"That movie was scary. Why would that even be a thing!? what was wrong with that Miltank!?" These were some of the questions running through Aerika's head as she wandered through the streets. She would've gone back to her room, but she was still a little wracked and needed to be outside. Honestly, she might've called her mom if she had any idea what the time zone difference was, she never even bothered to ask.

A slight breeze rolled through the trees, which shocked her cause she hadn't felt that in a few days. The sky still looked as dark and sinister as ever, which didnt help her mood. As if it sensed the distress, Silverleaf, the Nauwillian Bulbasaur that was given to her the day she got here, bumped her leg. "Saurrrrrrr?" It asked, with a look of concern on its face. "It's ok bud, I just don't like horror movies too much......" She looked around, realizing she had just been wandering, and noticed she was over by the Enrichment Center. "Hmmm, How'd we get over here? Let's sit down for a bit Silverleaf, maybe in a few minutes we can go see if there's a place to board we haven't found yet. What'd'ya say to that?"

"Bulba!!! SAAAAAUUURRRRRR!!!"
Came the excited response, echoing between the buildings in the stillness of the night.

"It's posted on the da-- it's posted on the door and the intranet board, yea? The ice and lava habitats are outside the barrier currently, and there's nothin' I can do about it. I understand yer slugma's gettin' antsy but there ain't nothin' I can do about it right now. We're all feelin' a lil' weird, what with the storm n' all, but yer just gonna have t'tough it out like the rest of us."

Without waiting for a response, the Enrichment Facility director just rolled his eyes and clicked the phone down on the receiver. It was the seventh call that morning he'd gotten about one of the out-of-commission habitats. Did it annoy him that the task force hadn't been able to cover the whole of the enrichment grounds? Of course! Was there literally anything he could do about it? Not without going out in that storm, and that was the last thing a boy from the damned desert had any interest in doing. Not that he could reverse the path of nature anyway, but even if he could the whole thing just made him entirely and completely unsettled.

Dust storms? Sure. Heat waves? Absolutely. Tornadoes? Whatever. Days and days of sunless, torrential rain, the howling of brutal winds and powerful gusts, even if they were dimmed by a protective barrier? No, no thank you, he'd rather not. It was no damned wonder he'd gotten the job so easily; paradise his ass. Anyone with half a thought about tropical storms wouldn't have come to this hell hole willingly, much less for the pay he'd accepted!

Annoyances aside, Ricky was grateful for the task force, though; that storm truly terrified the man, being the sort of thing he'd only read about or saw in movies. Actually experiencing it was far more stressful than he would have thought, and it seemed to be throwing him into as much unease as it had the pokémon in the facility. Not that he could put his finger on what was wrong, it just ... felt like everything was off. The babies whined more, the aggressive mons fought more - the whole place was just on edge, and it wasn't helping him catch a breather from the anxiety that riddled him to his core.

"Ei!"

A sharp bark broke the man of his thoughts, and he sighed at the demanding little thing now marching purposefully around his chair. He'd told himself he wasn't going to adopt any of the pokémon born from the facility - after all, why would he when he had so many to take care of as it was? - and yet there he was, leaning down to pet the deino's head before pushing himself away from the desk.

"Ei! Eiii eiooo!"

"Yeah, a'ight, I hear you. Look, we're goin'! We're goin'."

Barker might not have had the most original name, but it suited him, Ricky thought, and despite his current frustration it did bring a slight upward pull to his lips as he snagged his shake - mostly melted, to his dismay - and headed out of his office and towards the front doors. He needed some air, and the place would survive without him around for five minutes. In the same trek, he pulled out his phone, grateful for the local intranet... because he definitely wouldn't have any service in the current weather. As he strolled out onto the front grounds, he tapped a message into a private group channel, perhaps hoping to round up some kind of distraction from the current chaos that was work.

“Hey, come on. It’ll probably be over in no time.”

It wasn’t long before whenever became right then and right then rolled into an innocuous ‘bitching hour’, as it often did when there was at least a pair of talented pokémon caretakers – enrichment center employees or otherwise – bunked together around that particular public gathering space.

