Puddlekit was warm, but not in the way he was used to.
He was used to the feeling of soft fur against his muzzle. The sound of purring and the smell of milk. The feeling of getting poked by his siblings sharp clawed toes as they found their way to their mother's stomach to nurse. He remembered the sight of soft grey fur and soft green eyes and a soft mew and he knew that he'd been looking at his mother.
He wasn't looking at his mother now, however. He was looking around at golden fields that were so bright that even with his eyes closed, he could somehow still see the expanse of the fields. He kept them closed, for the fear of the sting of the sunlight hurting them - though something deep in his belly told him the sun could never hurt him, especially not here. Still he stared, his head turning and turning around, until his gaze lit upon a pool of water. He felt an uncertainty looking at the pool of water, like it held secrets that he wasn't sure if he was meant to look at, but the curiosity of a kit was too much for the sense of one and he padded over to the pool of water and peered in.
Leaning his head over the edge of the water, peering into the pool, he could see blurry shapes moving beneath the surface and he scooted back.
"There are cats in the water!" He gasped loudly, his ears pinning back in surprise. "How are there cats in the water? And... where am I, anyway?" @kovak
