Colorist: Pets
Pets are small companions for your ponies, and we have slacked in the past in releasing them! As a result, we realized we needed dedicated pet artists! We are seeking full-time and part-time pet artists who will not seek to switch positions in the near future. As a note, any pet-artist that might want to also color ponies will need to fill out a pony application when that time comes, whether they are staff at that time or want to dual-apply currently.
The Server:
We have a server dedicated to the shop, hosted by sharkberry and polliwoggi. You are required to download the program (WinSCP) to access this server. It works for Macs and PCs! If you are unwilling to use this server/download you should not apply. All official work is uploaded on this server; no other hosting site is allowed. You will be, of course, walked through the passwords/system if hired.
Files:
You should never give out any official files to anyone not on staff. This includes your best friend, your sibling, your parents -- we don't care who. If they aren't a staff member they should not have any access to our files, including but not limited to our lines, trinkets, PSDs of finished ponies, etc. If we find out this has occurred you will, unfortunately, be removed from staff.
RLC:
At this current moment, RLC is not an option for other staff. To be transparent, this may change if the shop continues to grow, but this is Nym and Tea's only income and thus we are a bit hesitant with sharing RLC sales. This is not up for discussion or debate at this current moment, so please please PLEASE do not attempt to become staff just to access RLC. You will be disappointed.
Coloring Rules:
- Characters should be colored cleanly. It's okay to make mistakes -- you'll go through approvals to catch any spills, inconsistent line coloring, incorrect anatomy, and other errors.
- Lineart should be colored in a comprehensive manner. If you leave lines black that's fine. If you color the lines one solid that's great. If you color lineart according to how markings present that's okay. We will correct anything that doesn't fit the style you present (coloring by marking but missing a few markings, coloring lines a solid color but forgetting a part of the body, etc).
- Mutants are rarer, however not to the same extent as pony rarities. You won't always have the chance to do mutated pets, however!
- We have a few systems you'll need to learn. CP (custom points), SC (staff credits), and monthly requirements are the most important. You will also roll for breedings to find out the number of babies, which you'll be walked through.
- This is a flat colored shop, mostly. We don't do shading on the body or edits. Highlights to emphasize shine, especially on jewels or metals, are allowed. Eyes can be as sparkly as you need. Bringing out highlights to focus on showing wet surfaces, metal, or similar edits are totally okay, as these effects are pretty hard to see without them!
- We don't really edit the body for non-mutants. Colorists can, with approval, template new body edits if they speak to Nym. At this moment template creation is on hold.
- Breedings should only use the colors/edits present on the parents. This means templated body parts, too. To go further, we do limit how colors distribute. Hair color should only go onto hair, eyes should only go onto eyes, the body should only go onto the body, etc. You cannot take a parent's hair color and use it on the body, for instance. We have special items and breeding slots to break these rules, though. A Ghoulie parent with the templated nub Ghoulie tail would make, if rolled, a child with a Ghoulie templated nub tail just like that edit. Mutations you can tinker a little with but should make sense. (While the above was written primarily for pony colorists, it still applies to pets).
- It takes a moment to learn all the rules, and there's probably some we honestly forgot. It is okay to make mistakes; Nym is here to help you and correct them. You will not be fired for mistakes, rest assured! We are a pretty patient group and have all been new at some point.
- You do not need to know how to do edits.
- You need to be able to open PSDs.
Full-time Requirements:
- A minimum of [3] freebies a month.
- A minimum of [2] breedings or customs (you can even split this)
Part-time Requirements:
- A minimum of [1] freebies a month.
- A minimum of [1] breedings or customs.
Application Rules:
- Color at minimum 3 mannequin examples with no edits. We do not have a pet base so mannequins are used here as well!
- If you wish to apply to also do edits then add 2 samples with minor edits (things like scarves, unique tail, etc. We won't be looking for heavy editors for pets).
- Use the application as is! Please do not add or remove sections unless marked otherwise.
- Hiring will have two "rounds". You will color on our mannequin and, if we seek to consider hiring you, Nym will reach out and offer to send you a basic pet file, where you will make an additional two samples. You also will do a breeding, to further show how you handle breedings!
- At any point in the hiring process, the shop can withdraw their offer.
- You do NOT need previous experience.
- We will not reach out to every user and tell them if they'll be hired or not. We will not defend our decisions. Please do not ask if we're considering you, as that'll remove you from consideration. This thread is open forever, and we will reach out if we need someone at that moment and if we believe you'd be a good fit.
- If you are no longer interested please delete your post.
- Any attempt to harass us over hiring will result in a greylisting.
- Giving out official lines, should you reach the second part of the hiring process, which will result in a permanent blacklisting. It does not matter the intent. Please don't do it.
- If hired you will be allowed to keep one of your two official samples, and the other will go into the freebies pool.
