Character Name: Salem
Pronoun Choice: She/They
Age: Twenty-nine
Home Region: Unova
Character Overview: Salem has a hard time staying rooted in any one place. Maybe it's because of all the moves she made before she turned eighteen, or perhaps she was just always meant to be a roamer. With a penchant for bad luck in regards to stability, she grew too accustomed to the instability and just started to go with the flow. She is also incredibly prickly and easy to tick off, which has led to the ruin of many a friendship. The only long standing relationship she has is the soft spot for a younger half sibling who was left in a state quite similar to her. Otherwise, she generally doesn't like people, and actively prefers not to make friends.

Three Strengths:
Untiring: Having a seemingly endless amount of energy, Salem has perfected the art of working tirelessly for long periods of time without wearing herself out. She's not at 100% the entire time, of course, but she knows how to work at, say, 75% consistently for days on end.
Intuitive: Gut instincts rule her, and she typically has a very good sense of the world around her even without thinking on it much. She reacts on instinct mostly, which hasn't steered her wrong yet.
Adaptable: Due to the multitude of jobs her mother had, and all the ones she had to take, as well as the uprooting of their lives a multitude of times for new men... Salem has become adept at adjusting to new situations.
Three Flaws:
Capricious: Salem is prone to sudden and unpredictable changes in her mood and behavior. This can lead to her being combative or passive aggressive in some instances. In very few instances it results in being shut in for periods of time to avoid contact with others.
Cynical: Another side effect of moving around constantly, she has little to no trust or faith in others. Everyone acts purely out of their own self-interest, and will say whatever you want to hear up until you become useless or unentertaining to them. Then they just leave.
Bitter: Salem holds a long standing grudge against her father for leaving her mother, even if her mother was the other woman. He should have taken responsibility for what he did... Her second father - and only one she truly considered a father - passed away, and the last father she shared with Erin was absolutely terrible. But she holds the most resentment and bitterness towards her mother, who put her and her little sibling through all the things they had to witness in their lives, and for leaving them how she did.
History:
- Born to a far too young mother of 19, and a father of 27
- Her father was actually married and with two kids, and her mother was an affair
- Soon after realizing he had gotten her pregnant, he cut off all ties with the mother and left her in the dust to figure out things alone
- Her mother didn't have much family to rely on, and those who she did have didn't condone her relationship and having a child so young
- Ended up couch surfing through friends houses while pregnant, until she eventually had Salem
- Salem grew up in a run down apartment on the far side of the city, with little money to their names
- Mother resorted to various different odd jobs to do whatever it took to keep them alive
- Salem was often left with one of her friends, the few she had
- This continued on for many years, and when Salem was about halfway through elementary school, her mother found a new man
- Salem was 10 years old when her mother had her second child, little Erin
- Her mother was still working multiple jobs to take care of them
- Erin's father was around for four years before he passed, caught in a horrible accident
- Salem was distraught, as her step father had actually been amazing for them, and had been helping to take care of them
- 14 years old and she had to drop out of school to take care of her 4 year old brother while her mother continued working herself to the bone
- By the time she was 16, Salem and Erin had a new man in their life, and after he became their step father, their mother passed away from stress and overwork
- This new step father was verbally and physically abusive towards Salem, and used Erin's well being as a way to control her into doing whatever he wanted
- Mostly she was forced to steal or con people for him, though various other things happened to her because of this, a majority of which she never let come to light to anyone
- When she was 20, she finally got out of her step father's control with enough evidence to put him behind bars, and went to find a place for herself and 10 year old Erin to live so he could go to school without worry
- It was all because of Erin that Salem finally started having Poke'mon around, and found them very beneficial for getting Erin home and keeping him safe
- Coming to Nauwill 9 years later is her way of establishing a new start, and allowing her younger sibling to actually experience the world and life
