Character Name: Poli'ahu Calandra Rye

Pronoun Choice: She/They

Age: Twenty-seven

Home Region: Alola

Character Overview: Poli'ahu was once a rather carefree child, with her main focus being on dancing and pursuing her dream. But with Team Skull practically invading her home, she was forced to make a change. Now, she's become shrewd and withdrawn, and someone who puts on a mask to deal with every day life. She had to push her own identity down for so long that it almost feels foreign now, but with the opportunity to turn her life around through the NRC and going to Nauwill... She hopes to find herself again. And to make sure what happened to her home never happens to anywhere else.

Five Likes:
  • Reptile Poke'mon
  • Pineapple (or the equivalent)
  • Action / Suspense / Thriller movies
  • Solitude
  • Napping

Five Dislikes:
  • Cherries
  • Wearing heels
  • Coffee
  • Normal typing - why does it exist????
  • Romance movies / books / tv shows

Hobbies: Surfing, Swimming, Parkour, Dancing (mostly hip pop, breakdancing and freestyling)

Three Strengths:
  • Focused: When there's a goal in sight, there's nothing that will stop her from reaching it. Poli'ahu zeroes in on the problem and does whatever it takes to get it solved.
  • Adaptable: Quick to embrace change, she can fit in to any situation with ease.
  • Collected: Even under strong pressure, Poli'ahu remains calm and cool. Very little shakes her, allowing her to have a clearer mind in almost every scenario.
Three Flaws:
  • Shrewd: Poli'ahu is intelligent and quick, but she's not afraid to accomplish things in an underhanded manner, and has a disregard for the general feelings of others. She has become bitter and untrusting of the world after everything she's been through.
  • Masked: Due to her under cover time with Team Skull, Poli'ahu has learned how to push her own feelings and opinions aside in order to play the perfect part. Some might say she's a great actor because of it, but it's something that she actually hates about herself nowadays. It feels like she's lost her true self.
  • Intimidating: The way she holds herself and speaks can be frightening at times. She takes absolutely zero shit, and has the perfect resting bitch face.

History:
- Born and raised in Alola on Akala Island
- Mother was the Kahuna of Akala Island
- Father was a stay at home dad, tending to Poli'ahu each and every day
- Raised in a very loving home where she was encouraged to try and do many different things
- Learned how to dance from an early age, and was very deeply integrated into the traditions of the island
- While exploring the island one day with her father at the age of nine, she met an injured Salandit near a cave
- Took the Salandit home to help it recover and ended up bonding tightly with it
- Began to train for the possibility of taking on the Island Trials two years later, eventually catching a Gastly, Spinarak, Mareanie, and trading for a Venipede and female Nidoran.
- By the time she could participate in trials, her team was Salandit, Nidorina, Ariados, Whirlipede, Gastly, Mareanie (everyone was about early 20's level)
- By the time she was done with the trials, her team was Salazzle, Nidorina, Ariados, Haunter, Toxapex and Scolipede. (she also had a harem of Salandit on the side for her Salazzle, they just weren't battlers)
- It took her two years to fully beat all the trials, with tons of training in between.
- Once the trials were done, Poli'ahu continued pursuing her dream of dancing all over the world, though she hadn't gotten out of Alola just yet.
- While she had returned to dancing, a more pressing matter had come to light.
- Team Skull was invading various areas of the region, and had taken up a base on Akala Island.
- They began terrorizing the local population, both of people and Poke'mon, and even attempted to battle Poli'ahu's mother many times.
- By the time she was 16, her mother was attacked by Team Skull and left in the hospital.
- Not only were they terrorizing the people, but they were also messing with the ecosystem by scooping up as many Poke'mon as they could.
- Poli'ahu had become to be fed up with this and their blatant disregard for the traditions and native Poke'mon of the region.
- She started out trying to battle them until they'd leave, but it didn't particularly work.
- At the age of 17, when battling a particularly hardy and cruel Team Skull member, Poli'ahu's Salazzle was injured so terribly that she passed away before even reaching a Poke'mon Center.
- In her grief, Poli'ahu released all the Salandit she'd captured for her Salazzle, so they could find a proper home again, and began to formulate a proper plan to make Team Skull leave.
- At age 18, Poli'ahu cut her hair and put in contacts to try to join Team Skull under an alias, to take them down from the inside.
- It worked, and it took her another two years (age 20) to prove her "loyalty" to the team, fighting non team members and helping to catch Poke'mon for research (much to her distaste).
- Team expanded tremendously due to the connections with Team Skull, though, and getting off island Poke'mon - obtained an Ekans, Toxel, Skorupi, Croagunk and Foongus.
- With a large enough team finally, Poli'ahu began to work towards her original goal: taking down Team Skull and getting them to leave the Alolan region.
- Within the year (age 21) she had built up enough strength with her Poke'mon to have a large enough amount of poison gas to enact her plan. (Nidoqueen, Ariados, Gengar, Toxapex, Scolipede, Arbok, Toxel, Skorupi, Croagunk, Foonguss)
- Poli'ahu let loose the poison gas into the vents of the base, which ended up making hundreds of people sick, and several got very close to dying. (but no one actually did die)
- Every single Skull Team member in the base at the time was hospitalized from the poisoning, along with many innocent people who were family members of the team members, or friends they were trying to recruit.
- She was caught immediately thanks to the camera security of the base, and while Team Skull was taken into custody as they were recovering, Poli'ahu was also taken into custody for poisoning people on such a massive scale.
- Poli'ahu was taken to jail after a massive two year long trial (age 23) for the mass poisoning, all of her Poke'mon stripped from her and sent to her mother and father, even though the lawyer had fought valiantly for her trying to protect her home region from Team Skull.
- When the NRC came around, Poli'ahu was one of the first to put her name on the list for the rehabilitation.
- She had grown to regret the path she took in Team Skull, and hurting all the people that she had.
- Hearing about Nauwill made her strengthen her resolve to try to keep a new, unblemished place from being corrupted the way that Team Skull had corrupted her and her home.
- She was in jail for three and a half (ish) years before the program came about.

