Wren tapped her bag double checking the contents for one last time before heading out of the gate doors. She had been in this area before but it had been so long it felt like a brand new expedition experience. Sighing she considered turning around and just lounging with Emerald in the garden but Tanka had been chewing on everything in sight at home so she knew he needed to get out and get some exercise. An active pokemon needed nature at times. It was why she gathered up her sweet and soft angels to head out the starter area and play for a bit. After all it was a safe enough zone that even Herb could come and play. With one last grab to get a cup of coffee she headed out. Sweet sweet caffeine would help her get through this day. With that she headed out the doors into the fields. The day was a bit overcast but mostly clear so that was nice. She doubted she would pick up a lot of valuable information for the research folks but today was going to more about her pokemon then research.
First she pulled out her pokeball and let Tanaka out and watched as the little monster popped out and immediately snuggled up to her making her smile. They always seemed lonely so she appreciated the affection they showed her. Then off he ran forcing Wren to jog after as he took off in the fields to play. "Hey SLOW down!" He seemed to slow down but didn't stop.
First she pulled out her pokeball and let Tanaka out and watched as the little monster popped out and immediately snuggled up to her making her smile. They always seemed lonely so she appreciated the affection they showed her. Then off he ran forcing Wren to jog after as he took off in the fields to play. "Hey SLOW down!" He seemed to slow down but didn't stop.

Wren captured the N. Weedle and put in to the pack pocket. Well this was at least a catch that she could bring back to the research center. Honestly she figured they would likely take the Pokémon and release it if they had enough data on the species. Still the catch right out of the gate did make her feel a bit better like she was a part of the research facility like she should have been. Lately she had been depressed not having been as active as she felt she should be. Sighing she looked around only to realize that Tanaka had taken off again. "Tanaka!" Sighing frustration sapping her small successful feeling she launched herself into the fields where she could hear Tanaka rumbling around. She quickly found him rolling around the dirt with several weeds sticking out of his jaws. He seemed to grin at her excitedly. "Tanaka. Buddy. You can not just take off like that." She reached down and de-weeded her little Pokémon friend. "Keep this up and I'll put you back in to a pokeball and let someone else out for a while." She poked the totodile's cheek and it jumped up making a noise and shaking about excitedly snapping it's jaws. Ok it was a good idea to let him out and play for a bit. Speaking of excitable Pokémon she pulled out Herb's pokeball and let them out. The leafmew called out softly before hoping about and shaking it's leaves while looking around. She could keep an eye on the two of them she figured but would have to swap them out if they got to rambunctious. Tanaka continued his rolling around for a bit while Herb seemed to just be enjoying being outside. Feeling a bit restless Wren walked around a bit while keeping Tanka and Herb in sight.

Finding some berries she plucked them from the plant and looked them over. She pulled out her guidebook from her pack and double checked. Yep these were fine and well documented as safe for pokemon. Heading back to Tanaka she held out the berries as Herb seemed more interested in trying to find a stray sunbeam on the mostly overcast sky. "Here you go Tanaka." Before she could blink those berries were gone and a very happy Tanaka was snuggling up to her again. "Good boy." She stroked his head and he seemed to pause just enjoying the affection. She knew it was going to be short lived with how active he was. True to form he darted off to start attempting to single mouthed mow down ever weed in the field. Lifting up Herb to hold in her arms she followed along for a bit while Tanaka found a bush to naw on which would take him a while. Setting Herb down the Leafmew complained but soon found some soil to root around in until it was comfortable. Looking around the area didn't look to dangerous or like a wild pokemon could come out and attack at any time so out came another pokemon partner to play.
Foxfire had their little serious face on. Well like they always did. Wren smiled she had a soft spot for all plant type pokemon. Maybe that's why she had such a hard time with Tanaka, or it could be his rampant wonton destruction of everything in his path and inability to listen to a word she said unless she used a stern tone with him. Rubbing the bridge of her nose just thinking about it she sipped her coffee thinking it was likely the latter. Foxfire hoped a few times before deciding to join Herb in their rest in the soil. Yep coming outside had been the right call. It was certainly worth it. Pulling out Tea Leaf's ball she let the eevee out as well. Might as well open the door to all the mayhem children. Tea Leaf looked around for a bit then seeing her partner in crime run up and 'tag' Tanaka.
Tanaka who had been busy trying to nibble it's way through a thick root didn't notice Tea Leaf's approach and jump. The pair started to chase each other around. Wren chuckled a bit watching them play and was glad she wasn't at home where the two would run around the house jumping on and off the furniture. Sipping her coffee she wished she had one eighth the energy either of them had while she watched them run around. Instead she felt like she was Foxfire rooted and just ready to let the world pass her by while frowning at it hard daring it to approach.

