(Learning Weak Magic Missile with his magically inclined advantage
Giving him some conditions 1 success means he's created a ball of magic, and 'throw' it, 2 successes his throw hit the target, 3-4 successes his aim is perfect.
getting 2 times where he got 3 or 4 successes will cause him to 'learn' the spell or 2 successes 5 times
using Mental Stat 8, 9, or 10 = success)

Ignis had made his way to the Forest of Shadows. Originally his task was to search for a place to base his operations, but here the trees grew to close together, and creating and organization here would probably attract to much attention which was not the ideal.

Instead the Nightmare decided that it would be best to try and focus his magic, as now he was fairly hidden and it was easier to navigate through these trees now that the blinding sun was not affecting him. The trunks of the trees would be perfect targets for practice, as he wanted to see if he could condense his magical ability into an attack.

Finding a secluded clearing in the wood the nightmare began to focus on the magic circulating in his body trying to find some way to pull it out and condense it.

Focusing he pulled at it trying to form it in his claw. Success! As he held the 'ball' of magic he tried to keep his focus on it while directing his senses towards a tree trunk. There! He chose his target and tried to send the ball of magic towards it, trying to hit the tree trunk in the dead center with the magic ball.

Smack! It had hit the tree trunk, but not in the dead center like he had hoped, as it had only grazed the bark. Focusing again he began to pull and form out his magic power in his claws, attempting once more at the task. Once again the nightmare was able to pull forth his magical powers into a pure ball of condensed Mana. Finding another tree this time one behind him he shot the ball of magical energy at it trying to hit it once more. Still focusing for the center of the tree.

Smack! Once again he had hit the tree but not in the center. A low growl of frustration escaped Ignis. Aiming these things were much harder then it sounded at first. But his determination wouldn't let him give up on the task he had put onto himself. The Nightmare was determined to master this magic.

Creating yet another ball of magic he chose his next target, he threw it, but this time it fizzled before hitting the intended tree.

Focusing once more Ignis drew forth his magic instead of focusing it on his claws he tried something new trying to pinpoint a spot to focus to. The experiment was a success, but once again when he threw it he missed the center of his target.

The drawing of magic into magical balls of condense mana was getting fairly easy for the Nightmare, just getting them to hit his intended target with out error was causing a bit of frustration on the fire mage's end. Maybe it was because he specialized in fire magic that getting this attack down pat was taking all this time.

Perhaps it was the idea of throwing the magic ball which was causing him to fail in all this time. Maybe he should try a different concept but what. All this time he was trying to draw magic into a ball while his mind was distracted else where. This time he completely failed at doing so, as his concentration seemed else where.

Ignis shook his head. He should focus on the task at hand until it became second nature to him. But if he were to use this in a battle he wouldn't be standing still as he was now. So he decided to start walking among the trees, leaving the semi splintered trees in the small clearing behind.

This time he started to focus on forming his magic as he walked keeping his concentration he managed to create one while on the move. Which was good, which means that moving while casting this spell would work well in the future.

Instead of trying to 'throw' the ball this time he tried sending the magic ball where he wanted it to go. Only to graze the bark of a nearby tree.

Making his way towards the edge of the forest he continued his practice of creating balls of mana as he walked. Each time he successfully created one he would attempt many ways to throw it, trying to find the perfect way to send it to his intended target. Some would just graze other would fizzle before hitting the tree, plant or other fauna in the forest as he walked. Still he had yet to hit the exact pin point of the location he was trying to hit with each ball of mana.

It indeed was frustrating, especially to the power hungry Nightmare. He couldn't seem weak if he couldn't hit exactly where he wanted to what was the point of learning this attack.

He needed to perfect it before he could use it in battle or to threaten another kitsu into submission. Even here when he was alone it was annoying to think that he of all kitsu couldn't hit where he wanted to with his magic. "Tch!" he clicked his tongue just as his most recent ball fizzled and died in the air above him.

Ignis' own thoughts were distracting him once again it seemed. The frustration with this was causing his anger to boil under the surface a bit. As the ball fizzled he nearly lashed his claw out at a nearby tree, but held back. Who knows what eyes could be watching and the Nightmare did want to hide his true temperament until the time was right.

"Calm" he told himself "Just focus on the task at hand." He was trying his best to quell the rising anger within. After it subsided to a decent level.

"Again" he spoke out loud to the empty air around him. The Fire mage tried again. This time he succeeded with perfect results. Pulling the magic into a ball seemed flawless and this time when he sent the mana ball at his target he hit it exactly where he wanted to.

Maybe for him a little anger was necessary to control where he wanted these balls of mana to go. It was his only explanation compared to the process he was attempting earlier, anger was the only difference.

Satisfied with his results he continued his exploration in his search for underlings and a hidden location hard for anyone but those who knew the whereabouts to find.
