TreeClan, Opponent: Raccoon
1. Battle
2. Oops! Encounter (while out on patrol, an abrupt cloudburst rolled in, causing the branches to become too slippery and difficult to traverse safely. Your patrol has to return to camp on the ground, which takes longer. The patrol will need to wait out the rain before they can try going out again.)
3. Hunting Training (apprentices roll 1d20 to determine if they are able to catch the prey or not, any numbers 13+ indicate a successful catch!)
4. Battle
5. Battle
6. Battle
7. Stealth Training (all apprentices roll 1d10, if they land on an odd number, they're able to sneak up on their mentors successfully. If they land on an even number, they make too much noise and alert anything nearby to the patrol's location.)
8. Battle
9. Loner
10. Scent Identification (all apprentices roll 1d10, if they land on an even number, they're able to correctly identify the scent as (insert prey type here, ex: a finch). If they roll an odd number, they cannot identify any specific prey nearby.)

(Sunflight hits the raccoon for 5 damage!)

Sunflight rarely left the camp with Riversong in tow, preferring to keep one leader in TreeClan at all times. Today, however, she had made an exception, joining in with a patrol her deputy had set up to go hunting last minute. It was all the same to snuggle up with her mate at the end of a busy day, or to share tongues together when they were swapping stories of their days in the afternoon sun, but she missed the feeling of running over branches and across them with her mate at her side. Come to think of it, Sunflight never got much hunting done when Riversong was with her. She always ended up getting distracted instead.

On this patrol, however, there was no time for hunting or distractions. They'd come across a raccoon who had holed up in one of the larger trees of their territory and while they had it cornered against a tree trunk at present, Sunflight knew all too well about what fear could do in a battle.

"Push it off the branches and descend upon it. We can fight this threat off together!" She called to her Clanmates, as she bristled at the creature and swung her claws at its paws. Goodness, it nearly had as many toes as Branchtail!

(Creamnose hits the raccoon for 5 damage!)

Creamnose had been happy to be assigned to the hunting patrol. Despite the warnings of raccoons in the area, he had yet to come across the beasts. Creamnose had seen a raccoon once before, going through his Twoleg's filth cans, but he had been in the safety of his Twoleg home. He remembered thinking about how similar the raccoon looked to him, though the raccoon's nose was more like a shrew's than a cats, to be sure. Maybe, Creamnose had thought, raccoons were some bizarre type of wild cat. It wasn't until he'd actually met TreeClan and other wild cats, that he learned how that likely wasn't the case. Despite some kittypet tall tales, wild cats weren't disfigured, horrible cats with long fangs that dipped out of their maws. As far as he could tell, TreeClan didn't eat babies either. Evidently, not every story about the wild cats that he heard out of a kittypet's mouth (especially his brother's) was true.

Brought back from his daydreaming by the call of Sunflight, his leader, Creamnose's senses sharpened up and he let out a menacing growl in the direction of the enemy the patrol faced. He couldn't afford to have his heads in the clouds, the action was here, in front of him. Watching his leader start her attack, he moved up to a higher branch and perched precariously on it, swinging his front paws down upon the raccoon's ears with his claws.

(Branchtail hits the raccoon for 5 damage!)

Branchtail had been one of the first cats on the patrol to scent their enemy hiding in the trees. He'd started to descend into lower branches, unsure if the scent was in the trees, or on the ground below. When the creature came snarling and biting out of its hidey hole in a hollow of a tree trunk, the patrol had sprung to, but Branchtail found himself struggling up to regain the ground he'd lost. Climbing up trees had always been harder for the tomcat than getting down them, so while his Clanmates - including his leader, for SunClan's sake!, began to attack the raccoon, he had only just hauled himself onto the branch below it.

Glancing up, he saw that Sunflight had balanced herself on the same branch as the raccoon. He could barely see Creamnose above in the higher branches, but he was certain that these branches wouldn't hold very well between two cats and a raccoon. So, he opted to stay on the branch lower and tried to skirt along to be parallel with the raccoon. With some effort, he balanced on his hind legs, with his front legs pressed into the trunk of the tree and grabbed the raccoon's tail in his teeth. Sunflight wanted him to get the raccoon to the ground - surely grabbing its tail was the best way to de-stable its balance!

(Riverson hits the raccoon for 5 damage!)

The day had started off so lovely that Riversong was eager to get out and hunt. Surely on such a nice day the prey would be out and enjoying the wonderful weather. Riversong was taken by surprise when her leader and loving mate Sunflight decided to join her patrol just as they were getting ready to head out. What a nice surprise on a nice day. With a smile and a bounce in her step now that her mate was with her, Riversong set out with the hunting patrol feeling lucky.

Riversong's smile only grew as they cornered the raccoon against the trunk of the tree. What a good day for a fight. At Sunflight's order, the white and grey dappled she-cat jumped into action. As the other warriors got into position, Riversong found herself just shy of actually being able to reach the raccoon that threatened her home.

She glanced at her mate, a wild look in her eyes, before jumping off of her branch right on to the raccoon. Using her claws to hold on to the creature, she let out a battle cry of a yowl before trying to latch on with her fangs.

(The raccoon hits Branchtail for 3 damage!)

The raccoon snarled as it was backed up against the trunk of the tree by the group of tedious cats. It was preparing to swipe at the one closest to it, when it slipped from its perch and fell atop the enemy below it. Slashing its long nails at the offending enemy, the raccoon was able to stabilize itself one branch below and begin its attack.

