Trainer: Nguyen Lan & Fei Lang
Project: Task: #01 - Meet the Locals
Assignment: Assignment 1: Study a Nauwillian Bulbasaur
Requirement Proof: Christmas the Bulbasaur (Lan's)

Options Chosen: Physical quirks & Temperment

Physical QuirksIns + Lore3... that this bulbasaur's antennae are its only sense of smell, and its nose is adapted only for breathing.

OR

... that this bulbasaur's bulb produces a thick, fuzzy down which it can puff out at attackers to help it escape.
TemperamentClever + Etiquette2... that these pokémon are quite docile, even with different personalities, and seem surprisingly happy to be around other species.

Who Is Rolling: Lang/Rano is rolling for both rolls.

"Alright Christmas, we are going out." Lan scooped up the bulbasaur where she had been attempting to get into his make up bag, removed the bag from her vines and started to leave. "We are going to visit my wonder twin and figure some shit out."

"Saaar."

"You can't have my makeup. It not like I can easily get more here." Lan replied, closing the door with his foot and head down the dorm hall. "Lang, Lang open up. I need your skills... well I take it you have some sort of proper skills."

He checked his hip against the door, testing if it was open. "You get to hang out with Christmas. She can hang out with your baby, maybe we can talk pokemon while you help with this research that is terrible." he bemoaned.

"Lang, Lang, Lang, let me innnn."

The thump of someone body checking his door startled Lang enough that his pen jumped across the page that he'd been writing on. His torchic sleepily peeped from it's spot on his pillow and he quickly turned in his chair to try to get to the door before it woke up.

"I heard you the first time Lan, now be quiet, my torchic is sleeping!" He called as he approached the door. Swinging it open he was greeted with a face full of a pink bulbasaur. Glowering at his newly discovered twin, he let them in but gestured for him to keep it down.

"I just got her to lay down for a nap. You wouldn't believe how much energy these things have." He closed the door then took a seat back at the tiny desk he'd been at before. "What research do they have you doing then that you need help with?" He wasn't about to admit that some of it befuddled him as much as the next guy.

"Are you sure you heard me the first time?" Lan questioned, keeping his voice down as he sauntered passed his twin. "Aww, that is completely precious." He ignored Lang's glower, instead heading to the bed to very gently and softly coo over the tiny ball of feathers.

"Ahh, yes. Research." He bent down gracefully, letting Christmas down on his twins floor. "I got diet, but the rest has been difficult. Lang, Lang, I am not meant to research things. I get my phone to read to me." Lan clasped his hands, looking at his twin. "So I said, you know who probably continued their education after 12? My twinsie." He grinned up at Lang.

"You did go to school past the 7th grade, yeah?"

"It would be hard not to!" Lang said, rolling his eyes. Torchic remained asleep, thank goodness. She had so much energy Lang wasn't sure what to do with it. There was only so much exploring that he could handle.

"At least the things they want to know are pretty basic? I got tochic's diet and temperament down pat." Lang was grateful he'd managed to get the both of those things, since he'd never had to care for a pokemon on his own before. With his mom, she'd force them on him for contests and then immediately take it away when the contest was over.

"I did go to school past 7th grade, yes," Lang winced a bit at the reminder that Lan had had a much different upbringing. "What are you trying to figure out now anyway?" Lang watched the bulbasaur wander about his room, it looked perfectly calm and content to him.

"Everything after diet, I managed that but all the rest have been escaping me." He sighed, sitting carefully down on the bed to not wake the little pile of fluff. "Did you give her a nickname yet? He questioned softly. She was just so cute. "I went with Christmas for my bulbasaur. The Johto variant is green and they don't have flowering bulbs till much later in their evolution." Lan swung his feet watching as Christmas started to explore.

Christmas used her vines to push up the bottom of Lang's bed so she could explore under there. She muttered to her self as they vines felt around seeing what sort of things she could mess with.

"What are you doing baby? Are you exploring?" Lan questioned and covered his mouth, amused as she starting to pull out journals and grooming supplies. "Well, I guess you found something to entertain yourself with."

"Though you have a lot of supplies under there." Lan reached down, pulling up a bag and started to poke into it. "Ooh, this is a good brand."

