Thornapple trailed behind the other two rabbits to peer into the burrow. As the little white rabbit popped out he was quite taken aback. Surely this was the smallest rabbit he'd ever seen! It was the size of a kit, but she spoke like an adult. Well, like an adult if adults were constantly talking about monsters and other such things.

He piped up. "You know, where we're from, the monsters are supposed to live in here." He stared quite firmly at the very small rabbit. "But I don't think you're a monster."

The sight of the tiny white rabbit had Goldfinch popping back a few steps, her eyes wide and ears perked with curiosity. She’d never seen such a diminutive rabbit before! Surely this was a kit? But no, she didn’t smell like a baby and her proportions were all wrong. What was this? And monsters? Goldfinch looked down at herself, slick with rain and covered in mud she certainly looked like some boogey dragged out of the woods.

But they were all rabbits, weren’t they?

“But we are rabbits,” said Goldfinch. “We don’t want to hurt anyone, goodness I don’t think we’re capable of hurting anyone.”

She looked to Spotted Luck and Thornapple for that one. Goldfinch certainly had never hurt another rabbit before and she didn’t have intentions to do so.

“We’d just like to take our friends home.”

The little white rabbit furrowed her brow. "There aren't any monsters in Luremire!" She stopped, considering. If these were just rabbits, and there were no monsters outside, then what were the elders up to?

"Look, the elders have some of you mon-rabbits. I can take you there. But they don't like Giants. You'd have to figure out what to do on your own once you got there. And you couldn't tell them I took you there."

[Alanna the Pirate Queen]

Rumpus was a curious buck, even to his own detriment. He was somehow always getting into trouble, tripping over his own paws, falling into abandoned burrows, or generally just causing accidental mayhem. With some amount of self-awareness, Rumpus understood why most rabbits didn't stay friends with him for very long... but it did leave him feeling rather lonely sometimes. So when he spotted a group of buns going on an adventure, he wanted nothing more than to join. Alas, he kept his distance so that he couldn't cause his usual amount of trouble before the adventure even got underway.

Lucky for him, he was downwind of the small group. They seemed to be looking for someone, a brother? Rumpus thought sadly of his own family... they hadn't wanted to talk to him since the... accident. How badly he wanted to make it up to them. Distracted with these thoughts, he didn't notice the muddy puddle in front of him until his paws disappeared out from under him. There was a rather audible splash and he disappeared into the boggy water. Spluttering he dragged himself back out and stood there shivering, covered in muck and algae, and muttered to himself, "Oh Rumpus... you've done it again..." He looked sheepishly over at the small group, certain now that they had heard his splash and wondering how they would react to his presence. Oh how he hoped he hadn't already ruined his chances of making some new friends.

Thornapple leaned in as the little white rabbit spoke. "Please! Take us -" He was cut off by a nearby splash, followed by some mumbling. At least, was this the monster he'd heard about all his kithood? Emerged from a pool in this foul swamp, to eat them all?

He spun around, ready to flee. He was greeted not by a monster, but by a sodden rabbit. It took a moment for him to process this, and calm his racing heart. He looked back to the small white rabbit. "Please, just take us to them! That's all we ask!"

He glanced back at their newly arrived muddy companion. "You coming too?"

Mishap scrutinized the newest giant arrival. Where were all these rabbits coming from??? Any why were they all at HER burrow? She was ready to be free of these invaders. The elders could figure out what to do with them.

"It's a bit of a trek. We'd better get moving if we're going to make it while there's still light." With that, she turned and took off, simply expecting the giants to follow.