- has Acrophobia and Trypophobia

Looks good, but noting that I can't approve until I make the Team thread in case the timeline is off and you need to shuffle team names or something. (y)

So, via our timeline the Aether Foundation and therefore Team Skull's peak activity of being tough guys and not reformed was only 8 years ago, meaning Poli'ahu would have to have been 19 at that time in order to be 27 now, meaning incarceration would have been between ~19-21. That doesn't change much apart from numbers, but it's worth noting. It's also worth noting that Team Skull is not a hugely oppressive group in general in our history (they were thugs, but minor thugs vs Team Rocket's violent takeovers or Aqua/Magma trying to literally destroy the world).

Not to say they couldn't have been making their family life hell, but worth noting that it'd make a good reason to be incarcerated for mass poisoning perhaps longer than the two years written? XD

Lemme know if you're fine with that and just want to adjust the age history, everything else is fine as said before

I increased her age to 29 so it would help fit her into the Team Skull activity better, left her at going to jail around 25 years of age, and being in jail for about three and a half years, give or take. If that's not a long enough time in your opinion, I'm more than willing to nudge it around some more ^^

I mean, it was fine if she was twenty-seven, you would just have to have her going to jail earlier in her history because after the events of SuMo (which are ~8 years beyond current day in our meta timeline), Team Skull more or less reformed and are kinda just hooligans, not A Menace. XD So I wasn't saying she had to be older, just that you'd need to adjust the history timing because anything more recent they wouldn't be aggressive / her history wouldn't have made as much sense - their activity window is relatively small in our history!

They're only active for a couple of years, more or less, so it's a very small space to be flexible in history, that's all. But if you want to keep her aged up that's fine as well, it just needs to be that she went to jail 8-10 years ago (with regard to her age), no more or less.

OOOOOOHHHHHHHHH

sleepy brain didn't understand LEL

I did put her back to her original age, had her joining Skull at 18, poisoning happening by the time she was 21. So I had that she had a two year long trial before being sentenced to jail officially, does that still fit? She was incarcerated at 21 and went to jail (or prison if that term fits better here) by 23, and then only recently got released on this program (three and a half to four years later). Or should I word it that she was in jail even during the trial? I wanna make sure I get everything down right ^^

I think that works fine - sorry for the long wait here! I could have sworn I passed her already, so I guess I just forgot to come back and put her in. Thumbs up!
