Welcome to the wonderful world of alchemy!

An exciting chance to mix maladies and melodies to change the world around you. Please remember to always have and adult if you are not one yourself with you when practicing the mixing arts. This book contains a starter set of alchemy potions that any beginner can start with and you’ll be an alchemical master in no time.

Things you will need to get started can be found in a number of areas please refer to your local markets and library to make sure that your supplies are correct and safe for use as use of nonstandard ingredients many alter and change the effect of desired potion and distributors of The Great Big Book of Potions: Basics are not libel for results obtained from improper use of ingredients that vary from intended use.

Remember to start safe: A safe ventilated space that is clean of debris is an important place to start as foreign materials may alter or damage your precious potions. A stable safe cutting space and starter lab kit may also be required. So remember to clean all surfaces and locations that may come into contact with your alchemy ingredients including where they are stored as well as cleaning any fireplace or other heat source which may contaminate the potion.

Gather or purchase your starter lab kit. (starter kits may not be all inclusive for some recipes please always check supplies before beginning a potion) Standard lab kits include. Small knife, honing stone, cutting board, mortar and pastel, small drying wrack with binding twine, shiftier, strainer, candles, varied bowel sizes, melting pot, mixing pot and clear holder vials as well as sealing wax.

Bandage in a Bottle
for small injuries

Ingredients

• 1 Medium Vial
• 5 Sap of Galean Leaves
• 1 Edrich Moss
• 1 Vial of Pure Water

Instructions
Heat ingredients in a container on a medium heat (do not let it boil if it does it will destroy the properties of the sap) mix slowly and thoroughly until the moss dissolves all the way. The mixture will turn a gentle blue green coloration. Cap quickly store out of direct sunlight.

Application
Apply directly to the effected area. Will help stop bleeding, ease pain, and help lessen scars from developing. This will sting worse then jumping into a nettle plant do not remove or the potion wont work. And remember not to laugh if putting on someone else. The pain is real.

Effect
Regain 1 health immediately. Its possible to regain one more health after rest and 250 words from the effected Kitsu.

Timbell Potion
for Curing Disease it won't cure everything but it does a decent job

Ingredients

• 8 Dimvic Vine
• 4 Vials of Purified Water
• 12 Galean Leaves Juice
• 3 Ralley Flower Needle Juice

Instructions
Dry and crush Dimvic vines and Ralley flower needles mix with Galean leaf juice and water.
Do not inhale powder as it will cause sneezing or half a day and leave you miserable.

Application
Apply to any open areas caused by disease as well as ingesting to help body. Time and rest as well as good nutrition/hydration are also required to help recover from disease.

Effect
No further effect outside of RP at this time.

Detox
for Neutralizing Poison

Ingredients

• 4 Albell Blossoms
• 8 Dimvic Leaves
• 1 Vial of Purified Water
• 1 Large Vial

Instructions
Dry and powered albell blossoms and dimvic leaves mix with purified water and the bring to a boil. Allow to cool before placing in vial.

Application
This Potion will induce a lot of vomiting and fever to help destroy poison in body. Be careful to keep fresh water and salted crackers around. The taste for real food won't exist for a while but the deep love of deep buckets will.

A Wife's Remedy
for Sobriety and marriage stability

Ingredients

• 13 Albell Blossoms
• 1 part Alcohol

Instructions
Dry and Powder the Albell Blossoms and mix into any alcohol.

Application
Drink a small cup for results. Have a bucket ready. (no really, as many buckets as there are drinks)

Effect
Dry and powered albell blossoms when mixed with any alcohol will cause violent vomiting. Unfortunately it happens shortly after the first long drag of the mixture so results may vary. If a kitsu is drunk already, there may be a large amount of vomiting compared to when added early. Loosing consciousness is not uncommon if a kitsu is very drunk.

Gala's Beauty
for a Shining Coat

Ingredients

• 1 Small Container
• 1 part Plant Oil
• 2 parts Milk Touch
• 1 part Sand

Instructions
Boil down plant oil and mix with fine sand. Add milk touch slowly to allow for better consistency folding mixture until one consistent color. Allow to cool and place in well sealed container.

Application
Oil will be very thick and easy to apply to fur allow to set for 10 minutes then wash off until sand can no longer be felt. Oils will absorb into the fur and sand grains will wash off with extra oil.

Effect
Gives an automatic success (+1) to social rolls for 24 hours.
To clarify, You still have to make the roll. This adds to your successes.

