Sunseer was feeling very good about today. He was on the up and up again. He had a new apprentice. His deputy was giving him space to stretch his paws and his daughter was only unhappy about it if he asked. He was
fine.
"Mm, yes. Feels like a wonderful day for fishing," Sunseer smiled back at Dandelionclaw. He didn't much care for fish, but he did enjoy the fact that he could hunt them even without his eyes. It required a lot of patience, mind. And very wet fur. But it was worth it to be able to contribute.
"So long as we stay away from--" The goose nest... He frowned. Weren't his patrols communicating with one another? This should have been noted days ago. He'd have a word with Skysong about it when they got back, of course, this part of the river would be off-limits for well over a moon.
The old tom stepped forward, ready to run in and defend the bold young cat who had angered the honking beast, but his Warrior stopped him.
"Stay...?" He threw an incredulous look after the sound of Dandelion's rushing paws. He felt his fur stand on end, hot anger making him bear his fangs. Ears swiveled, tracking the movement of the creature and his cats. The scent of blood caught his nose. He sank low into position, his long tail hovering just above the stony shore.
He was their
leader. He didn't make his way down the mountain, travel for moons, lose
everything just to be pitied.
Sunseer crept up behind the squawking goose, quickly attempted to judge his distance and leaped, throwing his weight into the body of the bird. Feeling the wing beneath him, he latched on with sharp claws and sank his fangs in deep.
"And your leader," He growled, spitting blood and feathers,
"Lives to protect you."
