Hope was currently rubbing her hands and flexing them trying to get full feeling back into them. Fluff had been stubbornly trying to get into a treat bag and when she told it no and tried to pull Fluff away from the bag it had discharged some static and shocked the daylight out of her hand and she was still sore from it. Thankfully Hart had been chewing with a small toy and playing at the time. Had the baby Pokémon been on her or Fluff it may have been a different story. Honestly Fluff could be so naughty after she had fallen back from the shock Fluff seemed to feel bad and baa’ed at her and nuzzled her as what she felt was an apology. Hart of course came over to investigate but then wanted to be cuddled. Fluff had settled down with Hart there as it seemed protective of the baby Pokémon. Right now, the pair were next to her with Hart sinking into and riding in Fluff’s wool as it liked to. Finally getting up she grabbed the treat bag and hucked into a cupboard and slammed it shut. Honestly, they were her salvation at work, but treats were a menace at home. She was going to have to find a nice safer place for them out of reach of Fluff. Gathering up her gear she reread her note that had been on the counter. A trainer had imported a Pokémon but it was acting like too much for them to handle so volunteers on the pokefoster list had been notified and she was up next to take a little troublemaker home. Hart made a soft mulling noise. Maybe it could feel her nervousness. After all she had set up a large playpen with some pillows in it last night. She also had a metal crate set up as well. She wasn’t sure if she would need a safe space for Hart or not but the play pen was octagonal and took up a large chunk of her space right now. It was reserved for Hart just in case the new Pokémon was a troublemaker. And of course, the crate was for the newbie. Fluff was a stubborn little monster, so they were fine anywhere, and she wasn’t worried about them, but Hart was still so soft and shy that she was a bit worried. Putting Hart in their customary spot in her hood she pulled out a pokeball and put Fluff away for a bit. Hart squeaked and wiggled to a more comfortable spot and settled in. With that she headed out to the enrichment center Pokémon center. She turned in her paperwork and finished signing in and was taken to a room kennel where a cute little pale Deino was currently sleeping. She double checked her pokedex data on it and was glad she set up a crate for it. It was a carnivore and the last thing she wanted was for Hart to get eaten. The Pokémon was collected quickly along with a blanket it had been using and she was ushered out in a blink. They were pretty busy today. Sighing she went home and let the deino out in the kennel cage she had set up making sure it’s blanket was in there first so it would feel comfortable. She would be keeping them in there for a few days until it could get used to its new scents. She watched for a bit while it nosed around and checked its new cage environment out. She slid a little tray of meat speaking softly to it. “Hello there buddy I hear you will be staying with me for a while. I know it's all new and scary to you but don’t worry, you are safe here. She then went along her normal routine cleaning, trying to ignore the sounds of the deino testing and chewing on the cage and bumping into it. Hart was still in her hoody and started to make noise, so she put the trifox in the playpen. “I hear you Hart I know it’s loud for a bit, don’t worry give the new guy some time to settle in.” She had to check her paperwork to remember the Deino’s name. Cedric. A bold name for a Pokémon but it seemed to suit it well. The first day was over in a flash. Fluff of course came over to investigate the newbie the moment it was let out of the ball which resulted in Cedric attempting to nip at it and Fluff responding with a headbutt to the cage. Taking time to settle them down left Hart to whine for a while until Hope could get over there and cuddle the soft sweet baby. The second day was easier as Cedric and Fluff got into one other nip fest but thanks to the cage things couldn’t really escalate and Fluff seemed to settle down having asserted its dominance in the house. Cedric was let out to wander under supervision, but the cage was left open for him to retreat if it wanted. It didn’t seem to mind though. Cedric seemed to feel that the new space was already his. She was glad she had the playpen for Hart up then as the trifox spent so much time sleeping that Hope was worried Cedric might try to take a bite out of Hart if she didn’t have the space. Cedric did take a nip at Fluff but after a quick shock he seemed to learn that Fluff not food and steered fairly clear of the Mareep. Hope had several close calls and was using some nice thick gloves while feeding and handling Cedric at first. She kept Hart close in her hoodie or on Fluff when not in her playpen. Cedric quickly learned who was food and who was not. It did take a few shocks as he wasn’t exactly clever, but he was tough and cool so after a week she got it sorted. Hart got along with Cedric well as soon as she let them play together as it seemed Cedric had enough of Hart’s scent before that by the time Hope actually let them play together that Cedric seemed used to Hart. Fluff of course still played Chaperone well and would head butt or give a warning shock to Cedric if he played rough with Hart which made Hope feel better. Fluff may not be the best-behaved Pokémon but it was very protective of the small trifox which was a load off Hope’s mind. She did have new chew marks on her chair legs at home which she wasn’t sure when that happened, but she learned if she put some capsaicin oil on things then Cedric would stop biting them. The only problem she had found was the treats. Once Fluff and Cedric seemed to find a steady pace and found peace with each other they turned to their common interest of food. They would of course sniff out and get into all the treats they could reach. Cedric would sniff them out and paw to get at them and if Fluff could reach them the snacks would be gone. Finally Hope had to get a shelf up high and put the treats up there to keep them from the duo. Hart’s playpen got taken down after a month. The small trifox liked to cuddle up with Fluff the most but was happy to nuzzle up to Cedric and didn’t mind when Cedric stole her treats. Hope was relieved they got along so well. She decided to head down to the beach for a little training. She had a nice disk and started to play catch and retrieve with Hart which went over well until Fluff stole the disk and wouldn’t give it back unless it got a treat. Honestly, Hope was glad that Hart was so gentle and sweet because if it were rash, it might pick a fight with Fluff or Cedric and it was so small that it wouldn’t win. She felt it was the most sensible of her Pokémon partners. She worked with Hart on finding a treat under some cheap disposable cups while fluff still refused to let go of the disk leading to a tug of war between Fluff and Cedric. Hope pointedly ignored them and worked with Hart. Hart soon picked up on the game and would put her paw over the cup she wanted lifted after being trained to wait so she could get the treat. Hope was very proud of the little trifox. Hart looked so cool at that moment. Fluff and Cedric seemed to be curious now and wandered over, so she started to play the wait and claim game with them all. It was a long day but worth it as they all seemed to get along a bit more when she was done.