Eagle's eye
for Improved Sight

Ingredients

• 2 Pleth eyes
• 2 vials Purified Water
• 2 Edrich Moss bundles
• 1 tbs Bug Bear Honey Please buy from your local markets!

Instructions
Dry out Pleth eyes until able to crush and grind to powder. Mix with purified water and edrich moss. It is ill advised to drink in this state as it is very bitter and may induce vomiting. Add one portion bug bear honey to make palatable for drinking. Allow mixture to set for one week before use for best effect.

Application
Drink every 6 hours and no more than 4 servings a day.

Effect
Add one extra die to any perception or spot based checks for 6 hours.

Hunter's Friend
for small to medium prey

Ingredients

• 1 Medium Vial
• 2 Venom of Salith
• 2 Mel Plant Fresh Extract
• 1 Vial of Water

Instructions
Boil water and mix in distilled Mel plant (the longer the distillation the more powerful the overall potion would be) allow mixture to cool to room temperature add Salith Venom and stir until mixture congeals into a gelatinous mixture. Store in cool dark place as when exposed to sunlight the mixture will begin to run and lose potency.

Application
Many hunters place this potion on the tips of their arrows to help subdue their prey. Only a little is needed as if too much gets into the target it can taint the meat.

Effect
+1 success when calculating damage.

Silken Breath
for water breathing Mer kitsu to tolerate the harsh air

Ingredients

• 5 silken stream
• 2 cups of water with plankton
• 1 crab meat
• 2 shells

Instructions
Bring silken stream to an area exposed to air so they begin to excrete their thick mucus. Collect in a large bowel. Kill and strip the crab meat from the crab. Crush up to a fine pulp and set aside. Grind up shells to the finest powder you are able to and mix with the crab meat. Boil in a large pot just frothing and then remove from heat. A fair amount of oil will collect on the surface. Scoop and collect the oil. (the remnants of this potion at this point make a good fertilizer for the local coral beds) mix the oil with the cups of water and plankton and allow to sit for a night. Mix with the silken stream mucus the next day.


Application
Drink and apply mixture to gills. It should coat the throat and gills thoroughly. Thankfully it tastes like crab so it is not to bad as long as you enjoy crab.


Effect
Allows a water breathing kitsu to breath on land

Bubble Dome
This potion solidifies the bubble babble further to allow longer breathing under water.

Ingredients

• 1 bubble babble
• 6 kelp
• 3 coral
• Fresh water

Instructions
Grind coral and half the kelp to a fine paste (keep the other half of the kelp fresh). The mixture will harden quickly so make sure to continue to add small amounts of water. Drip mixture over other half of the kelp and layer over the bubble babble dome with spaces to allow the bubble babble to have contact with the water when it enters

Application
Appy to bubble babble as per instructions and apply bubble babble per normal slide in at head. The vision will be lessened slightly but the bubble babble will be more durable and able to be out of the water and maintain it’s shape for 3 hours out of water (apply moisture periodically to increase time to 6-19 hours) and be able to withstand even strong currents without risk of collapse.

Effect
Allows a kitsu to breath underwater and keep the bubble babble intact and usable for longer

Santa of Land exploration
Allows aquatic Mer to breath on land through gills

Ingredients

• 2 land song
• 8 fish scales
• 2 algae
• 1 sprinkle of sand

Instructions
Grind fish scales as fine as possible. Dry and grind Algae. Sprinkle over land song and then mix with a small sprinkle of sand to desired consistency.

Application
Apply to gills only. DO NOT INGEST. It will take far longer to scrub off later but it will last longer and not affect the efficiency of the land song

Effect
Allows a water breathing kitsu to breath on land

Fish Lung
Allow for getting air when underwater

Ingredients

• 6 Fish Bloom pods
• 3 ground shells
• 1 vial
• 2 parts fresh water

Instructions
Clearly this potion must be made on land or an air dome. Harvest and dry out fish bloom the air pocket pods specifically and then grind down to a fine dust. Carefully ground down shells to a fine powder. Mix with fresh water until shells are a soft soupy paste then add the fish bloom powder. This must sit in a vial for a week then may be transferred to any other kind of container such as water proof bladder.

Application
Have a kitstu take a mouthful of the resulting paste and hold in mouth for five minutes then kitsu may spit it out or swallow.

Effect
Allows a kitsu to breath underwater so long as they do not force or exhale quickly for 8 hours. If a kitsu tries to scream or force inhale or exhale quickly some water may bypass the effect of the potion causing coughing and thus more forces quick exhalations and more issues.
