon's slowed to a crawl and a stop as did her song. A quick peek around from the front of the wagon showed strange kitsu behind to the sides and the front of the caravan. a number of guards for the caravan had moved to protect the wagons with young and elderly. The wagon Selenka was in was low priority as it had no valuables to speak but her family and a few things worth a paw full of silver. Wrapping her lyre in a ratty cloth she held it close along with a bag of food. It would seem they were going to be robbed. "Your things to run. If it slows you to much leave it. Life can't be replaced." She could hear her son wrapping up a number of things here and there. Her granddaughter Ledda was wrapping up food to flee with.

They left their wagon to take their places with the larger amount of the caravan group fro this hold up. Selenka noticed the robbers were already raiding the further wagons. She noticed their security was lax to her back left. She started straight ahead and was in a panic. Could she trust the robbers to stop with just their things. She looked at the group they were motley and seemed far to crazed to stop at objects. No she couldn't trust that kind of roused up mob forming. She felt her heart close in her chest. Her mind started to scream that they should flee. She could feel a pull in her mind. Flee, Run, behind us. It felt like a strange kind of pull in her mind. it became a chant over and over as the bandits moved through another wagon working closer to the gathered group. Flee, Run, behind us. She felt the pull again with her chant. She noticed an ear flick on a kitsu in front of her as they seemed to have a bug in their ear. That was strange. She risked a glance back and saw the lax security hole was going to close. Flee, Run, behind us. NOW! There was no doubt she felt a pull of magic this time and five ktisu around her jumped and as she did started to flee. They ran past the robbers as did the rest of group who started to flee when the five did. She rand blindly for this caravan was lost but as long as lives remained they could rebuild it. She tried to keep track of her children and grandchildren in the mayhem it was their safety she wanted to keep track of the most. After all they her precious family.

Brazen Rave cursed as he stumbled over a rock before righting himself and running from the bandits. He got separated from his mother and children. He was with another kitsu from the caravan who he knew was a good cook. The pair kept running until they were out of breath and exhausted. Brazen had grown up with this lot so he was familiar with the plan in times like these. scatter with what could be carried and then meet up at the next city. The group would be there for a period of three weeks before moving on but a message would be left for those who straggled behind at the local adventurers guild. So as long as they kept their wits about them they would all reconvene just fine. His mother was social and strong so she would be fine. Ledda could fly so that wasn't an issue. His other children were brave and clever so there was never a problem there. Out of all of them he had the more weighted items for his alchemical hobby so he was the slowest of the lot.

Panting he half collapsed in a heap. He was to tired to run further and night had fallen so it was likely they had out run the robbers. in the morning they would have to try and pick their way about to the next city. To his horror the cook grabbed him and tried to push him up. "Let me rest." The other shook their head and half headbutted Rave telling him he was an idiot and with his fur so bright moving at night was a better option while they had a a moon and star light night. Rave groaned and looked up. The other was right. There was the moon and stars bright enough to see and hatting every bit of it he knew the other was right. So he let himself get pulled up and the trek in the dark began. Light and low light travel are very different things. Sharp sticks found their way under the pair's fur. At one point Brazen rave slipped and a glass jar he was carrying all wrapped up shattered. They left it and moved on but knew one of them was cut in the dark from the smell and the dark that was left in the path behind them. They had to stop several times and at one point they had fallen asleep curled up under a tree.

Waking up with a shiver and ache Brazen Raven's fur was damp in the morning mist. Both he and the cook were a sigh and a half in the morning light. Twigs and scrapes all over the place and several deep gashes. traveling at night when he wasn't used to it was a bad idea last night but they certainly would have lost the robbers. He rolled over and groaned getting up. He unwrapped a few vials some had a few vials that while didn't heal did help prevent infection. "Hey." He tapped the other and they started to clean up. He helped to pull out twigs and wipe off what blood and gunk he could. Using some of the cloth from the wrapping he cleaned off more gunk and then looked over the vials. he wasn't all that sure about them but rinsed out the deeper gashes and used some cloth he had not covered with dirt and grime to help pack them a bit for the deeper ones and just cover the rest. He wasn't a cleric by any means but he hoped that this would help. The cook helped Brazen as well doing the same for him. Then bandaged up a bit sloppily the pair decided even as bright as their colors were that night travel was a bad idea and they headed out half tired and tails dragging toward their town destination to regroup with the others as soon as they could.

Having heard what was her grandmother's voice in her head Leda had taken off for the gap with no trouble. What could she say she was just lucky at times. She cleared the wagons faster then the others and had taken flight as soon as she could thinking she wasn't going to make herself a target. She then helped the others flee as they got further out whistling and helping keep the mass majority of the group together. She had lost sight of her father but had kept up with her grandmother. They all fled leaving their precious cargo behind but thankfully only a few separated from the group but no one seemed to be captured per say as the robbers were after their goods not their lives. They had been lucky after all a riled up group could have easily turned into a massacre rather then a robbery.

The group traveled much of the rest of the day until nightfall. Ledda decided she would help take the night watch for the group. She wasn't great in the dark but she looked a fair hair better then some of the others.

The groups was licking their wounds and taking stock of the items they had gotten past the bandits. small fires were lit and kits were being cared for while night covered the land. Ledda watched for any signs of bandits among the dancing shadows of the night. She caught herself zoning out gazing into the deepest parts of the shadows between the trees. Shaking her head she rubbed her eyes with her paws and tried to focus again. The shadows were mesmerizing how they played over the ground making even a small pebble look far more menacing. Even a gentle breeze hid things from view as they went from lighter to deeper and darker shadows.

She kept watching the shadows but then decided to start moving at the edge of the light herself while she was on patrol. Her fur color despite her wings and chest fluff being white was easily hidden and broken up by her hair. Due to this she had started to sneak about as much as she could for that night and the next few as she volunteered for late night watch as the group started to make their way to their next town and meet up point for any of the stragglers as her father and a few others were still missing. She had accidentally scared a few others on watch and was scolded for doing so. Still didn't they realize how many ways you could sneak into the camp with shadows in shallow ruts as well as low lying shrubs. Those shallow shadows covered her so well. The deep shadows of wood hid her so well. She had watched the shadows and then learned to try and move with them and she was learning she liked night watch better then day watch. In truth she couldn't see as well but for some reason she felt a better feeling around her in the dark when hiding even when her sight wasn't as good. She was learning to focus more on hearing and smell. Sure there were others better at moving in the dark but she was only just learning. Who knew what she could do with more practice. She wondered what kinds of shadows she could find in the town rather then forest and hills. Surely it would make hiding and practicing far different. Not only that but she had found darkness to be more relaxing to sit and watch in a form of mild meditation. how strange the things she learned she could do just from watching some shadows.
