Character Name: Max Bailey
Pronoun Choice: He/Him
Age: Twenty-five
Home Region: Alola
Character Overview: Despite his accident at the age of ten, Max is a person who is absolutely brimming with life. He enjoys going out and experiencing things, and is generally very happy. However, he isn't a pushover like most think when they realize he is unable to speak. Instead, he stands his ground and will glower at someone until they back off, or mime biting them in an attempt to make them go away. He lives every day like it's his last, without pushing limits and actually risking his own life, or others.

Three Strengths:
Quick learner: Max has a knack for picking things up quickly. Having been deprived of one sense, he's more in tune with the others, and has become much more observant because of it. Repetition is also key with him, allowing him to learn quicker
Active: He is always ready to move and engage in just about anything. Max has a hard time sitting still.
Undogmatic: A free thinker, he does not subscribe to the opinions or faiths of others just because they say it is so. He would rather go off of his own experiences and knowledge.
Three Flaws:
Speech: The accident rendered him mute at the age of ten, so when it comes to doing anything related with battling or asking for help... He's shit out of luck unless someone around him knows sign language, or he has enough time to jot something in his notepad really quickly.
Addiction: Max has a problem with energy drinks and large amounts of caffeine. He hasn't had enough to send him into a bad enough withdrawal to be hospitalized, but his withdrawal symptoms can be pretty severe. If he cannot get his daily intake of two energy drinks, he'll attempt to drink the same amount of caffeine through coffee or soda.
Impulsive: A biproduct of his accident, Max lives life to the fullest and will jump head long into the next thing that catches his eye. Whether it seems like a good idea or not.
History:
- born to a very loving family in Alola
- had a very normal childhood until around age ten
- he wandered too far from his parents outside and stumbled upon a group of wild Rattata that were being harrassed by a Gumshoos who happened to be awake enough to try to hunt them
- little fearless Max tried to stop the Gumshoos from getting to one of the Rattata, which put him in the line of fire of the Gumshoos
- lots of damage to his face, neck and chest, with the neck being the worst
- parents found him and took him to the hospital, but with the damage to his neck and chest from how powerful the Gumshoos' teeth were, he wasn't going to be able to talk
- lots of therapy and medicine was involved, but no matter how much they tried, he never regained his speech
- he has troubles adjusting for a couple years, but by the time he was a preteen, he'd gotten over it
- he was being bullied for being unable to speak and grew sick and tired of it, so he started to stand up for himself
- this got him into trouble a few times, before he learned how to settle things without throwing fists
- he stopped trying for speech therapy around this time, and instead took up sign language
- learned it quickly, and found he enjoyed it and working with his hands
- took up video gaming and physical sports like volleyball and soccer
- nothing would stop him now
- when he turned 18, he started hosting sign language classes of his own
- this is how he met Oliver
- this is also how he eventually got the little Zorua he has, which was his first Pokemon, as he'd been scared of them for quite some time
- Zorua was too cute, though, and nothing like Gumshoos, while also being very patient and allowing Max to adjust
- Zorua became his therapy and service aide
- he finally figured he was ready for an adventure and is following Oliver to Nauwill in hopes of helping further the research on the new region, and have an adventure
