Wren felt better about this expedition after all she wasn’t going out completely alone. She always hated that and made her want to keep her trip out short. Today she was headed out with a construction worker. “All packed up and set Miss Eiruzemlya?” Wren offered an awkward smile. She had learned from the last time and wasn’t bringing a coffee but had a bottle of water with a lemonade powder mix already mixed in. She had a few Pokémon with her. Foxfire, Tea Leaf and Tanaka. She still had considered bringing Herb had decided to leave them back home in the garden as they looked so comfortable. Not only that this are was less well explored so Wren didn’t want to risk Herb getting hurt at all. She hefted her pack up thinking she may have overpacked but wasn’t sure what she would encounter so she may have packed for anything she could think of. Looking at Miss Eiruzemlya the other seemed to act much the same which was a bit of a relief. Between the size of these two packs they should be able to handle anything. Though in an emergency she would drop it and run.

Haven carried a relatively flat affect. She was fairly disinterested in this trip but she knew Nal wanted her to go out and do more things in the community. She preferred to focus on facilities and building as that was her passion but she supposed she could be somewhat sociable if only to make Nal happy. Nodding to the name recognition she hefted her own pack and was ready to go. “Set?” She gestured to the clearly overpacked and likely useless packed bag the other had.

Stepping out into the valley she couldn't help but smile it made her think of home thick vegetation rolled out before the pair and Haven was half tempted to leave the other trainer behind. Still that would take some explaining so instead she glanced over and realized she would have to take it slow as the other trainer didn't seem as strong as she was.

A small inlet from the river seems almost too perfectly made... Success reveals signs of definite intentional tampering - it seems like this pool is some kind of aquatic pokémon's nesting ground.

Hiking up next to Haven for a time was exhausting thankfully the other seemed to slow down and wait for her but didn’t say anything and her face didn’t change. It was kind of annoying to be honest. Reaching a small inlet it caught Wren’s eye. “mm” She knelt down and gestured for Haven to take a look and pointed out the modification. “This part here has been tampered with. I think a Pokémon did this. There are some recent signs that there has been some digging and shaping.” She gestured to the upturned roots and wilted plants that had been dug up in the inlet formation. Haven looked and nodded but didn’t say anything. This trip was going to be just Wren talking to herself wasn’t it? It made her feel nervous and her stomach started to tighten up. Sighing she stood up and looked around. “It might be a nest. We may want to scoot a small way away to prevent spooking any Pokémon.” She rolled a pokeball holding a partner of hers in her hand considering bringing a Pokémon. But she wasn’t familiar enough with this zone to know if it was better or worse to have a partner out unlike the grass zone. “Should we have someone out to help deal with things?” She wished she had read the existing briefings on this area more she had only done a quick glance.

Haven nodded to the informative spiel the other trainer had. It was interested but she was quite certain while this was not a well explored but there had been some notes about some kind of water Pokémon building nest in the area. She supposed it was a good note to keep an idea where a nest was. Miss Taurëore though seemed somewhat depressed. Haven didn’t know why. Still perhaps she was worried about an ambush given her next statement. “Yes that’s a good idea.” She pulled out Dow and let him out. Miss Taurëore brought out an eevee. That was good. They seemed pretty solid. Bending down she stroked Dow right behind the ears while they swiveled taking in the new area. Dow was so cute. She was glad she brought him along. She gestured to keep exploring as the pair of trainers and Pokémon kept moving into the valley.

Tealeaf was paying more attention to the situation then Wren was and when a Pokémon came out of nowhere to attack Wren, Tealeaf tackled them but missed only to get headbutt and tossed back like a doll. Wren gasped hating to see her partner get hurt. She was glad she had another trainer with though as the nidoran coming toward to help in the battle scared the tangel off. Bending and checking over Tealeaf Wren patted her and checked her over it was clear Tealeaf was hurt quite a bit. Putting Tealeaf back into a pokeball she brought out Tanaka. “Take a rest Tealeaf thank you for saving me.” She looked at Haven. “Thank you for the assist.”

Haven had been surprised when the Pokémon attacked from a den. Dow went to a an assist with a quick signal form her. Haven looked at the trainer hunched over the eevee checking it over. She felt bad for the Pokémon but was glad the other trainer was so concerned. She hadn’t really liked Miss Taurëore so far. At all. It wasn’t personal. Haven didn’t like many outside of her family or Nal, her dearest heart. But anyone who cared deeply for Pokémon was alright even if they were otherwise useless. She watched as Miss Taurëore changed out her partner for another. It was a cute little totodile. Nodding Haven gestured to continue the expedition. And waited for Miss Taurëore to pull herself fully together to keep going. "You are welcome."

Wren was just not having a good day as she started to head out with Tanaka still trying to shake the ambush from the last Pokémon off another dropped from the canopy above onto her head. Screaming in surprise she took a swing at it with her arm knocking the N. Scatterbug off of her and Tanaka took no time at all to start chasing after it to chew on it. Wren took a moment to breath and pulled out a research ball she was more annoyed at the surprise attack twice in a row then not. Tanaka had just bitten the bug and it was looking a bit ragged. Wren threw the research ball and it lit up while taking the bug inside and shook a few times before settling down meaning the catch had been successful. She was still breathing a little funny and was pretty much ready to turn around and head back at this point. She looked at Haven who looked surprised and a little pale? Well maybe they should keep going. She didn’t’ want the other trainer to think she was the world’s biggest jinx. “Well” She laughed nervously. “There’s a pokemon for the research team.” Tanaka was strutting around proud of itself and thumping it's tail while making bitting motions at the air. "Yes good job Tanaka." She knelt down to stroke his eye ridge affectionally.

Haven was surprised when she heard the yell her neck twisting and snapping back to look at Miss Taurëore. What was it this time? She saw a scatterbug clinging to Miss Taurëore’s hair and watched as it got swatted off with a swift motion and Miss Taurëore’s totdile went after it like it had been born to do so from the start. She however was quickly looking up to make sure it was just the one dropping down. She felt the hair on the back of her neck stand up and she bristled adjusting her jacket. She looked back down at Miss Taurëore and the battle was all over. The other was looking at her strangely. Could she feel how disturbed Haven was by the bug? The comment made her blink. Miss Taurëore had caught it? Well that was find she guessed it meant it wasn’t coming back to get them. Taking a deep breath she nodded and they decided to continue onward. Why did it have to be bugs?

Going through the valley it remained a quite trip for the most part. Both Wren and Haven were looking up every so often to make sure there were no more surprises from above. The shadows of the deep growth made Wren shiver as the shadows moved here or there. It was making her really uncomfortable. She missed the nice little trips out the grasslands. She would certainly be doing more trips there then this place. Still she knew it was important to check things in new areas as well but she wasn’t brave at all. Still after two ambushes today she figured it was just par for the course right? “So ah what all do you do on the island?” She had signed for an expedition and gotten paired with Haven so she didn’t really know her well.

Several of the trees here seem to have deep holes in their sides... Success reveals feathers and claw marks indicate this area is a sleeping spot for feathery pokemon.
