Before Nauwill [0-24]:
As a young child, he was always the quiet kid in the corner, scribbling furiously away in numerous notebooks instead of properly paying attention in class. His parents were informed and warned countless times about his macabre and morbid tales, often following with check-ins from counselors and teachers. The thing was, Wynmond always loved a scary story, even before he truly knew about the genre. This interest pushed other children away from him, labeling him a "creep" or "weirdo". In his first years at school, it troubled him, generating a feeling that he had done something wrong for being himself. He even went through a period where he tried to "fit in", pretending to like the same interests as his classmates and hiding his personal interests.
This only served to suffocate him, slowly pulling him into a depression his parents struggled to handle for someone so young. His parents eventually transferred him to a new school and enrolled him in therapy, which resulted in him giving up on his attempts at being like everyone else and fully submerging himself in his stories. By the time he entered middle school he was far happier than he had once been but in return began to avoid other children his age.
His mother opened a Pokemon daycare right after they settled in their new town and Wynmond begged her to let him help around in his free time. He juggled school, daycare work, and his writing, slowly showing signs of insomnia that would later fully cement itself permanently as a part of him. He was happy, though, and his parents were just relieved to see their son finally feel at peace with himself. He stopped attending therapy at this time and was left unattended at the daycare frequently, although his mother frequently warned him to be careful and mindful of the daycare residents.
He was not. Wynmond grew attached to the family sneasel and clung to her often. The relationship seemed mutual until she had her own egg and showed signs of aggression whenever others came too close. Wynmond overly estimated their bond and came too close, resulting in her clawing one side of his face and blinding his left eye. His mother shut down the daycare shortly after and Wynmond blamed himself despite every attempt to reassure him. The family sneasel was rehomed and he further lost himself in his stories, often dissociating into dreamland instead of handling the guilt beginning to fester.
The rest of his middle school years were quiet -- too quiet. He rejected every attempt others made at being his friend and completely absorbed himself in his writing. He was placed back into therapy, which encouraged him to enroll in a writing program. He found brief joy in it before quitting entirely once the anxiety and perfectionism set in -- nothing he wrote was good enough in his head. His parents fretted and worried, but ultimately decided to give him space to "figure it out."
He entered high school as a full-fledged insomniac with clinical depression and generalized anxiety. He struggled socially in school, which worsened after his parent's divorce. It was then he met Jun Ito; a rich boy who bumped into Wynmond at the book store during a midnight release of a horror anthology series Wynmond was attending. Jun shared his interests and even also struggled emotionally in life, something that connected the two with each chance encounter and surprise interaction.
For the first time ever Wynmond showed interest in another person. Jun came to his house frequently and met his parents, who had yet to separate their home situation. Jun was welcomed warmly and often sought Wynmond, although he remained secretive of his own life. As high school progressed so did their relationship, until Wynmond took the plunge and kissed Jun on graduation day.
Their romantic relationship was a flurry of activity and confusion -- neither had ever dated and both handled it with clumsy hands, never defining themselves as a couple but also clearly attached. Wynmond was ready to try, however, and put himself out eagerly for Jun, showing a vulnerability he had never done before. Jun, in return, began to stiffen and clam up, eventually pushing Wynmond far from him when Wynmond tried to pry into Jun's life. Their breakup was volatile and heartbreaking and ultimately declared by Wynmond, who had enough.
His father moved out of the house during Wynmond's breakup with Jun and Wynmond decided to get a job at his mother's request, eventually hired as a burger flipper. He stayed there for a few years, shuffling between work and writing until 5am as his routine. He walked through life half present and half praying someday he could get the tales in his head onto paper, drifting through the rituals of life until, suddenly, a paper floated to his feet while returning home from work.
Nauwill -- a journey for something greater. A sponsorship was offered for those who showed prior interest in Pokemon and excelled at Pokemon studies, which was, frankly, one of two classes Wynmond aced his entire life. He did not mention a word to his parents, which led to a great surprise when a month later he had packed his bags and left home for the dock.