(Sunflight lands a hit on the raccoon for 5 damage!)
HP: 10

Sunflight let out a yowl of dismay when her mate, Riversong, launched herself at the raccoon. It twisted, tumbling off its branch, only to land on Branchtail who had been attacking from beneath. Her tail bushed out - rivaling the puffy tail of the raccoon her Clanmates were attacking. Steadying herself, she moved to the trunk of the tree and began to slide down its trunk.

"That's it, TreeClan!" She called her encouragements. "Keep pushing it downward - a fall from this height will leave it badly wounded and then we can finish it off together!" At this, she sprang from the tree trunk, level now with the raccoon and with a yowl, she leaped at the raccoon and landed near its head, raking her claws deep into its eyes.

Creamnose had let out a harsh gasp when the raccoon beneath him topped from its branch and onto Branchtail. Branchtail, who had Nutpelt and three kits to return to. Watching his leader and deputy descending atop the raccoon, Creamnose leaped from one branch to another, taking the faster, albeit riskier route, to get to Branchtail.

"Branchtail, you still alive under that?" He called, his green eyes flashing anxiously. When he reached the raccoon's branch, it was too crowded for him so with a powerful leap, he passed two branches and slashed a paw at the raccoon as he passed - any damage was still damage, right?

Okay, so maybe trying to drag a giant raccoon off its branch via its tail wasn't the best strategy. On the one paw, it definitely helped accomplish Branchtail's goal of unbalancing their enemy. On the other paw, he didn't quite think it through in the heat of the moment. Thinking about consequences has always been Nutpelt's thing. He thought in the moment before hissing grey fur collided with his own. Pinned briefly by the beast - and its weight doubled now by cats upon its back, Branchtail heard one of his Clanmates calling his name. Twisting enough so that he could swipe a claw at the belly of the raccoon, he hissed by way of reply. He was alive - but he wasn't presently happy about it. @NatiStorm

(Riversong misses!)

Riversong felt her grip on the raccoon loosen as the creature lost it's balance. Unfortunately she had also lost her balance and as the raccoon fell, so did she. Luckily Riversong managed to sink her claws into the trunk of the tree a little above the raccoon and Branchtail. Though she was unharmed, she was in no position to make an attack. Quickly, but carefully, she shimmied the little way down the trunk onto the branch that help her clan's opponent.

(The raccoon hits Sunflight for 3 damage!)

The pesky cats were determined to do it harm, but the raccoon was determined to survive this fight! It couldn't block the attack on its belly, nor its eyes or even its side as a stray paw seemed to hit it from the air, but it could fight back! Reaching up to its eyes at the next attack, it grabbed the claws of the odd-eyed cat and snarled. Pulling the paw up to its mouth, it delivered a nasty bite to the claws who had hurt its eyes so and snarled in the face of its enemies, as if daring them to continue.

(Sunflight misses her attack on the raccoon!)
HP: 7

For all the time Sunflight had spent with Branchtail in MountainClan, on the journey to find the river, or in their TreeClan home, she had never seen him use half the dexerity this vile raccoon could, when it came to grabbing prey. As her paw was yanked away from the raccoon's eyes while she tried to gouge them out, she yowled at the twisting pain, but it was nothing compared to the feeling of her paw pads splitting. Her paw twitched and thrashed, but she was unable to break free of its hold. Riversong - where was Riversong? Sunflight's eyes whirled, but she couldn't see her mate and let out a pained cry - was Riversong hurt too? This couldn't be! SunClan, help them all!

Creamnose could barely believe what he was seeing - the raccoon had grabbed his leader's paw, much like a twoleg might grab the scruff of a kittypet! More than that, it seemed to be holding on with such force that Sunflight was unable to break free and that was more than enough encouragement for Creamnose. Branchtail was still trapped under the raccoon and it held firm to Sunflight.

"Riversong, help!" He said, before launching his entire bodily weight at the raccoon. He shoved it off of Branchtail and it began to tip. If it wanted to stay on the branch, it would have to let go of Sunflight too. Creamnose could feel himself starting to fall too, but cats always landed on their feet. Could the same be said for his enemy's kind?

(Branchtail misses his attack on the raccoon!)
HP: 7

Branchtail had not been expecting Creamnose to come barrelling into the raccoon and while he was appreciative of the lack of weight lifted from him, as he expressed with fast, gasping breaths, it was all he could do to hold on to the swaying branch with his claws and his green eyes shut tight. He would try to attack again when the world stopped spinning. @NatiStorm

It had been a long time since she'd heard her mate cry out in pain like that. The sound of it pierced Riversong's heart and set her blood on fire. She was going to kill that raccoon anyway but now specifically for hurting her mate.

Acting quickly, Riversong jumped down and was going to attempt to help unbalance the raccoon in the same manner that Branchtail had when Creamnose charged in. Taking advantage of her position, Riversong reached up and latched into the raccoon with one of her front claws. Once she felt her claws hook into flesh, she pulled down, hard.

The enemy is weak. Choose now, do your cats commit to the kill or chase it off?

If you choose to continue fighting, you are consenting to have your participating cat entered into a death raffle should their hp hit 0. If you survive the fight and kill your opponent, you have earned a free battle scar edit to add to your cat!

If you choose to chase off your opponent instead, all cats will live and the battle ends here. There are no rewards for this except for the safety of your cats.

If the vote is not unanimous, the enemy will be chased away by default.
