Far from the perfectly mowed lawns you might be used to in civilization, the grasslands with all their ... grassy tendencies in fact leave you quite disoriented. Before long you're pretty sure you're completely lost, unable to ascertain the right way back home. Send one of your pokémon to try and scout the way back. On failure, -2 energy from getting lost!

Lang made his way out of town, glancing between his pokedex, and the far side of the area that needed exploring. Somehow he managed to get himself lost. He wasn't even that far from town, surely he should be able to just see it???

Unfortunately that wasn't the case and Lang eventually had to send Torchic to try and find the way back.

Torchic chirped at him and Lang followed along gratefully. He hadn't been sure she'd know what he wanted, but she turned out a bit smarter than he gave credit for. With his bearings regained, Lang turned to try to find things to bring back to town.

Lang somehow managed to get himself turned around once more. With a heavy sigh, he asked Torchic to find the way back to town again. This couldn't be happening. He hadn't even been out of town for an hour.

Torchic gave Lang this look as he tried to send her back to find town again. Then she sat her butt down in the dust, pecking at the grass to find goodies to eat. Lang ran a hand down his face. Well, might as well just continue on at this rate. The way back to town would become clear after awhile. . or so he hoped.

You find, hidden among the weeds, a small patch of bushes that you quickly recognize as wild oran berries! There aren't many ripe fruits, as it's probably quite popular among the local pokémon, but it's also a comforting sight to find something so familiar in such a wild place. You do manage to find a couple of edible berries. Heal 1HP for up to two pokémon and/or yourself.

Torchic scurried up to a bush and before Lang could stop her had gulped down a couple berries. Lang rushed forward to check them and sighed in relief that they were just oran berries. He popped one in his mouth even as he scolded the torchic to not just scarf down whatever berries it saw!

As they made their way along the grasslands in search of something to bring back to the research team, Lang stumbled into a briar patch. Torchic sat and watched as Lang tried to carefully pull himself out of the thorns. It hurt, but not as much as it would if he didn't do this carefully.

It took longer than he'd like, but Lang managed to pull himself from the briar patch with minimal damage. Carefully inspecting the wounds, he figured they would be ok until he headed back to town. He hadn't thought to bring medical supplies and it was too late to turn back now.

You don't see what causes it, but regardless of where it came from, you know darn well that the rock that just whacked you out of nowhere hurt. Regardless of whether it was some other adventurer being, well, a bit of an ass, or a pokémon trying to drive you away from its nest, you're definitely going to have a bruise tomorrow. -1 HP for you.

Just as Lang thought he was in the clear, a rock thwacked into him. Whirling around, he didn't see whoever had done it, but he shouted at them anyway. If it was a pokemon, hopefully it'd scare them away, and if it was a person, hopefully they'd learn better.

A sour scent leads you to a foul discovery: the remains of some long-dead pokémon, mostly devoured by whatever scavengers have come across it. While its life is long over, the rotting carcass seems to be fostering some other new life, as the nearby area is adorned with fruiting mushrooms. You can take some if you can tolerate the smell. There had been nothing else this entire trip. Lang was tired, he was hurt, there was going to be a large bruise on him tomorrow from the rock. So to say he didn't want to get mushrooms of the dead thing was an understatement. But, it was the only thing he might be able to bring back. Heaving out a long sigh, letting his shoulders droop down, Lang just went for it.
