[Expedition] Darker yet Darker [Completed]

The clearing that opened up was anything but reassuring. Somehow it still managed to be nearly as dark and closed in as just making their way through the forest. Tori was looking around in the brush around the edges of the clearing. Eulalio called that they were going to climb a tree, there was something up in the branches of one of them. Tori called back a distracted affirmative. Aside from things she expected to find in a forest-weeds, plants, sticks, trees- she wasn't finding anything out of the ordinary.

There was a startled yelp from Eualio and the thump of something hitting the ground. Tori whipped around and was heading his way before he could even start groaning.

"Are you okay?!" she asked, digging in her bag for her first aid-kit. I have bandages and-" Eulalio waved her off and started to get up. Unfortunately, Tori found a wonderful rock with her foot and fell directly into them. The first aid kit went flying and both of them were groaning, sprawled on the forest floor.

"I am. . . so sorry!" Tori's voice was muffled, and mortified. It had been a miracle already that she hadn't tripped on anything else this trip and to do it literally on top of Eulalio when she was trying to help? Absolutely mortifying.

While the initial fall hadn't really hurt, Tori falling straight into them hadn't felt the best either. Eulalio just laid for a moment before really taking in what he was actually looking at.

"Oh look, oran berries!" Eulalio grinned. They never would have seen it hidden under the greenery surrounding the tree they'd been trying to climb if they hadn't landed on the ground like they had. Getting back up, and helping Tori up as well, he let out a few of his own pokemon to let them have a bit of a snack. "And you don't have to say sorry. Look, I never would have seen the berries if you hadn't done that." They bent to gather up the first aid kit, which thankfully hadn't opened. "Besides I'm fine!" They declared.

Tori watched as Eulalio took a step back towards the tree with the oran berries under it and then the ground collapsed under them. The world feels like it slows down, seconds ticking by in hours instead of it's actual pace. Tori has enough time to think she should move before the ground is collapsing under her as well, plunging her into a sink of soggy mud and broken leaf litter to join Eulalio. Briefly Eulalio struggles to escape the muck they've fallen into, but it's too much for him. There's a brief moment she thinks he might get out, but it leaves him too exhausted to continue.

Tori struggles against the muck holding her down. It takes an exceeding amount of time but she manages to pull herself up and out of it, if just barely. She's covered in the mud and sodden leaves and it left her feeling drained. Panting, she sits for a moment to try and cease her shaking limbs. Eulalio has been silent this entire time and that scares her more than anything else. The two pokemon he'd let out to graze on berries both crawled towards him. A shudder ran through her as she did it but she scooped the two bug pokemon up.

"You guys will just get stuck if you try to go to them now. Here just, ugh, just stay on me," Tori put the weedle and scatterbug on her shoulders. One immediately fell asleep and the tickling of the other had all the hairs on her body standing straight up. Withholding the response to shake them off- she had put them there!- she thought of ways to get Eulalio out. Almost all of them involved things she either didn't have or heading back to town. She couldn't just leave them here so.... she radioed for help and waited, hoping that someone would help them soon.
