Welcome once again to the shop time skip! Year 1, 2, & 3 of the shop are now finished! Now starts Year 4 of the shop and Year 3 of the time skip. Don't worry if you missed Year 1 or 2 of the event, you can still jump in at any point! Just remember to always start with the current year's starting prompt. How it works:
  • Reply to the starting prompt to begin the year for a character.
  • You may enter as many characters as you'd like.
  • After replying to starting prompt, roll 1d100 for a social check and 1d20 for a health check unless otherwise specified.
  • Depending on roll results, characters will receive various reaction prompts and may be asked to make more dice rolls.
  • Prompts will be given as players post, not at set times.
  • For each character response made the player gets their name added to the list.
  • Players must reply with at least one sentence to be counted as a character response.
  • At the end of the week a winner will be rolled from that week's list.
  • Make all rolls in this thread below your post.
Year 3 - Starting Prompt
After the mild winter, the villagers of HollowOak were feeling pretty good about the year to come. No one could have prepared for the earthquake that hit in the spring. Far to the north, mountains cracked and crumbled. The ground below the village trembled and though it didn’t break open, it caused many structures in the village to fall. The school house and the stalls at the trading market were completely destroyed and the livestock pens were a mess. Does your character:
  • Stand on the side of the worried, the frightened, and/or superstitious? This has to be a sign that magic shouldn’t be tampered with! Give a sentence or few to explain.
  • Stand on the side of the neutral, the unsure, and/or the skeptic? Disasters have been happening all over, it’s why everyone is in HollowOak and not the other Homia villages. It’s nothing new and it’ll pass. Give a sentence or few to explain.
  • Stand on the side of the hopeful, the excited, and/or optimistic? Maybe it will change the land for the better. The schoolhouse and market stalls needed to be refurbished anyway. Give a sentence or few to explain.
  • Other. Give a sentence or few to explain.
Luna01/23/2024 9:19 AM
Gwendolyn wasn't sure about this, much like the other residents were. And while she felt hopeful, she felt scared at the same time. Never the less, she also felt called to action. As a caretaker, she was busy tending to those who needed medical aid or simply being there for a crying child or confused elderly. She didn't have time to really sit down and think much for herself, at least not just yet. Many things had been ruined during the event, they were lucky that didn't seem to include many villagers, just property.
Swamp Siren01/23/2024 9:29 AM
Cole walked through the aftermath, checking what damage had been done. It could have been due to magic, or just a coincidence. Only time will tell.
Swamp Siren01/23/2024 9:31 AM
Anastasia was now in the mind set that change was going to be a good thing. Crops were improved with change. Maybe some changes to the school house and stalls were in order.
NatiStorm01/23/2024 1:58 PM
Peaceful times were great and all but there was nothing like hardship to inspire the muse. During the day, Amali helped the village by performing songs while everyone worked - to keep up moral, everyone worked better to music. At night she worked on her new song, using the devastation as inspiration.
Rainyaviel01/24/2024 6:48 PM
Quinn wasn't too concerned about the earthquake, however the destruction it left in its wake was a hassle to work through. The herbalist assisted where she could but with the village livestock running loose she found herself fleeing from an angry swine on more than one occasion. However, the pigs being loose did lead her to a revelation- they were quite good at hunting up some herbs she used frequently, maybe this would work in her favor... somehow.
Rainyaviel01/24/2024 6:57 PM
Nayzee took the earthquake in stride, as she did most things. Immediately volunteering to help out wherever she could with the repair efforts while still attending to her normal duties at the mess hall. Her assistance was mainly focused around the schoolhouse because if her younger siblings weren't in lessons they were likely running around the village wreaking havoc and she didn't have time for their shenanigans on top of everything else.
Rainyaviel01/24/2024 7:03 PM
Kimber had finally returned to the village in the middle of their mild winter. The past few years she had spent more time out researching the ruins of other villages than she had at home and it showed when she returned and found that quite a lot had changed in her absence. Just as she had started to settle into life within the village walls and find her place within the scholar's guild once again, her world was rocked, literally. Based on what she had discovered while researching she couldn't help but eye the Alvia with a bit more suspicion something bigger than anyone could imagine was at work. She was sure of it, even if she couldn't prove it yet.
robbedragon01/24/2024 9:09 PM
Shulbari wasn't happy to see the destruction wrought by the earthquake and he was one of the first to volunteer to help rebuild. As far as he knew, nobody had been injured but, the world shaking like this couldn't be a sign of good things to come. "Somehow this has to be those Alvia bastards...." he muttered, his suspicions of them renewed with this latest 'attack'.