She wasn't sure if the weather would get sunnier or turn to rain so she kept glancing up at the sky to see if the weather would turn or not. it still seemed the same. Maybe a bit brighter? That would be nice since more sunlight would make this place look like an ocean of green grass which was always pretty to her.

Putting the N. Weedle research ball catch into her bag she grabbed both Tea Leaf and Tanaka awkwardly ,while carrying her coffee, in her arms and got them AWAY from the baby Pokémon nest. The last thing she needed was for Tanaka to pick another fight while he and Tea Leaf played tag. Carting them back always to Herb and Foxfire she set them down and immediately had to grab Tanaka's tail to keep him from going back toward the nest. "Hey. Enough of that mister mouthy. I know you are tough but that doesn't mean you can just go destroy a Pokémon's nest." She felt a bit guilty after all Tanaka did battle hard to protect himself and Tea Leaf and she did benefit form catching the Pokémon but she figured honestly the day should have been an easy stroll and stretch of the legs not death trap every wild bug in the field! Thankfully it had just been small Pokémon in this field she didn't even want to think what could happen had she taken her troublesome Pokémon to other open zones. Looking at her coffee she realized some of it had spilled out while she had been hauling Tea leaf and Tanaka around. Swearing under her breath she vowed next time she was going to get a decent thermos for these trips. Keeping a close eye on Tea Leaf and Tanaka she noticed Herb and Foxfire repositioning to head to some light that was finally breaking in. She repositioned to keep an eye on all her Pokémon.

Finding more berries after repositioning she put them in her bag to give to Tea Leaf or Tanaka latter. Those two always loved snacks no matter what. They thankfully didn't seem to need them now as they were chasing each other back and forth at the moment. She was defiantly going to have to give them a bath later though.

Having been surprised by the baby N. Weedle she just got she tucked the captured into her bag she looked around reconfirming where her Pokémon partners were at. There seemed to be a large flux of N. Weedle today. She would have to report this as it seemed it was hatching season so some of the researchers might want to come out and sketch and track and record the new hatches and first actions of the species. She had to admit while she wasn't fond of the idea of holding a video camera for an hour watching a N. Weedle hatch from an egg she would be willing to do so to help research advance in the area. Heading over to Herb and Foxfire she quickly put them back in their respective pokeballs. "Sorry guys the trip is ending a bit early as we are gonna have to go report this back. I promise I will bring you back out tomorrow I swear." Turning she moved toward Tanaka and Tea Leaf. The duo was unsurprisingly headed back toward that Pokémon nest form before. "Sit!" She did get both of them to sit with that shout but she was annoyed. "Nope no headed back into trouble for you two imps." Honestly Tanaka was wild by himself but with Tea Leaf the pair just were mayhem incarnate. Getting both of them back into their pokeballs she started to heave back toward the gate. Taking a swig of her coffee she grimaced. it was cold now making it unpalatable. Still she didn't want to waste the resource so she choked it down in three gulps. Shivering from the horrible taste she hopped the caffeine kicked in and helped her get back in a decent time. The sun was coming out stronger now. Perhaps after she told the researchers about the weedle she could sneak back out with Herb and Foxfire and let them enjoy time outside a bit more. Or perhaps she should go hang out in the garden with them.
