Bartolomeu —
'Bartolomeu is a Portuguese and Spanish name of Aramaic origin, meaning "son of Talmai" or "son of the farmer/furrow".'
Studious, intellectual, and dedicated would be the three main attributes of Bartolomeu. He has an ever lasting thirst for knowledge, and is constantly seeking out new things to learn about. Over time, this grew to more than just learning, but also experiencing and conquering. He is the perfect embodiment of "Jack of all Trades, Master of None, often times better than a Master of One". While his skills are eclectic and far out weigh those of an average Porri, he cannot master everything he learns. It certainly doesn't stop him from trying, though.

History:
Much like his name suggests, Bartolomeu was actually born to a family of farmers. A large family, quite frankly. Almost as if his parents couldn't have enough children to help around the far. Though it wasn't just their family, but a large collection of families. Regardless, Bartolomeu was a bit different from most of the rest of the Porri he grew up around. While they were fine and dandy with plowing and sowing, harvesting and watering, and everything that had to do with farming, he would rather sit inside and read. He felt this... Hunger within him. A hunger to learn. To know everything that the world had to offer past the ends of the farmlands that seemed never ending in the Shard he grew up in.
Most of his cousins, and even siblings, made fun of him quite often for this. Saying that because he sat inside all day and read, that's why he wasn't as big or as strong as them. That's why he was still so tiny in stature. They taunted him daily with such words, though after a while, they stopped bothering Bartolomeu. He learned how to let their pettiness wash over him. Instead, he began to point out small flaws in their farming techniques. Or, what he considered flaws. After all, there had been advancements made in farming over the centuries. Why would they not build a more reliable irrigation rigging with controlled tubing and pumps? Instead, they simply used dug out furrows of land and released large amounts of water twice a day into them to disperse amongst the fields.
Needless to say, a majority of his family was averse to his attempts to help better their farming. After all, they had been living on this Shard for generations now, and their farming was just fine the way it was. They were against learning these new techniques that Bartolomeu had found in the books of the big city. It began to create a rift between him and the older generations, which pushed him to finally set out to the big city. Bartolomeu sought out the biggest academy there, in hopes of finding his place in the world.
From there, he learned about other Shards, about magic, about advanced farming techniques, and even about things not related to farming. Slowly, he began to consume more and more knowledge. Farming turned to animal husbandry, which turned to animal farming, which turned to how to prepare said animals for consumption, which turned to... Wait, how did we get to blacksmithing? Oh but that book over there is about glass blowing... And this one is about how to make wine?