robbedragon01/24/2024 9:12 PM
Cochran wasn't sure what to make of this earthquake. It wasn't a normal occurrence and now he'd probably get roped into helping rebuild which seemed like a terrible idea. He tended to avoid hammers and saws because he liked keeping all of his appendages attached and with his luck, he'd hit the wrong nail or create a stump he didn't need.
robbedragon01/24/2024 9:19 PM
Raja was always trying to look on the optimistic side. The schoolhouse and stalls had been drab places that looked like they were on their last legs anyways. This way they could be rebuilt, reinforced and get some much needed redecorating and, at the thought of getting to decorate something, Raja got excited. He rushed to his fabrics and immediately started planning upholstery and drapes.
DBPyrat01/25/2024 10:00 PM
This disaster is unfortunate but things like this happen and all people can do is rebuild or move on. So Gunnar starts to work on all the materials that would be needed to build a new school and market.
ᙏᙓᒪOᙏᗩᖇ 🐸01/27/2024 3:56 PM
Tatyana Ramazen is hopeful and excited! Fascinated by the subject of magic returning to the world, even if she knows little more than anyone else on the subject. It is dangerous to examine and explore the alter and the gates. But it is dangerous to explore the unknown in general. Yana is not afraid, merely cautious and ready to go, if she is needed!
Revel01/27/2024 4:44 PM
Osha was concerned, given the friction between the Alvia and the Homia, the earthquake was a bad sign. She worked hard on the rebuilding efforts though, pushing herself perhaps past the point she should have stopped, to prove that she, and the Alvia were still a great asset to the Village.
Revel01/27/2024 5:25 PM
Nari was scared Earthquakes weren't something to be casually ignored, sure no one was harmed in the village, at least not physically, the disaster, after the easy winter seemed too much like an Omen .... she began to feel like she was being looked at suspiciously too, given her ears had grown pointed, and her powers, after finding Osha, she wondered if it had maybe been a mistake.
Revel01/27/2024 5:27 PM
Elton didn't hear a thing, he wasn't quite deaf but he found it difficult to hear others, it was why he tended to busy himself in his jewellery making, but despite not hearing the earthquake, he definitely felt it. He didn't have much to do with the Alvia that had come and gone, well some had gone... he was rather introverted and kept to himself, They'd helped during the harvest and they hadn't really done anything bad, but he couldn't see why some were so eager about them either, he was skeptical of the water elamel Osha, but reserved judgement on anyone unless it was proved they'd done harm.
Luna01/28/2024 8:43 PM
Toby had been worried. One antural disaster was one thing but more? It had been hard enough on the crops...not to mention his livestock. He had lost a few goats and oher animals, but at least his precious Bella was still ok. Still, anything he could do to help out, he offered his services.

NatiStorm How that played out:
@Luna Many of the villagers appreciated Gwendolyn's help. Not taking time for herself took it's toll as Gwendolyn got so sick she couldn't leave the Care Ward for several days!
@Swamp Siren Most of the village felt Cole could have done more to help. Cole got a scratch from wondering around in the debris that got infected causing him to spend many days at the Care Ward.
@Swamp Siren Most of the village disagreed with Anastasia's outlook on the disaster. Anastasia suffered bad allergies during the spring.
@NatiStorm Most of the village felt Amali could have done more to help. Amali stayed in okay health throughout the spring.
@Rainyaviel Some of the villagers took note of how Quinn was helping and appreciated her effort. Quinn stayed in great health throughout the spring.
@Rainyaviel Few in the village recognized the help Nayzee was giving. Nayzee got a deep gash while trying to move some of the schoolhouse debris.
@Rainyaviel Most of the village was to distressed over the earthquake to even noticed Kimber's return. Kimber stayed in decent health throughout the spring.
@robbedragon Few in the village paid attention to Shulbari's suspicions but one or two agreed with him. Shulbari stayed in decent health throughout the spring.
@robbedragon There were some who thought Cochran could do more to help and judged him for it. Most of that judgement faded after Cochran broke his finger trying to hammer a nail. Maybe some people just shouldn't help...
@robbedragon Raja's passion for fashion and design was contagious and was starting to spread to others trying to help rebuild.
@DBPyrat Many in the village recognized the effort Gunnar was putting out to help and greatly appreciated him. Gunnar had a limp for a few days after the villager he was helping dropped a wooden beam on Gunnar's foot.
@Revel Some of the village recognized the help Osha was trying to do. Osha had bad allergies during the spring.