“Another movie?” had been his immediate response, the small flurry of messages dinging in his hand as he’d not been doing more than playing a game on the pocket device as it was. The nutritionist had missed the first one, a bit either rushed or unplanned as it had been, and beyond that … it was a good distraction as he was feeling a bit lonely himself.

Alexis always felt it when his usual group was busy with their respective jobs or duties, but during the worst of times even more so. He wasn’t the type to really calm people he didn’t know, or offer to assist finding missing persons or pokémon … maybe he even felt a bit useless as everyone seemed so unsettled.

“Then everyone can bitch at you for not working hard enough for their special baby … or whatever. Someone’s always got something to complain about, right?”

Alexis took a long drink from the long straw of his own shake. Boringly plain-coloured as vanilla was wont to be, it mirrored his own as he shoved the darker chocolate one toward his friend. While it was entirely like the guy to be a bit rough around the edges, it wasn’t to see Ricky quite so honestly upset.

So it was the least Willow could do to bring a replacement for that old, soggy shake; toss it out, he’d replied just less than twenty minutes before. I’ll bring another.

“At least the pillow fort’s comfy as ever,” he stated, letting all of those momentary thoughts drain away as he took another drink of his own. “said they’re working on trying to expand the barrier a little, but the ‘mons are doing their best, you know?”

After a rather pointed shrug at that he gathered the comfortable jacket closer against himself and pilfered a close-by pillow. The firm square provided support as he hunched forward, draping both arms over the thing and squinting toward the source of their soon-to-be entertainment.

“What are we watchin’, anyway?”

Not a child [Luci]: Understood.
Not a child [Luci]: Let me finish with these boxes and I will make my way over.
Not a child [Luci]: Is the strawberry shake still in the fridge?
Lucille was uncomfortable, although not necessarily for the same reason most of the trainers found themselves battling over. He felt useless, and while he knew realistically that was far from the truth it didn't settle the acidic guilt that had begun to creep through his gut and into his throat, threatening to spill over at any given second. He was a problem-solver, although he was adequately equipped with enough sense to know when he couldn't or shouldn't find a solution. And yet, despite that, he still felt listless as he listened to the panic in visitors' voices and watched fear strike the pokemon's faces like a quick bolt of lightning. He felt small -- and right now was not a good time to remind him that he was, indeed, actually short for his age -- and trapped, which meant Lucille would find absolutely anything and everything to occupy himself with until someone intervened.
He had begun to wear himself ragged, evident by the bags under his eyes and the chips in his nails. He wasn't even properly upkeeping his makeup or nails, which anyone close to him knew was of utmost importance to him. No- instead he was furiously cleaning every nook and cranny of the center, vigorously exercising the pokemon in their care, and traveling throughout the entire city to collect lost and frightened pokemon.
Today had been especially hard; a trainer had called in worried about a stray lefmew that had gotten itself stuck under a porch and Lucille had physically crawled under the building to gently coax the small pokemon out. Said pokemon was now properly washed, fed, and now asleep in the nursery, but Lucille still had paperwork to fill. Which required him to find a very specific folder that had, somehow, been moved during someone else's shift. This was why he never wasn't working -- people liked to mess with his organization.
But now that was over and done with, and Ricky was requesting company. Lucille had caught the tail end of a few short and angry shouts throughout the day and he sympathized with his friend and boss. People had begun calling the Enrichment Center to redirect frustrations and demands at Ricky himself, as if he could move the barrier with his bare hands or had any control of the obnoxious weather. Lucille had debated helping with call duty, but... no, he much rather drag himself under a porch, scratch up his favorite sweater -- which he had changed before coming back to work, refusing to be seen dead in such a state -- and get his daily steps in.
Yeah, anyway, Ricky needed the company and Lucille honestly couldn't stand to look at another form a second longer. He paused for a moment to peek into the staff room and scoop up his backup sweater (a pink and fluffy piece of garment he affectionately called his cloud sweater). By the time he found Willow and Ricky he had pulled his sweater over his head and heaved a loud sigh, catching Willow's question just in time.
"Anything that does not have guns, please," Lucille murmured, settling close to Willow. Shit, the shake- ugh, he'd get up in a second and check the fridge. "Outside is loud enough."
