The fire mage made his way to the plains getting a decent away from society, a place where he usually practiced his magic so he wouldn't hurt anyone with the results. His left eye was blinded due to one of these mishaps and he really did not want to drag anyone into his experimentation with magic.

Adeis had heard of mages creating balls of pure magic used for attacks. He decided it would be a good idea for him to learn this spell. He had no idea where to start with the spell, aside from attempting to create a ball of pure magical energy.

Sitting down on the soft grass of the plains he began to try to form a ball of energy in his paws. He was sucessful at first but when he tried to toss it to the distance the ball fizzled into nothingness.

Adeis tried once more to create this ball of magic, which he succeeded in doing so, but as soon as the fire mage lost his concentration on it, it disappeared. Leaving him looking quite silly with his paws forward and nothing in between them.

Again he focused, but his focus did not seem to be enough, as no matter how hard he tried to pull forth his magical powers into his paws nothing came out of it.

Giving a sigh the mage got up, wondering if sitting still and meditating like this wasn't working, well it wasn't working for him. Perhaps a bit of movement to help with the magical circulation in his body would help him create a ball, though while he was moving he couldn't focus the magic into a paw so this time he tried to focus it into one of his tails. But that didn't seem to work either.

It was frustrating. After all he had been able to create a magic ball on his first few tries, but after that it seemed helpless. He couldn't figure out how to recreate the the instance, let alone being able to throw it at something. There, he created something, it seemed unstable though and before he was able to try to 'throw' it once again the ball vanished on him. Unable to keep the form long enough.

With another successful creation of a magical orb under his belt the mage seemed to grow a little bit more confident with his abilities. With that came yet another ball which this time seemed stable enough for him to throw it. Which he tried to do so. He was able to successfully be able to throw the ball of pure magic and it hit the ground with a soft thud leaving an indent in the ground. He walked up to it and observed it closely inspecting the damage it did to the ground. It seemed effective enough.

It could indeed be something he could fight with, protect himself with if he came across some enemy. He was getting quite good with creating the balls of pure magic as he made his way through the plains in thought, throwing them though or hitting something specific with them was a challenge. It took most of his mental capacity just to keep the ball of magic there where he projected it.

Contemplating on it. He would continue to practice until he felt satisfied with the result of the spell. At least this time his magic didn't blow up in his face, which to him was progress. Maybe this was a lessen well learned, that trying to create his own spells was a dangerous task but learning something that was already created or learned by another was less dangerous.

As he walked with his thoughts he would create balls of magic and try different ways to throw them, each time inspecting the damage it did when he was successfully able to hit something with them. Each time he would evaluate it his next ball would have either more or less magical power imbued into it. as he experimented with it, trying to find the right balance to magic, power and concentration.