"So you're working on physical quirks and temperament next?" Lang asked, looking through the list of projects on his phone. "I, this just looks like every other bulbasaur I've seen here?" Most pokemon were hit or miss with Lang. He'd never seen a green bulbasaur so there wasn't much basis he had for what would be weird with this one. "Just tell them that it's pink and flowery then?"

At Lan's question, Lang's head whipped up and he reached to pull the journals from Christmas' vines. "Ah, nono, these aren't for playing with," he muttered, going to tuck them in his desk instead. Only half of them had something in them, but even then they weren't things he wanted to share.

"Of course I haven't named her. She's just...torchic." Lang grabbed a couple of the brushes out of the bag in Lan's hand and settled himself around the bulbasaur. "Here, let me groom you and stay out of trouble little one." With that Lang began to gently brush out all the dirt and stray pebbles that might have ended up in bulbasaurs coat. It was as familiar as it was soothing to do. "I enjoy grooming pokemon, so I make sure I have good supplies to do it with. . . .is your bulbasaur's nails painted?"

"You know, Christmas is pretty docile? Doesn't seem to have any problems with being picked up or my pokemon in the room."

"Did I say Johto, that should have been Kanto. We get visitors from Kanto so bulbasaurs we saw on occasion." Lan pulled out his own phone scrolling to the pictures he had took and flipped them to show Lang a group of tourist and him and Kennedy in uniform with a group of pokemon. "See, that one. Has the bulb but no flowers and just green."

"Ooh yeah, she is pretty calm about that. And no, I did play with her nails but I haven't painted them. Maybe I should paint them. I don't have any of the proper nail polishes though." Lan mused, considering what color he would paint Christmas's nails. "I think a gold would look really good on her."

"Isn't she precious? She actually really good with sharing the room with Sunny to. But I think that is normal? I mean your torchic is sleeping, so I don't know why she would even have a problem with her."

Lang paused in his grooming to observe the pictures Lan was showing him. Part of his attention was caught by the uniforms that he and Kennedy were wearing and the other part was busy taking in the pokemon in the picture. Glancing between the phone and the bulbasaur, he gestured with the brush.

"Yeah, see, so physical differences: pink, flowering, little antennae. Still cute though," Lang gestured to the pad of paper on the desk behind him. Lan hadn't brought anything with him to write the research down on, so might as well provide. "They're a really pretty shade of pink," he complimented on her nails. "I probably have a color or two in there. Don't remember how many, but there should be at least a blue."

It was at this moment that torchic decided that that was more than enough nap for her. With a sleepy peep, her eyes opened and the fluff fluffed out even further as she stretched.

"Tor?" The initial noise was curious and immediately turned to a happy sound at the sight of others in the room. "Torchic, torchic tor!" With that she was hopping onto Lan and fluffing up his hair before hopping down to observe the bulbasaur that Lang was grooming. Lang just sighed and checked his small clock. Twenty minutes seemed to be the longest that she had remained asleep for.

"Well now we'll have a chance to see how Christmas interacts while Torchic is awake I suppose."

"Blue could be nice," Lan mused, attention turning to the torchic as she made a peep. "Hello baby." He greeted, amused at the excited little bird. He reached up carefully straightening up his hair. "You have so much energy. That you do."

Christmas gave a curious noise, focusing on the new pokemon. She stretched out, wiggling her little claws and pushed herself up approaching the fluffy bird. "Bulba?" She questioned, shoving her flat nose against bird and gently pushed.

Lang ran a hand through his hair and leaned back as Christmas got up. "Torchic never seems to run out of energy, that's one of the first things I noticed. When I turned in my 'research' on her, I included that in the notes. Thankfully she wasn't really destructive, that or Lang was really good at keeping her distracted.

Torchic's head tilted as she observed the bulbasaur. "Torchic-chic!" she bounced back at the pushing, only to bounce right back forward and try to get on top of the bulbasaur. There was much flittering around and trying to get so she could perch on top of Christmas' head.

Lang watched for a moment before reaching over his head to grab some treats out of the bag settled on his desk. If it looked like Torchic was bothering the bulbasaur, he had something to distract her with, but he'd wait to see if the bulbasaur minded or not.