@Revel There were many in the village that shared Nari's feeling about the earthquake being a bad omen. Nari stayed in fantastic health during the spring.
@Revel Few in the village paid any attention to Elton and some thought he could do more to help. Elton might have helped repair the village if he hadn't caught pneumonia.
@ᙏᙓᒪOᙏᗩᖇ 🐸 The village recognized and appreciated the help that Tatyana was doing for the village. Tatyana stayed in great health during the spring.
@Luna Most of the village recognized the help Toby offered and greatly appreciated him. Toby twisted his ankle rounding up all the loose livestock and couldn't walk for a day or two.

Year 3 - Second Prompt
The Alvia and those with water magic had their work cut out for them come summer time. With very little spring rain and nearly no summer rain, most of the vegetation had started to wilt under the hot summer sun. Even with the water magic, the fields started to wither as the summer wore on. The stream that ran through the village turned to a trickle, the river looked more like a small creek, and the lake was the lowest anyone had ever seen. Water was becoming a precious commodity as everyone struggled to cool down. Does your character:
  • Stand on the side of the worried, the frightened, and/or superstitious? Definitely a bad omen. If the magic is so wonderful then why is the village suffering? Give a sentence or few to explain.
  • Stand on the side of the neutral, the unsure, and/or the skeptic? There’s bound to be a drought every now and then, this one just happens to come after an already hard spring. It’ll pass. Give a sentence or few to explain.
  • Stand on the side of the hopeful, the excited, and/or optimistic? Just imagine what it’d be like if there wasn’t water magic? The village would be burnt up by now! Everyone should be thankful and this just proves how much magic is needed. Give a sentence or few to explain.
  • Other. Give a sentence or few to explain.
Luna01/23/2024 3:10 PM
Gwen isn't so sure about this anymore and the growing devestation is weighing heavily on her. Also so was the flu she caught. Not up to snuff to even take care of herself, she sat on the side lines this time, helping to care for others onl where she could safely do so without passing infection.
Swamp Siren01/24/2024 7:52 AM
Earth quake and now a drought. Cole was certain this was a bad omen. Even those that wielded water couldn't help them. We're they being punished?
Swamp Siren01/24/2024 7:55 AM
Refusing to lose hope Anastasia was sure that if the Alvia and water magic barers hadn't been with them; things would be so much harder. They just had to hang in there and keep up hope. She definitely didn't want to admit she wasn't missing feeling depressed when it rained.
NatiStorm01/24/2024 10:59 PM
Amali was grateful to have the magic users around as it cut back the work the rest of them had to do. She could usually be found sitting under whatever shade she could find strumming her lute or playing her flute.
robbedragon01/25/2024 10:07 PM
First an earthquake and now a drought? Seemed awfully convenient that these calamities seemed to hit right after the majority of the Alvia left. Shulbari was starting to think the remaining Alvia were somehow behind this and that they were purposely holding back on helping after the town got complacent. "I can't prove it but I bet these bastards are hiding something. I don't believe in coincidences." he grumbled to anyone who would listen.
robbedragon01/25/2024 10:10 PM
Cochran was a tad curious why so much bad could happen in such a short amount of time. Maybe his bad luck was starting to rub off on the town. He contemplated packing up a rucksack with a few of his clothes and heading out into the woods to become a self-proclaimed outcast.
robbedragon01/25/2024 10:13 PM
The scorching sun and wilting plants had Raja worried but, he wasn't willing to let that get him down. He'd found the positives after the earthquake and he'd find positives with the drought. Maybe not as easily because it was hard to find a good side to famine...
DBPyrat01/27/2024 12:04 AM
Gunnar, being a pragmatist, saw this drought for what it was, another unfortunate natural occurrence. This is a hard world, not some utopia where nothing goes wrong. Do people think we live in some kind of fantasy land? We buckle down and weather this like all the other hardships we face.
Revel01/28/2024 7:24 AM
Osha grew more concerned the longer the weather was dry, she knew the village was struggling but even though she was made of water, there wasnt a lot she could do by herself, ahe pushed herself though, to try, she would do all she could, she wished she had more help,.... other water elamels would be a huge help, not that thr Alvia weren't already doing all they could too.
Revel01/28/2024 7:26 AM
Nari was worried, she could see that Osha and the Alvia were doing their best but it just didnt seem enough, if they couldnt harvest enough, their village was in dire straits once winter came, yes the magic users were helping, but what if they were the reason they were struggling.... nature had its balance.
