While pokémon eager to be a human's companion aren't as easy to come by in Nauwill as they are in other regions, at least for aspiring new trainers, this area is one of the few things all the factions in the area agree upon: people hoping to venture beyond the well-guarded borders of Doveport need protection. The creatures living on the island have no concept of what a human is, and they certainly have no reason to fear or avoid them; while, obviously, not all wild pokémon are vicious or even aggressive, enough are that it's thoroughly agreed no one will leave the safety of the settlement without their own partner.
To this end, Fairlight, URA, and VCA have pooled their resources to maintaining a stock of pokémon available to help people acquiring their first companion. Both pokémon eggs collected from the local care centers and donated pokémon alike find their way here, meaning there's always something to help newcomers eager to strike out into the land. It might not always be their dream partner, but the collective groups promise the pokémon are healthy and well taken care of.
Characters wishing to go on expeditions will need a pokémon - no exceptions! However, we know sometimes that can be difficult in a shop, so we've set up this center to help out.
All totally new players may pick one of the three starter eggs at any time, even if they entered the shop by winning another pokémon; even if none are pre-colored, staff will make them a brand new one to help them get into the game right away. These eggs contain either a Nauwillian bulbasaur, a Nauwillian totodile, or a Nauwillian torchic. This is the primary way to obtain these pokémon, outside of special events, so pick carefully! Each player is limited to one of these freebies - not each character. Take note!
You do not need a character to request your starter pokémon! Anyone can request one to quickly get into the shop!
Sometimes there will also be pokémon here for open adoption. These will consist of any pokémon or eggs that players surrender to the shop, as well as others that staff might help find their way into the pen. These are open for anyone to adopt, but they require filling out a writing prompt and having an appropriate character to be the one requesting the adoption. If the form is accepted, it will be quoted and a staff member will notify you of your successful adoption!
