It started off small. A quick visit to the Doveport Distribution Center and suddenly Desi had a new friend. The plusle was cute, shiny in matching colors like a minun would be. At first it was perfectly ok trailing along behind Desi, though its gaze refused to move from the pokeballs hanging around her waist. They didn't think anything of it. If anything, they figured the new pokemon was curious about the rest of the group Desi had. So they took the little fellow back to her room and started the newly formed tradition to introduce everyone to one another. One by one the rest of her pokemon were released and with each new 'mon, the plusle would get extremely excited and then overwhelmingly disappointed. In the end, the little guy just slapped at the empty balls and gave Desi the biggest, wettest sad expression she'd ever seen before.
It wasn't long before Desi got caught up trying to cater to their two extremely clingy trifoxes. The tykes were adorable, but definitely a handful. She figured that the plusle was a little bummed, but it would pass. As the day dragged on it did not and instead got even worse, until the plusle was trying to fling themself out the door at every opportunity. It just so happened that the most recent, and successful attempt happened while her hands were literally full of trifoxes. Desi nearly dropped them as they ran out the door to chase the escapee and got a pair of twin bites and more crying for their trouble.
At the same time, in another room of the dorms Takuto was doing his best to try and comfort an extremely upset minun. He'd been foisted the new pokemon once they'd seen some of the rest of the group he had collected and the first thing it had done was start whining. He'd offered food, offered a playmate, offered toys, tried giving them their own space, anything and everything he could think of to calm the plusle down. None of it worked much if at all. He'd tried adjusting the lights, putting everyone else in a pokeball, even leaving the pokemon alone. The minun only grew more and more upset, until it was trying to houdini its way out of the room.
Thinking maybe a different kind of food would help, Takuto tried taking the minun down to the kitchens. There, Takuto could have sworn he only turned his back for a moment and one of the escape attempts was a success. Without a doubt the minun, who had yet to stop crying, was going to get him in trouble. He tore out of the room to try and catch his own escapee.
It was later in the day, the sun dipping towards the horizon, and all throughout the dorms the crying of the two separated pokemon could be heard. The pair of them dodged all capture attempts, running hilter skilter towards the sound of one another's cries. In the end, nobody could stop them before they reunited and for the first time all day their cries stopped. Desi and Takuto met a similar fate, neither paying attention to the other trainers in the hall to focus on trying to recapture their escaped pokemon. Their meeting wasn't nearly as seamless. They quite literally crashed into one another.
While the pair didn't have the smoothest meeting, both nursing a sore spot from the impact, they were both pretty friendly and noticed that their new pokemon was much happier. In fact they seemed almost magnetic, how drawn the plusle and minun were. It didn't take Professor Oak to figure out that the pair must be bonded, as in do not separate. Takuto was the first to suggest playdates, intentional meetings for the bonded pair, and joint expeditions. Desi was more than willing to oblige with that, but with how much of a fuss the pair had put up figured that that wouldn't be enough for them. With Takuto having an empty room on at least one side, and her just having moved in, it was quickly decided that she'd just move rooms. Now that they were going to be neighbors, the bonded pair would be able to see each other almost as much as they wanted and they would be way less likely to create havoc and run amok to find one another again. If they could, they were even willing to get a small pokemon door put in one of their connecting walls. Though Takuto was guaranteed to have more visitors than just the one little plusle once it was installed.