"What about Christmas, does she just have energy for days, or do you get to take breaks sometimes to do something other than play with her?" It was kind of tiring in a nice sort of way to have something that wanted his attention in more than a give me what i want sort of way. Lang shuddered as he remembered some of the looks his mother's ninetails had given him when they had to work together.

Christmas snorted at the torchic's seemingly endless energy. She fended her away from her head with her vines but was rather content to ignore her. Too much energy. She yawned, turning away to waddle to Lan's feet and flopped beside him. "Bulba," she said content to just rest.

"A lot of energy, have you tried getting her some toys so she can entertain herself? A feather on a string or a catnip toy might be the thing to let you have some me time." Lan leaned down, wiggling his fingers at the little bird.

"No, she tends to get into things when she wants attention, but she been very, very chill." Lan motioned to her, as she decide the torchic was no big deal.

Torchic, rather than be dissuaded from her attempts to perch on Christmas, instead just switched her attentions to getting on top of Lan. Hops on his feet and then his legs and then on the bed and off it and then over to Lang to investigate what he had and then back again over to the new duo. Lang was a known entity, might as well see if the other two would play.

It was a relief that not only did Christmas not mind the hopping, but actively chose to instead just chill out next to Lan. Since Torchic wasn't doing anything too crazy just yet, Lang decided to lean back and get comfortable.

"She hasn't given me much chance to go out and get anything. I don't like leaving her in the ball to try and go to the store, but every time I've been over by it it's closed. I don't really have anything here that would be suitable for her to play with." Lang rolled one of the treats across his knuckles, watching the pair of pokemon.

"That's definitely something to add in on the research then." Since Lan had made no move to do so, Lang grabbed a notebook and pen and took some shorthand notes. "Very docile, rarely gets into trouble, seems ok with most other pokemon."

"If you have a ribbon and a spare hair tie, or a spare shoelace you probably could make something for her to chase. Or just roll a sock up tight and toss it around and see if she will chase it." Lan smiled at the interested Torchic.

"Hello." He cooed. He tapped his mouth slightly before reaching to the torchic. "Will you let me pick you up? Do you like to be tossed?" He questioned, gently cupping the soft fluffy creature. "Mind if I pick her up?"

While those were both good ideas, Lang unfortunately didn't have either of those things. He had a handful of hair ties, but with how often they seemed to just disappear on him, he didn't want to let Torchic have any to play with. Especially since she might then decide to take them out of his hair.

"A sock could work," Lang mused. He had some and it wouldn't be too bad to pick up an extra pair. "She likes being picked up. Dunno about tossing, but you can always try." Taking the time to check on Christmas, Lang let out a brief laugh as he saw that she was dozing away. "Feel free to play with her however you like, just don't hurt her. Meanwhile Christmas has decided to take a nap. Would you like to trade pokemon for a bit? You can take her out to play and I'll keep watch over Christmas?" That would give Lang a break from scrambling his brain to find new toys with her and he could observe the bulbasaur a bit more for data to turn in to the research center.

Lan gently picked up the torchic and tossed her up a few inches and gently caught her. "What do you think fluff ball? Fluff fluff." He cooed, waiting to see her reaction.

"Mmh, would you like that? Do you want to go exploring?" Lan questioned. "For a little bit. Not for long." He didn't want to go for too long or too far while she was still getting use to things. Christmas though, Lan had been plopping Christmas straight up into other people's lap for a while. She would be alright by herself for a bit.

Torchic flapped her wings as much as she could the moment Lan tossed her. "Torchic torchic torchic tor!!" she cried happily, wiggling as if to ask him to do it again. Lang chuckled as he watched them.

"I've taken her around town to explore as much as I can. She does pretty well about it. Keep her out as long as you want, it shouldn't take me very long to write this up." Lang tapped the notes he'd taken for Christmas' temperament. There wasn't much more he needed, so it would go pretty quick writing up the notes concisely for the researchers.

Lan melted at the sight of the little torchic. "Alright, come on my dear. Let's go and make people jealous." He nodded at his twin and gently tossed the Torchic again, catching the little light bundle of fluff and feathers. "Later!"

And then he left before Lang to make him help. He was going to play with a baby and his twin could do the boring stuff. Like work.