Revel01/28/2024 7:29 AM
Elton spent much of that spring bedridden, struggling to breathe, let alone help with any rebuilding efforts, just as well he didnt hear the murmurs about him not helping enough. He worried about the drought but how could it be the fault of the newcomers, he could see how much most of them pushed themselves to help, how could they be bad? But the drought was worrying and, as soon as he was physically able, he helped as much as he could, no one wanted jewellery when they could end up starving.
ᙏᙓᒪOᙏᗩᖇ 🐸01/28/2024 11:46 AM
To say an optimistic person like Tatyana was not worried would be a disservice to her intelligence. She was very worried. She could not say that she believed in fate, but she did believe in potential and where there is water there is a way. She believed her people could come up with ways to help the water along. She tried to develop different innovations and helped with ones that others came up with. The river may have been the lowest yet, but there was water surrounding the island! Perhaps they could develop a desalination procedure. Just keep trying! To do otherwise would be to give up and to die. They couldn’t just die without a fight!
Rainyaviel01/28/2024 6:55 PM
Quinn was concerned at the lack of rain and excessive heat. The combination forced her to move many of her herbs inside and request the help from Alvia to keep them from withering. She couldn't decide how she felt about the assistance though, wasn't it a little odd that strange weather kept cropping up now that the magic had been awakened?
Rainyaviel01/28/2024 6:59 PM
Nayzee did her best to keep her spirits up as the village worked together to rebuild only to be hit by a drought. Luckily, she was one of those blessed with the water magic and therefore the was able to assist with the gardening. The longer she spent helping, the more she challenged herself to continue mastering her powers and she spent most waking moments work on the in one way or another.
Rainyaviel01/28/2024 7:02 PM
Kimber was not impressed with the drought that hit and she delved into the records to see what she could find about past instances of multiple odd natural phenomena occurring so close together. She wasn't much use out in the fields anyway so it only made sense for her to stay out of the way and try to find some information that might be helpful to the rest of HollowOak.
Luna01/28/2024 10:11 PM
Toby was still worried, and the loss the farm was taking kept getting worse. Even with the alvia's help, there wasn't water to help keep up livestock and they had to cull numbers for food as the crops also failed. Digging into personal stock, Toby began to give away any stored up meants, cheeses and milks he could spare for those less ffortunate, but the worry was still clear in his eyes.

NatiStorm How that played out:
@Luna The village took note of Gwendolyn's willingness to help and many respected her for it. Gwendolyn had mild allergies during the summer.
@Swamp Siren The village elders agreed with Cole's feelings of a bad omen and were eager to discuss their opinions with him. Cole had a bit of a limp for a few days after spraining his ankle.
@Swamp Siren Most of the village was to distressed by the recent destruction to share in Anastasia's optimism. Anastasia worked herself to hard and ended up with heat stroke from being out in the middle of the day.
@NatiStorm Most of the village thought Amali could do more to help and judged her harshly for it. Amali had to lay of playing her instruments after spraining her wrist.
@robbedragon Some of the villagers were starting to pay attention to Shulbari's accusations and starting to agree with him. Shulbari got heat stroke after working to hard out in the hot summer sun.
@robbedragon Very few villagers paid attention to Cochran's superstition of his luck rubbing off on the village. Cochran stayed in fantastic health during the summer.
@robbedragon Most of the village recognized the effort Raja was putting out to keep up moral and greatly appreciated him. Raja got a terrible sunburn that hurt for several days before it started peeling.
@DBPyrat Most of the village recognized Gunnar's attempts to help and mediate and appreciated him. Gunnar stayed in great health during the summer.
@Revel Most of the village recognized the effort Osha was putting in to aiding the village and greatly appreciated her. Osha stayed in decent health during the summer.
@Revel Some of the villagers shared Nari's worries and concerns. Didn't that weird dream a few years ago mention restoring balance? Nari got a bad sunburn during the summer that was painful for many days before it started peeling.
@Revel Few in the village recognized Eltons efforts to help but those that did appreciated it. Elton got a bad sunburn during the summer that was painful for many days before it started peeling.
@ᙏᙓᒪOᙏᗩᖇ 🐸 Most of the village recognized the effort Tatyana was putting out to keep up moral and appreciated the help. Tatyana stayed in decent health during the summer.
@Rainyaviel Nearly all of the villagers appreciated Quinns forethought to save the medicinal herbs and every Alvia was more than willing to help. Quinn stayed in fantastic health during the summer.
@Rainyaviel Most of the village was to busy worrying over the withering plants to notice the help Nayzee was putting forth. Nayzee stayed in good health during the summer.
