Violetta was used to the rain. After all, in Drizzletown it was almost always raining, though typically it was true to its namesake - a heavy fog or light drizzle. However, there were times were Violetta needed to place some tea cups around the place and look over her old magic textbooks for repair spells. A leaky roof was one of the banes of her existence, but she could never manage to fix it on her own. Despite the ponies she'd hired for it in the past, somehow water always managed to find its way down into her book shop. Luckily, she'd enchanted all of her books - while under her protection in the book store, to be waterproof. The rest of her shop... not as much. She wasn't the young magical prodigy her parents used to dote over. Now, she was a humble unicorn in her humble home trying to make a living by selling the best thing in the world: books.
Which was a fine and dandy way to live her life, but... Violetta had always wanted something more out of her life. She'd wanted something adventurous, or better yet, romantic. She dreamed of a dashing stallion entering her life, tall, dark and handsome. He'd have a mysterious past, troubled - maybe, so that she could help heal his old wounds and make him a better pony, while growing in ways she didn't understand herself. She would be the centerpiece of some great prophecy! Or she would be the chosen one meant to heal the stranger - who would reveal himself to be a prince in disguise! And after all of their adventures and pushing through challenges, they would finally live happily ever after.
Violetta sighed dreamily, tracing a hoof over one of the covers of a book she'd just finished reading. Vampire's Kiss, featuring a beautiful unicorn mare who had to switch places with her twin sister, who had been captured by a vampire ghoulie! The unicorn - Primrose Potpourri - was faced with many challenges along the way, but like many of the books Violetta read, it ended with a true love story and a happy ending. Granted, the heroine in this book had turned into a vampire by the last few chapters and Violetta didn't quite fancy that lifestyle.
"I may want mystery and intrigue, but a life of sucking blood - ick! No thank you." She declared. Her horn glowing with magic, she levitated the book as she moved over to the romance novels section of her store. Securing it in it's rightful place she felt a large drop of water stream onto her mane. "Oh drat!" She exclaimed and moved over to the desk, her magic picking up a piece of parchment and a quill. Dipping the quill into her inkwell, she wrote in swirling letters: Hiring: Repairpony IMMEDIATE POSITION AVAILABLE. Inquire inside.
Letting the ink dry for a moment, she set the quill down and moved to grab a piece of tape. Opening her door a touch to not let the rainy weather from outside poor in, she taped the poster to the front door, just over her usual business hours. With a sigh, she began to close the door. She would be open for another few hours. Who knew, maybe fate would intervene and a repairpony would somehow teleport to her door? Even she had to laugh at herself for thinking of such a thing. She wasn't some chosen one for a prophecy, she was just a bookstore owner with an overactive imagination. Things like that... they just didn't happen to her. @Niyaru
