Trade/Swap/Giveaway Thread!
Every year in Big City, something a little bit strange happens; the Big Well seems to get, well, uppity - overflowing with energy and often times bringing to life things it probably shouldn't. At least, that's how the legends go, but for decades now the citizens of the city have turned this bizarre event into one of the most celebrated times of the year: the Festival of Dolls.
See, left to its own devices, the Well will, according to folklore, start animating just about anything within its reach. Having everyone's cars and pants just spring to life is a little bit inconvenient, so somewhere along the line some enterprising citizen (many joke a toymaker) figured out that if people just brought useful forms to the area, the Well would mostly just animate those instead. While every now and then citizens still find flying wallets or cell phones rattling around on the ground, it's become a fashionable tradition to bring neatly decorated dolls to leave around the Well to take up its attention instead.
While no one really knows if those smaller things are sapient (and most scholars hope not), the dolls most certainly are, making it an exciting time of year for everyone involved. The start of the year heralds the arrival of new friends and neighbors for everyone, not to mention a profitable season for companies providing bases or even pre-designed dolls for those who want to participate but just don't have the time or ability. So why don't you come join us and pick up the trendiest doll pattern of the day to bring your own special friend to life?
This is our once-a-year MYO event for ACBC! Grab the base and get scribbling, because after January this opportunity will be gone until 2021!
What's that mean? It means you can design your own citizen - or someone else's if you want. There's a number of ways you can qualify to make a doll - see below to see all the ways to earn a slot, but make sure you read the design rules first, as they've changed a little from previous years!
Design Rules
- You must use the base provided.
- You may edit the base, but you must be able to tell where the original lines were used. To meet this you must still use the same general torso size, head size, and a similar pose.
- You may add limbs, but you may not turn your doll into a feral or elongated tauric body form.
- Your result must still look like a doll in some fashion, such as with added stitching, joint lines, and/or features like visible stuffing or patches.
- If you do edit the body or add edits such as clothes and accessories, you must use a binary pen tool. This has different names in different programs, but it means essentially a pixel brush - solid only, no anti-aliasing/softness on the edges.
- Coloring may be done with whatever brush or technique that you desire, but we advise that you not add glow effects outside of the lines as each citizen will have a border added to it before being added to the masterlist which will interfere with these effects.
- If you use any fonts or textures they must be free for use or of your own make.
- Do NOT resize the lineart! The final image may be larger than the base because of editing, but do not resize - they must be the same size as the base file to be added.
- Do NOT add the white outline! We will do this to make sure all dolls have the proper style and size of outline.
- These bases may ONLY be used for this event.
- You may NOT alter the bases to use them for anything else.
- You may NOT trace or heavily reference these bases.
- You may NOT charge any money or points for designs made on these bases.
- You MAY create designs to give out to others but you must add a disclaimer wherever you post them that they are only to be used for this event.
- If you post designs for others to claim, you must also link directly to this event unless you're posting in one of our threads, journals, or channels.
Gaining Doll Slots
- One free slot for yourself.
- Three slots that must be used on other people. You may use these for swaps (you make mine, I'll make yours!) if desired. Agreeing to a swap and then backing out of it after someone has officially made you a doll will be grounds for a six month greylisting (banning from any/all events).
- Site supporters get another slot as a special thank you. You must have the site supporter status at the time of posting your doll!
- Joining the DA group or TH world gets you another slot per site. You must stay part of the group/world after the event, or your dolls from these slots will become untradeable. Your accounts on these sites must be at least 2 months old and may not be completely empty - there must be some indication that you've used the site in some capacity! You may post these here, just state your username when you're using this slot (for verification).
- If you do want to participate on another site, making a DeviantArt journal and advertising the event will get you another slot. Please link to the post in order to claim this slot. Please link to the DA event post in your journal if you choose this slot!
Slots are per person, not account. You can participate wherever you want, whether it's here, DA, or TH, but you may only earn up to eight slots total, with three of them having to be used for other people. If we find out you are pretending to be someone else in order to get more slots you will be immediately blacklisted from the shop and all of your citizens will be made untradeable immediately.
Do I have to use a slot to color a design? Nope! You can color as many designs as you want to give out or trade with others.
Can I work with others to make a design? Sure, you can collab to make designs. You can post blank base edits for others to use, too. Just as long as it's all for this event, it's all good with us!
Whoever posts the form uses a slot.
In order to submit a doll for being officiated, please post this form in this thread - one per post, please, even if it means you post several times in a row!
All forms must be submitted by January 31st, 2020, at 11:59PM Central time!
No forms will be processed after this date!