@Rainyaviel Kimber's studies revealed that in the past 50 years natural disasters have been slowly becoming more frequent and closer together. Kimber stayed in good health during the summer.
@Luna Most of the village was too busy worrying over the drought to recognize the effort Toby was putting towards helping. Toby got heat stroke from working so hard under the hot summer sun.

Year 3 - Third Prompt
The leaves had just started to fall when hurricane rolled in. Rain fell down in stringing painful sheets but the wind was the real terror as it uprooted almost every tree that hadn’t already withered and lost it’s leaves. It took three days for the storm to pass over HollowOak and in those few days the lake filled and overflowed. The river and stream rose until the water flooded the lower parts of the village. Many villagers took refuge in the Dorm, the Labor Guilds living quarters and tallest building in the village. Does your character:
  • Stand on the side of the worried, the frightened, and/or superstitious? Earthquake, drought, and now a hurricane?! The village has been cursed! It’s all because of that darn magic! Give a sentence or few to explain.
  • Stand on the side of the neutral, the unsure, and/or the skeptic? Strange weather, but things like this happen. It’ll pass. Give a sentence or few to explain.
  • Stand on the side of the hopeful, the excited, and/or optimistic? Another chance for the magic users to shine and show off how useful magic can be! Give a sentence or few to explain.
  • Other. Give a sentence or few to explain.
Luna01/25/2024 9:55 AM
All of this seemed like either too much or too ironic. Severe drouts, now hurricane? While on one hand they at least had water, Gwen feared what would happen next. Natural disasters like this could take lives and that's the last thing HollowOak needed right now. Even with allery sniffles, Gwen donned a mask and helped out where she could, as her line of work never ended, especially in times like these. It wasn't just physical wounds, it was mental now too. She focused on the elderly and the children mostly, but didn't turn away anyone else in between either.
Swamp Siren01/26/2024 1:58 PM
No doubt about it. Cole KNEW they were being punished, or cursed, or..... or..... something!
Swamp Siren01/26/2024 2:01 PM
All this rain had Anastasia gloomy. She absolutely hated it. The weather seemed to be having major mood swings. Right now she just wanted it all to pass. They will get through this. Might be tough though.
NatiStorm01/26/2024 10:36 PM
Amali enjoyed the rain as it gave her more time to sit and write new songs. Tensions were starting to rise in the village with made for good song material.
robbedragon01/26/2024 11:06 PM
Shulbari had enough. He wasn't about to let one more calamity befall his village. He started gathering up supporters and turning people against the Alvia and all the magic users. He was going to get rid of them once and for all.
robbedragon01/26/2024 11:12 PM
"First a drought and now flooding and winds?!" Cochran complained over the loud roar. On one hand, Shulbari seemed to be building an army to go to war against magic while Raja seemed to be preaching peace and, if these storms didn't pass soon, he felt like the dorms were going to become a bloodbath. He tried to mediate but, he wasn't sure if he was getting through to anyone.
robbedragon01/26/2024 11:14 PM
Raja had always looked up to Shulbari and his 'heroic' nature but, he was being far more stubborn and paranoid than normal. He had stepped in to stop Shulbari on more than one occassion from harming the Alvia or any of the magic users. "Shulbari, please calm down!" he urged. "They haven't done anything to harm us. They helped us. This isn't their fault!"
DBPyrat01/28/2024 12:51 AM
Some years are good, some years are bad. This year just so happened to be worse. Nothing mysterious, nothing magical, just pure bad luck. Gunnar shelters with the others then squares his shoulders and sets out to aid in the repairs. Again.
Revel01/28/2024 10:17 AM
Osha was more worried about the hurricane, than she had been about the dought ... the lack of water could hardly be blamed on those GIVING water to the land.... but the storm and the wind was something else. She was lost as for what to do, she had no memories of any experience like this, Still, she worked to try and protect those that needed protecting, she even attempted to avert floodwaters as best she could.
Revel01/28/2024 10:22 AM
Nari was concerned with the drought drying up the plants and the ground, with a storm like they had, something was very out of whack... was there air elementals? like Osha was water? were they to blame for the storm? Then there was the flooding, surely with this many people controlling water, they could have prevented the flooding.. or at least diverted it? She'd tried but she was just one person with small powers. At the very least she had ventured into the lower parts of the village, retreiving belongings, helping people, she could at least use her powers to draw the water out of precious items villagers may have had to leave behind.
