Why did she have to go and do the haunted house? The question was playing in her head on repeat. It was scary enough that she vowed to never do one again. She began to pace outside of the circus grounds. The extra ending to the haunted attraction was haunting her. She couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to it than they were being told. Ghostly Whispers didn't really want anything else to do with that attraction or the circus but she couldn't forget about what took place.
She huffed to herself as she continued to pace back and forth. She was becoming irritated with herself and her reluctance to let it go. That thing weighed on her heavily because she had no idea how to even try and go about helping it. There wasn't a single soul within the circus that was going to say anything helpful. The thought about sneaking back into the attraction made her want to run home and not look back. She could just see it now, alone in the dark, on edge and waiting for something to grab her. She shook her head until the thought was no longer dominant.
She stopped pacing and just stared at the circus. Could it be possible that it was attached to the entire circus or maybe just an individual that was in that attraction unseen? Her mind started to consider all of the possibilities but despite her name she didn't know a thing about ghosts. She took a few cautious steps back to the circus but halted again. Could she really be thinking about investigating on her own? She shook her head to clear it of all of the thoughts and just stood there staring. What was she doing?
She went to a haunted attraction and witnessed something unexplainable at the very end. It was a confusing matter to all of those who were a visitor like herself. She saw a decent amount of others after the house but didn't dare approach them in case they were not friendly. Were they thinking about the end as well? She took a few more hesitant steps until she was at the gate for entry. She looked around and realized that the crowd that was once inside had dissipated.
Her heart started to beat rapidly with nervousness because she didn't know what to expect. She didn't even really have a plan or idea about what she was going to do. The circus itself was still open with a few ponies around playing various games. She imagined that it would close once all of the ponies were finished with their games. These were all about profit anyway right? She slowly walked back inside and looked around for any staff. There was no one that could be found aside from those at the game booths. Would they know anything? She considered talking to them but then realized they probably never even left their own booth.
She ventured away from the lit up part of the grounds and their games to the darker side with the haunted attraction. She looked around and was almost relieved to see no other pony in the area. She slowly made her way to the haunted house and then stopped. Was she going to try and get inside or just look for clues outside? She cleared her mind of all of the thoughts so she could be focused and aware of the surroundings.
Ghost had made the smart choice of not bringing a flashlight so she wouldn't attract unwanted attention. She was going to rely on the light of the moon to search the outside first. After a bit of searching outside the perimeter of the house itself, she found nothing of concern. She stood still and just looked at the attraction, contemplating if she really wanted to try and get inside. She had no idea how much time had passed but she was finally ready to try and get inside. She decided that the back would probably be a good idea to start with trying to get inside. She would be protected by the building from being spotted.
She took a deep breath and then started up the creaky steps to the back door. Once her hooves reached the top step she noticed that it got eerily quiet. There were no more crickets chirping around the area, it was just a dead silence. She got up on her back hooves and hesitantly peered inside the window of the door. She was relieved that she couldn't even see anything but none of that mattered with what happened next.
She was just coming back down from the window when the most haunting and frightening screech filled her ears. There was no hesitation or thinking about her next move. She was down the creaky steps and running away from that cursed attraction as fast as her hooves would carry her. She didn't stop to see if there were still ponies playing games or any staff that saw her flee from the haunted house. That screech was playing over and over in her mind as she raced from the grounds and back to the safety of her residence. That sound was one of pain and agony though it scared her a good bit, she couldn't help but feel sorry for whatever it came from. She didn't like that it made her feel this way because she had no intention of ever going back. She was done with the scares and the weird circus ponies. They could go back to where they came from and take their odd haunted friend with them.
