What is pokémon fusion?
Pokémon fusion is a process where a pokémon can be born with the traits of two normally unrelated species; this has only been documented on Nauwill, thanks to strange minerals known as fusion crystals. Similar to an elemental stone in nature, these crystals have a mysterious power that combines features in new and exciting ways.
These crystals come in two varieties, and can only be rarely found in expeditions or won in events:
Fusion shards: Found rarely in expeditions and gained through events.
These little pieces of fusion crystals are the more common variant known to the residents of Nauwill, and the ones most likely to be actually held by one of them. When given to pokémon, they may sometimes be absorbed when that pokémon creates an egg, resulting in a lesser fusion.
Fusion crystals: Obtained rarely through events or formed from a hundred fusion shards.
A full fusion crystal is a coveted item, as they are exceptionally rare in the wild and typically only formed by gathering a huge mass of shards together in one place. When given to pokemon, they may sometimes be absorbed when that pokémon creates an egg, resulting in an entirely new species - a greater fusion.