Revel01/28/2024 10:27 AM
Elton was still unsure, he was sure the Alvia nor Osha were to blame but SOMETHING was wrong... he just didn't know what, the sunburn had been awful but it was nothing compared to the storm and the flooding, The storm was the worst, it even hurt HIS ears and he was very hard of hearing. Still he worked to help others, sure he stayed out of the politics side, but it was still his village, he did notice the looks people were giving the Alvia, and the elemental Osha though, seemingly with more suspicion and while he didn't think it was fair, he couldn't help wonder if freeing Osha had caused all of this, he also wondered if the village that the Alvia had come from, had also experienced hardship, perhaps someone should go and ask them for help.
Rainyaviel01/28/2024 9:12 PM
The natural disasters were taking their toll on the village and that added to Quinn's own stress and anxiety. The woman did her best to help out where she could during the hurricane despite having to relocate her belongings to higher ground. Quinn wasn't sure that the magic returning was behind all of the bad luck they were having but she had to agree with the other villagers that mentioned it felt like a curse had been placed on them.
Rainyaviel01/28/2024 9:24 PM
Nayzee did her best to help divert sheets of rain that poured down and even tried to manipulate the water that began to flood their homes. Unfortunately, despite her magic she struggled.
ᙏᙓᒪOᙏᗩᖇ 🐸01/29/2024 4:09 AM
There wasn’t much to be done during the windiest part of the hurricane. Yana hunkered down with the rest of the village and tried to keep the horses in the safety of the barn. The wind was terrifying but the water had finally come. It was time to use the water magic to redirect the water, if possible! There was so much of it now, surely there were some way to store it! Nature sure is strong and terrifying! And afterward there was quite a mess to clean up, homes to rebuild. Trees to plant, where seedlings could be found. Yana saw no choice but to keep her head up, keep pressing forward, and to do what she could to help. To give up is to die!
Rainyaviel01/29/2024 8:59 AM
Kimber's research answered some questions while sparking a bunch more and she shared her findings with other scholars and any who cared to ask. When the hurricane hit she was reminded once again why she was better suited to her indoor duties. Her trouble hearing made it difficult for her to tell when something dangerous might be nearby and she narrowly avoided being struck by flying debris when she ventured out to the mess hall.

How that played out:
@Luna Some of the village recognized the effort Gwendolyn was putting in to help out and appreciated her. Gwendolyn stayed in good health throughout the fall.
@Swamp Siren Very few in the village listened to Cole's superstitions about being cursed. Cole stayed in decent health during the fall.
@Swamp Siren Few in the village recognized Anastasia's help to keep moral up but those that did appreciated her. Anastasia came down with a cold after the rain stopped.
@NatiStorm Few in the village recognized Amali's efforts to keep moral up. Amali stayed in decent health during the fall.
@robbedragon Few in the village started to follow Shulbari and fewer stayed loyal to his cause after Raja's declaration. Shulbari caught pneumonia all that rain.
@robbedragon Few in the village recognized Cochran's effort to mediate and appreciated his attempts. Cochran caught a bad cold after the hurricane.
@robbedragon Nearly everyone in the village was starting to agree with Raja. Much of the discourse between magic users and non magic users was defused by Raja's arguments. Raja stayed in decent health during the fall.
@DBPyrat Some in the village recognized and appreciated the work Gunnar was putting into repairing the village. Gunnar over worked himself and ended up throwing out his back.
@Revel Most of the villagers recognized the effort Osha was putting into protecting the village from the floodwaters and greatly appreciated and respected her for it. Osha stayed in good health during the fall.
@Revel Nearly all of the village was too busy worrying about the damage from the storm to notice Nari's helping efforts. Nari stayed in good health during the fall.
@Revel Some of the villagers agreed with Elton that the Alvia village of FallingFeather should be asked to help after such a disaster. Elton stayed in good health during the fall.
@Rainyaviel Many in the village recognized Quinn for the help she was doing and often discussed theories of how the village was cursed with her. Quinn allergies during the fall but they weren't to bad.
@Rainyaviel Many in the village were to busy arguing about the disasters to notice the effort Nayzee was putting forth. Nayzee stayed in decent health during the fall.
@ᙏᙓᒪOᙏᗩᖇ 🐸 Nearly all of the village agreed with Tatyana's point of view and greatly appreciated the effort Yana was putting forth to help the village. Tatyana came down with pneumonia after the storm.
@Rainyaviel Most of the village was to concerned with the floodwaters to listen to Kimber talk about her research findings. Kimber caught a bad cold during the storm.

