[Alanna the Pirate Queen]

Backstory

Skimbleshanks has always been a friendly bun. A little bit... scattered... but a good bun nonetheless. He grew up in an adventurous family with parents who instilled in him and his siblings a love of the world and a thirst for exploration. As he grew, he traveled across all the lands, from the Tanglewood to the Dales, meeting all sorts of interesting folk along the way. It was only a matter of time before his propensity for travel and genial personality would be needed for the greater good.​

History

One day, Skimbleshanks was visiting a warren that knew him as a friend, when tragedy struck. A common illness known as white cough had begun spreading within the warren. Without a specific kind of berry that grew on the other side of their world, many rabbits, especially kits, would perish before the next full moon. Skimbleshanks promised he would go and find the berries and bring them back as quickly as he could.

The rabbit ran day and night, from Poppy Hills, through Meadowsweet, all the way to south Sunset Acres. This area was known for its variety of berries, and Skimbleshanks knew this would be his best bet for finding the medicine he needed. Alas... he was exhausted. Dragging his paws, he could barely keep on his feet, let alone find an elusive plant species. Fortunately, luck would have it, that the genial hare Skyrunner would happen upon Skimbleshanks in his time of need.

After a short conversation, Skyrunner got the idea and urgency. He was a helper, it was something that came naturally to him, and now he wanted to help. However, they were both at a loss at how to get the berries back to the warren in time. Skimble had a bag he liked to keep with him during his travels, but perhaps now would be the right time for them to part... The funny duo spent some time filling Skimble's bag with berries, and when it was full the curly-furred buck nudged the full sachle over to Skyrunner. The hare was faster and much less tired than Skimbleshanks was... he was the warren's best bet.

With a some detailed instructions, a quick salute, and a promise to meet again near Nymph's Pool, Skyrunner was off like a flash.

And so began... The Couriers. ​

Location

Right in the middle of Hopscotch, in Meadowsweet, just far enough off the south-western edge of Nymph's Pool to give the warren there some space and privacy, is the Courier's meet-up spot. Here the courier rabbits gather to exchange information, share stories, drop off items and messages to be passed on for delivery, and rest after a hard day's work.

Their warren is simple and well-kept. There are places for travelers to rest, for messages and deliveries to be sorted and stored, for supplies to be gathered, and for rabbits of all shapes and sizes to socialize.

A large tree occupies the middle of the territory, and burrows are carved out underneath its roots. They are spacious, well-lit, and organized. It is easy to find your way around intuitively, even if you've never been there before. ​

Decrees​

1) A courier never turns down a rabbit in need
2) A courier never steals or lies
3) A courier's sole priority is to the quest or mission at hand
4) All couriers, no matter how big or how small, are equal
5) No courier will take the life of another rabbit unless absolutely necessary
6) All couriers represent the warren, wherever they go. Your actions reflect upon us all.
7) All rabbits are welcome in our home

Traditions / Beliefs​

• Breedings/Relationships
  

  • Couriers are welcome to have whatever relationships they so choose, with whomever they like, and partners/kits are welcome to stay or leave at their leisure​
• The Races
  • Courier regularly have races to keep in shape and decide who is fastest and who has the longest endurance to be called upon in emergency situations
• The Scavenger Hunts
  • Like the Races, the Hunts keep the foraging rabbits in good fitness condition and keep their seeking skills sharp.
• The Great Moonrise
  • At every full moon, the couriers reconvene at their home base. During the Great Moonrise, they swap stories of their travels, update warrenmates on new discoveries and new warren alliances, and generally just have a great party
• Givingtide
  • In the dead of winter, the Couriers travel around the lands laden with gifts. During Givingtide, these rabbits humble themselves and are reminded of why they joined the warren in the first place, by giving what little is to be had in the harshest season of the year.

Ranks​

Ranks among the Couriers are relatively informal, and are just a way of keeping organized. Rabbits can switch from rank to rank as they please and it isn't uncommon for rabbits to perform tasks in ranks other than their own.

Champion: This is the leader of the couriers. Currently, this is Skimbleshanks simply because the warren was his idea and he is pretty good at recognizing talent in new recruits and keeping a cool head in times of need.

Runners: This rank of rabbits do the bulk of the speedy deliveries. While hares are optimal for this position, no one will keep a rabbit of any size from taking this rank.
--- The Fleetfooted: This is an honorary title given to rabbits that win the most races. It doesn't come with any perks, but rather with responsibilities. The Fleetfooted will be counted on in times of dire need, to run until the skin falls off their paws to get whatever message or delivery needs to be done before time runs out

Foragers: This rank of rabbits spend their time gathering all sorts of supplies and interesting things that rabbits need. Whether it be chamomile and poppy for warrens overrun with illness, to shiny stones and knickknacks for rabbits that have an eye for trinkets, Foragers are often out and about looking for things to fill the stores at the Courier's Hometree. While dwarves are optimal for this position, no one will keep a rabbit of any size from taking this rank.
--- The Keeneyed: This is an honorary title given to rabbits that win the most scavenger hunts. It doesn't come with any perks, but rather with responsibilities. The Keeneyed will be counted on in times of dire need, to search for whatever supplies are necessary before time runs out

Healers: This rank of rabbits spend their days studying how to heal. From seasonal colds to broken paws, the healers practice with herbs and ingenuity to help rabbits recover from whatever ails them.

Travelers: This rank of rabbits is for those who have no specific talents, but rather enjoy traveling around looking for rabbits in need of help. Whether they bring the help to others, or are the help themselves, Travelers keep to the Courier code at all times, no matter where they go.

Organizers: The Organizers are the home-bunnies of the warren. They stay at Hometree and organize quests, messages, items, and rabbits. They are excellent den keepers and have great memories. Denmothers are also included in this rank.

Unranked: Some rabbits just don't want a rank, some are just too young. This group is just a catch-all for these such rabbits.

Joining
Joining the Couriers is relatively easy, you really just have go up to Skimbleshanks and ask. He figures if you cared enough to ask him, you probably want to be a courier. He'll list out all the Courier rules to you (under Decrees), and if your rabbit agrees to them, they're in.​
