RLC Info Thread​

It must be noted that each artist is responsible for their own RLC! There are rules set forth for them to follow, but by entering into an agreement it is with that artist and we cannot be responsible for any refunds if something goes south. Failure to deliver promised art and refusal to refund will result in an artist being removed and blacklisted from the shop, however.

Payments and Payment Plans​

Unless otherwise noted, all of our artists available for RLC take Paypal for their payments. You will be asked to supply an email and you'll be sent an invoice for your order. Work will not start until payment is made; payment before work is the general rule here. There may be exceptions for extremely large orders, but you should generally assume that you will be required to pay immediately.

If you cannot pay within 24 hours, payment plans may be available depending on your artist. With a payment plan, you will be expected to pay within 10 days - your individual artist may have a lower time frame, so please do make sure to check with them when asking for a plan!

Please note that if you agree to a payment plan, you are beholden to it. If you choose not to pay, you will be greylisted from RLC temporarily. If you repeat the offense, you will be blacklisted from the shop permanently. Note that extenuating circumstances such as death in the family and grievous bodily harm will of course allow some flexibility here, but it will be determined on a case by case basis.

Minimum Pricing​

Due to the variable nature of the shop, it is difficult to place precise prices over a broad spectrum. Most purchases will either be determined by the artist ahead of time (for premades) or will be discussed with them privately to come to an agreed on amount. However, we do have minimum pricing that must be held to. Nothing in the shop can go lower than these prices - but remember these are basic prices. You will be expected to pay extra if you want more bells and whistles such as heavy edits and intricate shading!

All prices are in USD.

Alliosa: $15
Sanjari: $20
Elphyme: $20
Human/oids (guarantees underwear only): $15
Grimmalkin (always unique art): $45
Espers (always unique art; restricted availability): $60

About edits:
Edits begin at $5 minimum. However, the total cost must be decided between you and your artist; each person works at different paces to complete different work, and we encourage them to give quotes based on their own comfort level. Do not go to one artist and complain that another would do x cheaper; they are not the same people and you should respect they may have different comfort levels.

About shading:
We do not have a strict minimum for shade work; however, management feels that a 25-50% cost increase is a good start for fully cell/soft cell shaded/highlighted art.

Management feels that the artists in our ranks choosing to paint characters should charge whatever the hell they please, and in turn will be deaf to complaints about their posted prices.

Unique Art​

Any character can receive unique art or alts; grimmalkin or espers must always have unique art as their first piece, though future alts may be on bases if you desire them to have forms resembling the other races. Unique art is exactly what it sounds like - art that doesn't follow a base and is drawn totally from scratch. It may or may not match the shop's style, but probably won't!

Only some artists offer unique art, and this listing is to help you figure out who you can look to if you're interested in it.

Gachas and Gachibis​

Gachas, or gacha/gashapons, are collections of blind boxes! There will be a group of characters made by several different artists, and you never know which one you're going to draw. These may have wildly different ranges of edits, art style, and rarity, but they'll all be worth at least as much as your pull costs. This happens by way of assigned pricing; every pull in a gacha set costs the same, regardless of the design inside of it.

Gachas will typically have a theme attached, giving you some idea of what is inside of them, like "spooky darkness" or "glittery gems," but other than that there will be no definite details given. On occasion we might include capsule trinkets reflecting the contents of the set, just for fun, but others we might have no preview at all!

A special treat about gachas is that sometimes they may contain special bases known as gachibis. These are bases that aren't allowed to be used for anything else - not even in passing on to kids! This makes them a special little exclusive sliver of the shop. Most gachas will contain at least one gachibi, but there's no guarantee on how many there'll be.

Auctions​

From time to time, auctions may be held for particularly unique characters. These will always start with a minimum bid and may have ladders offering more prizes for more pay, though this isn't required. It is worth noting that all auctions will be held here on Basilisk Stew, even if they're announced on Discord, for the sake of an immutable bid record.

Auctions may come in two flavors; the first is a normal auction, where users will bid against each other in a thread, and the second is a silent auction, where users DM their bids to the one running it and the amounts, but not bidders, are announced in thread as the auction progresses. Regardless of the sort, all bids will begin and end on dates set in the thread ahead of time, and bids will always be in USD.

It is up to the artist if they are comfortable taking payment plans for auction bids, but keep in mind you are always required to pay the amount you've offered. Do not bid and then attempt to pay less; this will be considered the same as nonpayment.

Staff Limits​

All staff, barring the owners polliwoggi and sharkberrypizza, have limits to how much RLC they may take on at any one time. They are not limited in their total amount, but they are only able to accept one request/commission at a time. Please make sure to pay attention to their threads or sales rules when placing an order, because they may not be passing on your order but may simply be unable to take it until their previous one is finished.

Staff are allowed to sell premade characters at their leisure, since the work is complete and deliverable immediately, so make sure to keep an eye out for those options!

Supporter Presales​

Note that those with the supporter status on Discord (who are contributing to development of the shop via Ko-Fi) will be given special access to presales by polliwoggi and some gacha sets. There will always be restrictions so that an entire group will not sell out, but those with this status will have a first chance at things. This is a special thank you for offering financial support to our work.

Other artists are not permitted to have the same sort of bulk sales, so they typically will not have presale availability. This may change on a case by case basis if an artist chooses to prepare a set of premade kids, but it will be up to them to reach out to the owners of the shop to arrange such a set up!