Year 3 - Final Prompt
Not long after the flood waters receded, the coldest winter in recent memory settled in. It only snowed once but the light snow refused to melt as the temperature kept dropping. With the drought and the hurricane, the harvest had been pretty pitiful this year and there was rumor there wouldn’t be enough food or firewood to last till spring. Does your character:
  • Stand on the side of the worried, the frightened, and/or superstitious? This is all the Alvia’s fault. Everything was fine until they showed up last year! Give a sentence or few to explain.
  • Stand on the side of the neutral, the unsure, and/or the skeptic? After last years mild winter, we’re due for a rough one, that’s just how things work. Give a sentence or few to explain.

Gwen honestly wasn;t sure about this. But she did believe sometimes the power of the mind helped to over come things. She began to try and think positive, that perhaps after all this was said and done, maybe the chaos would subside and the lands would go back to normal. Being in good health finally meant she could also help out the vilalge more and she started lending her aid wherever they'd take it, evne going so far as to make dialy visits to the elderly and chilren, doing her best to promote positivity in them as well as her self.

Gunnar has heard the rumblings about blaming the newcomers or the magic for this year's events and has no patience for it. His earliest memories were fleeing from his home in IceMist village after it was destroyed, and he is quick to point out HollowOak still standing and it's residents still live. It's bad year, nothing more. All the spite and vitriol does nothing but make an already difficult situation worse.
robbedragon01/28/2024 10:53 AM
Shulbari's coup was shut down by Raja and most of his support either went into hiding or switched over to the Alvia supporters but he wasn't letting this slide. Once calamity in a year would be one thing but having an earthquake, drought, hurricane and harsh winter back to back was unnatural and he wasn't going to stand for it. He went to the elders and demanded they kick the Alvia and magic using freaks out before any more destruction was wrought onto the village.
robbedragon01/28/2024 10:56 AM
This was the final straw for Cochran. He'd resolved to wait out the snow but, first thing come spring, he was packing his things and leaving the village for good. Luckily, everyone was too busy blaming the Alvia and the magic users to turn their attention on him but, deep down, he felt sure it was he who was to blame. Bad things followed him everywhere and the village was better off without him. He'd try to survive as long as he could in the wilds so he couldn't cause disasters to anyone else.
robbedragon01/28/2024 10:59 AM
The snow was bad and the cold temps made it nearly impossible to find any warmth but, Raja had found his voice and he was using it to cheer people up as best as he could. "People, I know it's cold and I know we're running low on food and wood but, this is not a blizzard, we can still go out and hunt and gather wood. We can cuddle tight for warmth. We will survive this if we hold on to hope and compassion. This I can promise you." he preached to those who would listen.

Cole wish he could prove it. Make other people see. Things had never er been this bad till the Alvia came
Swamp Siren01/28/2024 11:21 PM
Anastasia didn't want to lose hope. There was bound to be bad weather. And they had gone through hard times. They would j7st have to make do and hold on
Revel01/29/2024 8:20 AM
Osha was worried, she knew it couldn't be her and the Alvia's fault for the disasters happening but she couldn't help feel judged by certain members of the village, and spent a lot more time trying to be more available to the humans in the village, to try prove she wasn't favouring the Alvia, just because they had magic, That said when winter came, she grew more concerned, did the village have enough food? perhaps they should ask other villages for help. That said she knew the village was proud and didn't really want to ask for help either. she wasn't sure what to do, she spent less time outside as the sheer cold affected her more than she liked to admit.
Revel01/29/2024 8:23 AM
Nari was worried, while she didn't think it was ENTIRELY the Alvia's fault (how could she when she practically was one herself) she didn't care about getting noticed though, unlike some who liked to be praised for their efforts. She worked hard to gather as much as possible, trying to secure as much fish as she could from the water, before the winter and ice came and froze things over. She hoped she'd done enough to help the village but she also kept her portion sizes down, she didn't need much, between helping with the other healers, fixing the sick up, and her work trying to feed everyone, she was often too exhausted to eat anyway. Something had to be done or their village was doomed, these were the kind of thoughts that lulled her to sleep, dragging her awake in the mornings...
Revel01/29/2024 8:25 AM
Elton was pleased that some of the villagers agreed with him about asking for help and as the winter came, and the snow was light but just didn't want to unfreeze, he was more and more vocal about trying to urge the elders to ask for help, if they just offered trade or something.... with everything, the village was struggling, badly. As much as he kept out of the politics of everything, he refused to stand by and do nothing at all. He didn't think it was anyone's fault but he couldn't help but wonder... why was it all happening.
