Thanks to our cunning ancestors, we were lucky enough to be able to sneak off with much of the humans technology and resources. And, of course, learn how to use it long before we made our great escape! With our tails as hands and magic to help, we've been able to create devices to communicate, cook, produce jewelry or clothing, and so much more! Some think our connection to nature and our magic has been muddied by this progress, but many more believe that this was the natural progression. Either way, no matter what you believe, life on this land has become much easier now that we can communicate better! Travel, though, I believe will always be something we leave to magic drawn carriages and the like. We don't exactly have the right appendages for what humans called cars, I think!

With technology, we've picked up human hobbies. We went from hunters and gatherers to writers, artists, singers! We've found ways to connect magic, nature, and our new passions. It's also nice to be able to keep pictures of our young for when they grow up! I'll be sure to keep a few of us together, young hatchling.​

Ah, yes, our magic! The very root of our escape, and the very being for why we were so eager to be free. You see, this universe is tied together and woven by many complex strings. Far too tangled for humanity to ever comprehend. Have you ever heard tales that the innocent human children or elderly could see beyond the veil, and touch the beyond? We were gifted the innocence and natural instincts of creatures, but the intelligence and comprehension of man. The ability to see through the strings and the intelligence to learn how to grasp them.

Many years ago, our ancestors perfected this magic, each born with their own connection to our world. Some could make illusions, others breath under water, pick things up without touching them, float through the air! Humanity made 'laws' of 'physics' and in trying to harness them, created beasts that learned how to break them. We were able to gain this power through meditation and sheer will power, so the stories say. Though now, our magic seems genetic, with each Tourac having its own magic affinity that passes down from parent to child.

While each Tourac is unique in their magic, each seems to contain it within the scale that rests atop their head like a crown. Those with broken scales have a tendency to lose at least some of their connection. It's unknown why this is, possibly something that our ancestors did? We may never know, but it is common knowledge that upon a Touracs passing, it is respectful to wear their head scale as a necklace of whom they chose to inherit it. It is rumored that some have gained the power of the deceased through this practice.​
