Dian had been working at Sew n' Sew, the small Everville boutique, for a little over a year now. They'd been thrilled when they got a job there - although it took them a while to get used to talking to customers in complete sentences. A must need service when working in retail was being able to communicate clearly. Luckily after a year of practice, they finally got the hang of it and could converse easily with regulars and the occasional new customer easily. They wore bracelets to indicate their mood to their boss, Queen Lace, on one leg. Two bracelets, one green and one red - wearing both indicated that they were in a neutral state, only wearing green meant they were happy and red was a sign that they needed to take their break right then. On their other foreleg, they wore another set of bracelets one pink and one blue. Today they were wearing both, indicating to those in the know, that they preferred they/them pronouns. Wearing one or the other would indicate if they wanted to be referred to either male or female pronouns. They'd gotten so many questions over their bracelets that they'd started making them for other ponies and selling them outside of work.
Since Dian was saving towards being able to somehow run a business of their own, every commission they took helped fund that dream. When you dream big from the ground up, every little bit counts. Dian didn't know if it would take three years or twenty, but expressing themselves through fashion was their passion and helped them so much to get through the day. If they could help other likeminded ponies... Then they could live happily.
Today was a relatively slow day, as far as things went. Dian had spent most of the morning and afternoon redecorating the mannequin ponies to suit the fall season. Long-sleeved dresses and form fitting pants, invoking a witchy look. Plenty of outfits made with fleece lining - to keep you warm in the chilling months to come. They had only just started organizing the scarf rack - rearranging the colors to look more intended towards autumn: reds and oranges, blacks and greens - when the jingling of the bells above the front door caused them to turn.
"Welcome in!" They chimed automatically as they fidgeted with their bracelets on either leg. "How can I help you today?" @PeterPan_da144