NatiStorm01/29/2024 8:37 PM
Amali disliked the cold so she spent most of her time by the fire in the Mess Hall Tavern with a drink in hand. She would sing and preform upon request but for the most part, she just tried to stay warm.
Rainyaviel01/29/2024 9:28 PM
Quinn was miserable during the cold winter. Her herbs had seen better days and her stocks were running low. The chill in the air seemed to go straight to her bones. Whenever she could she hid out as close to a fire as possible, trying to nurse her remaining plants through the conclusion of the worst year she could remember. What had they done to deserve any of this? Who had brought this curse down on HollowOak? Why? She had so many questions and no answers to a single one of them.
Rainyaviel01/29/2024 9:31 PM
Nayzee wasn't thrilled with the cold but as long as she was at work in the kitchens it wasn't so bad. She could hear the complaints of other villagers as they mingled in the mess hall and she couldn't help but wonder what it would take to raise morale in the village back to 'normal' levels. She remembered lots of laughter and fun in HollowOak when she was younger but now everyone seemed so serious. Sure, life wasn't easy right now, but it wasn't the worst it could be either. Couldn't everyone just lighten up, a little?
Rainyaviel01/29/2024 9:34 PM
Kimber knew from all of her studies that everything has a cycle. It made sense to her that this winter would be colder since the previous one had been so mild but she couldn't help feeling on edge. Cycles were typically stable but when she checked her notes it was obvious that things were accelerating. How much more could happened before something finally snapped? What would happen when it did? She kept her nose buried in her books and scrolls, searching for answers, while wrapped in as many layers as she could reasonably wear at one time to combat the winter chill.

Tatyana felt downright lousy for a long time. Pneumonia is no joke and spent a long time recovering. Whenever she was well enough, she went outside to get a gout of fresh air. Nothing like nature to kill ya or give you what’s needed. That’s a joke of hers. But she was, perhaps a little more neutral than normal, but she knows that weather runs its course and even cold winters have their ending. At least it isn’t a bl-- whose idea was that joke, it certainly wasn’t hers. Don’t jinx everyone. Geez. The harsh winter would kill the bugs that fed on crops. This was a good winter. Nevertheless, she spent the winter waiting for the warm sun and the delicate spring flowers.

How that played out:
@Luna Many in the village appreciated Gwendolyn's positive attitude and recognized the effort she put into her job. (Gwen's dot in social means 1-10 is auto success) Gwendolyn caught the flu during the winter.
@DBPyrat Nearly all of the suspicion around the Alvia was dissolved after Gunnar pointed out how such disasters have happened before, many times. Gunnar stayed in great health during the winter.
@robbedragon The elders sided with Raja and Gunnar, dismissing Shulbari's request without hesitation or a second thought. Shulbari got a bad cold during the winter.
@robbedragon Once his plan to leave had come to light, many villagers took the time to tell Cochran to stay, that the weather had nothing to do with his luck. Cochran stayed in decent health during the winter.
@robbedragon Nearly all of the village listened to Raja and found comfort in his words. Raja got a cold during the winter but it wasn't to bad.
@Swamp Siren Most of the village sided with Raja and Gunnar so they mostly ignored Cole. Cole caught the flu during the winter.
@Swamp Siren Many in the village agreed with Anastasia and appreciated her effort to keep up moral. Anastasia caught the flu during the winter.
@Revel Nearly all of the village was too concerned about the lack of food to really notice Osha or the help she was giving. Osha stayed in great health during the winter.
@Revel Most of the village was to concerned about the lack of food to notice the efforts Nari was putting forth. Nari caught a bad cold during the winter.
@Revel Most of the village was to concerned about the lack of food to really notice Elton or send anyone out for help. Elton caught a bad cold during the winter.
@NatiStorm Nearly all of the village was to concerned with the harsh winter to pay any attention to Amali. Amali caught a bad cold during the winter.
@Rainyaviel Most of the village was to concerned with the dwindling food reserves to notice Quinn. Quinn stayed in great health during the winter.
@Rainyaviel Most of the village recognized the effort Nayzee was putting towards keeping up moral and appreciated her for it. Nayzee stayed in decent health during the winter.
@Rainyaviel Kimber went through every book and scroll she could find but found no new information. Kimber stayed in fantastic health during the winter.
@ᙏᙓᒪOᙏᗩᖇ 🐸 Nearly all of the village shared Tatyana's feelings about the winter and looked forward to the spring. Tatyana caught the flu that winter due to a weakened immune system.
